>> OKAY. ROLL CALL.

>> JENNIFER? >> HERE.

>> BRIAN? >> HE IS OUT.

BRANDON? >> HERE.

>> JOHN? >> HERE.

>> CASEY? >> HERE.

DAVID? >> LEO?

HERE. >> AND HOWARD.

[4. Approval of Minutes]

>> HERE. >> OKAY.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES. >> MOTION TO APPROVE.

>> MOTION. SECOND?

>> SECOND. >> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR...

>> AYE. >> THE APPROVAL FOR THE MINUTES PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. ALL RIGHT.

MOVING ON TO PUBLIC COMMENTS. NOBODY?

[6. Comments by the Chair and Board]

OKAY. COMMENTS BY THE CHAIR OR THE BOARD. I CAN DEFER TO THE BOARD.

ANY COMMENTS? ANYBODY? NO? WE KNOW WE HAVE THAT THING COMING UP THIS WEEKEND. SHOULD BE FUN.

ALL RIGHT. THAT IS ALL I GOT TO SAY.

[7. Approval of the Agenda]

ALL RIGHT. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA.

SO WE HAVE SOME YOUNG AMBASSADORS HERE, AND SO WE DON'T HAVE TO SUBJECT THEM TO THE ENTIRE MEETING.

WE WANTED TO MOVE THEIR PRESENTATION UP TO THE FIRST OR LETTER A. WE NEED TO MAKE A MOTION TO ADJUST THAT. WE NEED A MOTION.

>> MOTION TO ADJUST THE AGENDA. >> OKAY.

WE HAVE A SECOND IN. >> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR?

OKAY. >> AYE.

>> THAT IS MOVED-- OR THAT IS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

OKAY. WE WILL MOVE INTO NEW BUSINESS.

AND WE WILL GET THE YOUNG AMBASSADOR'S PRESENTATION GOING.

>> OH, OKAY. THERE IT IS.

THANK YOU. >> HI, EVERYONE.

[8. New Business]

I ATTEND MARJORY STONEMAN DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL.

I'M TREASURER FOR THE PARKLAND YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON. GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS ANGELINA KENNEDY. I GO TO MARJORY STONEMAN DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL. WE HAD THREE OTHER AMBASSADORS.

THEY COULD NOT MAKE IT TONIGHT. THIS IS THE FEEDBACK WE COLLECTED DURING SNOWFEST. WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BE GOING OVER TODAY ARE THE RESPONSES WE RECEIVED FROM THE PUBLIC, THEIR FEEDBACK, THEIR SUGGESTIONS, AND STATISTICS THAT WE GATHERED, AND

THEN OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. >> I WOULD LIKE TO START WITH OUTLINING SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE ASKED AND THE RESPONSES FOR THOSE QUESTIONS. WE RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 96 RESPONSES, AND AMAZINGLY, 71%... 71 PEOPLE WE ASKED GAVE THE EVENT A TEN OUT OF TEN. FURTHERMORE, 40 PEOPLE RESPONDED THAT THIS WAS THEIR FIRST SNOWFEST.

THIS REALLY SHOWS HOW SUCCESSFUL OUTREACH WAS.

ANOTHER QUESTION WE HAD IN OUR SURVEY WAS HOW PEOPLE HEARD ABOUT SNOWFEST. AND OUR RESULTS SHOW THAT CITY NEWS AS WELL AS PEOPLE FINDING OUT FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT PARKLAND WERE THE TOP TWO SOURCES.

FROM WHERE PEOPLE DECIDED TO ATTEND S SNOWFEST.

LASTLY, EXACTLY HALF OF THE PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED SNOWFEST THIS YEAR IN OUR SURVEY SAID THEY PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED SNOWFEST. THAT SHOWS PEOPLE IN THE PAST ENJOYED SNOWFEST A LOT. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO STATE A FEW POSITIVE COMMENTS THAT WE RECEIVED.

ONE COMMENT IN PARTICULAR WAS GREAT EXPERIENCE THANKS TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS. SO I FEEL THE CITY OF PARKLAND DID A GREAT JOB HAVING ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS.

ANOTHER COMMENT WAS THAT PEOPLE FELT THEIR CHILDREN HAD A LOT OF FUN, AND I THINK, AGAIN, THE CITY OF PARKLAND DID A REALLY GOOD JOB THERE ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN.

>> AS YOU CAN SEE, WE DID HAVE A LOCATION CHANGE THIS YEAR TO THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER. WE WANTED FEEDBACK FROM THE PUBLIC OF HOW THEY LIKED THIS CHANGE.

40% OF PEOPLE RESPONDED THIS IS THEIR FIRST SNOWFEST.

OVER 50% OF THE RECIPIENTS SAID THEY DID ENJOY THE LOCATION CHANGE, SO MAYBE IN THE FUTURE, WE KEEP IT AT THE EQUESTRIAN

[00:05:05]

CENTER. IF 50% OF THE PEOPLE ARE SAYING THEY DO ENJOY IT. SO THESE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE PUBLIC.

FOR TICKETING, WE KNEW THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE AN ISSUE BECAUSE OF PREVIOUS INCIDENTS. THEY WANT THE NUMBER OF TICKETS SOLD TO BE EXPANDED AND THAT THERE WOULD BE A MORE EFFICIENT TICKET SALE PROCESS AND REGISTRATION PROCESS.

THERE WERE SEVERAL CHILDREN AROUND THE EVENT.

IT IS REALLY TO WALK INTO THE EVENT UNNOTICED.

AND THEY NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS BECAUSE I KNOW A LOT OF THE VOLUNTEERS WE HAD, THEY DID A GOOD JOB.

THEY WERE ALSO REALLY YOUNG, AND THEY DIDN'T EXACTLY KNOW WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO OR WHAT THEIR JOBS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE.

SO MAYBE HAVE MORE VOLUNTEERS, POSSIBLY OLDER ONES TO HELP OUT.

AND THEN THE DECOR, MAYBE MORE SNOW PILES.

I KNOW A LOT OF THE CHILDREN THAT GO THERE ARE REALLY YOUNG, AND THEY MIGHT BE SCARED OF THE SLIDES THAT WE HAVE AND, I MEAN, I WAS HELPING WITH THE SLIDES. OVER HALF THE KIDS THAT WERE GOING ON THE SLIDES WERE MUCH OLDER.

THE YOUNGER KIDS WERE MAINLY PLAYING IN THE SNOW PILES.

BIG CROWDS AROUND THE SNOW PILES.

MAYBE MORE OF THOSE. BETTER LIGHTING.

IT IS TOO DARK TO SEE IN SOME AREAS.

I KNOW WHERE THE FOOD WAS, WE HAD A FEW TABLES, AND YOU COULDN'T REALLY SEE ANYTHING. IT WAS JUST DARKNESS AROUND THAT

AREA. >> ANOTHER SUGGESTION THAT WE RECEIVED WAS THE EVENT WAS ON A WEEKDAY NIGHT WHICH WAS NOT VERY ACCESSIBLE TO MOST PEOPLE. SOME SUGGESTED THAT WE HAVE THE EVENT TWO OR THREE DAYS LONG SO MORE PEOPLE COULD ATTEND.

THE LAST SUGGESTION WE RECEIVED WAS TO HAVE MORE SEATING OPTIONS. I PERSONALLY NOTICED THERE WERE ONLY A COUPLE OF TABLES NEAR THE FOOD TRUCKS.

AND ONE MORE THING. ONE OF THE QUESTIONS, LIKE I MENTIONED EARLIER, WAS THE STATS PEOPLE RECEIVED ON HOW THEY ENJOYED THE EVENT. AS YOU CAN SEE, ALMOST ENTIRELY, WE RECEIVED 8'S, 9, AND 10S OUT OF 10S.

THAT SHOWS THAT MOST PEOPLE ENJOYED.

>> THESE ARE OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES.

I SAID IT WAS SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE, SEEING ALL THE CHILDREN HAVE AN AMAZING TIME. SO HEART-WARMING.

>> MY EXPERIENCE WAS I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME.

EVERYONE WAS SO FRIENDLY, AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS AMAZING.

>> FOR THE YOUTH AMBASSADORS THAT COULDN'T BE HERE TODAY, WE ALSO HAVE THEIR EXPERIENCE, AND SO THEY SAID BEING ABLE TO WORK AT SNOWFEST WAS TRULY A GIFTING EXPERIENCE.

THE SMILES ON ALL THE CHILDREN'S FACES WERE CONTAGIOUS.

THE ENVIRONMENT WAS AMAZING. ESPECIALLY FOR PARKLAND'S YOUTH.

WE TRULY EMBRACED THE COMMUNITY'S VALUE AND FAMILY.

SO THAT IS ALL OUR FEEDBACK THAT WE HAVE COLLECTED.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HEARING FROM US.

I HOPE WE HAVE A GOOD SNOWFEST NEXT YEAR AS WELL.

(APPLAUSE) DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR US? ANYTHING? (INAUDIBLE) THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. .

>> OKAY. MOVING ON: PARKS AND RECREATION

GENERAL UPDATES. >> GOOD EVENING.

CHRISTINE GARCIA, SENIOR DIRECTOR OF RECREATION AND PARKS OPERATION. SO JOINING OUR TEAM, I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE FE LEASH SOMEWHAT TRAINOR.

SHE IS OUR NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR.

FELICIA, PLEASE STAND UP. YOU WILL SEE HER FACE AROUND AT THE EVENTS AND THE PROGRAMS AND SO FORTH.

I BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE AWARE SCOTT HARRISON RELOCATED AND MOVED TO CALIFORNIA. SO WE NOW WISH HIM WELL.

WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE FELICIA, A PART OF OUR TEAM.

WELCOME, FELICIA. I WAS GOING TO GET INTO THE YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM AND EXPLAIN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT THAT PROGRAM IS AND THE THINGS THAT THEY DO FOR US, BUT THEY DID DO THEIR PRESENTATION FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW.

YOUTH AMBASSADORS IS A NEW PROGRAM THAT BASICALLY GOT FORMED THIS YEAR. THROUGH OUR CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE. BASICALLY, THROUGH THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD AS WELL, THEY GET APPLICATIONS OF HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS. THERE ARE A LOT OF STRINGENT REQUIREMENTS. THEY HAVE TO MEET MONTHLY.

THEY HAVE TO VOLUNTEER AT EVENTS.

THEY HAVE TO DO COMMUNITY INPUT AND SURVEYS LIKE THEY DID FOR

[00:10:03]

OUR SNOWFEST. THEY HAVE TO DO A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY. THEY ARE PUT THROUGH A LOT OF THINGS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.

AS LONG AS THEY CHECKMARK ALL OF THOSE ASSETS AND EVERYTHING ELSE, THEN THEY WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR A $2,500 SCHOLARSHIP. IT IS A VERY EXCITING PROGRAM THAT WE WERE ABLE TO ROLL OUT. THEY DO A FANTASTIC JOB.

JUST LIKE YOU SAID, JEN. YOU SAW THEM OUT THERE AND STUFF LIKE THAT. IT WAS A GREAT ADDITION FOR US.

ESPECIALLY ON AN EVENT THAT WE JUST RELOCATED.

TO KIND OF GET OUT THERE AND TALK TO THE COMMUNITY, TO GIVE US THAT IMPORTANT FEEDBACK AND DIALOGUE.

WE APPRECIATE THEM VERY MUCH AS WELL.

PARKLAND DAY. I'M NOT GOING TO STEAL LEO'S THUNDER TOO MUCH. I'M GOING TO BASICALLY KIND OF GAVE RUNDOWN OF THE DAY. IT IS GOING TO BE A VERY BUSY DAY, AS WE ALL KNOW. OUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS HAVE BEEN PLANNING AWAY FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

ALONG WITH STAFF. JUST REAL QUICK, AND A REMINDER, SATURDAY IS OUR DAY. WE ARE HERE, FINALLY.

THE EVENT WILL START AT 8:30 IN THE MORNING WITH A V.I.P.

BREAKFAST RECEPTION. AND THEN OUR PARADE ACTUALLY KICKS OFF AT 10:00. WE ARE EXPECTING OUR PARADE TO TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF. NO MORE THAN TWO HOURS.

AND THEN FROM THERE, WE ARE ADDING AN UNVEILING FOR OUR ARK YOJ LOL CAST SITE MARKERS. WE HAVE BEEN DETERMINED THAT THAT IS AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE. WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A NICE MONUMENTAL SIGN. THAT HAS BEEN INSTALLED AT THE PARK. WE WILL UNVEIL THAT AS SOON AS THE PARADE IS DONE. IT IS SCHEDULED FOR NOON.

PLEASE JOIN US AROUND THE CORNER FROM PINE TRAILS PARK.

FROM THERE, WE ALSOS HAVE OUR VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCH WHICH ALSO STARTS AT 12:00. YOU KNOW, THE COMMISSION WILL COME BACK FROM THE UNVEILING AND BE ABLE TO GAVE NICE THANK YOU AND GIVE OUT CERTIFICATES TO ALL VOLUNTEERS, INCLUDING YOURSELVES, THAT HAVE WORKED SO HARD OVER THE PAST YEAR.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE VOLUNTEER LUNCHEON AS WELL.

THEN WE DO GET A SMALL BREAK. NOT SO MUCH FOR STAFF AND VENDORS. FROM THERE, YOU GO AND YOU START SETTING UP FOR THE MAIN EVENT. THE MAIN I VENT DOES KICK OFF AT 4:00. AS WE TALKED ABOUT.

WE HAVE ALL THE FUN ACTIVITIES GOING ON.

A REMINDER, OUR KIDS FUN ZONE AREA WILL SHUT DOWN AT 8:45.

WE WILL HAVE SIGNS POSTED OUT THERE.

THEN WE ARE TRYING TO GET THE WORD OUT THERE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THEY DO CLOSE ABOUT 15 MINUTES EARLIER BEFORE THE END OF THE EVENT.

SO FAMILIES CAN GET SITUATED, TO WATCH THE GRAND FINALE LASER LIGHT SHOW WHICH STARTS AT 9:00. THE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT.

WE WILL MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS TO MAKE SURE SMALL CHILDREN ARE CLOSE TO THEIR PARENTS AT THAT TIME.

THE PARK WILL GET DARK. THEN WE WILL HAVE, LIKE, A 12 TO 15-MINUTE LASER LIGHT PRECIPITATION WITH COLD SPARKSERS LASER LIGHTS AND MUSIC CHOREOGRAPHED TOGETHER FOR A SPECIAL SHOW. THAT WILL CONCLUDE OUR EVENT.

LEO WILL HAVE MORE ON THE AGENDA WHEN WE GET THROUGH.

THAT I WANTED TO GIVE A REMINDER AND RUNDOWN OF WHAT TO EXPECT.

WEB SITE: I WANTED TO GIVE SOME IMPORTANT TIDBIT OF INFORMATION.

WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DEVELOP AND ROLL OUT A NEW PAGE IN REGARDS TO OUR CITY MAPS. SO WHEN YOU GO TO OUR CITY WEBSITE, WHEN YOU GO TO "DEPARTMENTS," YOU GO UNDER DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES. YOU WILL SEE A LINK FOR "CITY MAPS." IN THE PAST, WE HAD THESE STATIC MAPS THAT WOULD GIVE YOU PARK LOCATIONS, ZONING MAPS, TRAILS, THINGS OF THAT NATURE. WE NOW HAVE ADDITIONAL IDEAS THAT YOU COULD GO AHEAD AND LINKS THAT YOU COULD CLICK ON.

ONE IS OUR PROJECTS. WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE LINK, YOU WILL SEE WHEN IT GETS LOADED, THERE IS A TAB ACROSS THE TOP OF THE DIFFERENT PROJECTS. WHETHER IT IS A PROPOSED PROJECT, APPROVED PROJECT, UNDER CONSTRUCTION, OR COMPLETED.

AND SO YOU WILL NOTICE ALL OF THE CITY'S PROJECTS ARE ALL UNDERNEATH ONE OF THESE TABS. IF IT IS APPROVED IN THE BUDGET, ALL OF THE PROJECTS ARE THERE. YOU WILL ALSO NOTICE IF THERE IS THIS BAR THAT SAYS "PRIVATE," THOSE ARE ALSO THE PRIVATE PERMITS THAT COME IN TO BUILDING AND SO FORTH.

IT IS A WHOLE COMBINATIONLE OF PROJECTS GOING ON THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CITY. AND THEN AS THE PROJECT MOVES THROUGH THESE DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES, THEY WILL MOVE THROUGH THE DIFFERENT TABS. YOU CAN SEE WHAT PROJECTS ARE APPROVED. YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF THE PROJECTS THAT WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT HERE AND GIVING UPDATES. THEY ARE ALL LISTED THERE.

IF IT STARTED CONSTRUCTION, THEY WILL BE HERE UNDERNEATH "CONSTRUCTION." ONCE IT IS FINALIZED OR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED OUT, YOU CAN SEE THE PAST PROJECTS UNDERNEATH THE PORTAL. THE CITY ATLAS ONE IS BASICALLY

[00:15:06]

LIKE THE STATIC MAPS. IT IS AN INTERACTIVE MAP.

THERE ARE ZONES THAT YOU CAN CLICK ON IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE ZONING. IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PARKS IN THE CITY. YOU WANT TO SEE THE TRAILS IN THE CITY. YOU CAN DO AN INTERACTIVE THROUGH THE CITY ATLAS. WE HAVE KEPT THE STATIC MAPS AS WELL. THE LAST ONE IS EXCITING.

OUR HISTORIC PORTALS. PART OF PARKLAND DAY, WE ARE ALSO GOING TO BE HIGHLIGHTING OUR NEW HISTORIC PORTALS.

I CAN'T SAY THEY ARE NEW. THEY ARE UPGRADED.

WE HAVE HAD 13 PORTALS. WE HAVE ADDED A NEW ONE FOR A NEW LOCATION RIGHT OUTSIDE CITY HALL THAT HAS OUR TIME CAPSULE.

NOW THERE IS A TOTAL OF 14 PORTALS.

WE DID GET NEW SIGNS. IN THE ACTUAL LOCATION THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING INSTALLED. WE ARE GOING TO BE ROLLING OUT OUR CLUES IN THE PARK VERG THIS MONTH.

THAT WILL ALLOW PEOPLE TO GET AT CLUE, TAKE THEM TO THE PORTAL SITE, AND BE ABLE TO KIND OF SEE WHERE ALL OF THESE ARE.

WHEN YOU CLICK ON THIS HISTORIC PORTAL, YOU WILL SEE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. THERE IS A MAP.

YOU CAN ZOOM IN. YOU CAN SEE THE ACTUAL LOCATIONS AT EACH OF THE PORTAL LOCATIONS. THERE IS ALSO THE SCROLL ON THE BOTTOM. YOU CAN SEE EACH OF THE LOCATIONS AS WELL THROUGH HERE. WHEN YOU CLICK ON A PORTAL, UP HERE IN THE BOX, YOU WILL SEE A VARIETY OF PRELIMINARY INFORMATION OF THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THAT PORTAL AT THAT LOCATION.

YOU CAN CLICK ON MORE INFORMATION, AND IT BRINGS YOU A WHOLE BIG HISTORY OF THE CITY. INCLUDING PICTURES, HISTORIC PICTURES, AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THE CITY AT THAT TIME. IT IS KIND OF EXCITING.

I ENCOURAGE YOU GUYS TO CHECK IT OUT, READ THROUGH IT.

PARKLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY, AS YOU KNOW, WILL BE OUT THERE ALSO AT OUR MAIN EVENT. THEY WILL HAVE EXHIBITS AND ARTIFACTS AND PIONEERS DOING GUEST-SPEAKING AND SO FORTH.

BASICALLY, BEING ABLE TO TELL YOU WHERE PARKLAND CAME FROM AND WHERE WE ARE TODAY. A REMINDER, THE NEXT UPCOMING COMMISSION MEETINGS ARE MARCH 15, WHICH WILL BE NEXT WEEK ON WEDNESDAY AS WELL AS TWO MEETINGS IN APRIL FOR APRIL 6 AND APRIL 19. OUR NEXT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING IS MONDAY, MAY 1 AT 6:00 P.M. I WILL LIKE TO BRING UP FELICIA SO SHE CAN GO AHEAD AND GO OVER THE PARK UPDATE FOR YOU.

THE PROGRAMS UPDATE. >> HELLO, EVERYONE.

NICE TO MEET YOU ALL. SO I JUST WANTED TO GO OVER A FEW UPDATES. OUR KIDS DAY OFF CAMP THAT OCCURRED IN JANUARY WAS AT ITS MAXIMUM CAPACITY AS WELL AS OUR SPRING BREAK CAMP IS FULL. THAT REGISTRATION BEGAN FEBRUARY 15, AND OUR CITY CAMP FOR SUMMER IS FULL.

THAT REGISTRATION OPENED TODAY. OUR SPRING BREAK CAMPS, WE DO HAVE ALTERNATE OPTIONS. OUR CONTRACTORS HAVE A SPORTS CAMP THAT IS STILL AVAILABLE. AND A BASKETBALL CAMP... AN ENCOMPASSING SPORTS CAMP AND SINGLE BASKETBALL CAMP THAT STILL HAS SPACE AVAILABLE. SAME FOR OUR SUMMER CAMP.

OUR SPORTS AND BASKETBALL CAMPS WE HAVE AVAILABLE AS WELL.

WE ARE HOPING TO EXPAND AND OPEN AND TAKE FROM OUR WAITLIST.

WE ARE STILL HIRING FOR OUR SUMMER CAMP STAFF, AND WE DID NOT WANT TO ACCEPT MORE CHILDREN THAN WE COULD ACCOMMODATE STAFF-WISE. WE DO-- WE ARE VERY HOPEFUL WE CAN RECRUIT SOME AMAZING CANDIDATES AND PULL FROM THAT WAITING LIST. THAT IS WHERE WE ARE CURRENTLY AT AT THE MOMENT AS FAR AS OUR CAMP REGISTRATION.

WE HAVE EGG HUNT REGISTRATION. THAT WILL START ON MONDAY, MARCH 13. WE ALSO HAD OUR SESSION THREE CLASS REGISTRATION, AND WE HAVE SOME NEW PROGRAMS AND CLASSES AT THE P-REC. A VOLLEY BALL NIGHT OUT.

A DANCER'S NIGHT IN. WE ARE JUST TRYING TO EXPAND OUR PROGRAMMING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF RESIDENTS.

WE DO HAVE A TEEN NIGHT OUT. IT IS USUALLY THE LAST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH. FOR MARCH, DUE TO SPRING BREAK, THEY HAVE UPDATED THE DATE TO BE ON MARCH 17, AND IT WILL BE DURING THE DAY. RAPIDS WATER PARK IS WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO. AND THEN WE HAVE PARENT NIGHT OUT. EVERY SECOND FRIDAY OF THE MONTH. SO WE HAVE ONE THIS WEEK.

THERE WILL BE A GAMING TRUCK AS WELL AS SOME LASER TAG OUTSIDE.

THAT WILL BE GREAT FOR PARENTS TO GET THEIR FREE TIME, AS THEY ENJOY THIS. OUR SENIOR TRIPS ARE A BIG HIT.

THEY HAD OUR JANUARY TRIP TO FLAMINGO GARDENS.

WE HAD THE BONNET HOUSE MUSEUM. THEN COMING UP IN MARCH, WE HAD INDIAN TRAIL. WE HAVE FULL FOR INDIAN TRAIL.

WE HAVE A LOTTERY SYSTEM. THAT IS HOW WE GO ABOUT ONCE

[00:20:01]

EVERYONE IS SIGNED UP. IT SEEMS THAT OUR SENIOR TRIPS ARE VERY POPULAR AS WELL. WE LOOK FORWARD TO FINDING WAYS TO EXPAND THE PROGRAM DURING MY TIME HERE.

SO THANK YOU. >> QUESTION.

>> YES. >> FOR THE PARENT NIGHT OUT, DO

I NEED A PERMISSION SLIP? >> YES.

>> ACTUALLY, THE QUESTION ABOUT THE CAPACITY THAT WE ARE SEE SEEING-- REACHING CAPACITY. IS IT THAT NUMBER 50? IS THAT AN ARBITRARY NUMBER? IS IT BASED ON RESOURCES? MONEYS NEEDED? WE HAVE SO MANY NEW RESIDENTS.

>> WE DO PLAN ON HOPEFULLY, CHANGING THAT RIGHT NOW.

IT IS AT CAPACITY BASED ON STAFFING.

WE HAVE SOME NEW STRATEGIES IN PLACE TO TRY TO RECRUIT SOME MORE STAFF. THERE ARE SHORTAGES THROUGHOUT A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT CITIES WHEN IT COMES TO HIRING OF COUNSELORS AFTER CARE STAFF. WE ARE DOING OUR BEST TO TRY TO HONE IN AND TARGET SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS WHO WE THINK WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET ABOARD OUR TEAM.

WE ARE HOPING TO ADDRESS THAT IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

>> JUST A QUESTION. AND FORGIVE ME IF I MISUNDERSTOOD. THERE IS A SPRING BREAK CAMP THAT IS IN MARCH THAT IS FULL. DID I HEAR YOU SAY THE SUMMER CAMP? ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THE SUMMER CAMP THAT JUST OPENED TODAY? THAT IS FULL?

>> YES. YES, SIR.

>> IT IS JUST THE OTHER CAMPS THAT THE PRIVATE VENDORS-- THE BASKETBALL CAMP AND THE OTHER ONES DO.

YOU KNOW IF THEY CAPPED THOSE AT 50 KIDS?

>> THOSE ONES ARE NOT FULL. OUR TRAVEL CAMP THAT WEK A ALL LITTLE... THAT WE ACTUALLY HOST IS STILL AVAILABLE.

I WANT TO CORRECT. THAT IT WAS OUR CITY-HOSTED FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THAT WE HAVE FILLED.

I THINK I ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION.

>> THANK YOU. >> YES.

OUR FACILITY CAN SUPPORT IT. WE ARE EAGER TO HAVE IT.

(INAUDIBLE). >> FULLY STAFFED, WE SHOULD SUPPORT 200 CHILDREN. YES.

>> IF YOU KNOW ANYBODY. >> THOSE POSITIONS ARE TYPICALLY ADVERTISED ON THE PARKLAND WEBSITE IN.

>> YES. ON THE PARKLAND WEBSITE.

I HAVE SPOKEN WITH H.R. RECENTLY.

WE ARE GOING TO TRY SOME DIFFERENT THINGS AS SOON AS WE GET THROUGH PARKLAND DAY. WE ARE GOING TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING. AND REV UP ON RECRUITING.

>> IS THERE A NUMBER ON HOW MANY ARE ON THE WAITLIST RIGHT NOW?

>> YES, SIR. DIFFERENT WEEKS HAVE DIFFERENT NUMBERS. THE WEEKS RANGE FROM 42-67 KIDS

ON THE WAITLIST. >> OH.

CONCEIVABLY, IF WE DID FIND OTHER VOLUNTEERS OR PEOPLE-- HOW MANY WOULD YOU NEED? HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS WOULD

COVER -- >> NOT VOLUNTEERS.

WE NEED STAFF. WE NEED STAFF OVER THE AGE OF 18 AND WILL HAVE GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL BY THE TIME OF

EMPLOYMENT. >> HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD COME OFF THE WAITLIST FOR EVERY STAFF MEMBER THAT WAS HIRED? IS THERE A NUMBER FOR THAT? YOU KNOW, LIKE, TEN TO ONE?

>> I DON'T WANT TO SPEAK OUT OF CONTEXT.

I BELIEVE-- IS IT-- 20. YEAH.

YEAH. WE ARE HOPEFUL.

SPREAD THE WORD. IF YOU HAVE ANYONE, LET THEM KNOW IF THEY ARE 18 BY THE TIME TWO WEEKS BEFORE CAMP STARTS AND GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL TWO WEEKS BEFORE, SEND THEM OUR WAY.

ANYONE RETIRED AND NEEDS SOMETHING TO DO FOR THE SUMMER, KIDS HOME FROM COLLEGE. SO-- TEACHERS AS WELL.

>> PARKLAND FORUMS ARE, LIKE, HEY, ARE KIDS COMING HOME FOR THE SUMMER? THEY NEED A JOB.

THERE YOU GO. THEY ARE OVER 18.

>> 40 HOURS A WEEK. >> THANK YOU.

>> AND JUST TO ADD TO THAT, THAT IS A GOOD POINT.

THEY ARE NOT PHYSICALLY LOCATED HERE RIGHT NOW, LIKE THEY ARE OFF IN SCHOOL BUT THEY ARE COMING HOME FOR THE SUMMER, STILL ENCOURAGE THEM TO APPLY. WE HAVE AN ON-LINE APPLICATION PROCESS. WE CAN DO PHONE INTERVIEWS AND EVERYTHING ELSE TO GET THEM BOOKED AND READY TO GO.

THAT IS ALSO A HELP. >> GOOD EVENING, EVERYBODY.

ALL RIGHT. I'M GOING TO GIVING AN UPDATE ABOUT THE SPECIAL EVENTS. I'M SORRY.

I'M THE SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR.

SO FOR JANUARY, WE HAD THE FARMER'S MARKET.

IT WAS BASED ON HEALTH AND WELLNESS.

WE HAD AROUND 5,700 PEOPLE. AND THE SPONSORS, THEY NEVER CHANGE. IT IS USUALLY THE 7 YOU SEE THERE. WE ALSO THE FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL.

[00:25:04]

THAT WAS AN EVENT WE HAD FOR THREE DAYS.

ATY DEAN WAS AROUND... THE ATTENDANCE WAS AROUND 9,700.

A REALLY NICE EVENT. WE HAD TEENS, FAMILIES, IT WAS A GOOD ONE. FOR JANUARY, WE HAD THE TRIBUTE TO MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. WE HAD AN APPROXIMATE ATTENDANCE OF 150 PEOPLE. THE ONLY SPONSORS FOR THAT EVENT WAS THE CHAPEL. WE HAD TWO SPEAKERS FOR THAT EVENT. IT WAS A NICE EVENT.

FARMER'S MARKET FOR JANUARY. WE HAD THEIR BUSINESS EXPO AND PUBLIC SAFETY. WE HAD AN ATTENDANCE OF 6,000 PEOPLE. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE.

THEY ARE ALL THE SAME SPONSORS. WE ALSO HAD THE JANUARY, 2023 CHALLENGE. IN FEBRUARY, WE HAD ATTENDANCE OF 1,000 PEOPLE. ALSO IN FEBRUARY, WE HAD TO CANCEL, UNFORTUNATELY, THE PET EXPO DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN THAT WE HAD THAT DAY. THAT WAS A LAST-MINUTE CHANGE.

YES, WE HAD TO UNFORTUNATELY.

WE HAD THE CRAFT FAIR ALSO. WE HAD 5,760 PEOPLE FOR THAT ONE. THE SPECIAL EVENTS THAT WE HAD ON JANUARY, FEBRUARY, THEY ARE ALL LISTED THERE.

YOU CAN GO BACK AND SEE IT. I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE TO MENTION THEM. ALL RIGHT.

THE UPCOMING CITY EVENTS THAT WE WILL BE HAVING WILL BE ON FAMILY FUNFEST. FROM 5:00 TO 11:00 P.M.

SATURDAY, IT WAS ON THE 14TH.

FAMILY FUNFEST. THOSE ARE THE DATES THAT WE HAD THE EVENTS ON. ON THE 16TH, THE DAY AFTER, WE HAD THE MLK CEREMONY. UPCOMING, THIS MONTH AND THE NEXT MONTH, IN APRIL, WE WILL BE HAVING BURGER BASH.

RELAY FOR PARKLAND. PARKLAND LACROSSE END OF SEASON PARTY. THAT WOULD BE ALL.

DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COCERNS? I REALLY HOPE TO SEE YOU GUYS ON THIS WEEKEND.

(INAUDIBLE) ON THE NEXT SLIDE. .

>> FOR CLARITY, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT CITY EVENTS OR SPECIAL EVENT PERMITS? SO IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY, ALL THE ONES IN MARCH HAVE TAKEN PLACE INIOUS YEARS.

AND SAME THING WITH APRIL. THEY ARE REOCCURRING EVENTS.

ACTUALLY, I DO TAKE THAT BACK. THE RUN FOR NICK IN MARCH IS A NEW RUN. BEST THAT IS A ONE NEW ONE THIS

YEAR. >> THANK YOU.

NICK WILLIAMS, PARKS AND RECREATION MANAGER.

ALL RIGHT. SO FOR OUR SPORTS IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY, OUR RECREATION GIRLS SOFTBALL STARTED UP.

WE HAD 130 PARTICIPANTS FOR THAT.

OUR TRAVEL GIRLS SOFTBALL HAS APPROXIMATELY 60 PARTICIPANTS.

OUR LITTLE LEAGUE REC BASEBALL HAS 494 PARTICIPANTS.

BUDDY BASKETBALL HAS 105 PARTICIPANTS.

TRAVEL SOCCER HAS 401 PARTICIPANTS.

RECREATION SOCCER JUST ENDED. IT HAS 1,400 PARTICIPANTS.

TRAVEL BASEBALL HAS 118 PARTICIPANTS.

RECREATIONAL LACROSSE WHICH HAD THEIR FIRST GAMES THIS WEEKEND HAS 300 PARTICIPANTS. TRAVEL LACROSSE HAS 146.

RECREATION BASKETBALL WHICH IS IN THEIR PLAY-OFFS NOW, HAS 1,100 PARTICIPANTS. ADULT COED SOFTBALL, SOFT SERVE JUST FINISHED THIS WEEKEND. THEY ARE THE BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPS. THEY JUST FINISHED.

WE WILL START THAT AGAIN IN APRIL.

[00:30:02]

CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM. FOR OUR TENNIS LEAGUES, WE HAVE 22 LEAGUES OFFERED. AND 195 PARTICIPANTS.

AGO THND FEN FOR OUR TENNIS LESSONS FOR ADULTS, WE HAD 492 LESSONS. AND 1,924 PARTICIPANTS.

SOME UPDATES FOR OUR TRAINER CONTRACTS.

WE HAVE TWO PENDING. 12 EXECUTED.

BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, LACROSSE, THEY ALL STARTED THIS WEEKEND WITH THER GAMES. WE HAD REALLY GOOD TURNOUTS FOR OPENING DAY. IT WAS NICE TO SEE THEM ALL OUT THERE. FIELDS C AND D JUST GOT ALL NEW SOCCER GOALS FOR THIS PAST WEEKEND AS WELL.

ADULT CO-ED KICKBALL HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL, AS I SAID.

THE INAUGURAL SEASON JUST ENDED. WE HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE INTERESTED IN SIGNING UP FOR THAT NEXT SEASON AS WELL.

THROUGHOUT THE NEXT COMING MONTHS, WE WILL BE DOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON THE FIELDS AT PINETRAILS TO GET READY FOR THE FALL SEASONS AS WELL. ANY QUESTIONS? ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU.

>> JUST TO FOLLOW UP TO YOUR QUESTION, IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY, I THINK TWO YEARS AGO, WE WERE, LIKE, WE PROCESSED ABOUT 62 TO 63 SPECIAL EVENT PERMITS.

THEN LAST YEAR, NICK, WHERE WERE YOU AT? 75? 78?

>> YEAH. LAST YEAR, IT WAS CLOSER TO 100.

WE HAVE SEEN MORE, TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.

>> YEAH. THERE HAS BEEN.

ESPECIALLY THE PERMITS BECAUSE OF THE GROWTH.

WE HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF PERMITS WE PROCESS

FROM YEAR TO YEAR. >> CHRISTINE GARCIA, SENIOR DIRECTOR OF PARKS RECREATION. A LOT OF THESE PROJECTS WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT, PINE TRAILS PARK PLAYGROUND, AS YOU KNOW, OUR RESURFACING, BOTH THE ENTIRE PLAYGROUND,WORTH THE FRONT LOT AS WELL AS THE BACK LOT AT PINE TRAILS, WE ARE ALSO ADDING AN ADDITIONAL SECTION FOR SWINGS. THERE ARE SEVERAL PIECES O.

EQUIPMENT. MOST OF THEM ARE ON THE FRONT LOT. THEY WILL BE REPLACED AND UPGRADED DUE TO ITS LIFE EXPECTANCY.

WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS PROJECT FOR SOME TIME.

THE CONSTRUCTION, WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE, DID START FEBRUARY 20. WE ARE ON TARGET FOR.

THAT THE EQUIPMENT IS EXPECTED TO BE SHIPPED IN APRIL.

THEY DID A LOT OF DEMO AND SITE WORK THAT THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE PRIOR TO THE EQUIPMENT ARRIVING ON SITE.

AND WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT THE CONSTRUCTION WILL W WILL BE COMPLETED THIS SUMMER. OBVIOUSLY, WE WILL START GETTING INTO RAINY SEASON. WE WILL TRY TO STAY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ON SCHEDULE FOR THIS SO WE CAN HAVE THAT PLAYGROUND OPEN DURING THE BUSY SUMMER MONTHS. THE ADDITIONAL PICKLEBALL COURTS. THAT PROJECT WENT VERY WELL.

CONSTRUCTION STARTED ON NOVEMBER 28.

THE COURTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND ARE NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

WE NOW HAVE SIX COURTS. THEY ARE JUST AS BUSY AS THE FOUR COURTS. IT IS MUCH NEEDED THAT WE HAVE THE TWO EXTRA COURTS ADDED FOR OUR RESIDENTS TO BE ABLE TO PLAY OUT THERE. WE ARE ALSO EXCITED THAT NICK HAS BEEN MEETING WITH SOME FOLKS THAT ARE IN THE PICKLEBALL COMMUNITY. IN REGARDS TO POTENTIALLY STARTING SOME CLINICS AND SOME CLASSES OUT THERE AS WELL, TOO.

WE ARE HOPING TOROLOGY THAT OUT HERE SHORTLY.

THE WEDGE PRESERVE PARK, THIS IS THE NEW 36-ACRE PARK THAT IS LOCATED ON HILLSBOROUGH AND KNOB HILL.

THE OFFICIAL NAME IS WEDGE PRESERVE PARK.

START GETTING USED TO THAT NAME. THE CONTRACT WAS FINALIZED.

THE DESIGN PHASE IS ANTICIPATED TO TAKE ANYWHERE FROM TEN MONTHS TO ONE YEAR. WE DID HAVE OUR KICKOFF MEETING ALREADY WITH THEM. THEY ARE GOING TO BE SCHEDULING SOME ONE ON ONE MEETINGS WITH COMMISSION.

AND RIGHT NOW WE HAVE A SCHEDULE THAT WE ARE PROPOSING TO BRING SOME OPTIONS TO YOU GUYS AT A SPECIAL MEETING ON MONDAY, MARCH 27. IN ORDER FOR US TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THE TIMING OF THIS PROJECT AND MOOCH... MOVE IT ALONG, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE HAD YOUR INPUT AS WELL.

SO I'M ASKING YOU GUYS TO TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR SCHEDULES AND SEE IF MARCH 27 IS A GOOD NIGHT FOR YOU GUYS.

LATER IN THE AGENDA, YOU WILL SEE FOR YOU GUYS TO TALK ABOUT THAT AND BE ABLE TO MAKE A MOTION, IF WE COULD ADD THAT AS A SPECIAL MEETING TO OUR CALENDAR.

OKAY? WE ALREADY ADDED AN ADDITIONAL 19 SPACES WHEN WE DID THE FIELD, PENSION AND EXPANSION AND PARKING LOT EXPANSION IN THIS AREA OF THE PARK WHERE.

YOU SEE OUR RED HANDDRAWN CIRCLE IS SA PROPOSED AREA THAT WE ARE LOOKING AT TO POTENTIALLY OFFER EVEN MORE ADDITIONAL PARKING.

THE DESIGN HAS STARTED. THEY HAVE DONE SOME SURVEYS, AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS NEEDED. DURING OUR DESIGN, WE ASKED THE

[00:35:04]

TEAM TO COME UP WITH TWO POTENTIAL PLANS TO INCREASE PARKING. THAT WILL GIVE US VARYING NUMBERS OF THIS DESIGN. WE HAVE STARTED TO DO ANALYSIS ON HOW MANY CARS ARE ACTUALLY NEEDING TO STILL PARK ALONG HILLSBOROUGH ROAD. WE ARE SCHEDULING FOR A COMMISSION WORKSHOP ON MARCH 15. WE INVITE YOU GUYS TO BE PART OF THAT AS WELL. IT IS GOING TO BE AT 6:00 P.M.

RIGHT HERE IN CITY HALL CHAMBERS.

AND WE WILL BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT THE COUPLE OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS AND HAVE THAT STATISTICAL DATA BACKGROUND IN REGARDS TO WHAT PLAN WOULD POTENTIALLY WORK THE BEST AND WHAT WE ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH. JUST SOME ADDITIONAL PARK PROJECTS THAT WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT AS WELL.

THE BARKING DOG PARK REPLACEMENT.

WE HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ORDER THE NEW PARK BENCHES AND PICNIC TABLES. THEY HAVE BEEN ORDERED.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THAT TO BE DELIVERED THE LAST WEEK IN MARCH. WE WILL CLOSE DOWN THE DOG PARK.

OUR PLAN IS TO CLOSE IT DOWN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

THAT LAST WEEK IN MARCH. SO WE CAN ALSO DO SOME LANDSCAPING AND MAINTENANCE. AS WELL AS INSTALL THE BENCHES AND PICNIC TABLES. THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER HORSE RING RESURFACING. THIS PROJECT, IF YOU RECALL, WENT OUT TO BID. IT WAS OVER BUDGET SINCERELY.

SO WE REDEFINED THE SCOPE. WE WENT BACK OUT TO BID.

WE ARE SCHEDULED FOR COMMISSION APPROVAL FOR THE WEST RING TO BE DONE ON MARCH 15. THIS PROJECT CAME ABOUT FROM OUR PARKLAND HORSEMAN COMMUNITY AS WELL AS OUR GENERAL SITE THAT USED THE RINGS OUT THERE. WE ARE GOING TO RIP UP ALL THAT SURFACING, GET DOWN, AND GET A NEW SUB-GRADE SURFACE TO BUILD UPST, TO MAKE SURE THE SAFETY CONCERN IS MET.

WE ARE JUST DOING THE WEST RING. THE EAST RING WAS NOT AS MUCH OF A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS SOMETHING WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

FOR RIGHT NOW, THIS IS WHAT THIS PROJECT IS ABOUT.

WE TALKED ABOUT THE OTHER FI FIELDS.

THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN APPROVED BY COMMISSION.

AND THEY DID DO A KICKOFF MEETING.

WE ARE LOOKING TO START THIS PROJECT IN JUNE 5, DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS WHEN OUR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SEASONS ARE COMING TO A CLOSE. I DO REALIZE, AND WE ARE WORKING WITH OUR SOFTBALL PROGRAM, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THEY ARE ALSO DOING A TOURNAMENT AFTER THIS TIME AS WELL AS LITTLE LEAGUE SOMETIMES HOAFSES THEIR REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS.

WE WILL WORK WITH THEM. IT IS ONLY GOING TO BE TWO FIELDS THAT ARE CLOSED DOWN. I KNOW NICK IS WORKING WITH BOTH OF THOSE GROUPS IN REGARDS TO THIS PROJECT.

THE LED LIGHTS AT THE TENNIS CENTER, AGAIN, HAS BEEN APPROVED BY COMMISSION. THE CONTRACT HAS BEEN FINALIZED.

LIGHT FIXTURES HAVE BEEN ORDERED ALREADY.

THERE HAS BEEN A SLIGHT DELAY IN THE DELIVERY, AND WE ARE NOW EXPECTING THE LIGHT FIXTURES TO BE ARRIVING TOWARDS THE END OF MARCH. AND WE WILL BE ABLING TO GET THIS PROJECT STARTED, AND THE PROJECT TIME FRAME, ONCE THEY DO START CONSTRUCTION, IS EXPECTED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 30 DAYS, DEPENDING ON WEATHER. WE ARE IN OUR FINAL STRETCH OF OUR DESIGNS. WE HAVE SOME BEAUTIFUL IDEAS OF TILE FROM FLORIDA GROUNDS. NEW FLOORING, NEW PARTITIONS, THE WHOLE NINE YARDS. WE ARE STARTING OVER AT THE PARK. AND BOTH SETS OF DESIGNS WILL BE COMPLETED IN THE NEXT MONTH AND A HALF.

DORIS DAVIS, INVASIVE PLANT REMOVAL AND FENCE REPLACEMENT, WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING SOME EINVASIVE REMOVAL.

WE ARE GOING TO REPLACE THE FENCE AT THAT TIME.

AGAIN, THERE IS A LOT OF LANDSCAPING AND SO FORTH.

IT WILL BE PUSHED BACK FROM THE FENCE LINE FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

IT WILL BE NICE AND FULL AGAIN ONCE VERY SOON.

LIBERTY PARK PLAYGROUND IMPROVEMENTS: WE ARE STILL WORKING ONLY FINALIZING UP THE PROPOSAL FOR THAT.

LIKE WE TALKED ABOUT, WE DON'T WANT TO HAVE OBVIOUSLY, TWO

[00:40:01]

PLAYGROUNDS SHUT DOWN IN THE CITY AT THE SAME TIME.

SINCE PINE TRAILS IS DOWN, WE ARE REDIRECTING EVERYBODY TO LIBERTY PARK AND OTHER PARK PLAYGROUNDS.

WE ARE EXPECTING TO START WORKING ON CONSTRUCTION AT LIBERTY PARK AFTERTHIS SUMMER. WE WILL GET THROUGH THE SUMMER AND GET ALL THE PLANS FINALIZED, AND ALL THE APPROVALS NEEDED, AND START ROLLING THAT PROJECT OUT IN THE FALL.

THAT IS ALL MY QUESTIONS. I MEAN, THAT IS ALL MY UPDATES FOR THE PROJECTS. DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME? ON THE PROJECTS? NO? OKAY.

>> OKAY. REAL QUICK.

YES. AS CHRISTINA ALLUDED TO, THERE IS A SPECIAL MEETING REQUEST. IF EVERYONE HAS CHECKED THEIR SCHEDULES, WE CAN THEN MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MEETING, AND THEN WE WILL BE HERE ON THE 27TH.

DOES THAT LOOK LIKE-- OKAY. I NEED A MOTION AND A SECOND.

>> MOTION TO HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING TO DISCUSS THE WEDGE

PARK PROJECT. >> SECOND.

>> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? >> AYE.

>> OKAY. THE MOTION IS APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. ALL RIGHT.

SEE YOU ON THE 27TH. OKAY.

[9. Old Business]

WHAT'S THIS THING HERE? OLD BUSINESS.

PARKLAND DAY? 60TH ANNIVERSARY.

>> IT IS NOT GOING TO BE ON THE NEXT AGENDA.

>> THE LAST TIME WE WILL SEE THIS ON THE AGENDA.

>> ALMOST OLD BUSINESS ALREADY. >> TWO YEARS OR SO SINCE WE HAVE SEEN THAT. TAKE IT AWAY.

>> LEO GORDON. CHAIR OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE FOR PARKLAND DAY. IT HAS BEEN AN INTERESTING YEAR.

HOW QUICKLY IT HAS GONE. I THINK ANYONE WHO WORKS ON ANYTHING THIS LONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT IS HERE, IT IS DEFER NUTTILY REWARDING. I'M SURE FOR NICK, IN ADVANCE.

I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE TIME. CHRISTINE DID AN AMAZING JOB EXPLAINING THE TIME TO BE THERE, DIFFERENT PROGRAMMING.

TO THANK THE CITY, THANK NICK, CHRISTINE, EVERYONE.

ANYONE WO VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME.

THANK YOU. AND IF I COULD STEAL A MOMENT OF NICK'S TIME TONIGHT. I THINK ONE THING-- THE FEW PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TO IN THE CITY IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO BE THE PARKING SITUATION. GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE EVENT.

THIS WEEK FOR ANY OF US TO HELP THE PROCESS ALONG, WE CAN ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO BE EARLY. DON'T TRY TO GET THERE ONCE IT BEGINS. ESPECIALLY THE PARADE.

I WOULD SAY AS WELL, WITH THE CONCERT, REALLY KIND OF-- FOR US ESPECIALLY, BEING-- HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE ON TIME.

NICK, IF OFF MOMENT, EXPLAIN SOME OF THE PARKING SITUATION.

>> THERE IS ACTUALLY A FEW THINGS.

OBVIOUSLY, IF ANY OF YOU GUYS HAVE COME TO A CITY OF PARKLAND EVENT, WHEN THEY GET BUSY LIKE OUR HALLOWEEN EVENT, FOR EXAMPLE, OUR PARK GETS PACKED. THERE IS PARKING ALL OVER THE PLACE. PEOPLE PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROADS. IT IS ALL OVER.

WE KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE COMING TO THIS EVENT. WE HAVE KIND OF PLANNED ACCORDINGLY. THERE IS TWO THINGS.

ONE, IF YOU GO INTO PINE TRAILS PARK, THERE IS A GRAVEL LOT TO THE LEFT. AS YOU COME IN.

THAT GRAVEL LOT IS GOING TO BE DEDICATED TO PEOPLE WHO ARE DROPPING CARS OFF. IF YOU HAVE AN UBER OR LYFT, YOU CAN DRIVE IN THAT AREA. THEY WILL DROP YOU OFF.

WE ALSO HAVE A SITE ACROSS THE STREET.

THERE IS A BIG GRASS LOT. WE WILL HAVE THAT LOT PREPARED FOR PEOPLE TO PARK. THEY WILL HAVE CONES.

PEOPLE WILL BE HELPING WITH PARKING.

EXTRA LIGHTING AS WELL. IT IS AN EXPANSIVE AREA.

THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF SPACE FOR EXTRA CARS TO PARK THERE.

THERE WILL BE A SHUTTLE SERVICE THAT TAKES PEOPLE FROM THAT GRASS LOT ALL THE WAY TOS THE ENTRANCE OF PINE KRP TRAILS PARK. OR RATHER, THE ROUND-ABOUT.

TWO SHUTTLES WILL GO AROUND ALL NIGHT LONG.

FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF THE EVENT.

TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE WHO CAN'T FIND PARKING IN THE PARK CAN PARK OVER THERE AND GET TO AND FROM.

THOSE SHOULD HOPEFULLY, HELP US AS WELL.

>> TWO THINGS TO PIGGYBACK OFF OF THAT.

THE ACCESS TO THIS LOT IS OFF OF TRAIL'S END.

IT IS NOT THE ONE THAT IS OFF OF UNIVERSITY DRIVE.

OKAY? THAT WILL BE WHERE THE ACCESS WILL BE AT. THE ONE OFF OF TRAIL'S END.

THE SECOND THING IS, LIKE NICK SAID THERE, WILL BE SHUTTLES ALL NIGHT. IT IS NOT GOING TO BE INDEFINITELY. WE ARE GETTING THE WORD OUT.

THAT SHUTTLE SERVICE WILL STOP AT 10:00 P.M.

IF YOU ARE NOT BACK TO YOUR CAR AND GETTING BACK TO THAT LOT BY 10:00 P.M., YOU MAY BE WALKING FROM PINE TRAILS BACK TO YOUR CAR. IF YOU PARKED BACK IN THAT LOT.

YES. THE SHUTTLE W WILL BE AVAILABLE

FROM 4:00 TO 10:00 P.M. >> THANK YOU, NICK.

YES. I THOUGHT THAT WAS IMPORTANT.

ANYONE WHO DOES PLAN ON GOING, REALLY BE ON TIME.

AND AGAIN, TO THE CITY, I'M SURE I'M SPEAKING FOR EVERYONE ELSE.

IF THERE IS ANYTHING OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS ANYONE NEEDS, NICK ESPECIALLY, I KNOW HE LIKES TO DO A LOT.

WE WOULD BE GLAD TO HELP. AND THAT DAY, ANYONE WHO IS ABLE TO BE THERE AND JUST KIND OF KEEP AN EYE OUT, YOU KNOW, WITH

[00:45:04]

THE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE PARADE, ANYTHING ELSE?

>> SO ONE MORE THING. I HAVE E-MAILED YOU.

I KNOW LORI RESPONDED TO MY EMAIL.

ANYONE ON OUR COMMITTEE, I SENT AN EMAIL ASKING YOU IF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN BEING ONE OF OUR JUDGES FOR THE PARADE.

WE WILL BE JUDGING ON A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT CATEGORIES FOR THE PARADE. WE WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND THAT INVITATION TO ANYONE WHO WAS HELPING US THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR V.I.P. AREA AT THE VIEWING STAND AND HELP US KIND OF JUDGE THOSE AS WELL.

I KNOW YOU WILL BE THERE. YOU GUYS ARE ALSO INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT. YOU CAN MEET ME AFTERWARDS.

IF THAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DOING.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU GUYS HELP US WITH THAT AS WELL.

>> PERFECT. ANY QUESTIONS?

>> I HAVE A QUESTION. IF YOU... YOU WENT OVER THE LOGISTICS PART. WAS THERE ANY INTENTION TO, LIKE, SEND OUT A, HEY, EVERYONE, BY THE WAY, YOU KNOW, THROUGH OUR CITY EMAIL ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT, WHERE TO PARK, ALL OF THAT? IS THAT COMING OUT?

>> YEAH. OUR COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT SENDS THAT EMAIL OUT EVERY THURSDAY.

THERE WILL BE ANOTHER ONE GOING OUTS THIS THURSDAY AS WELL.

>> I WANTED TO ALSO JUST GIVE GENERAL SO EVERYBODY IS ON THE SAME PAGE. THE MORE WORD WE CAN GET OUT TO THE PUBLIC, THE BETTER WE ARE. FOR YOU GUYS TO KNOW AND ANYONE AT HOME WATCHING THE MEETING TONIGHT, THERE IS A COUPLE OF MAPS UP ON THE SCREEN. THE FIRST ONE THAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS THE PARADE ROUTE. WHERE THIS RED LINE IS, THIS IS ALONE KNOB HILL ROAD. THIS IS HERON HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THIS IS PINE TRAILS PARK HERE.

THIS RED LINE IS WHAT WE ARE USING AS OUR STAGING AREA, SO FROM PARKLAND RESERVE HERE TO PINE ISLAND ROAD, THIS SECTION FOR OUR STAGING WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 TO NOON. OKAY? OBVIOUSLY, IF WE FINISH OUR PARADE AND WE GET THROUGH THAT AREA SOONER, POLICE WILL GO AHEAD AND OPEN UP THE ROAD SOONER. BUT WE ARE ADVERTISING IT TO EXPECT IT TO BE CLOSED AND USE ALTERNATE ROUTES BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 A.M. AND 12:00 NOON.

ONCE WE START THE PARADE, WE HAVE TO START GETTING READY TO GO AND START OUR PARADE AT 10:00 SO WE ARE GOING TO MOVE THIS CLOSURE HERE FURTHER EAST TO-- WHICH ROAD IS THAT? OLD CLUB ROAD. AND SO IT WILL SHUT DOWN HERE, AND PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DO U-TURNS.

THAT WAY PINE ISLAND CAN GO AHEAD AND GET SHUT DOWN AT 9:45 FOR US TO GET READY TO START GOING DOWN FOR THE PARADE.

I MAY HAVE MENTIONED IT LAST TIME.

I'M NOT 100% SURE. THE PARADE ROUTE WILL ACTUALLY GO IN THE NORTHBOUND LANES BUT HEAD SOUTHBOUND.

THEY WILL BE GOING IN THE OPPOSITE LANES.

THE REASON BEING IS WE ARE INVITIG EVERYBODY TO COME PARK AT PINE TRAILS PARK. THEN WALK TO THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE PARK TO BE ABLE TO SIT TO ENJOY.

THEY NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN LAWN CHAIRS, BLANKETS, WHATEVER MAKES THEM COMFORTABLE. TO SIT THERE AND ENJOY THE PARADE. THEY CAN EVEN SIT HERE ALONG TRAILS INN BETWEEN THE ENTRANCE OF THE PARK AND THIS RECTANGLE, THIS IS WHERE OUR JUDGES WILL BE.

AKA, YOU GUYS. SO THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO HELP AND BE THERE A LITTLE BIT EARLIER, I'M SURE NICK IS COORDINATING WITH YOU GUYS.

WE DO HAVE FLAGS THAT SAY "PARKLAND 60." YOU GUYS CAN HELP PASS OUTS TO ANYBODY SITTING ALONG THE OUTSKIRTS, AND THEN JUST KIND OF HEAD OVER AND BE IN THAT V.I.P.

AREA FOR THE JUDGING. YOU DON'T NEED TO BE THERE UNTIL PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT AFTER 10:00.

REMEMBER, WE ARE STARTING OVER HERE AT 10:00.

WE THE TIME THEY GET OVER TO YOU, IT PROBABLY WON'T BE UNTIL AFTER 10:00. DON'T PANIC IF IT IS, LIKE, I HAVE TO BE THERE AT TEN OF 10:00.

YOU WILL BE OKAY. THOSE ARE THE ROAD CLOSURES.

WE ARE CLOSING THIS TRAIL RIGHT THERE.

THAT WILL CLOSE FROM THERE TO PINE ISLAND FOR THE DURATION OF THE PARADE. UNTIL NOON.

THAT IS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GO NORTHBOUND OR SOUTHBOUND. OKAY? TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, HOWARD, MARKETING HAS BEEN PUTTING THAT OUT. IT IS ALSO ON OUR PARKLAND DAY WEBSITE. THEN ALSO ON THE CITY, ON THE COMMUNICATIONS PAGE, THERE IS A TRAFFIC IMPACT PAGE THAT GOES OUT. IT EXPLAINS ALL OF THESE ROAD CLOSURES AS WELL AND WHAT TO EXPECT.

MOVING OVER TO THE MAIN EVENT, SO YOU GUYS ARE AWARE OF HOW THIS WILL LOOK. TO GET EVERYBODY'S ORIENTATION,

[00:50:03]

THIS RIGHT HERE, WHERE I'M CIRCLING RIGHT HERE WHERE IT SAYS CONCERT, THAT IS THE AMPHITHEATER.

THIS AREA IS THE P-REC. IN BETWEEN, WE WILL HAVE A NICE ENTRYWAY THIS WAY. FOR PEOPLE TO COME THROUGH.

WE WILL HAVE A COMMUNITY ART BOARD PROJECT THERE.

IT IS GOING TO SAY-- WHAT DOES IT SAY? CITY OF PARKLAND. AND IN WOOD LETTERS.

ON A BIG, BIG BOARD. THEY WILL HAVE CONSTRUCTION PAPER. OR --

>> CONSTRUCTION PAYMER. THEY ARE GOING TO BASICALLY TAKE A SMALL SECTION OF CONSTRUCTION PAPER, DECORATE IT, AND THEN PUT IT ON THE BOARD. AT THE END, WE WILL HAVE A BIG GRAND MOSAIC CITY OF PARKLAND BOARD.

IT IS GOING TO BE KIND OF FUN. WE ARE HAVING TWO HUGE SCREENS FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF THE GREAT LINE.

THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON ON EITHER SIDE OF THE PAVERS HERE. THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY, THEY WILL BE DOING THE PRESENTATIONS AND GETTING THE WORD OUT IN REGARDS TO EDUCATING OUR RESIDENTS ON THE HISTORY OF PARKLAND. I THINK WE ARE UP TO 30 EXPOS NOW. WE WILL HAVE 30 BOOTHS THAT WILL STRETCH AROUND TO THE BACK OF THE GREAT LAWN.

THEN WE WILL HAVE A VARIETY OF FOOD VENDORS ALONG THE BACK SIDE. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE IS THESE ARE REST ROOMS. THE REASON WHY WE ARE PUTTING THE PORTABLE REST ROOMS HERE IS TO ALLOW FOR BOTH USE.

WE HAVE REST ROOMS RIGHT HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BASEBALL FIELD ALSO. AND THEN ON THE CORNER OF KNOB HILL AND PINE ISLAND, THERE IS A SMALL REST ROOM THERE.

ANYBODY HERE FOR THE PARADE WILL HAVE THREE AREAS THAT THEY CAN USE FOR THE REST ROOMS. THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE MAIN EVENT SHOULD WE NEED ADDITIONAL REST ROOMS. THERE IS REST ROOMS HERE BEHIND THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND THE REST ROOMS INSIDE THE P-REC WILL ALSO BE OPEN.

IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER OUTSKIRT AREAS.

THEN WHEN YOU CONTINUE TO MOVE OVER BETWEEN THE GREAT LAWN AND THE MULTI-PURPOSE FIELDS, IT WILL BE THE BIG KIDS ZONE AREA.

WITH THE BOUNCE HOUSES AND EVERYTHING FOR THE KIDS TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY. WE WILL HAVE OUR SOUND BOOTH IN THE MIDDLE. WE WILL ALSO HAVE A FITNESS KID ZONE ON NINJA WARRIOR. SNIN YEAH COURSE.

FIT COURSE. AN INTERACTIVE WALL-CLIMBING THING. IT IS KIND OF REALLY COOL.

IT IS A NEW PROGRAM WE ACTUALLY STARTED.

IT HAS BEEN A POPULAR HIT. IT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY FULL.

HE IS GOING TO LET THE KIDS GO AHEAD AND GO THROUGH THAT LITTLE COURSE AS WELL. A LOT OF DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES.

A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON THAT WE ARE EXCITED FOR.

BUT TO REVAMP AND GO BACK TO THE THINGS TO BE AWARE OF AND TO KIND OF KEEP NOTE AND TO HELP SPREAD THE WORD.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND JUST CONTINUE TO TELL PEOPLE TO GO TO OUR WEBSITE.

LOOK AT THE WEBSITE FOR PARKLAND DAY.

ALL THE INFORMATION WILL BE THERE AS WELL.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, FEEL FREE TO CALL US.

>> PERFECT. THAT DEFINITELY SUMMED IT UP NICELY. OBVIOUSLY, WE ALL KNOW THE FUN WE ARE GOING TO HAVE. THE LOGISTICS OF GETTING PEOPLE IN AND OUT WILL BE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

SPREAD THE WORD THIS WEEK. THERE IS ONLY FOUR DAYS LEFT.

THANK YOU. >> HOW MANY, HOW MANY FLOATS ARE THERE GOING TO BE? BRING A LUNCH.

IT IS GOING TO TAKE A WHILE. >> I BELIEVE OUR CATEGORIES ARE BEST ORGANIZATION, BEST SPORTS, BEST ALL-AROUND OR BEST IN SHOW.

BUT WE'VE GOT A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT-- BASICALLY, OUR FLOATS RANGE FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES IN OUR COMMUNITY TO DIFFERENT GROUPS IN OUR COMMUNITY AS WELL AS YOU HAVE SPORTS. YOU HAVE AN H.O.A. IN THERE.

YOU WILL OBVIOUSLY HAVE BSO AND FIRE.

WE HAVE SOME LOCAL CLASSES LIKE DANCE GROUPS, GIRL SCOUTS, AND SO ON AND SO FORTH. SCHOOL.

NOT ALL OF THE SCHOOLS. A GOOD AMOUNT OF THEM.

PARKLAND BUDDY SPORTS AS WELL. OUR SPORTS PROGRAMS. WE DO HAVE MULTIPLE HORSE GROUPS THAT ARE GOING TO BE THERE.

IT IS NOT JUST OUR PARKLAND HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION.

WE HAVE TWO OTHERS THAT WILL BE THERE AS WELL.

>> I NEED TO GET AN UPDATE ON THE SPONSORSHIP STUFF.

HOW DID WE END UP DOING ON THAT FRONT?

>> SPONSORSHIPS, WE HAVE A TOTAL OF FOUR.

[00:55:01]

SO... >> THANKS AGAIN.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE ON SATURDAY.

>> THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU, LEO.

>> COMMENTS FROM STAFF? OKAY.

THEN I NEED A MOTION TO ADJOURN. >> MOTION TO ADJOURN THE

MEETING. >> SECOND.

>> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR? >> AYE.

>> MEETING HAS BEEN ADJOURNED. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, EVERYONE.

SEE YOU SATURDAY.
