AND THEN THEY DID SOMETHING THAT I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER DONE WHERE THEY ACTUALLY GAVE EVERY -- EVERY RESIDENT IN THE CITY OF PARKLAND THE ABILITY TO WEIGH IN ON THE DESIGN. AND I THINK THAT IS FABULOUS. AND I WANT TO SAY IT. FINALLY DURING CONSTRUCTION, ALLOWED A MEMBER OF OUR SECURITY COMMITTEE. WE HAD A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE AND HE SAT ON THE PROJECT MEETINGS ON A DAILY BASIS AND GAVE INPUT ON THINGS LIKE IMPACT AND THEY WERE ABLE TO HEAD OFF PROBLEMS. APPEARED TO THAT END, A SMALL LEST OF PEOPLE I A WANT TO COMMEND IF THAT IS OKAY. FIRST I WANT TO START WITH YOUR CITY MANAGER BECAUSE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE IT IS NOT EMPOWERED FROM THE STOP. MISS CITY MANAGER, WE APPRECIATE THAT. JOHN, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER WHO MANAGED THE PROJECT AND SIMPLY A CELL PHONE CALL AWAY AT ALL TIMES RON WALLACE, CHIEF ENGINEER. MARY, OUR MANAGER SAID HE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TO WORK WITH. HE WAS SUPER RESPONSIVE AND ALWAYS WILLING TO RESOLVE ANY -- ANY ISSUES IMMEDIATELY. SO IN CONCLUSION, THIS WAS AN EXAMPLE OF GOOD GOVERNMENT. AN EXAMPLE OF THE HOA WORK WITH THE CITY TO PUT TOGETHER SOMETHING THAT EVERYBODY CAN ENJOY. I THINK THE OUTCOME WAS BEAUTIFUL. I'M NOT GOING TO GET INTO ALL THE DETAILS AND WE ARE STILL WORKING THROUGH THE -- THE DRAFT OF THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT, TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED. SEPTEMBER 7 IS WHEN IT WILL GO TO THE FULL GROUP TO TAKE A VIEW AT IT. I KNOW NANCY AND ANTHONY HAD SOME TIME TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. SOME OF THE ISSUES THEY HAD CONCERNS ABOUT WERE ADDRESSED. IT IS WORTH NOTE THAT I MADE A COMMENT IN THE LAST MEETING IF YOU TREAT THE GOOD PEOPLE IN THIS CITY, ESPECIALLY ON A SMALL LEVEL TO STEP UP TO SERVE OUR RESIDENTS, EVENTUALLY WHAT YOU END UP BAD PEOPLE STEPPING UP BECAUSE NO GOOD PEOPLE WANT TO DEAL WITH THAT. MY MOM WILL COME IN AND GIVE A GOOD SEMINAR OF BEING A GOOD BOY AND TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED AND SPECIAL SESSIONS SHE GAVE TO ME WHEN I WAS A KID AND I THINKS TORN. OFTENTIMES WE ARE FRUSTRATED WHEN WE GO TO THE BALLOT BOX ON A NATIONAL LEVEL WE DON'T FIND GOOD CANDIDATES ON EITHER SIDE OF THE TICKET AND A REASON FOR THAT I THINK. WE ARE GETTING TO ARE MORE AND MORE OF A SOCIETY WHERE GOOD PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO STEP UP BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE NONSENSE AND UNFAIR CHARACTER ATTACKS IF THEY DISAGREE WITH AN ISSUE THEY ARE AN EVIL OR BAD PERSON. WE NEED TO BE MINDFUL OF THAT, ESPECIALLY IN A SMALL CITY LIKE PARKLAND. THE PERSON THAT YOU WILL POST TO ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS THE PERSON WHO WILL HELP JUMP YOUR CAR OR COACH YOUR KID IN SOCCER WHEN NONE OF THE OTHER PARENTS WILL. IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT WE CAN'T DISAGREE ON ISSUES OR CALL OURSELVES ON THE CARPET WHEN THINGS ARE NOT GOING RIGHT. THAT IS FEAR. IF YOU WERE READING IN THE NATIONAL NEWS, A LOT OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE HAVING SEVERE CHALLENGES MANNING EITHER THE BUSES, THE BUS DRIVERS OR TEACHERS. WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION OF HAVING AN ALREADY SUCCESSFUL FIRST DAY. THAT IS NO SMALL PART DUE TO THE INVESTMENT THAT THE VOTERRS MADE IN 2018 THAT REALLY WOULD ALLOW US TO PROVIDE MEANINGFUL SUPPLEMENTS TO WORK FORCE, FRONT-LINE WORKER, TEACHERS, CAFETERIA WORKERS, CUSTODIAL WORKERS, BUS DRIVERS, BUS ASSISTANCE, THE FRONT LINE OF OUR SYSTEM. I'M HERE TO PRESENT THE RENEWAL OF THE REFERENDUM. THE 2018 REFERENDUM IS SET TO EXPIRE AND BY LAW WILL ONLY GO FOUR YEARS. THE RESIDENTS WILL SEE A BALLOT QUESTION ON THE LAST PAGE OF THE BALLOT AND THE LAST QUESTION. A SIMPLE YES OR NO AND WILL ASK THEM TO CONTINUE FUNDING GOING THEY DECIDE TO DO SO THE THREE BUCKETS. SAFETY IS THE FIRST BUCKET. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DEPLOY 540 SAFETY PERSONNEL THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. I WANT TO THANK THE CITY AND THE CITY HAS A HUGE FINANCIAL COMMITMENT THAT THE SROS OF THE SCHOOLS OF PARKLAND. A FINANCIAL BURDEN TO THE STE AND I WANT TO THANK THE CITY TO ENSURE WE HAVE THE SAFEST SCHOOLS IN PARKLAND. FUND 100 MENTAL HEALTH PERSONNEL THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY AND BIGGEST CHUNK, $82 MILLION SUPPLEMENT FOR OUR WORKFORCE. THE AVERAGE TEACHER RECEIVES $4600 IN THE CURRENT REFERENDUM. ALL THOSE INITIATIVES THE FUNDING WILL GO AWAY WITHOUT THE RENEWAL. IF THE RENEWAL IS SUCCESSFUL 75% OF THAT HAS TO GO TOWARD THOSE SUPPLEMENTS. 17% WILL GO TO SAFETY WHICH WILL REPRESENT AN INCREASE IN THAT BUCKET AND THE SUPERINTENDENT WILL BRING AN ITEM TO THE BOARD TO INCREASE OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE SRO PROGRAM TO LESSEN THE BURDEN TO THE CITY AND A BURDEN NOT ONLY TO PARKLAND BUT OTHER CITIES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. ULTIMATELY A SCHOOL BOARD DECISION AND THE SUPERINTENDENT IS COMMITTED TO BRING THAT ITEM. UP TO 18 -- SORRY, UP TO 8% TO OUR MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS. SO, AGAIN, IT'S ON THE AUGUST 23 BALLOT. SO IF YOU VOTED, YOU PROBABLY HAVE SEEN IT ALREADY. IF YOU WILL VOTE, IT IS ON THE PEOPLE PAGE. WITHOUT THE RENEWAL, THE FUNDS ALSO SUNSET NEXT SUMMER AND THE DISTRICT WILL BE FORCED TO RE-EVALUATE THE BUDGET BECAUSE WON'T HAVE THE FUNDING FOR THOSE ITEMS AND DETERMINE TO BEST MOVE FORWARD. I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF NOISE ON THE 2014 BOND PROGRAM. WHAT I WANT TO SAY ABOUT THAT, THIS PROGRAM IS FOR BUILDING FACILITIES. THIS REFERENDUM IS ABOUT PEOPLE AND FUND SUPPLEMENTS AND BUILDINGS.
