>> MOTION TO APPROVE. >> SECOND.

>> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGENDA

[8. New Business]

HAS BEEN APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. OKAY.ALL RIGHT, NEW BUSINESS.

WE'RE GOING WITH THE YOUTH AMBASSADORS PRESENTATION.

>> I SEE IT NOW. YEAH. ALL RIGHT. GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY.

FOR THE RECORD, SHEENA DIRECTOR OF STRATEGY AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS, JACKIE WAYMIRE. TONIGHT, THE YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM FOR THIS YEAR WILL BE PRESENTING SOME RESULTS FROM SNOW FAST. RESULTS FROM THE SURVEY THAT THEY TOOK, ALSO GIVING YOU SOME OF THEIR PERSONAL INSIGHTS INTO THEIR EXPERIENCE VOLUNTEERING FOR THE EVENT. SO, EACH ONE OF THEM WILL COME UP AND INTRODUCE THEMSELVES, LET YOU KNOW WHAT SCHOOL THEY ATTEND, AND THEY WILL PROCEED WITH THE PROGRAM.

>> THANK YOU. >> HELLO. I GO TO AMERICAN HERITAGE. MY NAME IS MYTHLE COSTA.

>> I'M SPENCER COCHRAN. I GO TO STONEMAN DOUGLAS.

>> HI. I'M STELLA MARVEL, ALSO GO TO STONEMAN DOUGLAS .

>> HELLO. I'M ALANA CHROME. I ALSO GO TO STONEMAN DOUGLAS.

>> I'M BELLA BOND. I GO TO AMERICAN HERITAGE.

>> ALL RIGHT. SO, TODAY, WE'RE GOING TO PRESENT TO YOU OUR 2024 SNOW FAST RESULTS. WE WERE TASKED WITH JUST HELPING AROUND, SETTING UP THE ICE SLIDES, AND WE WERE ALSO TEST WITH SURVEYING THE PARTICIPANTS AND THE VISITORS, JUST TO SEE THEIR OPINIONS AS A WHOLE, AND WE GOT ABOUT 50 SURVEY RESPONSES. THESE ARE THE RECENT THOUGHTS.

>> THIS SLIDE ILLUSTRATES THE AGE DISTRIBUTIONS OF THOSE WHO ATTENDED THE EVENT, AS SEEN, A SLIGHT SIGNIFICANCE TOWARDS YOUNGER DEMOGRAPHIC OF 0 TO 18-YEARS AGE GROUP .OVERALL, THE PREDOMINANT AGE GROUP WERE THOSE RANGING FROM 25 TO 64, LIKELY DUE TO THERE BEING A VAST MAJORITY OF PARENTS WHO ATTENDED THE EVENT, AS IT WAS LIKELY AND TOWARDS APPEALING TO YOUNGER KIDS. THE REST OF THE RESULTS MAY BE SOME THAT MOST OF IT STEMS FROM THE PERSPECTIVES OF PARENTS OF

YOUNGER CHILDREN. >> SO, THIS QUESTION ASKED THE PARTICIPANTS HOW THEY HEARD ABOUT THE EVENT . MAJORITY SAID THE CITY WEBSITE, AND 26% SAID THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA. I FEEL THAT IF WE WANT MORE PEOPLE TO ATTEND, WE SHOULD REALLY PUSH FOR SOCIAL MEDIA, BETTER SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING, BECAUSE IT IS SO EASY TO UTILIZE SOCIAL MEDIA.

>> SO, THIS QUESTION WAS HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS EVENING'S EVENT. WE ARE SET UP TO ASK THE PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE RATHER EARLY, WHEN THE EVENT HADN'T KIND OF PROGRESSED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. SO, WE BELIEVE THAT RESIDENTS WOULD NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME . THEY WOULDN'T SPEND ENOUGH TIME AT THE EVENT TO KIND OF GIVE, LIKE , TO APPROACH THE QUESTION IN A RATHER HONEST WAY, SO WE BELIEVE, TOWARDS THE END OF THE EVENT IS WHEN WE WOULD RECEIVE FULL RESPONSES. WE ALSO RECEIVED ABOUT 26 BELIEVED IT WAS A 5, AND I FEEL LIKE THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WAS FROM THE THOUGHTFUL RESPONSES TOWARDS

[00:05:03]

THE END OF THE EVENT. >> SO, THE NEXT QUESTION WE HAVE PROMPTED THEM WAS AN DO YOU HAVE ANY ACCESSIBILITY NEEDS, AND MOST OF THEM DID NOT HAVE ACCESSIBILITY NEEDS, BUT FOR THE ONES THAT DID, WE ALSO ASKED THEM IF THERE NEEDS WERE MET, AND IT WAS SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE BETWEEN IF THEY AGREE THAT THEY WERE MET OR DIDN'T AGREE, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO COMMENT SECTION TO IMPROVE ON WHY THEY FELT THEIR NEEDS WERE NOT MET. SORRY. THEN, WE ALSO ASKED THEM, ARE YOU A MEMBER OF THE FOLLOWING GROUPS, AND WE HAD ABOUT TWO INDIVIDUALS EITHER WITH DISABILITIES OR INDIVIDUALS AT INSTITUTIONS, AND ALSO FOUR MILITARY VETERANS, AND IN THE REST WERE IN THESE CATEGORIES. GENERALLY, AS A WHOLE, PEOPLE SEEM TO HAVE A POSITIVE OPINION REGARDING THE QUALITY OF PARKLET'S EVENTS. 63% OF PARTICIPANTS RATED THE CITY A 5 OUT OF 5 WITH A 4 OUT OF 5 BEING CLOSELY FOLLOWED. ONLY A COUPLE OF PARTICIPANTS RATED THE PARTICIPANTS NEGATIVEY, STILL, OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE RESULTS ARE POSITIVE ON WHAT THE CITY MEMBERS THINK OF THE SPECIAL EVENTS, AS IS WAS CATERED TO PARENTS MORE AS WELL. POSITIVE RESULTS WOULD INDICATE THAT PARENTS ARE HAPPY WITH THE CITY EVENTS CATERED TOWARDS KIDS AND FAMILY OUTINGS.

>> WE WANT TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE.

RUNNING MYTHLE COSTA AND VOLUNTEERING, ON A POSITIVE NOTE, WE REALLY ENJOYED GIVING BACK TO OUR YOUNGER COMMUNITY.

IT WAS REALLY CUTE TO PLAY WITH THEM, PUT THEM ON SLIDES. IT WAS JUST FUN TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN THAT WAY. ON THE SURVEY PERSPECTIVE, IT WAS SHORT, WHICH I THINK MADE IT VERY APPEALING TO PEOPLE, BECAUSE PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY SEE A LONG SURVEY, IT IS DETERRING TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, BUT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE THINK CAN IMPROVE FOR NEXT YEAR WERE THAT THE IPADS THAT WERE GIVEN TO US FOR THE SURVEYS OFTEN HAD TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES LIKE WI-FI ISSUES, ALSO, LIKE, WALKING AROUND AND NOTICING THINGS. FOOD OPTIONS WERE LIMITED. THE FOOD TRUCKS WERE VERY OVERPRICED. AT TIMES, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO ASK TO GET ADULTS TO TAKE THE SURVEY , WHICH YOU CAN REALLY CONTROL, BUT MAYBE IF THERE WERE QR CODES PLACED ON TABLES, THAT WOULD BE MORE PROMPTED TO TAKE IT, LIKE, BECAUSE WHEN WE WOULD OFTEN HAVE TO, LIKE, AND DROP CONVERSATION TO GET THEM TO, LIKE, ANSWER THE SURVEY, THAT KIND OF SHOOK PEOPLE THE WRONG WAY. OTHER THAN THAT, IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND WE LOVE THEM. SO --

>> SO, SOME SUGGESTIONS THAT WE HAD FOR YOU GUYS WAS TO MAYBE UTILIZE THE CITY WEBSITE FURTHER TO ENCOURAGE EVENTS, AND SO, ALSO ENCOURAGE A GREATER SUBSCRIPTION TO THE CITY EMAIL. SOMETHING WE CAME U WITH MAYBE ADD A SMALL BANNER WITH THE CITY'S EMAIL ASKING FOR A SUBSCRIPTION AND FOR FUTURE EVENTS , IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO KIND OF HAVE ACCESS TO THOSE. WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO IDENTIFY WHY THOSE WITH ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES NEEDS WERE NOT MET, AND PERHAPS, DISTRIBUTE A SURVEY FOCUSING EXCLUSIVELY ON THIS TOPIC THROUGH EMAIL AND SOCIAL MEDIA, AND THEN UTILIZING QR CODES. WE PERSONALLY BELIEVE -- WE HAD A SUGGESTION WE CAN ADD THE QR CODES AT DIFFERENT PLACES OF THE EVENT , LIKE AT THE DIFFERENT STATIONS. WHETHER IT WAS AT THE SLIDES , OR EVEN IN A PLACE WHERE YOU WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER THE RESTROOM, BASICALLY, WHERE RESIDENTS' CONVENIENCES, WHENEVER THEY HAVE FREE TIME, I FEEL LIKE THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER THE SURVEY A BIT MORE THOUGHTFULLY.

>> ALL RIGHT. THAT IS ALL WE HAVE FOR YOU, BUT WE'RE WELCOMING ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE .

>> I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION. THE IPADS, YOU WERE PROMPTING PEOPLE TO ASK QUESTIONS, AND THEN ASKING THE QUESTIONS, OR

WERE YOU JUST RETURNING THEM? >> IT WAS A SURVEY CREATED THROUGH MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS, AND --

>> PROVIDING THE ANSWERS? >> NO. ANSWERS WERE ALREADY CREATED ON THE SURVEY PREVIOUSLY, BEFORE SNOW FALL, THEN WE GO TO THEM, HEY, WOULD YOU LIKE TO GIVE YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT SNOW FALL SO FAR, THEN THEY WOULD ANSWER THE QUESTION, THEN THEY JUST CLICK -- IT TOOK UNDER A MINUTE, BUT --

>> IT WAS MIXED --

>> HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE AT THE SNOW FALL? WAS IT -- ALL RIGHT.

[00:10:09]

AROUND 800. SO, I'M JUST LOOKING AT, LIKE, A RESPONSE

RATE FROM THE SURVEY, SO, 50. >> YEAH. WE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE GO, LIKE, HEY, AND ANY JUST KEEP WALKING. THEY HAVE KIDS, SO THE LAST THING THEY WANT TO BE IS DISTRACTED.

>> SOMETHING AND THERE'S A LOT OF TIMES, THERE WAS FOUR OR FIVE PEOPLE THAT JUST DIDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH. THERE WERE THESE TWO PORTUGUESE MEN. THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING. IT WAS KIND OF -- MAYBE NEXT YEAR, WITH MORE LANGUAGE OPTIONS, THAT WOULD BE SMART. ANYTHING ELSE?

>> GREAT JOB, BY THE WAY. >> THANK YOU.

>> IS THIS ONE EVENT YOU SURVEYED?

>> YEAH. WE WORKED SNOW FALL, BUT THE PARKLAND EVENTS, BUT THIS IS THE ONLY ONE WE PURELY DID SURVEYS FOR.

>> SAFETY VETS. WE WERE IDENTIFIABLE.

>> I BELIEVE QR CODES ARE PRETTY EASY. YOU COULD HAVE A QR CODE CREATED CUSTOM FOR EACH EVENT.

>> DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD WANT THE SURVEYOR TO KNOW.

>> TRUE . BUTTONS, AND THEN PIN THEM ON EACH KID. TELL THE PARENTS TO SCAN IT WHEN THEY GET HOME, SOMETHING TO THINK

OF. >> THANK YOU GUYS. THIS WAS REALLY WELL DONE AND THOUGHTFUL. FOR INSTANCE, THAT YOU GUYS MADE THE DIFFERENT QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAD, FOR PARENTS OF YOUNG KIDS, ANSWERING VS. REPRESENTING THE ACTUAL KIDS' LOTS, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS VERY INTERESTING. I ALSO LIKE YOUR IDEA OF THE QR CODES AT DIFFERENT STATIONS.

BECAUSE, AS YOU SAID, THE PARENTS ARE NOT GOING TO WANT TO TURN THEIR EYES OFF OF THE KIDS AT ALL, ESPECIALLY WITH A LOT OF THE DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES THAT ARE THERE. BUT I WAS THERE AND SO YOU GUYS WITH THE BEST.I DID NOT ANSWER, BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO DISSUADE. I THOUGHT YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB. YOU GUYS WERE OUT THERE, TRYING, BUT AGAIN, THE QR CODE IS A GREAT IDEA. AS WELL AS A FOLLOW-UP, MAYBE, FOR THOSE THAT GO OUT , AND I ALSO REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR IDEA FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION IN PRICE FOR THE THEATER, BECAUSE IT IS THE MOST COMMON WAY PEOPLE FIND OUT, THE WEBSITE. GOOD JOB.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH. AWESOME.

>> ONE QUICK QUESTION. GREAT JOB, GUYS. MENTIONED, TO IDENTIFY THOSE WITH THE ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES. DID ANYONE SPEAK OUT LOUD AT ALL, OR EVERYONE WAS PRETTY QUIET ? DID ANYONE GIVE YOU, PERSONALLY -- NOT FOR ME --

>> THEY'RE MORE THAN WELCOME TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES, BUT I DIDN'T ENCOUNTER ANYTHING LIKE THAT .

>> YEAH. THAT IS ALL I WAS GOING TO SAY. YOU KNOW, THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH. THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR THAT HAVE COME OUT AND HELPED US PARTICIPATE WITH VALUABLE FEEDBACK. EVERY YEAR, WE GET GREAT STUFF TO CONTINUE TO GO OUT AND GROW OUR EVENTS.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS. FEELING COMFORTABLE ENOUGH WITH THE PRESENTATION AND EVERYTHING ELSE. WE'LL DEFINITELY TAKE AWAY A LOT OF YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS MOVING FORWARD. SO, YOU KNOW, LIKE EVEN A QR ON OUR CITY BOOTH, EVEN FOR OTHER EVENTS THAT THEY MAY OR MAY NOT BE AT TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE , IF THEY WANT TO HEAR MORE ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE CITY, THEY CAN GO AHEAD AND SUBSCRIBE TO OUR EMAIL, CITY EMAIL, SO FORTH, OR WHATEVER, AND IN ADDITION TO WHAT YOU WERE JUST ASKING ABOUT, YOU KNOW, I WOULD BE CURIOUS, TOO, TO SEE THOSE QUESTIONS THAT WILL COME OUT OF THE SURVEY SO THAT WE CAN IDENTIFY THOSE. ONE OF THE THINGS I THINK THE CITY HAS BEEN VERY GOOD -- SHE IS ACTUALLY SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE -- OUR A.D.A.

COORDINATOR FOR THE CITY IS JACKIE, AND WE HAVE DONE A LOT OF PROMOTIONS WHEN WE ADVERTISE FOR EVENTS THAT, IF SOMEBODY DOES HAVE A DISABILITY OR NEED A.D.A. ACCOMMODATIONS, IT IS PRINTED ON ALL OF OUR FLYERS FOR THEM TO ALSO REACH OUT TO US SO WE CAN TRY TO MAKE SURE THOSE ACCOMMODATIONS ARE MET .

WHAT IS A, 24-HOURS IN ADVANCE? 24-HOURS IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT. FOR THIS EVENT, WE DIDN'T HEAR FROM ANYBODY IN ADVANCE OF THE EVENT, BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN IT IS NOT OUT

THERE, SO -- >> THANK YOU GUYS, HAVE A GREAT NIGHT. OKAY. PARKS AND RECREATION GENERAL UPDATES.

>> HELLO, EVERYONE, FELICIA TRAINER, ASSISTANT TRAINER A PARKS AND RECREATION. SO, I JUST WANTED TO GIVE YOU SOME OF OUR GENERAL UPDATES ON SOME UPCOMING MEETINGS WE HAVE, MAY 15TH, WE HAVE REGULAR AGENDA FOR A COMMISSION MEETING, AND OUR SNOW FALL. WE WILL BE AWARDING OUR SNOW VENDOR AT THE

[00:15:04]

TIME, IRONICALLY SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT SNOW FALL. JUNE 5TH, WE HAVE ANOTHER MEETING. THE 20TH, WE HAVE A WORKSHOP, AND THEN JULY 10TH, WE HAVE ANOTHER WORKSHOP WITH A REGULAR AGENDA, BUT SOMETHING IMPORTANT, I WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALL AWARE OF, WE DO HAVE THE STATE OF THE CITY , 2024, COMING UP MAY 27TH AT 6:00 P.M. WE ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO ATTEND. THE MAYOR AND COMMISSION COME AND DO A PRESENTATION ON WHERE PARKLAND IS AND WHAT DIRECTION WE'RE HEADING, AND WE THINK IT IS GREAT FOR YOU ALL TO BE THERE, AS WELL AS OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. THERE IS A REGISTRATION THAT IS REQUESTED, NOT REQUIRED, BUT THEY DO PROVIDE , SOMETIMES, SOME HORS D'OEUVRES, SO THEY TRY TO GET A LITTLE BIT OF A NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE .ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE OUR NEXT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING ON JULY 1ST. PLEASE, MAKE NOTE ON YOUR CALENDAR , AS WE WILL BE HERE AGAIN. THEN, I HAVE SOME STAFF UPDATES. SO, I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS TO SHARE, AND A LITTLE BIT OF A SAD NEWS TO SHARE. NICK WILLIAMS, WHO IS CURRENTLY IN ICELAND, AS HE IS GETTING MARRIED, HIS FIANCEE, NOW WIFE, RECEIVED AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY IN NASHVILLE. SO, HE WILL BE LEAVING US, BUT WITH THAT BECOMES A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO PROMOTE FROM WITHIN, AND RYAN MARIANA WILL NOW BE OUR ATHLETICS MANAGER . ADDITIONALLY, FOR SPECIAL EVENTS, ALIEN CURRENTLY WORKS WITH OUR SENIORS. SHE IS GOING TO BE MOVING OVER AND ASSISTING NATALIE AS OUR LEAD PROGRAM SPECIALIST FOR EVENTS.

SO, TO HELP HER -- SINCE OUR EVENTS HAVE BEEN EXPANDING, SO HAVE ALL OF OUR SPECIAL PERMITS. SO, DOES LOOK OUT FOR THE SAME FAMILIAR FACES, JUST NEW ROLES. THEN, WITH THAT, SINCE NATALIE IS OUT OF TOWN, I WILL BE GIVING YOUR EVENT UPDATES FOR TODAY. SO, OUR PAST EVENTS -- MARCH, WE HAD OUR FARMERS MARKET. OUR PARKLAND DAY. ANOTHER FARMERS MARKET AND OUR EXTRAVAGANZA. PARKLAND DAY WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL. WE STILL HAVE ROOM FOR GROWTH, BUT ABOUT 4500 PEOPLE ATTENDED WITHOUT A HEADLINER, WHICH IS STILL PRETTY GOOD. NOT EVERYONE CAN COMPETE WITH SUGAR RAY. WE PLAN ON THIS EVENT CONTINUING TO GROW WITHIN THE NEXT THREE YEARS. YOU'LL SEE A STEADY INCREASE WITH THAT. A LOT OF GREAT FEEDBACK ON HOW TO GET THROUGH THAT EVENT. THEN, IN APRIL, WE HAVE OUR FARMERS MARKET. WE HAD A FARMERS MARKET AUTISM AWARENESS MOVIE AT THE PARK, AND ANOTHER FARMERS MARKET. AUTISM AWARENESS IS A VERY SWEET, GREAT EVENT THAT OCCURRED, THEN OUR MOVIE IN PARK NORMALLY HAS HAD ABOUT 115 ATTENDANT S. THIS YEAR, WE HAD 300 FOR "THE SUPER MARIO WAS " MOVIE. PEOPLE ARE COMING OUT , AND THEN WE JUST HAD OUR FIRST EATS AND BEATS ABOUT EATS AND BEATS SERIES ON MAY 4TH.WE HAD ABOUT 1100 PEOPLE THIS PAST WEEKEND. WE HAD BEATLEMANIA IS PERFORMING, AND WE ALSO HAD AN OPENER, WHICH WAS A BAND FROM DOUGLAS. HB BOULEVARD, THE UNOFFICIAL ROCK BAND OF STONEMAN DOUGLAS, AS THEY LIKE TO SAY, AND WITH THAT BEING SAID, ALL ABOUT EATS AND BEATS CONCERT SERIES WILL HAVE AN OPENING ACT, SO NEXT MONTH'S WILL HAVE PARKLAND MUSIC ACADEMY, WHICH BRINGS US TO OUR UPCOMING EVENTS. MAY, WE HAVE OUR HOMES FOR DOGS EVENT FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL 12:00 , AND AT THIS EVENT, IF YOU NOT AWARE, WE ARE DOING A COLLECTION FOR GOOD, THAT RESCUE. ALL OF THE ITEMS ARE PLACED ONLINE. IT WAS A RECOMMENDATION FROM ONE OF OUR MERITS OF THE MONTH. JOHN BRESSON JR. MADE THIS RECOMMENDATION , AND OUR TEAM JUST WENT WITH IT. IT WAS A GREAT IDEA, AND WE'RE EXCITED AND LOOK FORWARD TO COLLECTING SOME AWESOME ITEMS FOR THAT RESCUE. THIS RESCUE WAS CHOSEN AS ONE THAT HAS PARTICIPATED IN OUR EVENTS IN THE PAST. THAT IS WHY THEY WERE SELECTED. WE PLAN ON ROTATING BETWEEN RESCUES THAT ATTEND.WE ALSO HAVE OUR MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY MAY 27TH AT THE OPERA THEATER. JOIN US FOR THAT AS WE HONOR OUR HEROES THAT ARE KNOW LONGER WITH US , AND THEN IN JUNE, WE HAVE OUR EATS AND BEATS THE FIRST SATURDAY FROM 6:00 TO 9:00 .WE HAVE PARKLAND MUSIC ACADEMY OPENING, AND THEN MAJESTY OF ROCK , THEN WE KICK OFF THE SUMMER WITH OUR FISHING DERBY AT OUR FISHING PIER. SO, PLEASE LET EVERYONE KNOW TO GET THEIR FISHING LICENSES . JUST KIDDING. 12 AND UNDER, THEY DON'T NEED IT. THEN, WE HAVE A MOVIE IN THE PARK, WHICH IS "ALADDIN," 2019 VERSION, COMING UP ON JUNE 21ST. IN JULY, WE

[00:20:03]

HAVE GOOD MUSICIANS FOR OUR EATS AND BEATS , AND THE OPENER IS STILL TO BE DETERMINED HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAE THAT SHORTLY. AS WELL AS ANOTHER FISHING DERBY, AND ANOTHER MOVIE IN THE PARK, "KUNG FU PANDA." WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SHARE THESE EVENTS WITH THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY. THEN, A SPECIAL EVENT PERMITS, IN MARCH, WE HAD A FEW PERMITS , AS WELL AS APRIL. THESE ARE PERMITS THAT HAVE BEEN PROCESSED AND EXECUTED. THEN, SOME UPCOMING EVENT PERMITS THAT WE HAVE, PARKLAND HORSEMAN SHOW, AND THEN A NEW EVENT THAT WE HAVE IS WITH CENTURY 21 AND CALLED WALKATHON. ANOTHER PARKLAND HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION, AND THE FLORIDA SEMINAL CROSS -- LACROSSE TOURNAMENT.

>> DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? NO? SO, THIS PAST EATS AND BEATS, 7 FOOD TRUCKS, 5 DESSERTS, AND 2 ACTUAL HEARTY

MEALS. >>

>> WE COULD PROBABLY ADD AN ADDITIONAL FOOD TRUCK. BASED ON THE CAPACITY . NORMALLY, WE HAD ABOUT 800 PEOPLE ATTENDING THE 10 BEATS. THIS PARTICULAR ONE, WE HAD 1100, WHICH IS 200 MORE.

SO, ANOTHER FOOD TRUCK, YES, SIR.

>> YEAH. FOR SURE. YEAH. IT WAS --

>> YOU ALL ARE AWARE, WE HAD A GOOD VARIETY. WE HAD BURGERS, PHILLY CHEESE STEAKS, WE HAD LOBSTER, WE HAD AN ISLAND, TROPICAL FOOD, AS WELL AS AN ICE -- A CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM -- SOMETHING -- I'M SORRY? FONDUE SOMETHING. YES.

>>

>> ADDING AN ADDITIONAL TRUCK FOR THE NEXT ONE. LET THEM KNOW.

YEAH. >> FOR SURE.

>> IT WAS REALLY SET UP --

>> WHICH -- THE PICNIC TABLES? SO, WE CAN ADD MORE. WE HAD 8 PICNIC TABLES. WE CAN ADD SOME MORE. YES, SIR?

>> MARCH 9TH, I WAS JUST IN MY CALENDAR , -- THE CITY COMMUNICATED -- YEAR. THAT WAS OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR THIS YEAR,

TO GET ALL THE WEEKS. >>

>> WHEN WE HAVE OUR EVENTS, ESPECIALLY THE ONES LIKE APARTMENT DAY AND HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL, THINGS TO THAT NATURE, WE DO COMMUNICATE OUT TO OUR LEAGUE SO THEY'RE AWARE THE UPCOMING EVENT. WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH THEM AND STRONGLY ENCOURAGED THAT THEY UNDERSTAND. PARKLAND DAY AS WELL, TOO, OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE WE WANT THEM INVOLVED IN OPERATE, AND WE WANT THEM PARTICIPATING, IT IS DEFINITELY A GOOD EVENT FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO TAKE OFF WITH AN KIND OF BE A PART OF OUR EVENT AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT SAME WAY.

>> SO, IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE HAVE COME UP WITH A COUPLE OF STRATEGIES TO TRY TO INCENTIVIZE THEM TO PARTICIPATE. THEY'RE STILL IN THE WORKS. SO, COME TO OUR NEXT TWO ADVISORY BOARD MEETINGS, AND MAYBE WE'LL DISCLOSE WHICH

ONE GETS SELECTED. >>

>> YES. >> LAST TWO MONTHS, THE OFFICIAL --

>> I'M SORRY? >> THAT ASKED FOR ALL USE --

INAUDIBLE ] >>

>> YEAH. I WOULD JUST CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR FWCU. THEN, I BELIEVE, I THINK IT IS $10 -- FWC WILL BE ON-SITE.

>> SO, FWC HAS BEEN THERE? >> NOT AS THIS, AS INFORMATIVE.

[00:25:05]

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FISHING? WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN RELEASE, WHAT YOU CAN'T, SO THEY CAN WALK YOU THROUGH THAT PROCESS. HOW TO -- THERE YOU GO. ALL OF THOSE THINGS. OF COURSE. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?

>> I DID HAVE A COMMENT. >> YES, MA'AM.

>> THE PRINCIPAL WAS ALSO VERY TOUCHED WITH HOW WELL YOU GUYS HAVE DONE THE EVENT, AND THEY WERE REALLY, REALLY HAPPY WITH

THE PRESENTATION. >> THANK YOU. YEAH. OKAY? ALL

RIGHT? BRIAN, YOUR TURN . >> BRIAN MARIANO, PARKS AND RECREATION MANAGER. GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY. ALL RIGHT.

SO, PROGRAM UPDATES, WE HAD OUR PARKLAND KIDS DAY CAMP, KIDS DAY OFF CAMP ON MARCH 22ND AND APRIL 10TH FOR THE 22ND, WENT TO THE MOVIES WITH 34 PEOPLE, AND ON THE 10TH, WE WENT TO SO NINJA WITH 51 PEOPLE. SO, THANK YOU. OUR SESSION 4 CLASS REGISTRATION STARTED -- SORRY -- SESSION 4 CLASSES STARTED APRIL 1ST. SUMMER CLASS REGISTRATION BEGINS MAY 20TH, AND THEN SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION BEGAN APRIL 2ND.

FOR OUR SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION, WE HAVE KIDS CAMP, BUT WANTED 50 KIDS IN EACH WEEK, TRAVEL CAMP, WONDERS 25 KIDS EACH WEEK, THEN THE CONTRACTOR CAMPS RANGE ANYWHERE FROM 10 TO 20 KIDS EACH WEEK. THE LAST TWO WEEKS OF KIDS CAMP ARE FULL, CAPACITY 50 KIDS DUE TO US BEING AT THE AMBER THEATER FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS. PARENT NIGHT OUT ACTIVITIES, FOR MARCH, THE B-3 @ LAB APRIL, WE HAD SOME SOFA NINJA COME UP TO US, THEN WE HAD A LASER TAG GAME TRUCK IN MAY. FOR THE SIGN LAB, 59 KIDS, SO FAR, 47, THEN FOR JUST THIS PAST FRIDAY, WE HAD IN THE 40S FOR THE GAME TRUCK. SHE KNEW TRIPS AND CLASSES, WE HAD OUR MONTHLY BREAKFAST SOCIAL , AND MARK, CHAIR AEROBICS FOR WHAT HAPPENED THEN WEEKLY, WE HAD A COOKING CLASS, WHICH HAD -- THAT WAS A TRIP THAT HAD 53 PEOPLE IN APRIL, WE WENT TO THE STRANAHAN HOUSE, WHICH HAD 50 PEOPLE. THE ONLY REASON FOR THAT WAS THE TRIP ONLY ALLOWED US TO BRING 50 PEOPLE. WE HAD A PAINT CLASS, WHICH HAD ABOUT 20 PEOPLE. THE BREAKFAST SOCIAL, AGAIN, WAS MONTHLY, AND THE CHAIR AEROBICS AND CHAIR ZUMBA, WHICH BOTH GET ABOUT 15 OR 20 PEOPLE AS WELL. ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE PROGRAMMING? NO? ALL RIGHT. GO ON TO ATHLETICS. ALL RIGHT. SO, FOR TRAVEL GIRLS SOFTBALL, WE HAD 100 PARTICIPANTS. LITTLE LEAGUE-RUN BASEBALL, 418 PARTICIPANTS. TRAVEL SOCCER, 563 PARTICIPANTS. OKAY? THEY STARTED? NEW HIT/TOSS STATIONS ARE AT DARRYN MOORE. THEY ARE BEING COMPLETED, I BELIEVE, WAITING ON THE HOLE -- THE POLLS AND NEEDING TO BE COMPLETED. I DON'T HAVE AN ETA ON THAT. BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING, WE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH PARKLAND FIRE, WE ARE SCHEDULING TRAININGS FOR SPORTS LEAGUES FOR CONCUSSIONS AND SAFETY, THINGS LIKE THAT. THAT WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR FALL, AFTER WE MEET WITH SPORTS LEAGUES. I WILL BE HOSTING A MEETING WITH NICK ON MAY 15TH WITH THE SPORTS LEAGUES TO INTRODUCE MYSELF AND GET ACQUAINTED WITH ALL THE SPORTS LEAGUES SO I CAN GET READY TO TAKE ON THE NEW ROLE. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME? I WILL TRY MY BEST TO ANSWER ANYTHING, PLEASE.

>>

[00:30:01]

FLAG THIS PAST WINTER --

>> I WAS VERY HAPPY, IT JUST -- YOU KNOW --

>> ALL! >> THANK YOU GUYS.

>>

>> GREAT WORK. >> ANYBODY ELSE?

>> EXCITED TO SEE THESE DEVELOPMENTS.

>> OF COURSE. AWESOME. >> THANK YOU. PERFECT. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT, GUYS, THANK YOU.

>> PARK IMPROVEMENT UPDATES. >> OKAY LIMIT SWITCH PRESENTATION TO REAL QUICK. SO, WEST PRESERVE PARK, NOT MUCH WANT TO GIVE YOU ON AN UPDATE. THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF WORK GOING ON BEHIND THE SCENES, THOUGH, FOR US TO GET OUR 30% PLANS. WE HAVE PROVIDED THOSE COMMENTS BACK, AND THEY HAVE BEEN DILIGENTLY WORKING ON THOSE COMMENTS TO BE ABLE TO GIVE US 60% DOCUMENTS WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS FOR US TO START REVIEWING THOSE. TO GET FROM 30% TO 60% IS ACTUALLY A BIG CHUNK.WE'RE GOING TO START SEEING THINGS IN REHEARSAL WITH WHAT THE BUILDING LOOK LIKE, WHAT THE SPLASH PAD WILL LOOK LIKE, WHAT OUR THEME WILL BE IN THE PLAYGROUND, AND THINGS TO THAT NATURE. WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO SEE OUR SICK TO PRESENT DOCUMENT WHEN IT COMES TO THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.

PART OF THIS PROCESS, SINCE WE DID A CMR PROCESSOR PROCESS THAT IS CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK -- WE HAVE OUR CONTRACTOR ON BOARD NOW. SO, THEY'RE REVIEWING THE PLANNED SIGNS SIMULTANEOUSLY. WHEN WE GET THE CITY PERCENT PLANS, THEY WILL GET THEM AS WELL. 6 WEEKS IN THAT TIMEFRAME, WE WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO SEE SOME OF THE COST ESTIMATES AND BE ABLE TO SEE WHERE WE'RE AT IN REGARDS TO BUDGET AND WHAT IT IS GOING TO COST US TO BUILD THE PARK, START HAVING SOME VALUE ADDED ON ENGINEERING MEETINGS IF NEED BE OR WHATEVER TO GO AHEAD AND REALLY, REALLY REFINE WHAT WE NEED TO FOR THIS PARK. WE WERE VERY EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE 60% PLANS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. THE BATHROOM REMODEL FOR THE PARK HAS BEEN GOING GREAT. IF YOU HAVE BEEN OUT TO TARA MOORE PARK, YOU SAW THE FRONT BATHROOMS WERE OPEN FOR THE EXTRA AGAINST THE EVENT THAT WAS NICE. TO BE UP TO SHOWCASE THE RESTROOMS IN A BEAUTIFUL, SOME OF THE COMETS I HEAR FROM PEOPLE IN THE PARKS OUT THERE IS, WOW, I FORGOT I WAS ACTUALLY AT A PARK RESTROOM. SO, WE'RE VERY HAPPY WITH WHAT IS GOING ON . AS WE HAVE BEEN TALKING WITH HER UPDATES, THERE'S BEEN SOME DELAYS AND HICCUPS WITH REGARDS TO THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE OF THIS, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, WE APPRECIATE EVERYBODY'S PATIENCE, BECAUSE NOW THAT THEY'RE OPEN, YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY'RE REALLY FANTASTIC.WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INSTALL THE AC NOW IN THAT RESTROOM UPFRONT AND EVERYTHING, SO EVERYTHING IS MOVING ALONG. THE BACK BATHROOMS ARE ACTUALLY NEAR COMPLETION TO BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS WELL TOO. WE JUST FINISHED OUR FINAL INSPECTIONS, AND EVERYTHING PASSED ON THAT END. THERE'S SOME PUNCH LIST ITEMS GOING ON, THEN WE'LL BE GOING BACK IN AND INSTALLING THE AC IN THOSE BACK BATHROOMS AS WELL. ANOTHER SIDE PROJECT WE HAVE BEEN DONG IS REROOFING THROUGHOUT TERRAMAR PARK. WE WILL OPEN THE BACK BATHROOMS WHEN THE REROOFING IS DONE. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO OPEN AND OPEN AND CLOSE AGAIN. WHEN IT IS DONE, WE WILL HAVE THE BATHROOMS. WE EXPECT THOSE BATHROOMS TO BE BACK UP AND TO THE PUBLIC WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO. ARE LIBERTY PARK IMPROVEMENTS, JUST TODAY, THE RESURFACING FOR THE FRONT ENTRANCE WAY WAS JUST DONE. IT LOOKED BEAUTIFUL. WE HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH OUR DESIGN TEAM TO FINALIZE THE RESTROOM REMODEL FOR THAT PARK. IT WILL HAVE THE SAME ELEMENTS OF WHAT YOU SAW AT TERRAMAR. THIS BATHROOM WILL LOOK SIMILAR IN REGARDS TO THE TILE, TEXTURES AND EVERYTHING WITH THE COLORS THAT WILL GO ON, AS WELL AS AC AND THIS BATHROOM AS WELL. WE ARE HOPING TO HAVE OUR DESIGN PLANS DONE IN THE FALL, THEN IT WILL GO OUT TO CONSTRUCTION AND GO THROUGH THAT PROCESS. SO, ALL OF OUR OTHER PARK UPDATES, RE-SIGNING OF THE AMPHITHEATER,

[00:35:08]

WE HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU BECAUSE OF OUR EVENT SCHEDULE, WE WILL DO THAT THIS SUMMER. LIGHTING FOR PLANE TRAILS' PLAYGROUND IS EXPECTED TO BE DONE THIS SUMMER. WE HAVE RECEIVED SOME LIKE PICTURES AND ARE WAITING FOR SOME OF THE POLLS TO COME IN, WHICH WE ARE TOLD IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN IN JUNE. WE WILL BE CLOSING ON THE PLAYGROUND FOR A SHORT DURATION AS WE INSTALL THOSE. BUYING TRAILS, PARK CONCESSION IMPROVEMENTS, THE AC AND OUTDOOR PICNIC TABLES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. WE ARE WAITING TO DO THE FLOOR DURING THE SUMMERTIME AS WELL, TOO, WHEN THINGS SLOW DOWN A LITTLE BIT. IN THE PARK, AS A WHOLE, WE ARE TRYING TO ALSO COORDINATE IT WITH OUR CONCESSIONAIRE AT THE SAME TIME THAT WE'RE DOING THAT LIGHTING PROJECT, SO THAT WAY, IT'S A BENEFIT FOR BOTH PARTIES. OUR PINE TRAIL BASKETBALL COURTS, THREE AND FOUR RESURFACING GOAL SYSTEMS WAS APPROVED A COMMISSION LAST WEEK . WE HAVE DONE A KICKOFF MEETING, CORRELATING WITH ARMORED COURTS TO GO OVER OUR PROJECT COURT SCHEDULE. JUST TODAY, IN ONE OF OUR PHONE CALLS, WE WILL KNOW WHEN UNDER PRESSURE SURE IF WE CAN GET THIS DONE BEFORE SUMMER STARTS OR AFTER, BUT NONETHELESS, IT WILL BE COORDINATED IN THE COMING WEEKS. PLANE TRAILS PLAYGROUND. SO, WHAT'S GOING ON IS WE HAD A WARRANTY ISSUE WITH OUR RUBBER SERVICING. AS YOU GUYS KNOW, WE DID THIS PROJECT RECENTLY, REOPENED TO THE PUBLIC, AND EVERYTHING WAS GOING GREAT, THEN WE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH SURFACING, KIND OF SINKING IN THE UNDERNEATH WAS GETTING WAY. WE CALLED THE CONTRACTOR BACK OUT, WE HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THAT PROCESS. IT IS THROUGH OUR WARRANTY ISSUE, BUT WE DID CLOSE IT BACK DOWN, AS OF TODAY, AND WE'RE TOLD IT SHOULD TAKE ABOUT A WEEK TO GO AHEAD AND GET THAT SURFACING ALL FIXED, AND THE PLAYGROUND SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE BACK OPEN. OUR CANOPY REPLACEMENT PANCHOT SINGH TOMAR IS DONE AND COMPLETED. WEATHER SAFETY NOTIFICATION SYSTEMS. WE'RE VERY EXCITED. WE ALL HAVE KNOWN , THAT THE PARKS, THE CONCERN THAT WE HAVE WITH OUR LIGHTNING DETECTION SYSTEM. SO, STAFF HAS DONE A FANTASTIC JOB AT RESEARCHING THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS THAT ARE OUT THERE, AND PERRY WEATHER IS A FANTASTIC UPGRADE WE ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD. SO, WE WERE VERY EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO ROLL THIS OUT. IT IS MORE OF A DETECTION SYSTEM. SO, AS THE LIGHTNING IS GOING ON AND YOU SEE IT, AND IT IS WITHIN A MILE-RADIUS, IT WILL SEND THAT IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION, WHICH WHAT IS REALLY NEAT ABOUT THE SYSTEM, TOO, THERE'S WIDGETS WE WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE ON OUR WEBSITE. SO, OUR LEAGUES WILL BE ABLE TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE WIDGET AND BE ABLE TO SEE EXACTLY WHICH FIELDS ARE CLOSE OR IF THE SENSOR HAS GONE OFF, AND IF THERE'S ANY DELAYS IN REGARDS TO WEATHER THERE'S ALSO THE ABILITY TO HAVE CAMERAS AND LIVE FEEDS. IT WILL NOT DO ANY RECORDING, BUT IT WILL BE A LIVE FEED. IF YOU ARE AT HOME AND WANTED TO KIND OF SEE WHAT IS GOING ON, OR FOR STAFF PURPOSES, WE CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON AND WITH THE FIELD CONDITIONS ARE. WE'LL BE ABLE TO HAVE THAT AS WELL. WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE SYSTEM. WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY THE TIME FRAMES. WE JUST FINISHED UP ON THE PURCHASING SIDE OF THINGS.

ONCE WE GET IT ORDERED AND DELIVERED TO US, WE WILL START ROLLING OUT AN INSTALLATION, SO YOU WILL BE HEARING MORE ABOUT THAT SOON. OUR CONCESSION IMPLEMENT FOR TERRAMAR PARK.

PAINTING, FLOORING, NEW APPLIANCES HAVE ALL BEEN PLEADED. WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR IS THE CABINETS AND COUNTERTOPS TO BE FINALIZED. WE ARE PROCESSING THE PURCHASE ORDER. WE HAVE GONE THROUGH THE PURCHASING SIDE OF IT. SO, ONCE WE PICK OUR FINAL FINISHES OFF OF THAT, THAT PROJECT WILL BE COMPLETE. OUR TERRAMAR PARK BASEBALL TOWER IMPROVEMENTS , AGAIN, PAINTING, AC, FLOORING, COUNTERTOPS, ALL COMPLETED AT THAT HOUR. BY THE BASEBALL FIELDS, WE ARE JUST FINISHING UP THE REQUEST TO BE ABLE TO FINALIZE THE SHUTTERS. TERRAMAR PARK BASEBALL FIELD ONE AND FIVE FENCING AND DUGOUT REPLACEMENT. AS YOU GUYS MAY RECALL, WE DID FIELDS TWO AND SIX LAST SUMMER. SO, WE WERE COMING BACK TO DO ONE AND FIVE THIS SUMMER. WE ARE RIGHT ON SCHEDULE FOR THAT. LAST MEETING, COMMISSION APPROVED THE CONTRACT, AND WE'RE WORKING ON FINALIZING EVERYTHING WITH HG CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, AND ANTICIPATING TO START THIS PROJECT THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE. TENNIS CENTER AND QUICKLY PARK , TENNIS CENTER, THE COURT RESURFACING PROJECT, HAS BEEN COMPLETED SO, THEY CAME OUT, LASER-GRADED AND PUT DOWN ALL THE NEW CLAY. IT IS FANTASTIC, LIKE THEY'RE BRAND-NEW ALL OVER AGAIN. WE HAVE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF COMMENTS AND POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM OUR NUMBERS THAT ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT AND IT BEING COMPLETED. TERRAMAR PARK REROOFING PROJECT. WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT IT. THE BASEBALL TOWER, CONCESSION STAND AND BATHROOMS ARE ALL GETTING NEW ROOFS. THAT PROJECT ALREADY STARTED. WE ANTICIPATE THAT TO BE DONE LATER THIS WEEK. THEN, WE WILL BE UP TO HAVE EVERYTHING READY TO GO.

THAT IS ALL I HAVE. ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON ANY OTHER

PROJECT STUFF? >> MAYBE THE ONE BEFORE, MAYBE

[00:40:02]

THE LIGHTING AT TERRAMAR PARK. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE WAS ANY PROGRESS WITH THAT OR ANYTHING YET .

>> AS FAR AS THE LIGHTING IN THE PLAY GROUND ITSELF?

>> THE PLAYGROUND -- >> YEAH. SO, THE PLAYGROUND OR

THE MAIN -- >> THE MAIN --

>> YEAH. THE MAIN ONE, THE NEW ONE WE JUST REMODELED A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK. YEAH. SO, WE DID GO OUT AND TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE. THE GOOD THING IS THAT THERE'S ALREADY EXISTING LIGHTS THERE. THEY'RE MORE OF THE DOME. I THINK IT WILL BE MORE OF US PLANNING FOR US CHANGING OUT THE HEADS OF THOSE LIGHT TO MAKE IT A LITTLE BIT MORE BRIGHT IN THAT AREA. OKAY.

THE REASON WHY I ASK THAT ALL OF THE'S I'M SORRY -- BECAUSE NEXT YEAR, WE ARE ALSO PROPOSING TO DO SOME LIGHTING ON THE FIELD 6, BECAUSE FIELD 6 HAS ALSO BEEN A LIGHTING ISSUE, SO, EVERYTHING GOES THROUGH WITH THE BUDGET, WE WILL HAVE THAT PROJECT NEXT YEAR AS WELL. THAT IS ALSO IN THE PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR'S BUDGET. AGAIN, IF ALL OF OUR PROJECTS AND HOW WE GO THROUGH THIS -- OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW, WEST PELZER PARK IS A BIG CHUNK OF THAT. SO, WE'LL SEE HOW IT ALL GOES THROUGH WHEN WE FINISH OUR BUDGET WORKSHOPS AND GO INTO, BUT IT IS IN OUR PLANS TO, POTENTIALLY, LOOK AT NEXT YEAR.

>> PARKING. ONE THING THAT CAME UP IN OUR STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION, AS YOU PROBABLY HEARD -- WHY YOU BROUGHT IT UP -- IS THAT THEY'RE ALSO GOING TO BE ADDING BIKE LANES ALONG HILLSBORO BOULEVARD. SO, CURRENTLY, WHEN WE HAVE THOSE DAYS THAT THERE'S MORE CARS, AND THAT PARK , YOU KNOW, ALONG HILLSBORO, FIRST OF ALL, BEING A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT NOW, WHEN THEY AND A BIKE LANE, THEY'RE NOT EVEN GOING TO BE THAT MUCH SPACE OUT THERE AS WELL. SO, WE DEFINITELY HAD -- YOU SAW THE NEED THAT WE NEEDED TO ADDRESS IT, SOONER THAN LATER, SO THAT PROJECT IS ALSO BEING PROPOSED FOR NEXT YEAR. ANY OTHER

QUESTIONS? THANK YOU. >> NEXT ON THE AGENDA , THE PUMPKIN PATCH 2024 -- LAST YEAR , WE MADE DECISIONS -- THERE WAS A LIST OF THOSE -- IT IS NOT -- DON'T HAVE IT HERE --

>> PARKLAND DASH, AS IT WAS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE AND FOR PUMPKIN PATCH, IT WAS INDIANA PRINCESS.

>> LAST YEAR WAS SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF FLORIDA. SO, THEREFORE, THE SUGGESTED ONES, WE STARTED WITH AN ALTERNATE, THEN WE PROVIDED YOU WITH THREE OTHER OPTIONS. SO, THEN, THERE'S ANOTHER LIST . THAT'S THE APPROVED CHARITY LIST FOR THE CITY OF PARKLAND.

YOU WILL SEE THAT LIST AS WELL. WE JUST SELECTED THAT WE COULD GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION REGARDING THE

ORGANIZATIONS. >> YOU LOOKING FOR THEM?

>> YES. WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU TO SELECT ONE FOR PARKLAND DASH, ONE FOR PUMPKIN PATCH, THEN SELECT ONE ALTERNATE FOR

THEM. ONE OF THEM TO ACCEPT. >> OPEN FOR DISCUSSION. ANY

INITIAL REACTIONS OR -- >> IT APPEARS SAFE IS ON YOUR

RECOMMENDED LIST? >> YES, SIR.

>> WHICH ONE, THOUGH? >> WHICH EVENT?

>> PARKLAND -- WE'LL DO THE PARKLAND, ACTUALLY. YEAH. OKAY.

>> DO WE HAVE THE --

>> YES, MA'AM.

[00:45:24]

>> YES. I MOVE THAT WE SELECT SPECIAL FLORIDA FOR THE --

PARKLAND -- >> WHAT WAS THE FAVOR?

>> WE WOULD -- >> SECOND?

>> ALL RIGHT. ALL ELSE IN FAVOR?

>> AYE. >> MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

WE JUST NEED AN ALTERNATE.

>> I DO JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT, TOO, EAGLES HAVEN WAS A BENEFICIARY FOR 2022 AND 2023.

>> I HAD A QUESTION. ON THE EATS AND BEATS, SO, I MEAN, WHERE WOULD THE RESOURCES GO FOR THAT? STAFFING? I MEAN -- THAT'S NOT EVEN ALL OF THIS BECAUSE THAT IS ON THE LIST .RIGHT? THAT IS CONSIDERED A CHARITY?

>> I'M SORRY. I AM NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE REFERENCING.

>> ON THE CHARITIES LIST, IT SAYS, EAT AND BEATS, CITY OF

PARKLAND. DOES THAT -- >> I THINK, HISTORICALLY, IF THERE'S BEEN ANY EVENTS THAT THE CITY HAS DONE IN THE PAST, THAT THERE HAS BEEN SOME BENEFICIARIES, OR SOME FUNDRAISING EFFORTS GOING ON .THEY JUST WANT TO COVER THEMSELVES, AND THAT KIND OF LIST IN THE EVENT SO, THIS LIST CONTINUES TO GROW. GO AHEAD, STEPHANIE.

>>

JUST SORT OF JUMPING -- >> GREAT QUESTION.

>>

>> VERY OBSERVANT. >> DO WE HAVE THE CHRIS FLEXEN

ONE? >> YES. CHRIS FLEXEN WAS THE SAME -- FOR THE PUMPKIN PATCH, THE SENIOR AS EVIL HAVEN, 2022, 2023. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN A BENEFICIARY.

>> GUYS CAN HAVE CONVERSATION. YES, HE WANTS TO SECOND THE MOTION, OR IF YOU WANT TO AMEND THE MOTION .

>>

>> I CAN'T MAKE A MOTION. I WILL MAKE A MOTION FOR THE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TO BE BACK UP FOR OUR --

>> OKAY. PERFECT. >> I KNOW. IT'S ALWAYS A DIFFICULT DECISION, BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT CHARITIES AND SO MANY GREAT CAUSES OUT THERE. SO, WE APPRECIATE YOU GUYS DOING THE WORK AND GOING THROUGH IT, HAVING THE CONVERSATIONS, AND KIND OF HELPING IT OUT. I THINK THAT YOU GUYS DO A GREAT JOB IN ALSO, FROM YEAR-TO-YEAR, UNDERSTANDING TO KIND OF MAKE SURE WE HAD A LOT OF THESE PARKLAND-BASED SUPPORTIVE FOUNDATIONS.

>> OKAY. THANKS, GUYS. OKAY, MOVING ON TO TEAM PROGRAMMING

RECOMMENDATIONS . >> YES. FELICIA TRAINOR, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR PARKS AND RECREATION. AT THE RECENT STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETING, IT WAS EMPHASIZED, THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TEAM PROGRAMMING AND THE NEED FOR THAT IN OUR PARKLAND COMMITTEE. AND FROM THAT CONVERSATION, THE COMMISSION, ALL THEY WERE ADVISED HOW PARKS AND REC, AS WELL AS A LIBRARY OFFERED SOME PROGRAMS FOR OUR TEAMS, WE KNOW

[00:50:01]

IT IS A CHALLENGING DEMOGRAPHIC TO ENGAGE IN, AND THEREFORE, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT WE REACH OUT TO THE ADVISORY BOARD AND SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW WE CAN ENGAGE IN OUR TEAM IMMUNITY . WE CURRENTLY HAVE A TEAM NIGHT OUT MEANT TO BE ONCE A MONTH. UNFORTUNATELY, IT HASN'T KICKED OFF. WE'RE IN OUR LAST ATTEMPT, HOPING , MAYBE, IT WILL JUST BE A SUMMER THING FOR THE TEAMS AS FAR AS THAT. OUR NEXT ONE IS MORE EXTREME ACTION PARK, AS RYAN HAD MENTIONED, AND THAT IS THE ONE THAT WE USUALLY HAVE A CONSISTENT TURNOUT, SO WE'RE HOPING THE SAME, AND THEN THE NEXT ONE IS, SO, IT IS NINJA FOR THE TEAMS? YES, WE HAVE TWO BACK-TO-BACK AS HER LAST TWO -- LET'S SEE, ALSO LOOKING FOR ALTERNATIVE SUGGESTIONS ON THE

WAY WE CAN ENGAGE OUR TEENS. >> OUT OF THE CITY, I GUESS.

FOR FUN. RIGHT? >> YOU HAD THE STATE -- THE ACTION PART? 12 OR 13-YEAR-OLD?

>> YEAH. >>

>> VERY UNSAFE. THINKING, LIKE -- HAVE THEIR BIKES SET UP , RAMPS OR SOMETHING . GIVEN THE AREA OF THIS -- I REALIZE THAT THEY'RE --

IDEA. >> I MEAN -- GRADIENT OF THE GREAT SOLUTION. SO -- HOPEFULLY, THE OTHER PARENTS

AROUND HERE NOTICE THAT . >> YEAH. THAT'S THE KIND OF FEEDBACK WE ARE LOOKING FOR TOO, BECAUSE WE LOOK FOR SOME IDEAS THAT WE THINK ARE GREAT, BUT ULTIMATELY, YOU ARE AROUND SOME OF THESE TEENS MORE LIKE YOU SAID, YOU HAVE A CHILD THAT'S IN THAT AGE GROUP COMING UP WITH IDEAS THAT YOUR KIDS WOULD WANT TO ATTEND , AS WELL AS IF THERE'S ANYTHING WE COULD DO ON AN ADVERTISING STANDPOINT, TOO, ANYTHING IN THAT WAY TO TRY TO GET THEM TO COME WITH THEIR FRIENDS.

BECAUSE WE KNOW IT. >>

>> WE CAN COME WITH OTHERS . AGAIN , WANTING TO -- INAUDIBLE ] WHERE THEY CAME TO HELP US AT THE PARENT NIGHT.

>>

>> THAT'S WHAT THEY THINK. >>

>> ANY CHANCE WE, LIKE, CAN GET THOSE STUDENTS TO DO A SURVEY WITH THEIR FELLOW TEENAGERS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WOULD ENLIGHTEN THEM TO WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THINGS OTHER THAN JUST A SURVEY TO SAY, WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THE CITY OR THE WEATHER , TOO, JUST BECAUSE, A LOT OF TIMES , FRIENDS, THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW . THEY DON'T KNOW HOW GOODRICH CAN BE OR -- AND NIGHT -- INAUDIBLE ] A LOT OF TIMES, NOT LISTENING TO WHAT THEIR PARENTS SAY.

>> GOT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY WANT.

>> 100%, I WOULD SUPPORT HAVING A TEAM LIKE BY TRACK. ALSO, WHEN I VISITED, MILE-RIDE FOR TEENS FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AS

[00:55:05]

WELL. BASICALLY, ONE TO TWO MILE EVENT , HAVE PARAMETERS, MUST HAVE A HELMET , MUST HAVE A CITI BIKE. ONE PERSON PER BIKE, A RULE ON THERE, THEN THEY HAVE VECTORS -- VENDORS -- PEOPLE THAT DO FUN STUFF FOR THE TEENS THERE. AT THE END OF THE EVENT, THEY HAVE COMPETITIONS FOR A BEST BUT, WHATEVER, AND THEY GIVE OUT AWARDS. 100%, I WOULD SUPPORT SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO FEED INTO WHAT THEY'RE DOING. ALSO, YOU ARE THE YOUTH AMBASSADORS TO SAY, IT IS FUN TO HELP THE YOUNGER COMMUNITY, AND I RECRUIT HEAVILY FOR VOLUNTEER EVENTS FOR WITHIN THE CITY FOR THE SCHOOLS, AND THE TEENS COME OUT IN DROVES FOR IT. NOT NECESSARILY A VERY FUN EVENT, BUT IF YOU CAN PARTNER WITH THE CHARITY, HOPING TO HOST AN EVENT , THAT CAN ALSO BE A REALLY GOOD THING TO REQUIRE THE STUDENTS TO SHOW UP WITH STUDENT I.D. , COVERS THE BACKGROUND CHECKS WITH THAT, BUT IF YOU PARTNERED WITH SOME TYPE OF CHARITY WHERE THEY COULD HAVE SOMETHING THAT THEY'RE DOING WITH THEM TO HELP, THAT COULD ALSO BE A GOOD WAY TO GET THEM OUT TOGETHER. BUT THE SURVEY , I AM ASKING THEM WHO, THAT IS OBVIOUSLY THE BEST THING.

>> YEAH. NO. >> GOT THE COMPETITION -- INAUDIBLE ]

>> KIND IN THE OPPOSITE GROUP FOR THE CITY PARK WEBSITE, MAYBE ON SOCIAL , JUST BECAUSE, LIKE WE WERE SAYING, I HAD THE CITY OF PARKLAND WITH AN APP ON MY PHONE, SO I CAN ACCESS THE WEBSITE -- THE APP -- AND UTILIZING THAT SOCIAL MEDIA

OUTREACH THING. >>

>> PUSH, PUSH -- >> WE HAD -- SO --

>> THAT IS GREAT. THANK YOU. >> THE NUMBER OF --

] >> MORE THAN ONE --

>> LESS TO WORRY ABOUT. >> SO, OUR GOAL FOR OUR TEAM NIGHT OUT -- OUR CAPACITY IS 50 FOR THAT EVENT, AND WE HIT IT LAST YEAR FOR OUR EXTREME ACTION, WHICH WAS IN THE SUMMER, SO WE ARE GIVING IT CREDIT TO IT BEING IN THE SUMMER, AND WE DID IT FOR ABOUT EVERY OTHER MONTH FOR THE TEEN NIGHT OUT, AND THE OTHER ONE WERE VERY MINIMAL.

>> SO, UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE HAD -- A FOOTBALL COACH FOR TEENAGE BOYS. MY SON IS 15, BEST FRIEND IS 14, BASKETBALL, SAME EIGHT. THIS IS THE ONE SEGMENT -- THEY'RE JUST FORGOTTEN ABOUT. NOT FORGOTTEN, BECAUSE WE KNOW THEY'RE THERE, BUT THERE'S NOTHING TO DO, BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO OLD FOR THAT 1ST THROUGH 11-YEAR-OLD STUFF, THEN 12, MORE RISKY, WANT TO DO MORE, BUT NOW THEY'RE STUCK IN THEIR HOUSE, SO THEN THEY GO OUT , THEY'RE RIDING AROUND WITH THEIR FRIENDS ON BIKES AND GET POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR RIDING THEIR BIKE. THEY WEREN'T DOING ANYTHING. I KNOW THE KIDS. WHY? THEN, YOU SEE THE PARENTS -- THEY GO BACK AND FORTH -- IT IS A BIG MESS.

HOUSE, OUT OF THE HOME, AND WE HAVE GOT TO GIVE THEM A PLACE TO GO TO WHERE THEY'RE NOT WORRIED ABOUT GETTING POSTED, BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, THAT -- HAPPENS.

>> RIGHT. >> WITH THAT, I THINK, DEFINITELY, HAVING THE PROGRAMS COME TO IS BETTER THAN GOING

AWAY FROM. >> WE DO PROVIDE -- JUST FOR CLARITY PURPOSES THOUGH -- IT IS AT OUR P-REC, WHERE THEY KISS GET DROPPED OFF, AND WE PROVIDE THE TRANSPORTATION. IT IS NOT ASKING PARENTS TO SETTLE THEIR KIDS. IT IS A COOL

[01:00:01]

CHARTER BUS RIDE WITH YOUR CREW .

>> AND THE BATHROOMS. YET. >> WITH NO PARENTS.

>> BUT THEN, THE INDEPENDENTS. RIGHT? SO, THAT'S THE KIND OF THOUGHT PROCESS, YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP THESE KIDS BE INDEPENDENT, BUT NOT REALLY, AND THAT IS HOW YOU WILL ATTRACT THEM, BECAUSE IT WILL BE THEIR DECISION. RIGHT? OF COURSE, ALL THEIR FRIENDS DO IT , SO YOU CAN KIND OF LEAVE THERE, -- OR YOU COULD EVEN DO --

>> OKAY. >> IF I HAVE MY 13-YEAR-OLD , SITS WITH HER CAT AND HER COMPUTER --

>> OKAY. >> EXACTLY THAT. THEY DON'T WANT THEM JUST HANGING OUT WHERE THEY HAVE PEOPLE WATCHING OVER THEM TO TELL THEM WHAT TO DO. I THINK YOU CAN NOW HAVE THE 3RD SPACE, AND THEY NEED TO HAVE THAT AS A SAFE PLACE TO GO. ALSO, YOUR DAUGHTER NOT WANTING TO GO OUT, SOMETHING LIKE THAT , TALKING ABOUT HEAVY ACTIVITIES FOR BOYS, YOU KNOW, TEEN GIRLS, ANY KIND OF CRAFTING EVENT WOULD BE WONDERFUL. YOU KNOW, EVEN SOMETHING, WHEREAS THERE IS A SHARED BOOK READING TIME, HONESTLY, SOUNDS VERY SIMPLE, BUT MY SISTER'S DOG WAS IN JUPITER . THEY GO TO THE LIBRARY, AND THEY HAVE A QUIET TEEN SHARED READING TIME AND SET UP BEANBAGS ALL OVER, AND THE GIRLS ALL WEAR THEIR HEADPHONES, AND THEY ZONE OUT, BUT THEY'RE ALL THERE, IN KIND OF LIKE A PARALLEL PLAY ALMOST FOR TEENS, BUT THEY'RE ALL CONNECTED TOGETHER, AND THEY CAN EXCHANGE BOOKS AND TALK TO PEOPLE ABOUT WHAT BOOKS YOU LIKE TO READ OR DON'T TALK TO ANYBODY. YOU CAN JUST SIT, AND IF YOU WANT TO SOCIALIZE, YOU CAN OR YOU CAN'T, BUT THE CRAFTS ARE ALSO REALLY GOOD FOR THE GIRLS, OR EVEN SOMETHING AS CUTE AS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES.

>>

KNOW BOYS LIKE FOOD , SO -- >> THAT COULD BE . MIGHT HAVE

HIT THE NAIL ON SOMETHING. >> FOR SMALL CHILDREN.

>> THESE ARE GREAT SUGGESTIONS. TANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> YEAH. THANK YOU. I REALLY DO LIKE THE CONVERSATION AND THE FEEDBACK. I LIKE THAT THERE IS A VARIETY, AND I THINK THAT IS, LIKE, A MISSING COMPONENT. SPORTS IN PARKLAND IS WHAT WE DO AND WE DO WELL. RIGHT? SO, WHAT ABOUT THE TEENAGERS WHO ARE NOT IN THOSE SPORTS PROGRAMS? WHETHER IT BE A BOY OR A GIRL, AND PROVIDING AN ENVIRONMENT TO , LIKE YOU GUYS WERE SAYING, I THINK IS SPOT ON. YOU KNOW, PROVIDE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY CAN MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS, AND THEY HAVE A LITTLE BIT, BECAUSE THEY'RE ALSO IN THAT IN BETWEEN STAGE OF NOT NECESSARILY WANTING TO BE TOLD ALL THE TIME WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT, BUT TO BE ABLE TO GROW, EXPAND, AND KIND OF LEARN, YOU KNOW, ON THEIR OWN TOO. SO, I REALLY APPRECIATE, ALSO, THE IDEA OF TRYING TO BE ABLE TO CONNECT WITH A LEADER. WHETHER WE POSTED SOMETHING BECAUSE IT IS NOT IN THEIR WILL HOUSE IN THEIR SOCIAL CONNECTION, BUT MAYBE GETTING A FEW OF THOSE AMBASSADORS, AND THEN THEY CAN SHARE IT ON THEIR PLATFORMS. YOU KNOW? SAY, HEY, LOOK AT THIS WITH EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, I'M GOING TO GO TO IT, WHY DON'T YOU ALL COME WITH ME, AND MAYBE THAT CAN HELP DRAW THEM IN. I THINK LIKE FELICIA ALLUDED TO IN THE BEGINNING, SOME OF THE THINGS THE CITY STAFF IS DOING BETWEEN THE P-RECREATION IN THE LIBRARY SCHOOL, THEY DO A READING, BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE SEEING THE INFORMATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY AS ALREADY THERE ? YOU KNOW, CATCHING ON TO IT TO TRY TO HELP EXPAND AND IMPROVE SOME OF THESE THINGS. SO, THIS CONVERSATION DOESN'T HAVE TO END TODAY. CONTINUE TO THINK ABOUT IT, AND BRING BACK EVEN MORE IDEAS. WE'LL HAVE THIS ITEM UNDERNEATH OUR OLD BUSINESS FOR NEXT MEETING, SO WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU GUYS WHO HAVE STARTED ALREADY -- WE HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF NOTES -- AND IN ÚOUR NEXT MEETING, IF YOU HAVE GOT MORE STUFF , THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS, AS YOU TALK TO TEENAGERS AND TALK TO OTHER PARENTS, KIND OF SEE AND FEEL WHAT THEY THINK THAT WE COULD DO BETTER, THEN WE'LL HAVE THAT CONVERSATION AGAIN NEXT MEETING AS WELL TOO.

>> MONITOR THING. I THINK, FROM A PARENT'S PERSPECTIVE, TRYING TO UTILIZE THE P-REC AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, SO THE PARENTS ALWAYS KNOW THAT THE KIDS ARE GOING TO THAT DESTINATION, THEY'RE NOT HAVING TO WORRY WHERE THEY ARE, AT THE P-REC DOING THIS ON THIS NIGHT, WHETHER IT IS COMING UP WITH SPECIFIC TYPES OF CLUBS, MAYBE A POKER NIGHT OR, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER. I KNOW THAT IS -- GAMBLING -- BUT IT IS NOT . YOU KNOW, WHATEVER.

[01:05:02]

>> IT IS FOR FOOD. >> YEAH. DO YOU KNOW, CLEARLY

GET FOR DATA CHIPS. >> RIGHT.

>> THAT KIND OF STUFF. I THINK IT IS JUST A MATTER OF, I'M HEADING TO THE P-REC, HAVING THOSE KINDS OF OPTIONS AVAILABLE, YOU KNOW, ON MULTIPLE DIFFERENT CHOICES FOR THEM. YOU KNOW, MAYBE EVERY NIGHT THERE'S A DIFFERENT THING. WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT EVENTS EVERY NIGHT THAT WE CAN GO TO. ALSO, MAYBE FINDING A WAY TO GO THAT ROUTE. YEAH.

>> AMBASSADORS -- SUGGESTIONS. WE'LL GET TO THE DRAWING BOARD.

>> COMMENTS FROM STAFF? MOTION?

>> SECOND. >> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR?

>> AYE. >> ADJOURNED.
