WE IMPLEMENTED SOME NEW TENNIS MEMBERSHIPS THIS FALL WITH OUR NEW FISCAL YEAR. THOSE MEMBERSHIPS WERE OUR BIANNUAL MONTHLY AND I DON'T KNOW WHY IT IS MONTHLY TWICE. THAT'S A LEAGUE MEMBERSHIP. FOR OUR BIANNUAL MEMBERSHIP WE HAVE SEVEN. THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE WHO MIGHT ONLY BE HERE FOR HALF THE YEAR IF THEY ONLY COME IN THE WINTERTIME TO STILL GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH OUR TENNIS CENTER BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO UTILIZE IT ALL YEAR. WE HAVE SEVEN OF THOSE OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS. ONE MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP AND THE ONE THAT SAYS MONTHLY AT THE BOTTOM IS ACTUALLY OUR LEAGUE MEMBERSHIP.

CURRENTLY, OUR PARK TOWER IS BEING RENOVATED. THEY ARE REPAINTING THE INSIDE DOING NEW FLOORING, NEW AIR-CONDITIONING, FIXING THE WINDOWS, PAINTING THE OUTSIDE , AND DOING SOME GENERAL UPDATES, SHELVING AS WELL. STILL IN THE PROCESS BUT IT SHOULD LOOK VERY GOOD WHEN THEY ARE DONE. WE HAVE A NEW BACKSTOP SYSTEM THAT WE PURCHASED FOR PINE TRAILS PARK . THAT IS GOING TO BE GOING UP FOR THE LACROSSE SEASON AND IT WILL BE PROTECTING PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING ALONG THE SIDEWALKS AS WELL .
WE HAVE HAD THOSE IN THE PAST. HAVE BEEN SMALLER BUT THIS IS A PRETTY LARGE 40 FOOT BACKSTOP FOR EACH OF THOSE FIELDS. ANY
QUESTIONS? >> WERE ARE WE AT ON THE
>> PRESCIENCE FOR ANY OF THE THREE PRESENTERS? THANK YOU.
>> THANK YOU. >> PARK IMPROVEMENT UPDATE?
ITEM EIGHT B. >> I WANTED TO -- I FORGOT TO MENTION, I LEFT YOU THESE LITTLE BROCHURES ON YOUR SEATS. THIS IS A LITTLE FLYER , BROCHURE PAMPHLET YOU CAN PASS OUT AND SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS, RESIDENTS, FAMILIES , EVERYBODY THAT IS INTERESTED IN HAVING INPUT ON THE PREMIER COMMERCIAL PROPERTY, WHICH IS THE HERON BAY PROPERTY. THERE IS A PUBLIC OUTREACH MEETING ON JANUARY 25TH. THERE ARE TWO MEETING TIMES . ONE IN THE MORNING AT 9:00 A.M. AND THE OTHER AT 6:30 AND BOTH WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CITY HALL.
FOR OUR PARK IMPROVEMENTS, WE ARE MOVING ALONG PRETTY NICELY.
WE ARE AT OUR 30% REVIEW . OUR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK WAS APPROVED AND THEY ARE OFFICIALLY ON BOARD WITH US WORKING WITH OUR DESIGN TEAM, THE CITY, AND THEN MOVING FORWARD AS WE FINALIZE UP THE FINAL CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS.
[00:15:03]
AGAIN, JUST KEEP IN MIND, WE GOT A FINAL SITE PLAN . YOU ARE ALL VERY FAMILIAR WITH THAT. WE ARE STILL NOT AT THE POINT YET TO START MAKING DECISIONS OF ALL THOSE AMENITIES BEING BUILT OR NOT BUT WE WILL GET THERE WHEN WE GET CLOSER TO THE 90%. AGAIN, JUST FOR MEMORY STICK, THE FINAL SITE PLAN THAT WAS APPROVED. BATHROOM REMODEL. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, BRIAN, IF NOT FEEL FREE TO JUMP IN, THE CONSTRUCTION HAS STARTED. THE DEMO HAS BEEN DONE. NEW TILE HAS BEEN DONE. EPOXY FLOORING HAS BEEN DONE. ACTUAL TOILETS, NEW TOILET FIXTURES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AND THE PARTITIONS HAVE ALSO BEEN INSTALLED. UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE GOING TO RUN INTO DELAY. THE DOORS, BECAUSE THOSE MAIN CONCESSION DOORS WERE JUST METAL FRAMES , SINCE WE ARE GOING TO BE MOVING FORWARD WITH PUTTING AC IN THESE BATHROOMS, THOSE DOORS HAVE TO BE CHANGED OUT TO A NORMAL-SIZE DOOR AND WALKED IN AND EVERYTHING ELSE. THE DOOR FIXTURE THAT IS BEING ORDERED IS A LITTLE BIT ON BACK ORDER. IS GOING TO BE A LONGER LEAD TIME FOR THOSE DOORS. WE ARE PROBABLY EXPECTING ABOUT A MONTH DELAY FROM THAT. AS SOON AS WE GET THOSE IN AND GOING, WE WILL BE ABLE TO FINISH UP THAT RESTROOM , REOPEN IT TO THE PUBLIC AND START WORKING ON THE BACK RESTROOMS. DID THAT>> THE ORIGINAL PROJECTED TIME WAS TO BE DONE IN JANUARY. I'M GUESSING IT WILL BE CLOSER TO THE END OF FEBRUARY. LIBERTY PARK IMPROVEMENTS, AS SOME OF YOU KNOW, YOU CAME OUT AND JOINED US AT THE RIBBON-CUTTING. THE PLAYGROUND AND FENCING HAS BEEN COMPLETED. WE WERE ABLE TO STICK TO OUR SCHEDULE AND WE DID GET THAT PLAYGROUND OPEN BEFORE THE THANKS GIVING HOLIDAY EVEN THOUGH WE WERE ABLE TO DO OUR RIBBON-CUTTING UNTIL THE WEEK AFTER BECAUSE OF HOLIDAYS, SCHEDULES AND SO FORTH. IT WAS OPEN AND EVERYBODY IS ENJOYING IT. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PARK. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN BY THERE TO SEE THESE IMPROVEMENTS, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GO OUT THERE. THE FIELD HAS NOT CHANGED AT ALL. THE COLOR SCHEME CHANGED AND UPGRADED A LITTLE BIT, IN MY OPINION I LIKE IT A LOT. FROM THE KIDS THAT WERE THERE, ESPECIALLY AT THE RIBBON-CUTTING, THEY HAD A LOT OF POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND WERE ENJOYING THE PLAYGROUND. IT WAS GOOD STUFF TO HAVE.
SOME OTHER IMPROVEMENTS THAT WE ARE WORKING ON IN THE PARK, REDOING THE RESURFACING OF THAT WALK WAY AS YOU GO IN AS WELL AS THOSE RESTROOMS WILL BE UPGRADED AS WELL . SOME MINOR LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE PARK. WE ARE FINALIZING THE QUOTES FOR THE RESURFACING SO THAT SHOULD BE DONE SHORTLY. AS FAR AS THE RESTROOMS, WE ARE GOING TO START WORKING ON DESIGN AROUND FEBRUARY. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE BECAUSE WE WILL BE USING THE SAME THEME WE ARE DOING AT TERMER AS WE DO OUR RESTROOM REMODEL. MAKE SURE WE HAVE LESSONS TO LEARN BEFORE WE GET INTO UPGRADING THIS RESTROOM AS WELL. SOME OF THE OTHER PROJECTS WE ARE WORKING ON THIS YEAR, RESTARTING THE AMPHITHEATER LAWN. WE TALKED ABOUT THAT BECAUSE OF THE EVENT SCHEDULES . WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT SO THE END OF SUMMER , THE GREAT LAWN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION, I'M HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE FIRST PHASE DONE BEFORE OUR LIGHT UP THE PARK FOR YOU AND HAVE CORDS RUNNING ACROSS THE LAWN IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR BIG EVENT. THAT WAS NICE. WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING A PHASE TWO AND IT IS GOING TO BE ADDING ADDITIONAL BUYER OPPORTUNITIES FOR WHEN WE HAVE VENDORS IN THE FIELD WE WILL BE ABLE TO PLUG DIRECTLY INTO THOSE OUTLETS. LIGHTING FOR PINE TRAILS PLAYGROUND, WE ARE -- EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN PLACED ON ORDER AND WE ARE LOOKING TO BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF SUMMER. PINE TRAILS CONCESSION IMPROVEMENTS, THOSE IMPROVEMENTS CONSIST OF AC, NEW FLOORING, OUTDOOR SEATING AREA, IT WAS APPROVED SO THOSE TABLES WILL BE ORDERED SHORTLY.
THE AC AND THE NEW FLOORING WAS APPROVED UNLESS COMMISSION MEETING SO IT'S A MATTER OF GETTING WITH THE CONTRACTORS AND GETTING IT SCHEDULED AND ALL LINED UP. THE PINE TRAILS BASKETBALL COURTS THREE AND FOUR RESURFACING. IT'S NOT GOING TO TAKE PLACE UNTIL THE END OF BASKETBALL SEASON WHICH WILL BE MAY OF 2024. OUR CANOPY REPLACEMENTS, WE ARE REPLACING THE CANOPY. FOR THE BLEACHER AREAS, AT BOTH OUR PARKS, THAT WAS APPROVED AT OUR LAST MEETING SO THAT HAS BEEN ORDERED AND ONCE WE GET THAT MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES WE WILL START SEEING THOSE. YOU WON'T SEE ANY DOWNTIME IN REGARDS TO THAT. WE WILL BE DOING SOME PAINTING TO THE ACTUAL SUPPORT POSTS SO THE CANOPY WILL NOT ONLY BE CHANGED OUT, BUT ANY OF THE PIECES THAT ARE ON THE SUPPORT BOWLS THAT ARE RUSTED OUT OR NEED SOME ATTENTION, THEY WILL DRESS
[00:20:03]
THOSE AT THE SAME TIME. TAMERA PARK REPLACEMENTS, WE ALREADY STARTED THE DESIGN ON THAT. IT IS ALREADY IN THE WORKS FROM WHEN WE WERE DOING THE OTHER TWO FIELDS AT THAT TIME. WE ARE EXPECTING TO HAVE THE DESIGN FINALIZED AND UP BY THE END OF FEBRUARY AND OUT ON THE STREETS FOR CONSTRUCTION SO THAT WE CAN DO THIS PROJECT THIS SUMMER WHEN IT IS MORE APT FOR OUR SPORTS SEASONS. THAT TAMERA PART CONCESSION IMPROVEMENTS. WE ARE GETTING A NEW ROOF . WE ARE PAINTING THE BUILDING, WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. IT'S PART OF THE RESTROOM . THE NEW PAINT COLORS YOU SEE OUT OF THAT BUILDING IS WHAT IS GOING ON AND THAT WILL BE THE SAME COLOR SCHEME THAT WILL GO WITH THE TOWER THAT NICK TALKED ABOUT EARLIER.AGAIN, THE AC AND EPOXY FLOORING WAS APPROVED AT LAST COMMISSION MEETING. THAT WILL BE SCHEDULED. NEW COUNTERS AND APPLIANCES ARE ON ORDER FOR THE CONCESSION STANDS OUT THERE.
THE BASEBALL TOWER IMPROVEMENTS, NEW ROOF, PAINTING, SHUTTERS, AC, FLOOR, COUNTERS. NICK GIVE YOU AN UPDATE. HOPEFULLY, WE WILL HAVE THAT DONE BY THE END OF THIS MONTH. TENNIS CENTER, QUIGLEY PARK RESURFACING. WE ARE LOOKING TO GET THAT DONE IN MARCH AND APRIL. THE BIDS WERE OUT. HAVE CLOSED. WE DO HAVE A VENDOR THAT APPLIED AND IS WITHIN BUDGET , SO THAT WILL BE GOING FOR COMMISSION APPROVAL AND WE SHOULD BE ON TARGET AND ON SCHEDULE OF GETTING OUR PLAY COURTS OUT AT THE TENNIS CENTER SERVICE. WE GOT SOME SMALL TENNIS CENTER IMPROVEMENTS. HAVE ALREADY PAINTED THAT FACILITY AND WE WILL BE GETTING SOME NEW SINKS AND AN ICE MACHINE FOR THAT AS WELL. YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIOS ON
ANY OF THE PARKS PROJECTS? >> ARE THEY ALSO GOING TO REGRADE THE LAWN? AS OPPOSED TO JUST RESTARTING. I THINK I SEE KIDS PLAYING ALL THE TIME AND THERE ARE CRATERS AND
HOLES . >> THERE IS A TWO FOLD PURPOSE TO TRY TO GET THIS LASER RATED AS WELL. WE ARE GOING TO TRY TO. WHEN WE PUT IT OUT FOR A BIT, WE'RE GOING TO PUT AS A BIT ALTERNATE AS LONG AS EVERYTHING FALLS WITHIN BUDGET, THAT IS WHAT OUR GOAL AND INTENTION IS TO DO. THE SECOND FOLD IS, BECAUSE THERE IS LOW LYING AREAS THAT HOLD WATER.
THOSE ARE THE AREAS THAT GET TORN UP DURING EVENT TIME.
HOPEFULLY, WE WILL BE ABLE TO FIX BOTH AREAS BY DOING THE LASER GRADING AND LEVELING OUT THERE WHEN WE RE-SOD.
>> IS THAT BOTH THAT WE ARE REDOING? THE ONE IN THE
BASEBALL TOWER? >> NO. THE PINE TRAILS CONCESSION. IT IS FOR THE MAIN CONCESSION ONLY. WITH SOME OF THE ICE MACHINE REPLACEMENTS FOR OUR INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM, WE ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO PUT AN ICE MACHINE AT THE ONE BY THE BASEBALL FIELDS AT PINE TRAILS. IT WILL HAVE AN ICE MACHINE. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?
>> WHAT IS THE PROJECT THAT IS GOING ON AT PINE TRAILS THAT HAS GOT SAND AT THE MOMENT? IT'S WAITING TO BE PLACED
SOMEWHERE. I WAS CURIOUS. >> PART OF OUR OPERATIONAL MAINTENANCE PLAN FOR THE YEAR IS, WE VERIFY THOSE FIELDS.
WHEN WE VERIFY THOSE FIELDS AND WE PUT LITTLE STICKS IN THE GROUND AND IT STARTS PULLING UP THE -- IT PROVIDES OXYGEN SO GRASS CAN STAY HEALTHY AND GROW. WITH THE TOP DRESSING ON TOP TO MAKE IT ALL BALANCE OUT. AS PART OF OUR MAINTENANCE PLAN AND OUR OPERATIONAL PLAN THAT WE ACTUALLY JUST STARTED IMPLEMENTING ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, TO MAKE SURE OUR FIELDS WHEN WE ARE WORKING WITH OUR SPORTS GROUPS, THEY UNDERSTAND, THIS IS WHEN DOWNTIME IS SO IT WORKS FOR EVERYBODY THAT USES THE FIELD AND STILL ALLOWS FOR THE MAINTENANCE THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND DOWNTIME AND CLOSURES FOR THE FIELD SPIRIT THAT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THEM HEALTHY. YOU'RE WELCOME.
>> ONE ADDITIONAL QUESTION REGARDING PINE TRAILS COURTS THREE AND 4 FOR BASKETBALL. WE WERE WAITING TO DO THE RESURFACE PROJECT . TO PROJECTS BUILT AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THE BACKBOARDS ON COURTS THREE AND FOUR ARE VERY CHALLENGING BECAUSE MOST OF THE LINES HAVE BEEN ERODED AND WHEN WE TEACH THESE KIDS HOW TO SHOOT, WE TELL THEM TO AIM FOR THE LINES BUT THERE IS NO LINES TO AIM FOR.
>> I SHOULD LET NICK ANSWER THIS, BUT YOU HAVE TO COME UP TO THE MICROPHONE. IT'S IN THE WORKS.
>> WE TOOK NOTE OF THAT. WE JUST ORDERED FOUR NEW ONES AND WE ARE PUTTING THEM UP TOMORROW.
>> NO, WE ARE NOT GOING TO DO DUCT TAPE. WHEN NICK SAYS NEW
[00:25:06]
ONCE HE MEANS WE ARE GETTING THE VINYL TAPE FOR THE BOX THAT WE PUT IN. WE ARE HAPPY TO ALSO SAY THAT WE REPLACED THOSE GOAL SYSTEMS. AS PART OF THE RESURFACING , WE WILL BE REPLACING THE ENTIRE GOAL SYSTEM AS WELL TOO. WE KNOW WE ARE IN SEASON NOW SO THAT'S WHY WE ARE TRYING TO DO THE VINYL TAPE FOR THAT. NO PROBLEM. NOT DUCT TAPE .>> RESURFACING ON COURTS BRESSET, WHAT IS THE
ANTICIPATED DOWNTIME? >> I WOULD PROBABLY VENTURE TO SAY BECAUSE OF THE WORK THAT IS TO BE DONE THERE. THEY WILL DO THAT ACROSS THE ENTIRE THING. THEY HAVE CURE TIME FOR THE NEW SYSTEM TO COME IN PLACE AND SO FORTH. IT SHOULD BE ANYWHERE FROM TWO TO THREE MONTHS.
>> DAY WHERE IT WON'T AFFECT AND THEY WILL BE DONE WITH WHATEVER THEY HAVE PERFORMED THAT DAY TO MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE SO THAT THE KIDS CAN STILL --. THERE MAY BE SOME TEMPORARY CLOSURE TIMES DURING DAY TIME FRAME SO WHEN KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL , JUST FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. BUT THEN IT WILL BE ABLE TO BE SAFE AND
SECURED. NO. ALL RIGHT. >> NEXT UP WE HAVE ITEM 8C.
WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM PARKLAND SOCCER. STATE YOUR NAME FOR THE RECORD. THE FLOOR IS YOURS.
>> THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME TONIGHT. MY NAME IS DOUG CALL I'M THE PRESIDENT OF PARKLAND SOCCER. I HAVE BEEN DOING THAT SINCE PROHIBITION BUT IT HAS PROBABLY BEEN MORE LIKE 20 YEARS. ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO , REC SOCCER COMBINED WITH TRAVEL SOCCER AND AT THE TIME IT WAS GREAT AND IT STILL IS GREAT OTHER THAN BOTH PROGRAMS HAVE GROWN TREMENDOUSLY. WE ARE ON THE WRECK SITE ABOUT 1600 KIDS , ON THE TROUBLE SIDE ABOUT 450 ROUGHLY, 500. WE PLAY FOUR MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. THEIR SEASON IS 12 MONTHS. HISTORICALLY, THE LAST 10 YEARS ROUGHLY IT HAS BEEN ONE TAX RETURN , TWO DIFFERENT BANK ACCOUNTS, TWO DIFFERENT BUDGETS AND WE ARE PROPOSING THAT WE SEPARATE THAT AND LET THEM DO THEIR OWN TAX RETURN . THEY WILL STILL STAY -- WE ARE KIND OF LIKE DIVORCING BUT STILL LIVING TOGETHER SO TO SPEAK. DANIEL WILL INTRODUCE. IT HAS BEEN ON MY BOARD FOR A LONG TIME AS THE VP OF TRAVEL AND HE WILL REMAIN ON OUR BOARD BUT HE WILL TAKE A NEW ROLE AS WELL AND BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE TRAVEL SOCCER PROGRAM. , DIREC MY BOARD FOR MANY YEARS AND WILL REMAIN ON MY BOARD. WE STILL COLLABORATE TOGETHER GOING FORWARD. THEY WILL STILL HAVE -- AND COMPLY WITH . I'M AN ENGINEER. I'M USUALLY IN FRONT OF A WHITEBOARD. I HATE POWERPOINT BUT THEY PUT TOGETHER A 20 PAGE PRESENTATION MAKING SURE THAT THEY , WHICH WILL BE GOVERNED BY US AND DANIEL TO MAKE SURE WE CHECK EVERY BOX ON THE 20 REQUIREMENTS THAT WE MAKE SURE WE COMPLY IN TERMS OF SIGNING OFF ON THE LIGHTING PROGRAM AND BASICALLY EVERYTHING. SOMETHING WE HAVE BEEN DOING TOGETHER WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO TOGETHER. DANIEL, IF YOU WANT TO SAY A
FEW WORDS. >> DANIEL NTILIKINA. PARKLAND RESIDENT SINCE 2010. THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A NEW VENTURE .
THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE ARE GOING TO LEARN OR HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. BASICALLY, IT WILL BE A CONTINUATION OF WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING. WE HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY NOW AND LIKE DOUG MENTIONED, WE WILL STILL WORK TOGETHER AM I STILL HAVE A LOT OF PROJECTS THAT WE HELP OUT WITH ON THE WRECK SIDE. WE NEED THAT LITTLE BIT OF BREAKAWAY FOR THE TAXES MAINLY AND TAX RETURNS AND MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY . IF YOU GUYS ALLOW US
TO START A NEW COMPANY . >> THAT'S THE WAY IT USED TO BE WHEN I JOINED THE BOARD PROBABLY 25 YEARS AGO MY DAUGHTER WAS FOUR YEARS OLD. SHE IS GOING TO BE 30 NOW.
THEY WERE TO TOTALLY INDEPENDENT PROGRAMS AND LIKE I SAID ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO WE TOTALLY JOINED FORCES AND
[00:30:02]
MARKED TOGETHER. WE HAVE GROWN SO BIG IT MAKES SENSE TO SEPARATE THEIR . JUST THE ARROW? BASICALLY, LIKE WE SAID, IT'S GOING TO FOLLOW THE SAME THING WE HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. WHEN WE TOOK OVER 10 YEARS AGO THERE WAS ABOUT 70 KIDS IN TRAVEL SOCCER. WE GREW TO 535 KIDS AND WE HAVE BEEN WORKING THE LAST FEW WEEKS WITH CHRISTINE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE KNOW WHAT THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CITY ARE , AND WE ARE SETTING UP THE NEW -- TO FOLLOW WHAT THE CITY REQUIRES , GOING THROUGH THEIR GUIDELINES INCLUDING INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AND RULES ABOUT RESIDENCY AND CHARGING FOR THE OUT-OF-TOWN RESIDENTS THAT WE HAVE . BASICALLY, THE PRESENTATION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO THE CITY, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A COPY WE CAN FORWARD IT TO YOU GUYS. ANY QUESTIONS? IT'SPRETTY SIMPLE PROCESS . >> IT WILL REMAIN THE SOCCER CLUB AND WE WILL HAVE A NEW NAME?
>> IT'S GOING TO BE PRETTY SIMILAR.
>> PER THE CITY SPORTS POLICY, THE CITY RECOGNIZES ONE REC PROGRAM AND ONE TRAVEL PROGRAM AT AMY -- ANY GIVEN SPORT. HE WILL BE WITH THE RECOGNIZED SOCCER TRAVEL PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF PARKLAND SOCCER CLUB WILL BE THE RECREATION ?
>> CORRECT. >> NO DIFFERENT OTHER THAN A NEW NAME FOR THE TROUBLE SIDE AND THEIR BOARD AND COMPLIANT WITH THAT 20 REQUIREMENTS PER THE CURRENT SPORTS POLICY.
>> HOW MANY MEMBERS OF TRAVEL SOCCER?
>> RIGHT NOW WE HAVE ABOUT 535 KIDS. ABOUT 58%. YEAH.
>> ON THE REC SIDE ARE LIKE 98%. PROBABLY 98. WE JUST PAID 10,000 SOMETHING . WE COLLECT THAT UP FRONT. WE ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING GREAT THAT I WISH WE DID 20 YEARS AGO THROUGH GOOGLE MAPS. ALLISON IS MY REGISTRAR, WORKED WITH TEAM SIDELINE WHICH IS OUR REGISTRATION APP AND OUTLINED THE EXACT BORDER OF PARKLAND. IF YOU WERE NOT A RESIDENT, YOU GO TO REGISTER, IT WON'T LET YOU PASS GO UNTIL YOU COLLECT THAT $100 NONRESIDENT FEE. AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN THEY SAY WE NEED TO REPORT, THERE IS THE REPORT, THERE IS THE TOTAL NUMBER AND CUT A CHECK OR HIT MY CREDIT CARD KIND OF THING. WE USED TO HAVE TO GO AFTER BECAUSE WE WOULD GET NOTIFIED BY THE CITY, HEY, THESE 25 PEOPLE NEVER PAID AND IT WAS A BIG JOB FOR GOING BACK TO CHASE THESE PEOPLE DOWN AND LITERALLY THREATEN THEM AND SO YOUR CHILD CAN'T LAY SATURDAY UNLESS YOU GO TO THE CITY, GET THE CARD AND PAY US. NOW IT'S BOOM BOOM BOOM DONE. SAVED US HOURS,
LITERALLY. >> ARE YOU DONE WITH YOUR
PRESENTATION? >> OH, YEAH. WE WILL OPEN UP FOR QUESTIONS FROM ANY OF THE BOARD MEMBERS.
>> I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I THINK THIS IS JUST A CONTINUATION OF WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING. A TECHNICAL THING.
I'M ALL IN FAVOR TO MAKE A MOTION TO ALLOW THEM TO SEPARATE AND RECOGNIZE NEWCO OR WHATEVER THE NAME IS AS THE TRAVEL PROGRAM RECOGNIZED BY THE CITY . ARE YOU GOING TO
STAY PARKLAND SOCCER CLUB? >> WE ARE NOT CHANGING. WE
ALREADY HAVE OUR OWN --. >> THE RECREATIONAL PROGRAM, I WOULD MAKE THAT MOTION TO PUT IT ONTO THE COMMISSION TO
RECOMMEND THIS. >> RECOMMEND TO THE COMMISSION.
DISCUSSION? I DID HAVE ONE QUESTION FOR STAFF IF I COULD.
OBVIOUSLY , THIS PRESENTATION IS QUITE DETAILED. THERE IS 20 ITEMS THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO READ.'S STAFF SET ASIDE THAT THEY MET ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CITY AND THIS IS NOT GOING TO CAUSE ANY ISSUES OR CONCERNS?
>> YES. I RECOMMEND THIS WILL NOT CREATE AN IMPACT TO WORKLOAD OR CHANGE ANYTHING IN REGARDS TO HOW WE INTERACT AND DEAL WITH PARKLAND SOCCER WEATHER REC OR TRAVEL PROGRAM AND ALL OTHER REQUIREMENTS ARE VERY WELL AWARE OF AND HAVE COMPLIED . THERE ENTITY HAS NOT BEEN FORMALIZED YET , BUT WITH THIS APPROVAL , THEY WILL COMMIT TO DOING ALL THOSE AND THEN WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION THEY ARE AWARE OF IT AND HAVE PROVIDED SUFFICIENT INFORMATION TO SUPPORT THAT AND THEY WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THOSE
REQUIREMENTS. >> I HAVE SOME ADVICE FOR YOU
[00:35:07]
MOVING FORWARD. LIMITED FIELD SPACE IN THE CITY, SO MAKE SURE WHILE EVERYBODY IS LOVEY-DOVEY RIGHT NOW, MAKE SURE YOU DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO TO STAY THAT WAY BECAUSE YOU WANT TO END UP BEING HAVING FACTIONS COMPETING FOR FIELD SPACE. IT DOESN'T WORK OUT FOR ANYBODY LET ALONE NICK WHO WAS PULLINGHIS HAIR OUT. >> WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 10 YEARS SO WE KNOW WHAT THE CHALLENGES ARE.
>> I'M ON THE FIELD NORTH OF 20 HOURS A WEEK, FROM SATURDAY WITH 18 TEAMS AND TWO DIVISIONS. WE START AT 9:00 AND THEN AT 6:00 SATURDAY BY 7:00 I'M ON THE COUCH WITH A COLD BEVERAGE AND EXHAUSTED. I HAVE NEVER MET ANY OF YOU GUYS. I'VE KNOWN HOWARD FOR YEARS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME TONIGHT .
KUDOS TO THE CITY AND ALL OF THE SUPPORT WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM CHRISTINE, NICK AND THEIR STAFF, THE RANGERS ARE ALWAYS OUT THERE HELPING US AND THEY DO A GREAT JOB.
>> I THANK YOU FOR A GREAT PRESENTATION. I NOW LIKE TO CALL THE QUESTION UNLESS ANYBODY HAS ANYTHING FURTHER.
ALL IN FAVOR? I'M LOOKING FOR THE VOTE NOW. ALL IN FAVOR? AYE . ANY OPPOSED? OKAY. RECOMMENDATION PASSES
[10. Comments from Staff]
UNANIMOUSLY. THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN.>> I THINK WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE. WE JUST WANTED TO REGROUP ON THAT. YOU MADE THE RECOMMENDATION TO MOVE FORWARD , SO I WILL SCHEDULE IT TO GO FOR COMMISSION APPROVAL FOR THE JANUARY 24TH MEETING AT THE NEXT COMMISSION MEETING , AND BASICALLY MAKE THAT NAME CHANGE IN THE SPORTS POLICY TO RECOGNIZE TRAVEL SPORTS AS A NAME THAT THEY ARE GOING TO GIVE ME THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. RIGHT? YOU WILL GIVE ME A NAME, RIGHT? AND THEN WE SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO ONCE COMMISSION PASSES IT IT WILL GO INTO EFFECT. REALLY QUICK, I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO DO ANY LAST MINUTE COMMENTS SO I WILL MAKE THEM RIGHT NOW SINCE I'M HERE. I DON'T MEAN TO JUMP AROUND BUT TWO THINGS, ONE, I WANTED TO ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE BOARD WAS AWARE OF OUR CONCESSION SERVICES CONTRACT WAS UP. IT WAS A FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT AND WHAT WAS A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT WITH THREE ONE-YEAR RENEWALS. WE EXTENDED ALL THREE RENEWALS TO OUR CURRENT CONCESSION HERE SO WE ARE OUT OF THE RENEWAL OPPORTUNITY AND IT HAS GONE BACK OUT TO BID. IT IS CURRENTLY RIGHT NOW OUT ON THE STREETS. THERE ARE A FEW VENDORS THAT ARE LOOKING AT IT. I CAN'T TELL YOU WHO IS ACTUALLY GOING TO SUBMIT OR NOT. OUR CURRENT PROVIDER IS INTERESTED. I DO KNOW THAT. WHEN THE CLOSES WE WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON WHERE WE ARE AT THAT PROCESS.
IT MAY BE OUR SAME CONCESSION GOT OR WE MAY BE MAKING A TRANSITION WITH HIS IS WHEN HIS CONSTRUCT EXPIRES. AND YOU HAD MENTIONED PARKLAND A. I WANTED NATALIE TO COME UP TO SECOND SO YOU COULD ALL BE FAMILIAR BECAUSE BY THE TIME WE MEET AGAIN, PARKLAND DAY IS GOING TO BE HERE. I'M GOING TO LET YOU GIVE UPDATES. PLEASE GET THE INFORMATION AND WORD ON THE STREET OUR PRINT APPLICATION IS OUT THERE. I KNOW SHE IS NEEDING MORE ENTRIES. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS COMING UP NEXT MONTH . SHE WILL GIVE YOU THE DETAILS. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT PARKLAND DATE, ASK AWAY SO YOU CAN HELP US SPREAD THE WORD FOR IT. THANK YOU.
