PARKS AND REC GENERAL UPDATES. GOOD EVENING, CHRISTINA GARCIA, SENIOR DIRECTOR OF PARK OPERATIONS. DROPPING PENS. I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE A FAMILIAR FACE YOU GUYS MAY HAVE SEEN ALREADY AROUND TOWN, HE IS JOINING US TONIGHT, ANOTHER MEMBER OF OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM, RYAN. HE IS OUR PARKS AND RECREATION COORDINATOR OVER AT THE P-RECOLLECTION SO YOU SEE HIM A LOT OVER THERE RUNNING AND HANDLING ALL OF THOSE PROGRAMS THAT TAKE PLACE AT P REC. JUST A COUPLE OF MEETINGS THAT I WANT TO GO OVER BEFORE WE GET STARTED WITH OUR UPDATES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AND WHAT WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING OVER THE NEXT COUPLE AND -- IN THE TWO FUTURE MONTHS.

FIRST THING IS I SENT EVERYBODY AN EMAIL ABOUT THE STATE OF THE CITY.

THE MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY MAY 10TH AT 6:30 P.M.

I'VE ASKED YOU TO ALL PLEASE REGISTER AND PROVIDED THAT LINK. IF YOU DID NOT GET THAT EMAIL OR NEED THE LINK AGAIN, PLEASE SHOOT ME AN EMAIL, I'LL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO EXTEND TO YOU.

BUT WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO BE A PART OF THE STATE OF THE CITY ON WEDNESDAY MAY 10TH THAT IS

GOING TO BE HOSTED BY OUR CITY, MAYOR AND COMMISSION. >> THE NEXT ONE WILL BE HE MAY Y 3RD, JUNE 17TH. AND OUR NEXT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING WILL BE JULY 3RD, THE MONDAY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY. JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU GUYS ARE ALL STILL GOOD WITH THAT DAY AND THERE ARE PEOPLE -- EVERYBODY WILL BE IN TOWN AND WE'LL BE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD

WITH -- OKAY. BUT THE REST OF THE BOARD? >> I BELIEVE WE VOTED TO --

>> TO WAIVE THAT. IT'S NOT ON THE CALENDAR. MY MISTAKE THEN.

>> THEN WE WILL BE OFF FOR THE SUMMER BREAK AND OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE SINCE THE FIRST MONDAY IN SEPTEMBER IS A HOLIDAY, WE WILL NOT MEET AGAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER 18TH.

OKAY. SO IT'LL BE THE THIRD MONDAY OF SEPTEMBER.

I WILL SEND OUT REMINDER EMAILS. SO I WILL TURN IT OVER TO FELICIA WHO WILL GIVE UPDATES ON

THE PROGRAMS AND CLASSES. >> FELICIA TRAINER, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION. OUR KIDS DAY OFF CAMP FOR APRIL REACHED OUR MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF 50 KIDS. OUR SPRING BREAK CAMP DID AS WELL.

OUR SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION, AS YOU KNOW, FILLED UP VERY QUICKLY, AND WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE WE HAVE STARTED TAKING CHILDREN OFF THE WAIT LIST.

WE ARE CURRENTLY AT 90 CHILDREN, AND WE STARTED AT 55, AND WE ARE IN THE HIRING PROCESS.

WE HAVE A LOT OF CANDIDATES THAT ARE GOING THROUGH. SO WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO

[00:05:04]

PULLING MORE CHILDREN OFF OF THE WAIT LIST AND EXPANDING OUR SUMMER CAMP.

WE STILL HAVE SPACE AVAILABLE FOR OUR CONTRACTOR CAMP, WHICH IS THE BASKETBALL CAMP, 5, 6, 7, 8, DANCE, THE ATHLETIC REPUBLIC CAMP AS WELL AS OUR TRAVEL CAMP WHICH IS FOR MIDDLE-SCHOOL STUDENTS. THEN WE ALSO HAVE HAD SOME SENIOR TRIPS.

THEY WENT TO MICCOSUKEE INDIAN VILLAGE IN MARCH AND THE JUNGLE QUEEN IN APRIL, AND THE JUNGLE QUEEN WAS THE HIGHEST ATTENDED SENIOR PROGRAM TRIP THAT WE'VE HAD.

WE HAD 94 SENIORS ATTEND THE TRIP. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE TOOK TWO BUSES. AND OUR SENIOR PROGRAMMING HAS EXPANDED SIGNIFICANTLY COMPARED TO WHAT IT WAS LAST YEAR. WE ARE CURRENTLY AT 231 SENIORS THAT ARE NOW ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN OUR TRIPS AND OUR CLASSES. SO WE HAVE A COOKING CLASS THAT IS COMING UP ON MAY 5TH AND MAY 17TH, WE WILL BE DOING A TRIP TO FAIR CHILDS -- FAIRCHILDS TROPICAL BOTANICAL GARDENS. IT DOES NOT FIT MORE THAN 55 SENIORS BUT WE'LL BE BACK IN JUNE AND TAKING MORE AGAIN. AND THEN THOSE ARE SOME OF THE FITNESS CLASSES THAT WE HAVE IN MARCH, APRIL, AND IN MAY WITH WE CONTINUE THE SAME FITNESS CLASSES AS WELL AS A COOKING CLASS THAT I MENTIONED AND THE TRIP.

>> ANY QUESTIONS? >> THEY'VE ASKED FOR MORE OF WHAT WE'VE OFFERED AND IT IS GRANT DRIVEN. SO WE'RE DOING OUR BEST TO FIRST JUST ACCOMMODATE THE LARCH NUMBER THAT WE HAVE. AND MARCUS WHO RUNS THE SENIOR PROGRAMMING HAS DONE A FANTASTIC JOB. WE ACTUALLY JUST ADDED A HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLASS WHICH IS FRIDAY ON MAY 19TH AND WE'RE HOPING TO ADD A TECH CLASS SERIES IN THE COMING MONTHS, AS WELL. SO, YES, THERE'S INTEREST AND WE'RE WORKING ON IT, AS WELL.

>> THANK YOU. >> NEXT NATALIE FOR EVENTS. >> GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY.

THIS IS NATALIE, SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR. FOR MARCH WE HAD THE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF THE CAR SHOW, THE ATTENDANCE THAT WE HAD WAS 4,500 FEEM PEOPLE.

THOSE WERE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FARMERS MARKET AND WE HAD THE PARADE AND THE MAIN EVENT.

FOR THE PARADE WE HAD 1,500 PEOPLE ATTENDING AND THE MAIN EVENT WAS 7,500 PEOPLE.

SO WE HAD THREE SPONSORS FOR THAT EVENT. ALSO THE FARMERS MARKET CROP FAIR, AND THE ATTENDANCE FOR THAT EVENT WAS 4,000 PEOPLE. WITH AN ATTENDANCE OF 300 PEOPLE. >> THE UPCOMING EVENTS FOR MAY AND FOR JUNE... WE'RE HAVING THIS SATURDAY EATS AND BEATS, OUR BAND IS GOING TO BE PRIVATE STOCK, THIS SATURDAY MAY SIXTH FROM 7:00 A.M. TO 9:00 P.M.

AND WE ALSO HAVE THIS HOMES FOR DOGS ON SATURDAY MAY 20TH FROM 9:00 A.M. TO NOON AT THE PARK AND PARK. WE ALSO HAVE A MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY ON SUNDAY MAY 28TH AT 5:30 TO 7:30 P.M. [00:10:06]

AND THE UPCOMING EVENT FLAMENTS WE'RE GOING TO HAVE IN MAY IS PARKLAND MORSEMAN ASSOCIATION SHOW, LA CROSSE AND FOR JUNE IT WILL BE FOR THE PARTNER ASSOCIATION.

THAT IS ALL. DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS?

>> JUST ONE. PARKLAND DAYS, 7,000 PEOPLE. THAT'S A LOT.

DO WE HAVE A SENSE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE CAME FROM PARKLAND AND HOW MANY PEOPLE IN FROM OTHER

PLACES. >> NO. >> NO IDEA.

I IMAGINE SOME. >> I DON'T HAVE A NUMBER FOR THAT, YEAH.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? >> OKAY, THANK YOU. >> NICK WILLIAMS, PARKS AND RECREATION MANAGER. ED FOR MARCH AND APRIL, OUR RECREATION GIRLS SOFTBALL HAD 155 PARTICIPATES, THE TRAVEL SOFTBALL PROGRAM WITH 75. THOSE CROSS OVER A LITTLE BIT.

LITTLE LEAGUE HAD 493 PARTICIPATES, BUDDY TENNIS, WITH WHICH JUST STARTED UP RECENTLY, GREW A LOT. THEY ACTUALLY HAVE 214 PARTICIPATES IN TOTAL.

TRAVEL SOCCER HAS 401 PARTICIPATES. TRAVEL BASEBALL HAS 118 PARTICIPATES. RECREATION AT LACROSSE 241, RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL 1180 PARTICIPATES AND OUR CURRENT ADULT COED SOFTBALL HAS 11 TEAMS AND OUR ADULT FOOTBALL HAS 10 TEAMS. FOR OUR TENNIS LEAGUES, WE OFFERED 22 LEAGUES AND HAD A TOTAL OF 195 PARTICIPATES, AND THEN FOR THAT SAME TIME PERIOD WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR TENNIS LESSONS, WE HAD 562 LESSONS AND THAT WAS SPREAD AMONGST 166 DIFFERENT PARTICIPATES.

FOR SOME OF OUR ATHLETIC PENDING CONTRACTS AND 11 CURRENT EXECUTED TRAIN CONTRACTS.

THE L.E.D. UPGRADES AT THE TENNIS CENTER ARE COMPLETE. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THEM, IT COMPLETELY CHANGES OUR 10 THINKS THERE AT NIGHT. SO WE'RE PROUD OF THAT.

LACROSSE ENDED JUST THIS WEEKEND ON SATURDAY. ADULT COED SOFTBALL AND KICK BALL ARE CONTINUING TO RUN SUCCESSFULLY. BASKETBALL WILL BE ADDED IN JUNE, YOU'LL SEE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE FOR THAT ON WEDNESDAY. AND THE INVITATIONAL WILL BE OCCURRING ON MAY 20TH AND THE 21ST. ANY QUESTIONS?

ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU. >> OKAY. MOVING ON TO PARKLAND

IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATES. S. >> GOOD EVENING, AGAIN.

CHRISTINE GARCIA. I'M GOING TO GO THROUGH ALL OF OUR PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING DILIGENTLY ON. TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE WHERE WE'RE AT WITH PINE TRAILS PARK PLAYGROUND, WE HAPPY TO SAY THEY'RE A LITTLE BIT AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND MOVING ALONG VERY NICELY. THEY HAVE COMPLETED THE INSTALLATION OF ALL OF THE NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT THAT WE WERE REPLACING AS WELL AS THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW SWING SET. THEY ARE WORKING ON THE PORT IN PLACE AS WE SPEAK.

SO WE'RE ANTICIPATING THE END OF THE MONTH, GIVEN JUNE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE THAT PLAYGROUND BACK OPEN DEPENDING IF ALL WEATHER GOES WELL. AND AS YOU GUYS KNOW, LAST THURSDAY WE DID OUR RESIDENCE FORUM. IT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL.

OUR RESIDENTS CAME OUT AND WAS ABLE TO GIVE US SOME GOOD DIALOGUE AND FEEDBACK.

I SAW A COUPLE OF YOU GUYS OUT THERE ENGAGED. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CONTINUING TO BE A PART OF THIS PROCESS, AND WE ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS PARK AS WE CONTINUE TO MOVE ON. THE ONLINE SURVEY WILL OPEN THIS THURSDAY MAY 4TH, AND IT WILL CLOSE ON FRIDAY MAY 19TH. OUR COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT WILL PUSH THAT OUT THROUGH ALL OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AS WELL AS OUR WEBSITE. I WILL SHARE THE LINK WITH YOU GUYS AS WELL, TOO, IF YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH THE RESIDENT SO WE CAN GET AS MUCH PUBLIC INPUT ON THAT SURVEY WOULD BE GREAT. AFTER THAT SURVEY CLOSES, THE CPH PEOPLE WILL FINALLIZE ALL OF THE PUBLIC INPUT AND WE'LL COME UP WITH A SUGGESTED FINAL DESIGN PLAN TO BRING BACK TO A WORKSHOP TO COMMISSION ON WEDNESDAY JUNE 21ST. ONCE WE HEAR THE FEEDBACK FROM THAT AND WE ARE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH A FINAL CONCEPT, WE ANTICIPATING WE WILL HAVE TO THEN PREPARE THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AT THAT TIME SO WE LOOKING TO POTENTIALLY START THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2024. AND THEN THE CONSTRUCTION WE ARE ANTICIPATING FOR THIS PARK

SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 18 MONTHS. >> TERRA MAR PARKING. WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT POTENTIALLY

[00:15:04]

ADDING ADDITIONAL PARKING SPACES TO THE PARK. AS YOU KNOW WE ALREADY COMPLETED ONE PROJECT LAST YEAR IN REGARDS TO SPENDING FIELDS C AND D AND ABLE TO ADD 19 ADDITIONAL PARKING SPACE ALREADY. FINDING OUT THAT'S STILL NOT ENOUGH AND WE'RE STILL RECEIVING CARS PARKING ON HILLSBOROUGH BOULEVARD, THE IDEA WAS FOR US TO EXPAND ADDITIONAL PARKING WITHIN THE PARK. THESE WERE OUR -- A COUPLE ALTERNATIVES THAT WE LOOKED AT, AT COMMISSION WORKSHOP ON MARCH 15TH, WE WERE GIVEN DIRECTION TO POTENTIALLY LOOK AT SOME ADDITIONAL LAND JUST NORTH OF THE PARK WHERE THE POWER LINES ARE AND THE POSSIBILITY OF MAYBE EXPANDING THE FOOTPRINT OF THE PARK. SO AS OF RIGHT NOW, AND WHAT WAS DISCUSSED MORE RECENTLY AT THIS PROJECT, HAS BEEN PUT ON COLD AND COULD BE POTENTIALLY A PROJECT WE WILL DO IN THE FUTURE. BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW IT'S ON HOLD UNTIL WE CAN FIGURE THINGS OUT. TEAR MAR BATHROOM REMODELS, WE ARE -- WE HAVE FINALIZED UP THE PLANS. TERRA MAR. WE ARE EXCITED THAT WE'LL BE REMODELING BOTH BATHROOMS, HAVE NEW PARTITIONS, FLOORING, SINKS AND TILED WALLS.

THOSE ARE A COUPLE OF THE COLOR PALLETS WE GOING WITH. ONE SET OF BATHROOMS WILL BE THAT BLUE TONE, AND THEN THE GREENISH TONE ON THE BOTTOM PALLET WILL BE THE OTHER SET OF BATHROOMS. SO WE LOOKING TO MOVE FORWARD AND GO OUT TO BID AND WE ARE PROJECTING FOR COMMISSION APPROVAL TO BE DONE IN JULY WITH POTENTIALLY CONSTRUCTION STARTING BY SEPTEMBER OF 2023. LIBERTY PARK PLAYGROUND RENOVATIONS, AS WE'VE BEEN TALKING, WE ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE THE FEEL OF THIS PLAYGROUND.

THIS WAS A COMMUNITY BUILT PROJECT AND WE UNDERSTAND THAT. BUT IT HAS REACHED ITS LIVELIHOOD. FOR SAFETY REASONS WE WENT IN AND WE'VE ALREADY DONE A LOT OF THE STRUCTURAL WORK AND SO NOW WE WILL BE GOING BACK AND REPLACING EACH OF THE PIECES OF THE WOOD PLATFORMS AND THINGS TO THAT NATURE, THE SLIDES, THE SWING SETS, AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

SO WE ARE FINALIZING UP THE PROPOSAL FROM THE CONTRACTOR. WE'RE ANTICIPATING TO GO TO COMMISSION FOR AFLOFL JUNE OF 2023 FOR THIS PLAYGROUND. IF APPROVED, WE'RE LOOKING AT STARTING CONSTRUCTION AFTER SUMMER, WHICH WILL BE AROUND AUGUST, SEPTEMBER TIME FRAME, AND WE WILL MAKE SURE BECAUSE WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A COMMUNITY BUILD TYPE OF PROJECT, THAT WE WILL BE DOING SOME SORT OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT PROJECT AS WE GO THROUGH WITH THIS.

FOR SAFETY REASONS, OBVIOUSLY THEY CAN'T BUILD THE PLAY GROUND AGAIN LIKE THEY DID BACK IN THE DAY. BUT WE WILL DO SOME SORT OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT PROJECT SO WE CAN MAKE SURE THE COMMUNITY STILL FEELS A PART OF THIS PARK. THE ADDITIONAL PARK PROJECTS WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THE DOG PARK TABLES AND BENCHES, THE EQUIPMENT IS IN.

BUT WE HAVE DEFERRED AND DELAYED THAT PART BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND RE-DO THE FENCING AROUND THE PARK. SO INSTEAD OF CLOSING AND THEN OPENING AND THEN RECLOSING AGAIN FOR THE FENCE PROJECT, WE DECIDED TO DELAY THAT AND JUST DO EVERYTHING ALL IN ONE SHOT, SO THE PARK WILL BE CLOSED FOR ABOUT 10-DAYS TO DO THE ENTIRE PROJECT AS WELL AS SOME MAINTENANCE IN THAT AREA AREA. SO WE DON'T HAVE A FINALIZED DATE ON THAT, BUT IT WILL BE COMING SOON. THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER HORSE RING, RESURFACING OF THE WEST RING, WAS APPROVED BY COMMISSION. WE HAD -- WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A PROJECT KICK-OFF MEETING WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. ONCE WE HAVE THAT KICK-OFF MEETING WITH THE CONTRACTOR, WE WILL KNOW WHAT THE APPROPRIATE LEAD TIMES IS FOR THE MATERIALS FOR THAT PROJECT AND WE'LL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY A GOOD PROJECT SCHEDULE FOR THAT.

SO THAT WAY WE DON'T KEEP THE HORSE RING CLOSED FOR AN EXTENDED TIME.

FEELZ 2 AND 6, FENCE AND DUGOUT REPLACEMENT, WE ARE PLANNING TO START IT ON JUNE 5TH, THAT WAY WE ARE IN THE SUMMER SEASON AND IT ALSO IS A BETTER TIME IN REGARDS TO OUR LEAGUE PLAY.

ALONG WITH THAT, WE WILL BE DOING SOME WARNING TRACK. WE ARE CHANGING OUT THE WARNING TRACKS ON 1, 2, 5 AND 6 AT TERRA PARK FOR A CRIMSON STONE. RIGHT IT'S NOW LIKE AN INFIELD CLAY. THE CRIMSON STONE PROVIDES BETTER DRAINAGE.

THE WATER IS DESIGNED TO RUN OFF THE FIELDS AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO PERCOLATE IN OUR WARNING TRACK AREA AS WELL, TOO. TERRA MAR PARK HALFWAY RESURFACE, IT WAS JUST APPROVED BY THE COMMISSION TO BE ABLE TO RESURFACE ALL OF THE ASPHALT WALKWAYS INSIDE OF TERRA MAR PARK. WE WILL BE SCHEDULING A KICK-OFF MEETING AND YOU WILL SEE THAT COMING SOON NAP WILL NOT AFFECT ANY CLAY OR ANYTHING. BUT IF YOU'RE IN THE MARK PARK, THERE WILL BE SOME TEMPORARY CLOSURES THROUGHOUT THE PARK WHILE THE PROJECT GOES ON, BUT JUST ALONG THE WALKWAYS. BENCH REPLACEMENT AND RESURFACING OF THE BASKETBALL

[00:20:05]

COURTS AT PINE TRAILS PARK, COURTS 1 AND 2. COMMISSION HAS ALREADY APPROVED THIS ITEM AND WE'RE COORDINATING WITH THE CONTRACTORS. THESE ARE GOING TO BE TWO DIFFERENT CONTRACTORS, ONE IS DOING THE RESURFACING, AND ONE IS DOING THE FENCE PROJECT.

WE'RE TRYING TO ALLOW BOTH OF THEM AGAIN TO MINIMIZE CLOSURE OF THOSE COURTS SO THAT WAY WE CAN TIME SO THAT IT CAN BE DONE AT THE SAME TIME. DOIRS DAVIS EVASIVE PLANT REMOVAL, COMMISSION HAS APPROVED THIS ITEM AS WELL, AND WE ARE ANTICIPATING TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THIS PROJECT IN SUMMER. THERE WON'T BE A WHOLE LOT OF MOM ON THIS.

THEY ARE WON'T BE ANY CLOSURE OF THE PARK BUT WILL YOU SEE THE FRONT FENCE LINE AND ONE SIDE OF THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER BEING REPLACED AND SOME OF THE EVASIVES BEING REMOVED BECAUSE IT'S SO CLOSE TO THAT FENCE LINE, WE'VE GOTTA CLEAR IT IN ORDER TO INSTALL THE FENCE.

THE NEXT PROJECT IS THE FARMERS MARKET AREA OF REGRATING NOW THAT OUR FARMERS MARKET IS OFFICIALLY OVER FOR THE SEASON, WE WILL BE REGRATING THAT PARKING LOT AREA.

WE GOT SOME EXTRA FILL FROM SOME PREVIOUS PROJECTS WE'RE ABLE TO PUT THROUGHOUT AND NOW WE'RE GOING TO MAKE SURE THAT IT ALL GETS LEVELED OUT AND GETS FILLED IN.

TENNIS CENTER PETE ROCK REPLACEMENT, WE LOOKING TO REPLACE ALL OF THE PETE ROCK AT THE TENNIS CENTER. IF YOU'VE BEEN TO THE TENNIS CENTER, ALL OF THE ROCKS ARE PEA ROCK RIGHT OFF THE COURTS. THE FACILITY HAS BEEN OPEN FOR FOUR OR FIVE YEARS AND THE CLAY CONTINUES TO FLOW OFF THE COURTS SO THE ROCK IS KIND OF FILLED WITH CLAY A LITTLE BIT, SO IT'S TIME TO GO AHEAD AND GIVE THAT A REFRESHED LOOK. SO THIS PROJECT, THOUGH, BECAUSE OF WHAT'S ENTAILED WITH IT IN REGARDS TO BRINGING IN THE TRUCKS AND EQUIPMENT TO DO IF, IT WILL REQUIRE CLOSURE AND DOWNTIME AT THE FIT, YES, WE UNDERSTAND OUR LEAGUES AND OUR MEMBERS ARE NOT GOING TO BE THRILLED WITH THIS BUT WE WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH THE CONTRACT FORGIVE US MUCH AMPLE NOT TRY TO MINIMIZE THE IMPACT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

WE ARE HOPING THE CONTRACT LETTER WORK WITH US AND DO IT LIKE OVER A FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY SO IT WILL HAVE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF IMPACT BUT WHEN WE HAVE THE KICK-OFF CLEANING WITH THE CONTRACTOR WE'LL BE ABLE TO SCHEDULE WHAT'S MOST APPROPRIATE.

AND THEN AS WE ALREADY MENTIONED, THE L.E.D. LIGHTS AT TENNIS CENTER HAS BEEN COMPLETED. WE ARE VERY EXCITED. NICK PROBABLY DIDN'T NOTICE, BUT I AM GOING TO SHARE THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO THAT WE HAVE THAT WAS DONE BY THE CONTRACTOR.

THIS IS BEFORE...

♪ ♪ TOES. SO A DRASTIC DIFFERENCE FROM

WHAT L.E.D. LIGHTS LOOK OVER THE FLUORESCENTS. >> VERY DRAMATIC.

>> YES. >> OKAY, ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR PARK

PROJECTS? >> I ACTUALLY HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS.

FOR THE RESIDENTS FORUM, HOW MANY PEOPLE ENDED UP COMING OUT? >> 19.

>> 19. >> OKAY. AND THEN FOR LIBERTY PARK, YOU

SAID YOU ALREADY REPLACED THE WOODEN PIECE. >> WE'VE REPLACED THE STRUCTURE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE SAFETY INTEGRITY OF THE PLAYGROUND. SO THAT'S WHY WE WERE ABLE TO REOPEN AND GO AHEAD AND STILL HAVE IT OPEN FOR THE PUBLIC, BECAUSE IT IS HE STRUCTURALLY

SOUND TO BE SAFE. YES. >> SO THE NEXT PHASE WOULD BE LIKE YOU SAID THE SLIDE. THE SWINGS, THE OTHER WOODEN PIECES THEMSELVES.

[00:25:04]

LIKE THE TOWERS AND THE BRIDGES. AND THE ROPE BRIDGES, ARE THOSE PLANNED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL?

>> YES. SO EVERY PIECE OF WOOD THAT -- ACROSS THE DECKING THAT THEY GO ACROSS AND THEY CLIMB ACROSS WILL BE REPLACED. YES.

AND IT'S GOING TO BE THAT -- THE RECYCLED -- >> THE COMPRESSED --

>> YEAH. LIKE. >> AND IT'LL BE THE SAME DESIGN.

>> ABSOLUTELY. YES. >> AND THEN WHERE YOU SEE THE SLIDES, NEW SLIDES WILL BE THERE. AND THEY'LL HAVE A NICE UPGRADE AND LIFT TO IT. WITH THAT PROJECT, JOUST EVERYBODY'S AWARE, BECAUSE OF THE COLOR PALLET OF THE PRODUCTS THAT WE'RE HAVING, IT WILL BE A SLIGHT VARIATION OF A DIFFERENT COLOR AND LOOK TO IT, BUT THE -- WHAT YOU SEE AND HOW YOU SEE THE LAYOUT OF THE PLAYGROUND WILL REMAIN AS IS. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS AND THANK YOU?

>> HE NEXT IS THE PARKLAND BASH AND PUMPKIN PATCH 2023 BENEFICIARIES.

>> ALL RIGHT, SO YOU WERE. >> IT'S IN THE SECOND TAB, EVERYONE, ON YOUR --

>> SO THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT DOCUMENTS. ONE IS JUST AN OVERALL LIST OF ALL OF THE NONPROFITS THAT ARE APPROVED BY OUR CITY COMMISSION. THAT CAN BE RECIPIENTS OF OUR BENEFICIARIES, AND THEN THERE'S CHARITIES AND A LITTLE BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THEM.

SO TONIGHT WE ARE ASKING THAT YOU ALL MAKE A DECISION AND CHOOSE WHO THE BENEFICIARIES WOULD BE OF THE PARKLAND BASH AS WELL AS THE PUMPKIN PATCH. PART OF THE ROLE OF BENEFICIARY IS THAT YOU WOULD BE IN ATTENDANCE. THE ORGANIZATION WOULD BE THERE.

WE DON'T JUST ONLY WRITE THEM A CHECK, SO THEY DO PARTAKE. SO THEY DO HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT, AS WELL. LAST YEAR WE HAD EAGLES HAVEN FOR THE PARKLAND BASH AND THE CHRIS HICKS FOUNDATION FOR THE PUMPKIN PATCH AND SELECTED AN ALTERNATE, AS WELL, IN CASE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO BE THERE, AND THAT WAS THE SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE, SO I'VE ROLLED OVER THEM AND THEY ARE ON THE LIST. I PUT THEM AT THE TOP BECAUSE THEY WERE YOUR ALTERNATE AND WE UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT GIVE THEM ANY DONATION ON BEHALF OF THOSE TWO ENTERS BUT THEN THERE'S

OTHER CHOICES AS WELL. >> I THINK WE JUST WANT TO OPEN THIS UP FOR DISCUSSION.

I GUESS SINCE WE -- LIKE YOU MENTIONED, SOS WAS OUR ALTERNATE, WE WOULD PROBABLY MOVE THAT UP TO A BENEFICIARY, AND THEN WE JUST NEED FIND THE SECOND ONE AND THEN ALTERNATE.

SO LOOKING AT THE LISTS ARE THERE ANY ONES THAT SORT OF JUMP OUT AT YOU? I THINK THE DISCUSSION WE HAD, WE WANTED TO SORT OF MAINTAIN PARKLAND FOCUSED CHARITIES.

SO BROWARD -- SO SORT OF LOOK AT THAT. >> MAKES SENSE.

ALTERNATE LAST YEAR, THEY ACCEPTED THEY WOULD HAVE COME... >> SHOULD WE MAKE A MOTION FOR

EACH ONE OR SHOULD WE JUST BUNDLE THEM INTO ONE? >> I WOULD DO A MOTION FOR EACH ONE BECAUSE THEY'RE TWO DIFFERENT EVENTS SO THEY GENERATE DIFFERENT REVENUE.

>> OKAY. >> THE BASH FIRST? >> I WOULD DO THE DASH FIRST AND THEN THE PUMPKIN PATCH THE SECOND. JUST SO YOU KNOW, THE PARKLAND DASH DOES HAVE ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPONSORSHIP SO THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP RAISE MORE MONEY THAN THE PUMPKIN PATCH SO JUST TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN YOU'RE CHOOSING YOUR ORGANIZATION WHEN THEY DO HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE WILLING TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING THERE'S MORE OF A CAPACITY AT THE PARKLAND DASH TO MAKE MORE MONEY. LAST YEAR'S NUMBERS FOR EAGLES HAVEN WERE 3100 FOR THE PARKLAND DASH. CHRIS HIXSON FOUNDATION FOR THE PUMPKIN PATCH RAISED $3600.

HOWEVER, FOR THE 2021 YEAR, BUDDY SPORTS WAS ABLE TO RAISE 6,500.

SO THAT'S SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER THAN 2022. AND THEN FEEDING SOUTH FLORIDA

RECEIVED 2,279. >> IF SOS SEEMS TO BE THE BENEFICIARY FOR THE FIRST EVENT, WE WITH WOULD NEED A MOTION AND A SECOND AND AN APPROVAL.

>> I'LL SECOND THAT. >> ALL IN FAVOR? >> AYE

>> MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY FOR SOS FACILITY FOR THE PARKLAND DASH.

[00:30:08]

SO NOW WE NEED A BENEFICIARY FOR THE PUMPKIN PATCH. >> YES, AND AN ALTERNATE, AS WELL. JUST IN CASE EITHER ORGANIZATION'S UNABLE TO ATTEND.

LOCAL CHARITIES, SO LIKE SHINE MSD, SHOULDER RUSH ARE SOME -- >> WE DID PUT THE INDIAN PRINCESS ORGANIZATION. THEY HAVE A REALLY LARGE CHAPTER HERE IN PARKLAND.

>> I MOVE TO HAVE INDIAN PRINCESS AS OUR CLARITY FOR THE PARKLAND PUMPKIN PATCH.

>> I SECOND. >> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE

>> OKAY, THAT MOTION PASS UNANIMOUSLY FOR INDIAN PRINCESS FOR THE PARKLAND DASH.

NOW WE NEED AN ALTERNATE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T ATTEND THE EVENTS.

THIS IS THE TUFT ONE. WHAT'S THE MSD HERO'S CHALLENGE? I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH THAT.

I HAD JUST SEEN THAT ON HERE. I WASN'T AWARE OF THAT ONE. >> I CAN GOOG IT WILL FOR YOU.

I HAVE NO IDEA. THESE ARE THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT THE COMMISSION HAS GIVE MONEY TO

IN THE PAST. IT'S A RUNNING LIST. >> MOTION TO APPROVE --

>> AYE

>> OKAY, THANK YOU. >> OLD BUSINESS. SOMETHING CALLED PARKLAND DAY.

[9. Old Business]

AS I RECALL. >> I'M LOOKING AT ALL THREE OF ALL OF THEM.

ANY ONE OF THEM CAN WATCH HERE BUT AS YOU GUYS KNOW WE HAVE PARKLAND DAY AND I KNOW AT OUR SPECIAL MEETING YOU GUYS GAVE A LOT OF COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK ALREADY.

I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY IF THERE WAS ANY ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK OR ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE THAT PROVIDE TO STAFF GOING INTO NEXT YEAR. IT WAS A VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT, AS WE ALL KNOW AND AGREE TO. AND SOME OF THE COMMENTS THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE DOES SEEM TO BE THE DIRECTION WE'RE GOING TO BE GOING IN. POTENTIALLY A PARADE IN THE MORNING FOLLOWED WITH LIKE AN EATS AND BEATS TYPE OF FESTIVAL IN THE AFTERNOON, EVENING WITH LIKE A KIDS ZONE AREA AND SO FORTH, BECAUSE IT WILL BE OUR 61ST BIRTHDAY.

IT WILL NOT BE A HIGH END HEADLINER, BUT IT WILL BE MORE OF YOUR LOCAL BANDS AND LOCAL TYPE OF MUSIC GOING. LEO'S GONNA PERFORM FOR US. SO IF THERE'S ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO GIVE US WORDS OF RECOMMENDATION AS WE MOVE FORWARD IN PLANNING THE EVENT

FOR NEXT YEAR. >> IT WENT REALLY WELL AND THE NUMBERS WERE GREAT.

HAD THAT HOMETOWN FEELING. PEOPLE WERE EXCITED AND NOT EVERYONE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY IT SO NEXT YEAR I BELIEVE THE PARADE FOR SURE WILL HAVE MORE PEOPLE.

>> I THINK THE ONLY FEEDBACK THAT I WAS GETTING IS SOME PEOPLE DIDN'T KNOW IT HAPPENED.

SO, YOU KNOW, FROM JUST A COMMUNICATION MARKETING STANDPOINT, YOU KNOW, SOMEHOW MAYBE FARTHER IN ADVANCED JUST GIVES THEM WARNING THAT IT'S COMING.

I MEAN 7500 IS STILL GREAT, YOU KNOW, THE LINES TO GET FOOD AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FEETBACK

[00:35:01]

WAS FROM THE BUSINESS EXPO PEOPLE, IF THEY WERE ABLE TO DERIVE ANY CONNECTIONS OR

POSSIBLY SELL ANYTHING. >> THAT WAS THE ONLY KIND OF FEEDBACK I RECEIVED.

>> ARE THERE PROPOSED DATES YET AND. >> OH, DATES.

YES. YES. BECAUSE WE HAVE ROLLED THIS OUT TO BE CONSISTENT, EVEN WHEN THE COMMITTEE SELECTED THE DATE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, WE LOOKED AT SEVERAL YEARS DOWN THE ROAD BECAUSE EASTER HOLIDAY ALWAYS CHANGES AND THE VARIOUS THAT I HADS COULD POTENTIALLY COME UP. SO THE BEST DATE -- TO STAY CONSISTENT, SO TO YOUR POINT IN REGARDS TO COMMUNICATION, SECOND SATURDAY OF MARCH PEOPLE WILL START KNOWING SECOND SATURDAY IN

MARCH WILL BE THE BIG DAY. SO -- MARCH 9TH. >> GREAT.

LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR. >> AWESOME. >> JUST A COUPE OF COMMENTS.

AS A PARADE PARTICIPATE, TOO, IT WAS REALLY WONDERFUL AND UPLIFTING EVENT.

THE SECTION WHERE WE WERE STATIONED BECAUSE WE WERE IN THE VERY LARGE FLOAT WITH 200 AND

SOMETHING PEOPLE. >> WELL, WHY DID YOU HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE?

IT WAS AWESOME. >> IT WAS WONDERFUL, WHERE YOU HAD THE STAGING SECTION, IT WAS REALLY EASY, ESPECIALLY MANAGING THE CHILDREN BEING PART OF IT. IT WAS REALLY GOOD, AND I CAN SEE IN THE FUTURE, YOU KNOW, BANDS, HIGH SCHOOL BANDS HOPEFULLY PARTICIPATING AND THINGS LIKE THAT. IT'S A REALLY GOOD STAGING AREA AND IT WAS EASY TO SET UP.

ALSO FOR THE BUSINESS EXPO FROM THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WE HAD RIVER GLADES, WE HAD A BOOTH, AND IT WAS FANTASTIC. THE KIDS ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. THEY LOVED THE FACT THAT THEY COULD RUN THERE AND SEE THEIR SCHOOL REPRESENTED. SO I WOULD ALSO ENCOURAGE SOME

MORE OUTREACH TO THE SCHOOLS. >> OKAY. >> FOR MORE PARTICIPATION FROM THE OTHER ELEMENTARIES AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS, THE HIGH SCHOOL...

BECAUSE I THINK NOW THAT THEY KNOW THE PARADE IS WHAT IT IS THEY'LL REALLY BE THERE.

>> RIGHT. >> ALSO, MY HUSBAND UNFORTUNATELY GOT STUCK OUTSIDE OF THE TRAFFIC AREA WHEN THEY STARTED TO TURN PEOPLE AWAY FOR THE PARADE.

AND THERE WAS A LOT OF PEOPLE GETTING TURNED AWAY. A LOT OF TRAFFIC THAT, YOU KNOW, ITSELF -- UNFORTUNATELY SOME PEOPLE TEND TO BE A LITTLE BIT LATER AND THEN THEY WERE BEING TURNED AWAY. SO MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE COMMUNICATION -- I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU DO THAT ON THE TIME OR DELAY IT A FEW MINUTES ON THAT. BUT -- OR MAYBE EVEN HAVE SOMETHING LIKE COFFEE FOOD TRUCK THERE IN THE MORNING TO GET PEOPLE COME A LITTLE BIT

EARLIER. >> GOOD IDEA. YOU KNOW, JUST SOMETHING SMALL, A FACE PAINTING OR A COFFEE TRUCK JUST TO GET PEOPLE EARLY AHEAD OF TIME SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PARKING. OR A COUPLE SUGGESTIONS -- ARE A COUPLE OF SUGGESTIONS.

AND THE VIDEO THAT WAS POSTED AFTERWARDS WAS SO FANTASTIC AND IT WILL BE SO AMAZING FOR NEXT YEAR FOR THE MARKETING BECAUSE EVERYBODY I SPOKE TO WHO THREAFT EVENT THAT NIGHT HAD THE BEST FEELING. THEY WERE SO PROUD. THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THE CITY PUT THIS ON. THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE, YOU KNOW, MOST PEOPLE THAT I HAD SPOKE WITH, YOU KNOW, WERE NEWER TO THE CITY AND HADN'T BEEN HERE BEFORE, AND THEY JUST WERE SHOCKED THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT COULD ACTUALLY BE PUT ON. AND THEY WERE SO HAPPY, AND REALLY THAT SENSE OF COMMUNITY WAS SO HIGH, AND ESPECIALLY RIVERGLADES AFTER WHEN WE WERE ALL TALKING ABOUT THE PARADE ITSELF AND THE EVENT ITSELF. VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY.

YOU SAID 7500. AND I WENT BACK TO LOOK AT THE FAMILY FUN FEST WHICH WAS THREE DAYS AND THAT WAS 9500. SO THAT'S A REALLY WONDERFUL DRAW.

CONGRATULATIONS. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EVENT.

>> WELL, THANK YOU. AND THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK. THOSE ARE SOME GREAT IDEAS AND STUFF THAT WE'LL DEFINITELY LOOK INTO. I REALLY DO LIKE THE MORNING BREAKFAST FOOD TRUCKS AND SO FORTH OR WHATEVER. WHEN WE DID OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PUSH, WE EVEN PUT OUT AN EARLIER TIME WHEN WE ACTUALLY PUSHED TO CLOSE THE ROADS DOWN BECAUSE KNOWING THEY WOULDN'T ALL GET THERE ON TIME BUT STILL GAVE IT AN EXTRA 10, 15 MINUTES.

BUT WE'LL CONTINUE TO PUSH BUT DOING SOMETHING WHERE THEY COULD COME A LITTLE EARLY EXPWRER HAVE A LITTLE ACTIVITY GOING WHILE THEY'RE WAITING FOR THE START OF THE SPRAYED A GREAT IDEA.

AND THE 7500, THERE'S NO WAY WE COULD GAGE, BUT SUGAR RAY'S GOING TO DRAW FROM THE TRICOUNTY AREA. SO I DON'T EXPECT 7500 WERE ALL RESIDENTS, SO NEXT YEAR IT MAY NOT BE AS BIG. BUT WHAT I LOVED IS THE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT EXACTLY, LIKE YOU SAID. AND YES, YOUR GROUP WAS THE LARGEST GROUP, AND BECAUSE IT WAS SO POSITIVE, THAT THE WORD OF MOUTH GETS OUT THAT, YOU KNOW, I'M HOPING THAT WE DO HAVE A LOT MORE SCHOOL PARTICIPATES AND MORE OF THAT COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, EVEN OUR COMMUNITY STAGE PERFORMANCES LEADING UP TO THE BAND AND SO FORTH OR WHATEVER, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT, IS TO HAVE OUR COMMUNITY BE SPOTLIGHT.

RIGHT RAISING MONEY FOR THE -- SOME OTHER ORGANIZATION WAS GIVING A FUNDRAISER SOMEWHERE THAT NIGHT.

SO I THINK DIALING IN ON LIKE THAT'S THE DAY EVERYONE WANTS TO TAKE OFF.

>> RIGHT. AND THAT'S A GOOD POINT. WE DID NOT MANDATE FOR THE LEAGUES TO SHUT DOWN. BUT IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE CAN COMMUNICATE WITH THEM WITH REGARDS TO OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF OUR LEAGUE PARTICIPATES ARE RESIDENTS THEMSELVES, RIGHT.

WE WANT THEM TO BE A PART OF THE EVENT, SO WE WILL GET THE WORD AND THE DATE OUT TO THEM EARLY AND REALLY, REALLY ENCOURAGE THEM TO NOT SCHEDULE ACTIVITIES OR SANCTIONS, YOU KNOW, GROUP ACTIVITY LIKE THAT IN REGARDS TO -- SO THAT EVERYBODY CAN COME OUT TO THE EVENT.

WANT TO DO THEIR GAMES AND SO FORTH OR WHATEVER. BUT WE'LL WORK FOR THEM, THANKS

FOR SUGGESTING THAT. >> I TRIED REALLY HARD. AFTER 10:00, IT WON'T BE IN THAT TRAIL'S SECTION. BUT UNDERSTANDABLY THE LIFE SAFETY ISSUES THAT LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS IN MAKING SURE THAT THEY STRESS THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO START THE PARADE UNTIL THE ENTIRE ROUTE WAS FREE AND CLEAR. ROUTE DOESN'T GO INTO THE PARKER SAY BUT BECAUSE OF WHERE IT ENDS AND HOW WE FORK PEOPLE OUT, IT DOES AFFECT THE ENTRANCE OF THE PARK. BUT IT IS A -- SOMETHING WE COULD CHECK OUT.

I THINK REALLY THE ANSWER WILL BE DOING THINGS EARLIER AND GETTING PEOPLE TO

EARLIER. >> SO THAT IS DEFINITELY WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT.

>> I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

I ENJOYED IMMENSELY. WITH REGARD TO THE EXPO, THE TENTS, THERE WAS TOWARDS THE WESTERN SIDE, IT STARTED GETTING DARK EARLIER AND THE LIGHT HIT SOME OF THOSE TENTS.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HEARD ANYTHING FROM SOME OF THE VENDORS WHO WERE THERE.

BUT THE LIGHTING WAS VERY POOR. I'M NOT SURE WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT, BUT A NUMBER OF THE TENANTSES DID NOT HAVE PROPER LIGHTING. YOU COULDN'T SEE THEIR AWARES.

>> THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT UP. WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND WEATHER WE MAKE SURES SOMETHING THEY NEED TO SET UP, BUT WE'LL MAKE SURE WE ADDRESS THE

LIGHTING ISSUE. >> THANK YOU, GOOD STUFF. >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> COMMENTS FROM STAFF. >> MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING.

>> SECOND. >> IS THERE A SECOND? >> YEAH.

>> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? AYE
