[1. Call to Order]

[00:00:06]

>> GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE CALL TO ORDER THE CITY OF PARKLAND COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING.

THIS 8TH DAY OF MARCH, 2022. I SEE COMMISSIONER CUTLER IS HERE. MAYBE HE CAN LEAD US IN THE PLEDGE. I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

ROLL CALL, PLEASE.

[4. Approval of Minutes ]

>> NEXT ON THE AGENDA IS APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM OUR JANUARY 11TH, 2022 MEETING.

>> NEXT ON THE AGENDA ARE COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS. DO WE HAVE ANYONE HERE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS?

[6. Comments by the Chair and Board]

>> >> ALL RIGHT.

COUPLE OF THINGS I WANT TO GO OVER.

THE CITY DID AN AMAZING JOB THIS YEAR ONCE AGAIN REMEMBERING AND HONORING THE 17 VICTIMS. I WAS PRESENT AT THE PINE TRAILS PARK AM PI THEATER WHERE THEY HAS CLERGY. DRUM CIRCLE AND VARIOUS OTHER ACTIVITY. THERE WAS A BRIEF CEREMONY CONDUCTED BY SPIRITUAL LEADER FOLLOWED BY A SHORT VIDEO HONORING THE VICTIMS. THE VIDEO WAS AMAZING.

VERY, VERY EMOTIONAL. I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATION SHARON CUTLER FOR THEIR SUPERIOR WORK FOR THE DECA STUDENT. THERE WERE 250 QUALIFIERS FOR THE STATE COMPETITION. THE TOP SIX SCORES OF EACH CATEGORY ADVANCED TO THE INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.

I'M PLEASED TO SAY THAT MANY STUDENTS MADE TO ICDC NATIONAL. THE CONFERENCE COMMONLY KNOWN ICDC HIGHEST LEVEL TO BE HELD.

THIS YEAR WILL BE HELD IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA FROM APRIL 23RD TO THE 26TH. I'M ALSO PROUD TO SAY THAT MY DAUGHTER ANGELINA AND HER TWO AMAZING TEAMMATES THROUGH THEIR HARD WORK MADE TO NATIONALS UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF MISS CUTLER. AMAZING WORK.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THOSE THAT MADE IT TO THIS STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. I WAS GOING TO SPEAK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PARKLAND LIBRARY CHILDREN'S WING. BUT I WILL LEAVE THAT FOR SHERRY TO THINK ABOUT IT. I WILL START AT ONE END.

>> ANYTHING TO ADD? I WAS HONORED TO READ ALL THE APPLICATIONS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AND WAS GLAD I WAS NOT ONE OF THE INTERVIEWEES THIS YEAR.

IT WAS A REAL HONOR TO READ THEM AND SEE THE STUDENTS THAT WE HAVE IN OUR AREA IN PARKLAND.

>>> WE WILL GO OVER THAT. THAT'S ONE OF THE AGENDA ITEMS TONIGHT. CAN YOU TURN YOUR MIC UP?

>> ON MONDAY, THE BEAUTIFUL NEW CHILDREN'S WING OF THE PARKLAND LIBRARIES DEDICATED TO AND NAMED AFTER GINA MONTITALDO. SHE EXEMPLIFIED THE LOW OF LIFE, LITERACY AND FRIENDSHIP.

SHE LOVED THE PARKLAND LIBRARY.

SHE FOUND THE CORRECTION OF BOOKS SO INTERESTING ESPECIALLY TO HARRY POTTER AND PERCY JACKSON NOVELS THAT SHE ENJOYED AS WELL AS NUMEROUS CHILDREN PROGRAM SHE ATTENDED IN HER YOUTH. BY NAMING THE PARKLAND LIBRARY CHILDREN WING IN HER HONOR, GINA WILL BE REMEMBERED AND CHERISHED FOREVER IN OUR COMMUNITY.

[00:05:02]

OUR CITY'S CHILDREN LIBRARY IS THE PELL PLACE THAT WILL HELP KEEP GINA'S LIGHT SHINING AS FUTURE GENERATION OF CHILDREN READ, LEARN AND EXPAND THEIR MIND.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN THE CITY THAT MADE THAT HAPPEN.

IT WAS AMAZING. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL THING.

ADDITIONALLY, IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND PARKLAND, JUST WATCH A VIDEO PRODUCED BY THE PARKLAND NEWS CREW. THE TWO YOUNG FEMALE PRODUCERS OF THE SHOW VANESSA RODRIQUEZ WALKER AND AVA DELLA PAULA -- SOUND FAMILIAR? REALLY KNOW EVERYTHING HAPPENING IN OUR BEAUTIFUL CITY. YOU CAN FIND THEIR PAGE ON FACEBOOK OR INSTAGRAM. THEIR NEWS VIDEOS ABOUT EVERYTHING GOING ON IN PARKLAND ARE AMAZING.

PARKLAND CERTAINLY HAS TALENTED KIDS WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY FINAL COMMENT. ITS TRULY A PRIVILEGE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LIVE ENTER VIES OF FINALIST FOR ALL STATE AND COMMUNITY ADVISOR BOARD SCHOLARSHIP AWARD. ONE STUDENT WAS MORE AMAZING THEN THE NEXT EACH WITH THEIR OWN INSPIRING SHUT OF SET OF ACHIEVEMENTS. THE EXPERIENCE GAVE ME HOPE FOR TOMORROW. NEVER HAVE I ENCOUNTERED SUCH ACCOMPLISHED TEAMS WITH SUCH AN ASTONISHMENT WITH CONTRIBUTION TO HUMANITARIAN SUCH AS RAISING OVER QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS TO PAY FOR FOOD TRUCK TO FEED THE HOMELESS. TUTORING THE UNDER PRIVILEGED CHILDREN IN MATH AND CODING.

PLAYING VIOLIN AT CARNEGIE HALL AS THE SIDE NOTE.

PUBLISHING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, INVENTING A MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY APP AND SO MUCH MORE.

I'VE BEEN AN EDUCATOR FOR 30 YEARS.

I WAS A FORMER TEACHER OF THE GIFTED.

I'VE SEEN SOME AMAZING KIDS IN MY DAY.

BUT THIS WAS SOMETHING REALLY, REALLY SPECIAL.

SO THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE.

>> TWO CHILDREN WERE HEADING TO CARNEGIE HALL.

>> AS A SIDE NOTE. AS THE BY THE WAY.

>> JEFF? >> I'M A LITTLE BIT LATE.

>> TERRY IS RUNNING A LITTLE BIT LATE.

>> I HAVEN'T BEEN AR ARAR ARAROUND -- [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] THANK YOU, FIRST AND FOREMOST I WOULD LIKE TO THANK STAFF FOR ARRANGING MY PARTICIPATION IN THE FINAL INTERVIEWS.

IST RECUPERATING FROM MY BOUT WITH COVID AND COULDN'T BE HERE. I WAS ZOOMED IN AND HEARD EVERYTHING AND REALLY IMPRESSED ONCE AGAIN BY THE YOUTH IN PARKLAND. THEY ARE VERY, VERY IMPRESSIVE. I WANT TO THANK MY COLLEAGUES FOR PUTTING UP IS WITH THE ZOOMING IN.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I JUST WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.

I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.

ACKNOWLEDGE IF YOU SEEN THE REPORTS THAT THE WOMEN WHO HAVE FLED UKRAINE, THEY MAY HAVE LEFT WITH THEIR CHILDREN BUT THEY ARE PUTTING TOGETHER ALL THE SUPPLIES THEY ARE STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE AS FAR AS TRYING TO KEEP THEIR FAMILIES TOGETHER.

TODAY IS HOPEFULLY NOT THE ONLY DAY.

I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE ESPECIALLY ALL MY COLLEAGUES IN THIS ROOM. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> HAVING BEEN RAISED BY MOTHER AND THREE SISTERS,

EVERY DAY THE WOMEN'S DAY. >>> RUPERT?

[00:10:01]

>> THANK YOU, SIR. >> APART FROM THE PARKLAND ADVISORY BOARD I'M ALSO INVOLVED IN THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE] I TOO WAS PART OF ONE OF THE INTERVIEWS FOR AN APPLICANT THAT WOULD MAKE THE INITIAL INTERVIEWS AND I TOO WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH EVERYTHING THAT SHE HAD ON HER RESUME. I APPRECIATE BEING PART OF THAT AS WELL. THANK YOU.

>> ANGELICA? >> I KNOW THAT WE ALL SHARE JUST AMAZEMENT AT THE YOUTH AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING THESE DAYS IN OUR COMMUNITY. JUST A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ANGLE. ONE OF MY FAVORITE THING TO DO AT THE PARKLAND FARMER'S MARKET TO TRY TO FIND THE BOOTH WHERE THERE'S A YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR SELLING A PRODUCT OR GROUP OF STUDENT FUND-RAISING THIS PAST SUNDAY A GROUP FUND-RAISING FOR THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY. A LADY CAME UP WITH PRETZEL BAKING KIT. WE BOUGHT ONE.

I LOVE SUPPORTING THEM. I LOVE THEY GET TO BE ROLE MODELS FOR MY CHILDREN WHO ARE JUST IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. I JUST HAD A LITTLE THOUGHT.

I'M SEEKING THEM OUT. THE FARMER'S MARKET HAS GROWN AND IT'S SO INCREDIBLE.

THANK YOU TO THE CITY STAFF FOR PUTTING THAT TOGETHER.

I WONDER IF THE YOUTH COULD BE AN AREA.

WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE. WE KNOW WHERE TO FIND THEM AND I WOULD GO THERE FIRST AND MEET WITH ALL OF THEM.

AND SUPPORT THEM. IT'S JUST SOMETHING MAYBE YOU KNOW IT WOULD BE EASIER FOR OUR COMMUNITY TO BE ABLE TO FIND THEM SO WE CAN SUPPORT THEIR FUND-RAISING EFFORT OR THEIR BUSINESSES IF THERE WAS LIKE A YOUTH AREA OR MAYBE A YOUTH THEME BECAUSE WE HAVE THE GREAT THEMES SOMETIMES. WE HAVE THE CRAFT FAIRS OR THE FIRST RESPONDERS OR WHATEVER.

I WONDER IF THERE'S A WAY TO SHOW CASE SOME OF OUR YOUNG LEADERS AND ENTREPRENEURS USING THE FARMER'S MARKET.

THAT'S ALL I WANTED TO SAY. THANK YOU.

[7. Approval of the Agenda]

>> I'M A LITTLE BIT NERVOUS TO SAY THIS.

NEXT WE HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGENDA?

>> SO MOVED. >> SECOND.

>> OKAY. GREAT.

ALL IN FAVOR SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE.

[8. New Business]

ANYONE OPPOSED. SHOW IT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

>>> NEXT WE WILL GO ON TO NEW BUSINESS WHICH WE WILL COVER THE CITY OF PARKLAND DESIGNATION AS AUTISM-FRIENDLY CITY. LOOKS LIKE THE CITY FINDS NEW WAY TO MAKE PARKLAND MORE AUTISM FRIENDLY.

>> SENIOR DIRECTOR OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS.

YES, THIS HAS BEEN TWO-YEAR JOURNEY TO WORK ON BECOMING AN AUTISM FRIENDLY CITY. WE'RE FINALLY THERE.

DUE TO COVID THIS PROCESS IS DEFINITELY TAKEN US A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN WE WANTED IT TO.

WE HAVE BEEN WORKING TOWARD IT.

THE CITY HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE U.N. NOVA CART PROGRAM. AND THEY'VE GUIDED US ALONG THE WAY.

>>> WHAT THEY DO THEY COME AND DO A SITE VISIT.

GIVE YOU SOME IDEAS ABOUT WHAT YOU COULD DO TO MAKE THINGS MORE FRIENDLY FOR PEOPLE WITH AUTISM.

AFTER THE SITE VISIT THEY GAVE US SUGGESTIONS.

BUT WHAT IT ALSO ENTAILED WAS A LOT OF TRAINING.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE CITY EMPLOYEES HAS BEEN TRAINED IN HOW TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR OUR RESIDENTS WITH

[00:15:03]

AUTISM. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR DEPUTIES THAT WORKS HERE IN PARKLAND HAS BEEN TRAINED.

AND ADDITION TO THAT ALL OF THE PROGRAMMER AT PARKS AND REC HAVE RECEIVED TRAINING HOW TO MAKE PROGRAMS MORE OPEN. AND THE VENDORS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TRAINING AS WELL. ONCE WE GOTTEN ALL THESE PEOPLE TRAINED, WE'VE DONE SOME SOMETHINGS LIKE ON OUR WEB SITE. YOU CAN GO ON THE WEB SITE BEFORE YOU COME INTO A CITY FACILITY AND YOU CAN LOOK AT WHAT THEY CALL A SENSORY MAP.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS SOMEONE WITH AUTISM WHEN YOU COME INTO A CITY BUILDING. WHAT IS THE MEETING LIKE? WHERE ARE THERE SOME AREAS WHERE THERE'S A QUIET ZONE OR WHERE THINGS MIGHT BE NOISY? WE HAVE THOSE THINGS ON WEB SITE AND AT EVERY SINGLE BUILDING WE'VE HAD A QR CODE AS YOU WALK IN.

YOU CAN SCAN THAT AND IT TAKES YOU TO SITE AND PULL UP THE SENSORY MAPS. WE HAVE SOME NARRATIVES AS WELL. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE LIBRARY, OR WHEN YOU COME TO CITY HALL TO COME TO A COMMISSION MEETING.

THOSE ARE AN ASSISTANCE FOR PEOPLE.

WE WERE HAPPY THAT OUT OF THOSE THINGS THAT WE DID, WE CAME IN FOR ACTUAL PHYSICAL FINAL SITE VISIT.

BECAUSE THE FIRST ONE UNFORTUNATELY HAD TO BE VIRTUAL DUE TO COAVID. THEY HAVE DECIDED THAT WE ARE WORTHY OF BEING BROWARD'S FIRST AUTISM FRIENDLY CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR PROGRAM.

WE'RE VERY PROUD TO DO THAT. WE'RE HAPPY THAT WE CAN DO THAT. AND IT'S CERTAINLY OPENED UP OUR EYES TO THINGS WE CAN PROVIDE TO OUR RESIDENT.

NEXT WEDNESDAY MEETING THAT WILL PRESENT THAT DESIGNATION TO THE CITY. SOMETHING THAT WE'RE VERY HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE TO OUR RESIDENTS.

>> NEXT MONTH IS AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH.

AT THE LIBRARY, I KNOW SHERRY KNOWS THIS.

WE ALWAYS HAVE SOME THINGS GOING ON AT THE LIBRARY THAT REPRESENT AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH.

AND SINCE I DON'T GET HERE TO THE MEETING ALL THE TIME.

THERE'S SOME OTHER THINGS WE'VE BEEN DOING AT THE LIBRARY AS WELL. YOU ALL MENTIONED THE DEDICATION FOR GINA ROSA THAT WAS A VERY WONDERFULENT ON MONDAY NIGHT. AND WE WERE SO HAPPY THAT WE COULD HONOR HER IN THAT WAY. LAST MONTH WE HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS GOING ON IN THE LIBRARY IN HONOR OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH. WE HAD ADULT AND CHILDREN'S FILM AND DISCUSSION. THE ONE THING THAT WE REALLY ENJOYEDS MICHAEL WOODWARD. HE'S A LOCAL AUTHOR.

HE'S WRITTEN I BELIEVE 10 BOOKS.

TEN CHILDREN'S BOOKS. AND WE HAD THE STORY WALK BUT PART OF THE STORY WAS WE HAD HIM IN.

AND READ TO THE CHILDREN. WE READ THEM ONE OF THE BOOKS AND THEY WENT OUTSIDE AND THEY DID THE STORY WALK FOR ANOTHER ONE OF HIS BOOKS.

WE'VE BEEN HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE TO THE CHILDREN.

THEY HAD A GREAT TIME. I'M HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION ABOUT AUTISM FRIENDLY CITY OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET SOME INFORMATION ON.

[INAUDIBLE] WE'VE SEEN THAT RECENTLY.

I'M NOT SURPRISED. ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?

>> SORRY. THE OFFER BEHAVIORS THAT ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF SOMEONE WITH AUTISM.

>> THEY DID. LET'S SAY ONE OF OUR EMPLOYEES SEES SOMEONE IN THE BUILDING THEY MAY BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE A WAY TO ASSIST THEM IN A BETTER WAY.

>> I'M CURIOUS. I KNOW SOMETIMES THE PLAYGROUND OR EVEN THE BATHROOMS REQUIRE SOME ACCOMMODATION. DID YOU HAVE TO CHANGE ANYTHING? OR WAS THERE COMPLIANCE WITH

THOSE TYPE OF BEHAVIORS? >> IT'S REALLY MORE AWARENESS. WE HAVE SIGNS IN ANY FACILITIES THAT HAVE LET'S SAY A HAND DRIER.

SOMETHING THAT COULD BE AWEDTORY DISRUPTOR.

THERE'S A WARNING THAT'S THERE.

AUTOMATIC FLUSHING TOILET IS NOT A SURPRISE.

THERE WEREN'T ANY BIG MODIFICATIONS.

[00:20:02]

>> I'M WONDERING AS FAR I DO KNOW YOU CAN DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANY DISABILITIES. I'M WONDERING IF PART OF THIS DESIGNATION REQUIRES THAT THERE BE STAFF THAT

PERHAPS DIAGNOSED -- >> IT DOES NOT REQUIRE THAT.

I DOESN'T REQUIRE THAT IN THE PROGRAM.

BUT YOU ARE CORRECT. YOU DEFINITELY DON'T DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANYBODY.

WE WOULD WELCOME PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO APPLY TO ANY

OF OUR CITY JOBS. >> IT'S VERY TOUCHING.

>> DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? [INAUDIBLE] [INAUDIBLE]

THANK YOU. >> I WAS CURIOUS IF YOU COULD GIVE EXAMPLE FOR PARK AND REC OR THROUGH THE LIBRARY THAT ARE CONDUCIVE OR ADAPTIVE OR THOSE WITH AUTISM OR SENSORY PROCESSING ISSUES? I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN SAY THERE'S ANYTHING SPECIFICALLY. BUT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR PROGRAMMERS HAS RECEIVED A TRAINING.

LET'S SAY IF THERE'S SOMEONE THAT COMES TO A PROGRAM WHO IS ON THE SPECTRUM, THEN THEY KNOW WHAT TYPE OF THINGS THEY CAN DO TO MODIFY A PROGRAM.

OR TO AT LEAST MAKE IT MORE ACCESSIBLE TO THEM OR TO UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE BEHAVIORS SO THEY CAN ADJUST THINGS IN THEIR PROGRAM. THERE ISN'T ANY SPECIFIC PROGRAM THAT ARE NECESSARILY FOR YOU KNOW PEOPLE ON THE SPECTRUM. I KNOW THERE'S ARE IN THE COMMUNITY. EVERY SING ONE OF THE PROGRAMS NOW IS GETTING THAT EYE.

WE SO THEY CAN MAKE THAT CHANGE THAT THEY NEED TO AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE LIBRARY PROGRAMMERS AND DIRECT PROGRAMMERS HAVE THAT TRAINING.

IT'S BEEN OFFERED TO OUR VENDORS AS WELL.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH. >> YOU'RE WELCOME.

[9. Old Business ]

>> NEXT ON THE AGENDA WE HAVE OLD BUSINESS.

WE WILL FIRST START WITH THE INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY

SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATE. >> YES, THANK YOU.

AND MY PORTION OF THE UPDATE IS BRIEF.

JUST WANTED TO BRING BACK TO THE BOARD THAT OUR DECEMBER 14 SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING, ONE OF THE ITEMS WE DISCUSSED TAKING A LOOK AT THE POSSIBILITY FOR A FARMER'S MARKET. I WANTED TO LET THE BOARD KNOW THAT WE WILL MOVE FORWARD TO CITY COMMISSION APRIL 10TH AND 11TH FOR CONSIDERATION FOR BUDGET FOR THE FUTURE. THAT WOULD KICK OFF LATER IN THE YEAR. MY PORTION OF THE UPDATE IS BRIEF. TAMIKA WILL HAVE SOME

THOUGHTS AND SUGGESTION. >> WE SEE HER AS PART OF THE

SUBCOMMITTEE. >> WELL, ACTUALLY SHE IS.

>> SHE'S A PART OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE.

IT'S NICE -- I SEE HOW YOU MADE NUMBER ONE.

>> YES. YES.

>> HOW ARE YOU DOING TODAY? >> THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I'M JUST FIRST OF ALL I JUST WANTED TO ECHO THE COMMENTS THAT THE AUTISM I DON'T HAVE ANYONE IN MY FAMILY THAT'S AUTISTIC. IT'S IN THE SPIRIT OF DIVERSITY. [INAUDIBLE] ONE OF MY COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS CAN TALK A LITTLE BIT. SHE'S BEEN DOING HER WORK IN PARKLAND AS THE CORPORATE PERSON AND NOW AS THE BUSINESS OWNER. SHE CAN SHARE HER EXPERIENCE

[00:25:01]

AS WELL. JUST A FOLLOW UP SOCCER EVENTS AND WE'VE HAD LUNCH FOR A COUPLE OF PEOPLE.

REALLY GREAT PHONE CONVERSATIONS.

I WANTED TO THANK ALL MEMBERS OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE, INTRODUCING SUCH AMAZING PEOPLE.

THE DEPUTY SHERIFF, [INAUDIBLE] WE WANTED TO BUILD BRIDGES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. ACROSS DIFFERENT SOCIAL BUBBLES AS WELL. THIS ORGANIZATION WE MET LAST WEEK. [INAUDIBLE] THINGS ARE HAPPENING. WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT. IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU YOU'VE BEEN DOING DIVERSITY WORK FOR QUITE SOMETIME.

[INAUDIBLE] I'M THE FORMER CHAIR OF THE PARKLAND CHAMBER. NOBODY KNEW.

>> MY FRIEND ASKED ME TO COME.

I SAID I'M HAPPY TO COME. I LIVE IN PARKLAND.

I DID GO TO FORT LAUDERDALE. [INAUDIBLE] IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO COME BECAUSE THIS IS OUR

CITY. >> YOU HAVE A LONG RIDE

HOME. >> I CAN WALK HOME.

I'M HERE BECAUSE I THINK I COMMEND YOU ALL.

FOR EVEN HAVING THIS DISCUSSION.

BECAUSE THIS DISCUSSION ABOUT DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AND MULTICULTURAL. IT CAN BE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR SOME PEOPLE. AND THE FACT THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AND TAKING IT ON AS THE CITY.

I COMMEND THE CITY FOR DOING THAT.

I THINK ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO -- [INAUDIBLE] WE WERE LOOKING AT MULTICULTURAL. WE DID A SURVEY IN THE CITY OF PARKLAND. WE KIND OF MIXED IT UP.

WE SEPARATED INTO MINORITIES AND WE ASKED QUESTIONS.

THE RESULT WERE PRETTY INTERESTING.

IN THAT YOU KNOW SOME PEOPL ENOUGH THINGS IN THE CITY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FOR DIVERSITY.

I'M FROM THE BAHAMAS. WE DON'T HAVE THIS DISCUSSION. WE DON'T HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT DIVERSITY BECAUSE ITS HAPPENING ORGANICALLY.

THE FACT THAT SHE'S TALKING AUTISM AND WE TALKED ABOUT CULTURAL. I HAD AN ADULT DAY CARE.

I SOLD IT A MONTH BEFORE COVID HIT.

I HAD ABOUT 62 PEOPLE IN THE FACILITY.

HALF OF THEM WERE ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES AND AND THE OTHER HALF WERE SENIORS WITH DEMENTIA.

I CAN RELATE TO YOU. THAT'S A UNIQUE POPULATION.

THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT REALLY ORGANICALLY WE SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON VERSES FOCUSING ON RACE, BECAUSE RACE SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE. WE'RE ALL HUMAN BEINGS.

YOU KNOW, THE REALITY WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT.

I THINK WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT IT IN TERMS OF DIVERSITY TO EXCLUDE MINORITIES. I THINK WE SHOULD ALSO TALK ABOUT DIVERSITY INCLUDING THOSE PEOPLE WHO CANNOT HELP THEMSELVES. THEY SHOULD NOT BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST WHETHER THEY ARE BLACK, WHITE OR WITH AUTISM OR DOWN'S SYNDROME.

WE NEED TO LOVE PEOPLE. BECAUSE AT END OF THE DAY, MY MOTHER DIED FROM COVID THREE MONTHS AGO.

WHEN I LAID HER TO REST,IST AFRAID, I THINK I NEED TO TAKE THE CROWN OFF HER HEAD. SOMEONE WILL STEAL IT.

WHEN YOU GO DOWN SIX FEET UNDER YOU DON'T TAKE ANYONE WITH YOU. YOU LEAVE BEHIND YOUR

[00:30:01]

LEGACY. WHO YOU ARE.

THAT'S THE ONLY THING THAT'S IMPORTANT.

AND WHAT DIFFERENT YOU MADE IN YOUR LIFE, THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILDREN. YOUR FAMILIES MEMBERS AND YOUR COMMUNITY AT-LARGE. THAT'S WHAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT.

SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR HOME. YOU KNOW WE HAVE GREAT LEADERS AND I LOVE THE DIRECTION IT'S GOING.

>> YOU WERE ONCE A LEADER AND YOU CONTINUE TO BE A LEADER. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.

>> CAN I SAY ONE THING? >> OF COURSE.

>> I WAS JUST SO INSPIRED. THIS DID NOT COME UP DURING THE MEETINGS. BUT I LEARNED ABOUT COMMISSIONER CUTLER AND TANIKA'S EFFORT AND OTHER TO ADVOCATE FOR THE RENAMING OF A PORTION OF DAVEE BOULEVARD IN MEMORY OF STACY UNFORTUNATELY A VICTIM OF LYNCHING IN FORT LAUDERDALE IN 1935, ACTUALLY.

AND SO I KIND OF LEARNED ABOUT THIS THROUGH FACEBOOK.

AND IT JUST MADE ME REALIZE THAT SO MANY OF US ARE DOING SUCH IMPORTANT WORK RIGHT HERE IN OUR CITY.

BUT THEY ARE ALSO GIVING BACK WELL BEYOND THEIR IMMEDIATE COMMUNITY. I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR

LEADERSHIP. >> OKAY.

NEXT WE HAVE PREFERSING PARKLAND HISTORY SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING UPDATE. OKAY.

ON FEBRUARY 1ST, THE SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS MET VIRTUALLY. IF YOU REMEMBER AT THAT MEETING, WE COULD MAKE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS.

BECAUSE WE'RE JUST A SUBCOMMITTEE.

WE HAD TO TAKE ITEMS TO THE MAIN BOARD.

WE TALKED ABOUT AT THAT MEETING REGARDING VARIOUS IDEAS THAT WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD DURING THE ANNIVERSARY NEXT MARCH. I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND READ INTO THE RECORD THE FOUR MAIN IDEAS THAT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING.

THE FIRST IDEA WAS THE CREATE OF A FLOAT WHICH WOULD BE THEMED PARKLAND THEN AND NOW.

THE SECOND IDEA WAS THE CREATION OF A HISTORICAL VIDEO TO BE HIGHLIGHTED AT THE EVENT ITSELF.

NEXT AT THE DAY OF THE EVENT YOU WOULD HAVE HISTORICAL BOOTH AT THE EVENT. AND THE LAST IDEA WAS THE CREATION OF A CLUES IN THE PARK PARKLAND PORTAL ADDITION. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS DISCUSSION AT OUR SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING, WHICH MR. CUTLER AND JEFF SCHWARTZ WAS A PART OF THAT MEETING.

THEY INDICATED TO US THEY'VE TAKEN A LEAD WITH MOVING FORWARD THE HISTORICAL VIDEO.

THEY'VE TAKEN A LEAD IN ORGANIZING THEIR GROUP TO START WORKING ON IDEAS FOR WHAT THE BOOTH WOULD LOOK LIKE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

OBVIOUSLY FOR THE EVENT YOU WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR SET UP FOR BREAKDOWN AND ANY ASSISTANCE THEY MAY NEED.

AND THEN WHAT EYE LEARNED -- WHEN I GOT HERE TO MY MEETING, MR. SCHWARTZ LET ME KNOW THEY PROVIDED ALL THE QUESTIONS THAT THE CITY NEEDS FOR THE PORTAL ADDITION. THAT TASK IS COMPLETE.

TWO TIMES THEY HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD IN.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS POTENTIALLY TO HELP WITH THOSE TASK THE MAIN ITEM I THINK WE SHOULD DISCUSS.

THE CONVERSATION AT THE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING.

BILL TOOK THE LEAD AND SAID HE WOULD THE LEAD.

HE SAID HE WOULD BRING IT BACK TO MEETING TO TALK I WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS. I THINK TONIGHT WE HAVE TO RATIFY. I WILL TURN IT OVER TO YOU

CHAIR. >> I APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT YOU STEPPED UP TO BE A MEMBER.

I DON'T KNOW WE HAVE TO DO ANY TYPE OF INDUCTION OR ANY TYPE OF -- TO HONOR INTO THIS GROUP.

BUT SHE'S NOW -- YOU'RE NOW A PART OF IT.

WE APPRECIATE YOU DOING THIS FOR US.

YOU WILL HELP ME. EXCELLENT.

WHO ELSE RUPERT? I NEED SOME HELP.

WHO ELSE CAN HELP US WITH THE FLOAT? IT'S GOING TO BE A BIG PROJECT.

I KNOW JEFF WILL HELP US. HE WILL GIVE US GUIDANCE AS FAR AS WHAT WE WANT TO CO. WHAT WE WANT TO ADD TO THE

[00:35:06]

BOOTH. SOMEHOW INCORPORATE THAT INTO THE BOOTH. WE GOT SOME -- IF JEFF CAN GIVE US INCITE THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

>> WE HAD THIS GREAT MEETING.

I'VE BEEN INVOLVED NUMBS TIME IN THE PAST IN NEW YORK CITY FOR ANOTHER PROGRAM. IF YOU LOOK AT PARK LONDON IT GOES BEFORE PARKLAND. WE TALKED ABOUT TAKING A FLOAT AND MAYBE THE FRONT OF THE FLOAT HAS YOU KNOW A BEACH SCENE SO INDIANS AND THE CANOE.

WE TALKED ABOUT ORCHARDS. BECAUSE PARKLANDS USED FOR A LOT OF ORCHARDS. AND THEN MOVING INTO THE LAST PART OF THE FLOAT WHICH IS MODERN DAY PARKLAND AND TAKING IT THAT WAY. IT'S PROGRESS FROM THEN TO NOW. SHOWING THE HISTORY OF THE ORCHARDS THAT USED TO BE HERE.

THEN THE MODERN SOCIETY AND BEAUTIFUL PLACE WE HAVE HERE TODAY. THAT COULD BE SHOWN BY KIDS ON A SOCCER FIELD. A SMALL SIDE THING ON THE FLOAT THAT COULD SHOW UP OUR CURRENT MIDDLE AND PAST HISTORY COMPLETELY. [INAUDIBLE] WE NEED TO COME UP WITH A DESIGN THAT WORKS FOR EVERYBODY THAT INCORPORATES THINGS JUST LIKE TO SHOW HOW CULTURALLY DIVERSE A CITY IS.

THAT'S A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO GO AROUND THE SKIRT OF THE FLOAT. WE COULD DO SOMETHING HIKE THAT VERY SIMPLY CREATING AT THE THREE SIDES THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO HAVE ALL THE FLAGS OF MANY NATIONS.

I THINK THAT'S A WONDERFUL IDEA.

>> COUPLE OF THINGS I WANTED TO ADD.

WE HAD KRISTINE GARCIA PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR.

AND SHE LEADS UP THE PARKLAND DAY SUBCOMMITTEE THROUGH THE PARKS AND REC BOARD.

THEY WILL COME UP WITH AN OVERALL THEME.

WE TALKED ABOUT WAITING TO HEAR WHAT IT WOULD BE HAVE WHAT WE ARE DOING. NOT TO SAY IT WOULD CHANGE JEFF HAS ENVISIONED. JUST TO MAKE SURE WE WORK WITHIN THE PA RAM TERRA HAUTE -- PARAMETERS OF THE EVENT ITSELF. WE TALKED ABOUT THE MAGNITUDE AND SCOPE OF THE FLOAT.

WE TALKED ABOUT DOING SOMETHING POSSIBLY SIMPLIFIED. SOMEONE'S BOAT WE ARE USING.

SOMETHING YOU COULD WORK AROUND THAT YOU ARE NOT BUILDING A FLOAT FROM SCRATCH.

YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE SIZE AND LIABILITY.

I JUST WANT TO PUT IT OUT IN DISCUSSION AS WELL.

>> AS FAR AS VOLUNTEERS, I THANK YOU BOTH FOR STEPPING UP WITH THE OTHER TWO TO HELP US WITH THAT.

SO FAR I RUPERT AND DENISE. WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THINGS FROM THE PAST. COLD WE POSSIBLY GET STUDENTS TO BE INVOLVED AND POSSIBLY WEAR A COSTUME.

LOOK INTO GETTING SOME COSTUMES?

>> I WAS THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES.

WE PROBABLY HAVE AN ART DEPARTMENT AT OUR HIGH SCHOOL. WITH TALENTED TEACHERSED A TALENTED STUDENTS AND MATERIALS OR RESOURCES AND IDEAS. AND VOLUNTEERS POTENTIALLY; MAYBE IF WE ENLIST THEM IN SOME ASSISTANCE.

THAT COULD BE A VALUABLE RESOURCE.

>> COULD WE HAVE ANOTHER CONTEST?

>> JUST, YOU KNOW -- FROM WHAT WE SAW THE OTHER DAY.

SEEING WHAT SHE'S KIDS ARE CAPABLE OF.

JUST BLEW ME AWAY. THE REALITY SUCH A RESOURCE

[00:40:02]

AT OUR OWN SCHOOLS WITH KIDS THAT COME UP WITH IDEAS AND SOME DRAWINGS AND COSTUMES AND THINGS LIKE THAT WHERE WE CAN MAKE SOMETHING SPECTACULAR.

>> THE IDEA SOUND GREAT IN CONCEPT.

I JUST KNOW WE HAVE MULTIPLE THINGS THAT WE PULL ON THE SCHOOL AS THE CITY. THINGS THAT WE HAVE TO DO IN TERMS OF TIME LINE. THAT FOR ME TO PULL THIS TOGETHER FOR THE BOARD MIGHT BE CHALLENGING.

I'M JUST THINKING THIS EXERCISE MIGHT BE BEST DONE

BY SOMEONE ON THE BOARD. >> I HAVE NO PROBLEM COORDINATING IT. MY QUESTION DO WE HAVE A PROBLEM? IS THERE ANY LOGISTICAL PROBLEM? YOU KNOW COMMISSIONER CUTLER

CAN EXPLAIN. >> ALL

>> I HAVE NO PROBLEMS SPEAKING WITH THE

PRINCIPALS. >> THE CITY WILL HAVE A FLOAT WHICH WITH WHAT WE TALK ABOUT HERE TONIGHT.

THE SCHOOLS IN THE PAST ALSO HAVE DONE THEIR OWN FLOAT.

>> WE HAVE HAD RIVER GLADE AND FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY HAD FLOATS. THEY ARE LOOKING AT THE THEME CONCEPT. WE HAVE BUSINESS PARTNERS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT HAVE FLOATS.

TONIGHT IS REALLY ABOUT YOU GUYS COMING WITH SOME IDEAS AND DECISIONS ABOUT THE CITY FLOAT AND THE CITIES HISTORY AND ALL THAT KIND OF TOUGH. THAT'S WHERE THE FOCUS

SHOULD BE TONIGHT. >> RUPERT, GET YOUR HAMMER READY. WHAT I'M UNDERSTANDING THERE'S SEVERAL FLOELTS WITHIN THIS.

WHAT'S THE TIME FRAME WE LACK TO BUILD THESE FLOATS.

WE HAVE A YEAR WE'RE PLANNING AND THEN WE -- IN THE LIGHT OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION.

YOU HAVE SEVERAL OLDER PEOPLE IN THIS COMMUNITY THAT MIGHT WANT TO PARTICIPATE.

I KNOW MY DAD IS MOVING IN WITH ME.

HE CAN PICK UP A HAMMER AS WELL AS ANYONE ELSE.

HE CUT DOWN A INDUSTRY IN MY YARD.

I'M THINKING WOULD THERE WITH A POSSIBILITY OF SOMEHOW WE GET TO THAT THE COMMUNITY AND WHO WOULD LIKE

TO HELP? >> ABSOLUTELY.

THE WHOLE IDEA OF PARKLAND DAYS TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER. THE MORE THINGS THAT WE CAN DO TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER, INCLUDING BUILDING FLOATS, I HAVE LOTS OF PICTURES FROM THE OLD PARADE THAT I CAN SHOW YOU. SO YOU CAN GET A CONCEPT OF IT. WE HAVE MARCHING BANDS FROM SCHOOL COME OVER. AND WE HAD THE SHRINERS RIDE THEIR MOTORCYCLES AROUND AND DO THOSE KIND OF THINGS.

THE TROOPERS CAME OUT ONE YEAR.

THERE'S ALL KINDS OF STUFF THAT CAN GO INTO THE PARADE THAT WILL MAKE IT A VERY NICE EVENT.

THEN, OF COURSE CULMINATES IN PARKLAND DAYS OVER AT THE PARK. THE IDEA TONIGHT TO GET SOME CONCEPTUALIZATION AND WHAT YOU WANT TO HAVE THE CITY DO FOR THEIR FLOAT. [INAUDIBLE] WHERE DO WE DO THAT? THE LOCATION TO PUT THESE THINGS TOGETHER. BRINGING IN ALL THE MATERIALS THE KIDS THE FOOD TO HELP THE LIGHTS TO KEEP EVERYBODY WORKING BECAUSE IT'S A LONG NIGHT.

THAT NIGHT BEFORE THE PARADE.

GETTING THOSE FLOATS TO LOOK LIKE THE FLOAT THAT WE ALL WATCH PARADES OUR WHOLE LIFE WHICH IS WHAT WE WANT THEM TO BE. DOESN'T TAKE THAT MUCH.

BUT IT'S A LONG NIGHT THAT NIGHT BEFORE.

VOLUNTEERS ARE HUGELY IMPORTANT.

IN GETTING THE KIDS AND SCHOOL INVOLVED.

>> I THINK SOME HAVE EMPTY NESTER GROUPS.

TELL ME YOUR NAME AGAIN. YOU BROUGHT THAT UP WITH THE AGING COMMUNITY. TEY HAVE GONE INTO FAMILY I THINK THIS WOULD BE A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO GET THEM INVOLVED AND DO THAT. AND I THINK IT WOULD BE MORE THAN WILLING TO BE A LIAISON IF OTHERS CAN BE LIAISON IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND WE CAN GET SOME OLDER FOLKS.

I THINK THEY WOULD LOVE TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

THEY WOULD LOVE A PURPOSE AND WITH ABLE TO HELP.

[00:45:05]

>> I THINK THAT'S GREAT. I WANTED TO PUBLICLY I'M HERE TO HELP. JUST A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS, DO WE HAVE A BUDGET. DO WE HAVE SOMEONE AUSTISZ TIC THAT CAN TAKE THE IDEAS AND DESIGN SOMETHING.

WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL WE HAVE A DESIGN.

AND THE BUDGET. I DON'T KNOW.

>> IS THERE A BUDGET FOR THIS?

>> THAT'S THE TOPIC OF THIS CONVERSATION.

I'M GLAD CORE LETTE IS HERE TO HELP US OUT WITH THIS THINGS. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO SPEND? OBVIOUSLY WILL THIS BE MORE VOLUNTEER ALSO AS FAR AS VOLUNTEER EXPENSES. REMEMBER INITIALLY HOW THIS WORKED. THEY WENT TO SAY, HEY WE MIGHT HAVE SOME IDEAS. YOU GO BACK AS THE BOARD AND FIGURE WHAT YOU WANT IT FOR. YOU WILL HAVE AN OVERALL BUDGET FOR THE PARKLAND DAYS AND DEPENDING WHAT WE BRING BACK POTENTIALLY IT COULD BE PARLIAMENT OF THE BUDGET OR THEY MAY LOOK BACK AND SAY YOU MAY HAVE TO DO YOUR OWN FUND-RAISING. FIRST THINGS FIRST WHEN I LEAVE THE MEETING TONIGHT. IT SOUNDS LIKE WE WILL BRING ALL FOUR IDEAS TO THE PARKLAND COMMITTEE AND WE WANT TO BE PART OF THE ROTATION.

FROM THAT POINT ON WHY YOU ASK ABOUT VOLUNTEERS YOU NEED ELEMENTS OF THIS PROJECT.

THOSE LEADER HAVE TO TAKE LEAD WHO WILL HAVE CONSTRUCTION. WHO WILL D THE PLANNING AND THEN YOU COME UP WITH THE BUDGET WHAT WE WANT TO DO AND SEE IF POTENTIALLY THEY CAN FUND THAT TO THEIR PROCESS -- WE WILL HAVE TO DO FUND-RAISING.

>> I'M SURE MY ESTEEMED COLLEAGUES.

I DON'T THINK WE BUILT A FLOAT BEFORE.

WITH JEFF,IST THINKING POSSIBLY WHEN WE FIGURE OUT WHO IS ON THE COMMITTEE, MAYBE WE CAN HAVE A MEETING WITH JEFF AND SIT DOWN BECAUSE JUST TO PICK HIS BRAIN FOR 15 MINUTES WILL SAVE US FIVE DAYS.

[INAUDIBLE] I NECESSARILY THERE'S CERTAIN PEOPLE THAT KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE TOWN.

THEY MAY HAVE GREAT PHOTO AND ILLUSTRATION AND THINGS LIKE THAT. I'M SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF THAT. MAYBE JUST FIRST WE GOT TO FIND OUT WHAT THE THEME IS FROM THE CITY.

ONCE WE KNOW WHAT THE THEME IS.

WE WILL KNOW HOW TO INCORPORATE OUR FLOAT INTO THE THEME. THEIR NEXT SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING ON MARCH 16TH. WE WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS AS AREA OFFERING. EVEN IF THEY DON'T HAVE THEME BEHOOS US TO HAVE ANOTHER MEETING AT SOME POINT FOR WHAT WE WANT. IF I HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE THAT KNOWS ILLUSTRATION TO SIT DOWN AND DRAW SOMETHING OUT, DIAGRAM OF -- JEFF IS HERE UNTIL JUNE, I THINK.

FOR THE PURPOSE OF OUR COMMITTEE FOR THIS; I KNOW WE HAVE MYSELF, RUPERT AND DENISE.

>> YOU CAN COUNT ON ME. YOU CAN COUNT ON ME.

>> ONE OF THE THINGS I WAS THINKING ABOUT IS REACHING OUT TO CHURCHES FOR VOLUNTEERS.

I THINK CHURCHES SOMETIMES DO THOSE TYPE OF THINGS ESPECIALLY FOR SOME OTHER ACTIVITIES.

THEY MAY HAVE PEOPLE THAT KNOW HOW TO BUILD THE

FLOATS. >> WE SHOULD PICK SOMEONE WHO WILL BE THE LEAD FOR THE START OF THE PROCESS.

>> ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS I WOULD THINK ABOUT.

RIGHT NOW, I NOTICING THAT THIS ANCESTRY.COM STUFF IS ALL REALLY THE RAGE. AS THE COMMUNITY FINDING OUT WHO WE'RE RELATED TO, THAT COULD BE KIND OF A FUN BOOTH TO HAVE ONE THERE WERE YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

WE DID THAT AS THE LITTLE GROUP.

THAT COULD BE A REALLY FUN BOOTH TO HAVE.

>> WHO ELSE WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF OUR COMMITTEE TO GET

[00:50:03]

THE OTHER SUBCOMMITTEE TO GET THIS FLOAT TOGETHER?

>> THIS IS ABOUT THE BUILDING OF THE BOOTH AND ALL THAT. I ANT TO KNOW WHO ARE THE MEMBERS. YOU HAVE CARA.

YOU HAVE YOURSELF. DENISE IF SHE WANTS TO PART

OF IT. >> JEFFS ON ALSO.

>> AS FAR AS THE BILLIONEDING PART OF IT.

THAT'S TEDIOUS WORK. WHO WANTS TO BE PART?

>> I WILL BE PARLIAMENT OF THE BUILDING PROCESS.

JEFF CAN HELP US WITH THAT AT LEAST UNTIL JUNE TO GIVE US GUIDANCE. [INAUDIBLE] IT'S THE HEIGHT BEFORE. WE GOT TO BUILDUP TO IT.

>>> IS YOUR IDEA OF THAT BEING ON ONE FLOAT OR THREE

DIFFERENT FLOATS? >> MY IDEA WAS ONE FLOAT.

IF WE CAN BORROW OR RENT TRAILER THAT'S 25 FEET LONG WHICH ILY IN THE RANCHES HALF OF MY NEIGHBORS HAVE THEM. WE CAN PUT ALL OF STUFF ON ONE FLOAT. ALL OF THE FLAGS CAN GO AROUND THE SKIRT. TEN FEET ON THE FRONT WITH ISLAND SOME KIDS DRESSED UP AS INDIANS IN CANOE.

MIDDLE SECTION OF TEN TO 15 FEET SHOWING YOU KNOW THE ORCHARDS WITH KIDS DRESSED UP AS FINGERS.

I'M JUST THROWING IDEAS OUT. THEN LAST PART COULD BE KIDS DRESSED IN SOCCER AND BASKETBALL SHOWING MODERN

DAY. >> THAT'S A FANTASTIC IDEA.

I THINK IT'S A HUGE UNDERTAKING.

I DON'T SUPPORT THE BOOTH. I DON'T THINK PEOPLE WILL

PICK UP ON. >> I THINK THAT'S FINE.

I THINK AGAIN I'M JUST THROWING OUT IDEAS.

>> I DON'T SEE THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THAT.

MAYBE MORE THAN ONE. IN THE CITY OF PARKLAND.

THAT'S PART OF OUR HISTORY. IT'S VERY, VERY WELL-KNOWN.

I'VE GOT A WHOLE PLAN IN MY MIND.

I GET TO SEE IT IN MY MIND. I DON'T SEE IT AS BEING A

BIG UNDERTAKING. >> I SEE IT AS THE SIMPLE

PROGRAM. >> THAT'S JUST MY IDEA.

IT'S JUST ONE IDEA. IT'S UP TO THE ENTIRE GROUP.

JUST ONE BIG MOUTH IN THE GROUP.

>> HOW MANY THEMES DO YOU SEE ON THE FLOAT.

YOU SAID THREE. DO YOU REALISTICALLY SEE MORE THAN THREE THAT YOU CAN FIT WHERE PEOPLE -- PEOPLE WILL BE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET.

YOU HAVE ONE THEME ON THIS SIDE AND ANOTHER THEME ON

THIS SIDE. >> BONE TO BACK.

>> BONE TO BACK. EARLY PARKLAND.

MID PARKLAND. CURRENT PARKLAND.

FORWARD TO BACK. FLAGS AROUND THE BOTTOM TO SHOW OUR DIVERSITY IN THE COMMUNITY.

YOU PUT THE NAMES ON PARKLAND THEN AND NOW.

IT SHOWS THE BACKGROUND WHERE WE STARTED.

WHERE WE CAME FROM AS FAR AS OUR EARLY SINCE THE 1900S WITH ORCHARDS. AND THEN IT SHOWS OUR

CURRENT MODERN DAY. >> YOU COULD PUT LIKE A SIGN SAYING FROM 1900 TO WHAT EVER.

WHATEVER DATE. 1945 TO 19 # 5.

WHAT EVER. >> THE TRUCK THAT'S PULLING OR THE PICKUP TRUCK OR TRACTOR PULLING THIS TRAILER THAT'S GOING TO HAVE SIGNAGE ON IT ALSO.

PARKLAND THEN AND NOW. 1900 TO CURRENT DAY OR

[00:55:01]

WHATEVER. SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES.

>> I SEE HOW EVERYBODY'S MINDS ARE WORKING.

IT'S A YEAR AWAY. I THINK WE TAKE BABY STEPS FIRST. WE HAVE A SUBSEQUENT MEETING TO TALK. JUST LIKE WE START OUR CONVERSATION BEFORE THE SUBCOMMITTEE.

WE JUST KEEP TALKING WITH THE PLANNING MAYBE BY THE TIME WE GET TOGETHER OTHER GREAT IDEAS COME TO FOREFRONT. WE FIGURE OUT.

WHAT YOU TRY TO GET AT JUST FIGURE OUT WHO THE LEADERS ARE. MAYBE WE PEOPLE THINK ABOUT BY THE TIME YOU GET TO YOUR SUBCOMMITTEE.

>> EXACTLY. WHAT WE NEED TO HAVE MEETING WITH ALL THE MEMBERS. THAT'S ON THE SUBCOMMITTEE.

WITH JEFF, WE CAN SIT DOWN AND WE CAN FIGURE OUT.

>> ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS I WILL YOU, DENISE, WE HAVE ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF OUR HISTORIC SOCIETY IT'S WORKING ON AN IDEA FOR FOR THE HISTORICAL BOOTH.

KIND OF THINK OF IDEAS. WALKING THIS WAY.

FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE IDEA OF STATIONARY PICTURES OR MAYBE WITH THE HELP OF IT FROM PARKLAND.

MAYBE SOME RACKS WITH SOME VERTICAL TELEVISIONS ON IT THAT COULD RUN VIDEOS OF PICTURES AND HISTORY.

FOLLOW THE FLOAT THROUGH THE BOOTH.

TO GIVE YOU EARLY HISTORY MIDDLE HISTORY.

[INAUDIBLE] I THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE THE FIRST FLOAT -- [INAUDIBLE]

>> AIM THINKING. MIKE AND I WERE THINKING.

PIGGYBACKING ON WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.

[INAUDIBLE] WHY DID THE INDIANS LEAVE? [INAUDIBLE] YOU NEED TO CARRY A

MICROPHONE. >> THE HISTORY OF PARKLAND GOES WAY BACK. YOU HAD PEOPLE COMING IN FROM THE EAST COAST TO THIS SITE OF INDIAN THEN YOU HAD THE WEST COAST. THEN THEY WENT NORTH AND SOUTH. IT HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR THOUSANDS OF YEAR. [INAUDIBLE]

[01:00:06]

EUROPEANS EXCUSE BROUGHT IN DIFFERENT DISEASES AND THINGS LIKE THAT. THERE WAS NOTHING AS FAR AS THEY COULD DO FROM THEIR SIDE AND CAPABILITY TO PREVENT THE EUROPEAN SETTLERS FROM TAKING OVER.

WE USE THE GARAGE PUMP. AS THE WAY FOR US TO SURVEY AND LOOK AT WHAT THEY DID AND HOW THEY LIVED.

THEY WERE RIGHT HERE IN PARKLAND.

WE'RE TWO MINUTES AWAY FROM THE ISLAND THAT THEY LIVED IN. IT'S AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR HISTORY. WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE CITY TO SUPPORT US AND MAKING THAT CULTURE EDUCATION. FOR SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES AND CHILDREN FOR THE NEXT 150 TO 2 HUFRN YEAR TO SURVEY AND STUDY WHAT TOOK PLACE HERE IN PARKLAND.

ONE OF THE REASONS I ASK THAT BECAUSE I HAVE UNTIL

DECEMBER. >> GREAT.

>> I WANTED TO HAVE SOME BACKGROUND.

YOUR IDEA IS REALLY AT THE BEGINNING OF RECORDING TIME FOR PARKLAND. IT'S THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY.

AND THERE'S SO MUCH IN THE HISTORY THAT I THINK THAT PERSONALLY, I THINK THAT REQUIRED SOMETHING SPECIAL.

SHOULD BE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. >> IT'S AMAZING STORY.

SOMETHING THAT I REALLY FEEL THAT I REALLY WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT. AND THEN YOU'RE RIGHT.

EVERYBODY SHOULD LEARN ABOUT IT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. >> THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING.

WE NEED TO FIND THE THEME FOR THE CITY.

THEN WE WILL FIND THAT OUT WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO ANYWAYS. WHEN WE KNOW WHAT THE THEME IS. WE CAN SIT DOWN WITH JEFF.

BECAUSE WHETHER IT'S 60 YEARS OR 600 YEARS IT WILL

BE INSTRUMENTAL. >> HE GOT US EXCITED.

WE WILL MEET AS SUBCOMMITEE.

THEY WILL COME UP WITH THE IDEA.

THERE MAY BE ELEMENTS OF HIS IDEA TO GET INTEGRATED MORE.

>> YOU WOULD LOVE TO BE A PART OF THIS AND HELP US

OUT. >> THEY NEED VOLUNTEERS.

>> OUR FLOAT IS ONE OF MANY FLOATS OF DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE GOING TO BE IN THIS.

AND THIS SPECIFIC FLOAT THAT WE ARE ASSISTING THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY WITH IS REPRESENTING THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY. THAT'S WHY JEFF'S IDEA OF IS HISTORY OF PARKLAND. BECAUSE THAT'S THAT'S THE ORGANIZATION WE BUILD THE FLOAT FOR.

LIKE EVERY ORGANIZATION WILL HAVE A FLOAT THAT REPRESENTS THEMSELVES IN THIS PARADE THAT'S AN ANNIVERSARY.

WE ARE SPECIFICALLY BUILDING A FLOAT FOR THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY. WHICH IS WHY -- THAT'S A GREAT POINT. INITIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE DIALOGUE. WE'RE HAVING ISSUE INCLUDING PEOPLE WE TALKED ABOUT DIFFERENT WAYS TO HIGHLIGHT THEIR SOCIETY. RELATED TO HISTORY.

>> THEY HAVE ANOTHER FLOAT FOR THAT.

WE ARE HERE FOR THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

WE KNOW TO GO BACK IN HISTORY AND TAKE IT FROM THERE. THAT'S WHY, AGAIN WE'LL HAVE A MEETING. SIT DOWN WITH JEFF.

WE'LL GO OVER WHAT WE THINK COULD BE THE THEME OF THE FLOAT. AND I DON'T REALLY WHETHER THE THEME OF THE CITY IS THEN AND NOW OR HERE AND NOW. I DON'T CARE.

WE'RE HERE FOR THE HISTORY OF IT.

THAT'S WHAT THE FLOAT IS ABOUT.

WE HAVE TO DESIGN COME UP WITH THEMES WE CAN PUT ON

[01:05:06]

THE FLOAT. WE WILL TAKE IT FROM THERE.

AS FAR AS GETTING SOME HELP LIKE SHE MENTIONED, MAYBE WE CAN REACH OUT. MAYBE SHE CAN TAKE A LEAD ON THAT. I THINK WE SHOULD WAIT BEFORE WE START GIVING YOU TITLE AND THE JOB.

I WILL DO MY BEST TO SET UP A MEETING FOR US.

>> I GUESS NEXT ON THE AGENDA IS PORT A.M.S OF

PARKLAND'S PAST. >> LET ME GET MY NOTES HERE.

WE WENT AHEAD AND SENT THE APPLICATIONS TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO SOLICIT PARTICIPATION IN THE SUMMER PROGRAM. THAT APPLICATION I BELIEVE IS DUE THE 18TH OF THIS MONTH.

WE'LL KNOW THE KIDS WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PARTICIPATE. MY ASK OF THE BOARD IS SIMILAR TO OTHER PROCESSES. WE'RE GOING TO NEED PEOPLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE APPLICATION.

THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT. IT'S NOT AN ESSAY.

WILL BE A VIDEO CONFERENCE. WE WILL REVIEW THE VIDEOS AND SCORE THEM AND RANK THEM.

THE KIDS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM IN THE SUMMER.

JUST A QUICK UPDATE AS WELL. I THINK I SAID AT THE LAST MEETING GO AHEAD AND SECURITY THE SERVICES OF THE PROFESSIONAL COMPANY THAT DOES GIS WORK.

TO HELP US WITH FINAL MAPPING.

THEY ALREADY HAVE MARCHING ORDER THEY WILL INTEGRATE THE STUDENTS INTO THE PROCESS FOR THE CREATION OF PAGE. AND FINALLY, EYE BEEN WORKING WITH MY PUBLIC WORKS STAFF AND THEY ARE STILL SECURING QUOTES FOR US FOR THE VARIOUS SIGN.

WE'RE GOING TO GET TWO OPTIONS AND I WILL BRING BACK TO THE SUBCOMMITTEE. OF THOSE TWO OPTIONS WE WILL GET A RECOMMENDATION FOR THE ONE WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD WITH IT. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE PRICING TO SEE HOW MANY LINES WILL BE ALOUD.

OUR INTENTION TO KEEP THE LINES CLEAN.

I KNOW WE'RE ASKING TO TAKE PART IN THAT PORTION.

THAT'S WHAT WE NEED. WHO WILL HELP OUT WITH THE ACTUAL REVIEW OF THE APPLICATIONS AND THE VIDEOS

WHEN THEY COME BACK? >> I WILL BE A PART OF THAT

ONE. >> YES, SIR.

[INAUDIBLE] WILL IT HAVE KENDRA'S NAME

ON THE SIGN. >> I KNOW I WILL BE PART OF THAT COMMITTEE AS WELL. WHO ELSE WOULD LOVE TO

REVIEW THOSE? >> YOU HAVE DENISE.

YOU HAVE KARA. ANYBODY ELSE WANT TO BE A

PART OF THESE VIDEOS? >> HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU

NEED? >> OKAY.

THOSE APPLICATION WE WILL GET THEM IN, IN APRIL.

THEN WE WILL START COORDINATION.

THANK YOU. >> NEXT WE HAVE AN UPDATE TAB SCHOLARSHIP AND THE O 2022 ATHLETE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP INTERVIEWS HELD FEBRUARY 28TH TO 22.

THANKS FOR COMING. >> GET READY TO HELP US WITH THE BOOTH. NOT THE BOOTH THE FLOAT.

>> GET READY. >> THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR EFFORTS. IN THIS PROCESS.

I'M GOING TO BREAK IT UP INTO TWO SEGUES.

WE RECEIVED 28 APPLICATIONS FOR THE CAB.

WE WENT AHEAD AND WE INTERVIEWED SIX.

[01:10:06]

WE MAKE AWARD RECOMMENDATION TO THE CITY COMMISSION.

THE $2000 AWARD WENT TO LAYNA HELEN.

THE $1200 AWARD WENT TO SOPHIA ROTHENBURG.

AND THE $ 800 AWARD WENT TO SARAH UREA.

EVERYONE DID GREAT. I FELT FOR THE BOARD MEMBERS. IT REALLY STARTED GETTING TOUGHER AND TOUGHER AS YOU WENT ALONG.

IT WAS REALLY, REALLY GOOD APPLICATION.

WITH REGARD TO ALL-STATE WE RECEIVED FOUR APPLICATIONS AND AWARDING TWO SCHOLARSHIPS OF EQUAL AMOUNTS. $500.

AND THE FIRST SCHOLARSHIP IS GOING MICHELLE BURNT.

AND IN THE SECOND SCHOLARSHIP IS GOING TO KEEFE EARTH FOR HOW CLEANING ITEMS, THESE RECOMMENDATIONS AND THE PRESENTATION FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN APRIL. NOT SURE OF THE DATE YET.

I THINK IT WILL BE CHECK THERE FOR THE APPLICANT.

>> EXCELLENT. >> ONE THING I WOULD LIKE TO DO I WOULD LIKE TO AT LEAST YOU KNOW HONOR THE OTHER CHILDREN THAT GOT THIS FAR. AS FAR AS THE ALL-STATE I KNOW WE GAVE THE TWO SCHOLARSHIPS.

BUT LET ME TELL YOU NICOLE AND GRACE WALKER WERE THE OTHER TWO THAT MADE IT TO THE TOP FOUR.

THEY WERE UNBELIEVABLE AS WELL.

AND FOR THE CAB WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO GIVE OUT THREE SCHOLARSHIPS. I WISH WE COULD HAVE GIVEN OUT SIX. WHICH HAD THREE -- THIS WAS A TOUGH PROCESS. THE OTHER THREE WERE VERY CLOSE AS FAR AS NUMBERS WERE CONCERNED.

JUST A MATTER OF YOU KNOW, POINTS THAT SEPARATED THESE SIX KIDS. THEY ALL DID AN AMAZING JOB.

JUST FROM 28 DOWN TO SIX. THEY SHOULD ALL BE VERY PROUD OF THEMSELVES TO GET THAT FAR.

LIKE I SAID IT WAS PRETTY AMAZING TO SEE.

I KNOW YOU MENTIONED IT. [INAUDIBLE]

>> ONE THING I WANT TO MENTION AND GIVE CREDIT A RECOMMENDATION MADE BY THE BOARD TO GO BACK TO COMMISSION. AND WE GOT THAT GRANTED.

JUST FOR COMPARISON PURPOSES, OUR CAB SCHOLARSHIPS LAST YEAR, THE HIGHEST SCHOLARSHIP WAS 1,000. THE SECOND TIER SKIP WAS $600 AND THEN $400. BASICALLY WE DOUBLED THE SCHOLARSHIP. I WONDER IF WE COULD DIVIDE IT OUT A LITTLE BIT. THAT'S SO HARD.

READING ALL THE APPLICATIONS TO AND MINE WERE VERY CLOSE AS WELL. CAN WE GIVE MORE MONEY OUT? I REALLY FELT FOR SOME OF THE KIDS THAT WERE LIKE POINTS AWAY FROM THE OTHERS. I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT WORKS.

I KNOW BECAUSE THE TWO -- THEY ARE BIG SUMS. [INAUDIBLE] WAY TO BRING IT UP.

GOOD JOB. >> EXCELLENT.

NEXT ON THE AGENDA. OLD BUSINESS.

WE HAVE YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM UPDATE.

>> YES. >> HERE'S ANOTHER PROGRAM WE HAVE. THIS ONE OUR INAUGURAL PROGRAM FOR THE YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM.

WE'VE GONE AHEAD AND WE HAVE PUT OUT INFORMATION TO ALL OF OUR AREA HIGH SCHOOLS. I HAD SOME CONVERSATION WITH SOME FOLKS. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE'S STILL A LITTLE BIT -- THE WORD NOT GETTING OUT.

I DID REACH OUT TO MY COMMUNICATIONS TEAM TODAY.

JUST THE HIGHLIGHT THAT WE WANT TO KICK OFF.

[01:15:01]

THE PROGRAM IS WE'RE GOING TO SELECT FIVE PARKLAND STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN YEAR-LONG PROGRAM.

THIS WILL BE OUR 11TH GRADERS AND WE ARE SELECTING 11TH GRADERS TO COME IN AND REPRESENT.

WE WILL HAVE ROBUST PROGRAM AND LEARN DIFFERENT ELEMENTS O HOW GOVERNMENT WORKS. THEY WILL VISIT THE SEPARATE DEPARTMENTS IN THE CITY. WE WILL HAVE THEM ATTEND THE BUDGET WORKSHOP HERE AT THE CITY.

WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THEM PARTICIPATE ADVISORY BOARDS.

THEY WILL HAVE THEIR OWN PROJECT.

THEY WILL HAVE TO WORK ON THAT WILL DETERMINE THAT PROJECT. IN TERMS OF THE BOARD'S PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROCESS, AGAIN YOU WILL HELP US SELECT. THEY WILL BRING BACK APPLICATIONS WITH THEIR ESSAYS AND PACKETS.

AND WE WILL GO THROUGH ESSAYS AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS. [INAUDIBLE] WE COORDINATED THROUGH THE PRINCIPALS OF THE HIGH SCHOOLS; RIGHT? APPLICATIONS ARE ON THE CITY'S WEB SITE TOO. WE PUT OUT THE FACEBOOK POST. WE HAVE A LINK TO THE CITY'S WEB SITE AND APPLICATION. NOT ONLY THE APPLICATION BUT THE ACTUAL PROGRAM. [INAUDIBLE] WE WILL OFFER A SCHOLARSHIP. EVERY WASATCH FRONT.

>> WHAT ABOUT THE ABILITY TO MAKE QUOTES?

>> NOW THEY HAVE TO WORK ON SPECIAL PROJECT.

JUST PUTTING THAT OUT THERE. THE PROGRAM APPLICATION AT ANY OTHER PROJECTS ASSIGNED BY THE CITY COMMISSION.

NEXT WILL BE OLD BUSINESS. WE HAVE COMMUNITY SERVICE

PROJECTS UPDATE. >> AND YES, THIS PROJECT YOU MAY REMEMBER BACK WHEN WE HAD OUR SEPTEMBER MEETING.

WE TALKED ABOUT WHAT WE WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS YEAR. I BELIEF ONE OF THE BOARD MEMBERS SAID WE SHOULD DO A PROGRAM IN THE SPRING TIME WHERE WE PROVIDE BUSINESS ATTIRE.

THIS IS JUST ME BRINGING BACK TO BOARD TO SAY WE WANT TO KICK OFF THE PROCESS NOW. I BELIEVE ALSO AT THE END WHEN WE'RE DONE SHERRY WILL GIVE US AN UPDATE.

[INAUDIBLE] I FOR ONE THOUGHT THAT WAS AN EXCELLENT IDEA. [INAUDIBLE] I FOR ONE FEEL LIKE WE SHOULD MOVE FORWARD WITH IT.

TAKE A VOTE. SEE IF THAT'S WHAT'S NECESSARY. IT'S YOUR PROGRAM.

I THINK YOU HAD ROBUST DISCUSSION LAST TIME.

YOU AS THE GROUP DECIDED ON THIS PROGRAM.

YOU SAID LET'S HOLD TO SPRING TIME AND KICK IT OFF.

>> I LIKE THE IDEA. I GUESS WE START WITH RUPERT. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

[INAUDIBLE] >> IS IT JUST -- INTERVIEW?

IT'S MORE BUSINESS ATTIRE. >> BUSINESS ATTIRE.

THAT'S WHAT THE PURPOSE OF IT WAS.

WAS MORE BUSINESS ATTIRE. THAT COULD MEAN SOCK

>> DRESS SHIRTS. DRESS JACKET.

I DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PEOPLE JUST GOING INTO INTERVIEW WITHOUT A JACKET. YOU GIVE THAT WORK ENVIRONMENT. PUTTING UP SOMETHING RIGHT

[01:20:05]

HERE. THE CITY EVEN AT THE AMPHITHEATER OVER THAT AREA. JUST START DUMPING THEIR CLOTHES IN THAT THEY NO LONGER WANT.

I KNOW I FEEL PLENTY OF BOXES MYSELF.

>> WE HAVE INITIATIVE TO FIGURE OUT LOGISTICS.

AND ONCE I KNOW THE INFORMATION --

>> I THINK IT'S GREAT. I WAS ALSO THINKING ABOUT LOGISTICS. IF YOU HAD WHEREVER IT WAS WHEREVER THE POINT WAS WHERE RESIDENTS KNOW THEY CAN BRING THEIR OLD SUITS. IT MAY BE SOMETHING TO CONSIDER IN JACOB'S SHOES. THE SHOES THAT GO WITH THE SUITS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT 501C-3 YOU WORLD WORK WITH -- IS THERE ONE IN PARTICULAR THAT DOES -- MAYBE WOMEN IN DISTRESS?

>> THERE'S BROWARD COUNTY THERE'S -- ON YOUR WAY DOWN TO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER THERE'S SOMETHING IN BROWARD CALL THE BROWARD PARTNERSHIP FOR THE HOMELESS.

>> PERFECT. >> I'VE ALREADY BEEN GATHERING STUFF. I WAS THINKING WE MAYBE NOT WANT TO THROW SUITS IN A BOX.

SOMEHOW HAVE THEM COLLECTED IN A NICER WAY SO THE SUITS AREN'T ALL WRINKLED BY THE TIME THEY GET THEM.

>> SOMETHING AT THE FARMER'S MARKET.

>> THAT'S A GOOD IDEA. >> THEY COULD BRING A TENT AND WE COULD HANG THEM ON THE HANGERS.

WOULDN'T THEY HAVE TO ALL BE DRY CLEANED ANYWAY.

>> I HAVE NO CLUE. [INAUDIBLE]

KARA, YOU ALL FOR IT? >> GOOD.

RUPERT, WHAT ARE YOU THOUGHTS ON TAKING THE LEAD ON THIS ONE? [INAUDIBLE]

>> WE HEAR A LOT OF THINGS THAT GO OFF.

I SPEAK TO SO MANY PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS HAPPENING. WE GOT TO FIGURE.

I WISH WE HAD SOME TYPE. >> --

>> YOU WILL GET THE WORD OUT.

A LOT OF PEOPLE AREN'T ON FACEBOOK.

A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THOSE.

>> THEY HAVE E-MAILS SO THEY CAN SUBSCRIBE AS RESIDENT AND YOU GET ALL THE E-MAILS. I CONSTANTLY SHARE THEM WITH EVERY THING I'M AWARE OF DAY AFTER DAY.

>> THE NAME OF THAT E-MAIL SERVICE.

THE LAST TIME -- [INAUDIBLE] IF YOU WANT TO GET THE INFORMATION, YOU CAN GET THE

INFORMATION. >> I HEAR IT ALL THE TIME.

I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS. I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAVE THAT AT THE AMPHITHEATER. [INAUDIBLE] WHAT I THINK WE SHOULD DO -- [INAUDIBLE] THE BROWARD PARTNERSHIP IS A 501C3.

DAY ARE LOCATED FORT LAUDERDALE.

PERHAPS THEY WOULD COME AND PICK IT UP.

OR PROVIDE BOXES FOR US TO PUT IT IN.

>> THEY ARE PART OF BROWARD COUNTY.

THEY ARE 501C-3. THEIR PURPOSE TO REDUCE HOMELESSNESS BY PROMOTING INDEPENDENCE AND AT SLOW

ADVOCACY HOUSING. >> IT'S VERY LEGITIMATE.

PEOPLE WHO GO THERE TO VOLUNTEER TO FEED THE

[01:25:04]

HOMELESS. IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR CHILDREN OR YOUR FAMILY OR ANYTHING ELSE IF YOU CALL THEM. AND IT'S REALLY AN UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE. IF WHO ARE CONCERNED HOW WE WILL COLLECT. MAYBE WE PICK A DAY WHERE WE DO A DRIVE THROUGH. I LOVE THE IDEA OF THE FARMER'S MARKET. HAVE A TENT THERE.

AND PEOPLE KNOW IT WILL BE THERE.

THEY MIGHT JUST START BRINGING THEIR STUFF RIGHT TO THE FARMER'S MARKET. THIS IS NEW THING WE'RE TAKING ON. IT'S A LEARNING PROCESS LIKE THE OTHER THING IS. AS FAR LIKE THE HARVEST DRIVE THAT CAME UP WITH THE IDEA MAYBE WE CAN KIND OF PIGGYBACK OR MAYBE WE CAN SIT WITH HER AND SPEAK AND SHERRY CAN MAYBE GIVE US SOME IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS.

WAS IT YOU? >> I BROUGHT IT.

I WANT TO SAY TWO YEARS AGO TO THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD. AND IT WAS UNANIMOUS.

THEN BROUGHT TO THE CITY COMMISSION AND EVERYONE ON THE COMMISSION INCLUDING MAYOR KNEW ALL ABOUT THE HARVEST DRIVE. THEY WERE VERY EXCITED TO EMBRACE IT AS THE CITY. AND SO THEN I GOT INTO PLANNING MODE AND I SPENT I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU HOW MANY DOZEN AND DOZENS OF HOURS CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE AND COMING UP WITH A PLAN. AND PRESENTED IT.

AT THE NEXT MEETING AND ITS PRETTY SEAMLESS.

IT'S BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL WITH THE CITY.

>> MAYBE WE CAN SIT DOWN. I'M THERE TO HELP YOU AS

WELL. >> I WANTED TO SAY THE REASON WHY THE HARVEST DRIVE WORKED GREAT.

THEY HAD SYSTEM IN PLACE. WE JUST ACTED AS A CONDUIT

FOR THEM. >> THEY ARE IN EVERY SCHOOL IN BROWARD COUNTY. THE MIDDLE SCHOOL IN PARKLAND HAD A VERY STRONG GROUP.

REACHING OUT AND CONNECTING THAT DOT WAS EASY.

>> I SUSPECT ONCE HE MAKES THE PHONE CALL AND HIM AND I GET TOGETHER WE WILL HAVE MORE CLARITY MOVING FORWARD.

I THINK I WILL BE WORKING WITH RUPERT TO FIGURE OUT A

WAY THE DO THIS. >> I HAVE AN OFFICE TWO MINUTES FROM HERE THAT HAS PLENTY OF ROOM IF WE PUT

THINGS IN MY OFFICE. >> WE'LL FIGURE THAT OUT.

THEY WANT THE STUFF PRETTY FAST.

IF WE WILL HAVE THE SUITS THEY WANT THE SUITS.

[INAUDIBLE] CAN I MAKE A SUGGESTION? MAYBE INSTEAD OF TRYING TO KILL TWO BIRDS WITH TWO STONES SO TO SPEAK. THE HARVEST DRIVE ALREADY HAS THE INFRASTRUCTURE. THEY HAVE A TENT FOR THE FARMER'S MARKET. THEY ALSO HAVE A STORE, WHERE FAMILIES CAN COME WHO HAVE CHILDREN IN ANY SCHOOL IN BROWARD THAT ARE AT THE POVERTY LEVEL.

THEY COME IN AND THEY GO SHOPPING ESSENTIALLY FOR FREE. THEY CAN PICK OUT SUITS AND CLOTHING AND SHOES. AND IT'S ALL DONATED.

AND IT'S VERY ORGANIZED. IT LOOKS LIKE A DEPARTMENT STORE. THE FAMILIES GO THROUGH THE DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS AND THEY TAKE WHAT THEY NEED.

MAYBE WE COULD SUPPLY THE HARVEST DRIVE WITH SUITS FOR THE SUIT DEPARTMENT. JUST TO SORT OF STREAMLINE THE PROCESS. THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS THERE ALREADY WITH HARVEST DRIVE. IT'S JUST A THOUGHT.

>> THAT'S A GREAT IDEA. >> IF IT'S GOING TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT NEED IT.

THEN WHY NOT? >> I THINK WE'RE TALKING

ABOUT THE SAME NEED. >> IF WE HAVE SURPLUS, THEN WE CAN GO WITH SOME OTHER IDEAS AT THAT POINT.

LET'S HOPE WE HAVE SURPLUS. IF THAT'S THE CASE WE CAN GIVE IT TO THREE OR FOUR DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS.

I SAY GREAT FOR NOW. ANYTHING WE GET UNTIL THEY SAY WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH. I THINK THE HARVEST DRIVE IS GREAT. GREAT PLACE.

>> THEY ARE COMING TO THE UPCOMING THIS SUNDAY AT THE LIBRARY THEY HAVE THE TRASH TO TREASURES EVENT.

THERE'S 60 PARKING SPOTS. THEY'VE BEEN RENTED FOR $35

[01:30:03]

FOR THE DAY. THE MONEY GOES TO FRIENDS OF LIBRARY TO FUND PROGRAMS AT THE LIBRARY.

AND PEOPLE FROM PARKLAND WHO RENTED THESE SPOTS BRING ALL OF THEIR THINGS. IT'S A COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE. AND IN THEIR PARKING SPOT.

THEY SET UP THEIR TENT AND TABLE AND THEY BRING ALL OF THEIR STUFF, THEIR TRASH, AND NOT ACTUAL TRASH BUT THINGS THEY DON'T NEED OR ANYMORE.

PEOPLE COME TO BUY THINGS AT THIS GARAGE SELL.

AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHATEVER NOT SOLD THE PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE OPTION OF JUST SAYING BYE AND LEAVING THEIR THINGS AND GOING HOME WITH WHATEVER MONEY THEY MADE FROM SELLING.

AND THEN WHATEVER IS LEFT BLIND THE HARVEST DRIVE IS COMING WITH SOME SUV'S TO COLLECT EVERYTHING LEFT OVER AND IT'S ALL BEING DONATED TO CHARITY.

IT'S A WIN FOR THE LIBRARY. IT'S A ONE FOR THE CHARITY.

IT'S A WIN FOR PEOPLE RENTING THE SPOTS.

I RENTED A SPOT. MAYBE JUST A THOUGHT, MAYBE WE CAN HAVE I KNOW IT'S SHORT NOTICE BECAUSE IT'S NEXT SUNDAY. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY HAS A DONATION TABLE WHERE PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO SELL THEIR STUFF. THEY DON'T WANT TO BE BOTHERED. THEY WANT TO DONATE IT AND THE MONEY GOES TO LIBRARY. MAYBE THERE COULD BE A SECOND TABLE THERE FOR JUST CLOTHING THAT PEOPLE WANT TO DONATE. SUITS THINGS LIKE THAT?

>> IF NOT, THERE'S OPPORTUNITIES AT THE FARMER'S MARKET WHERE PEOPLE HAVE DROPPED OFF FOR THE HARVEST DRIVE. THEY CAN DROP OFF SUITS.

>> IS THERE ANY INCENTIVE TO PEOPLE DROPPING OFF.

I'M NOT A TAX ATTORNEY. DO PEOPLE GET TAX BREAKS FROM DONATING CERTAIN THINGS LIKE SUITS AND THINGS LIKE THAT? I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S A

POSSIBILITY? >> I KNOW THAT IN THE PAST I'VE GIVEN BREAST CANCER. AND THEY LEAVE A TAX LETTER.

HOWEVER MY HUSBAND AN ACCOUNTANT.

YOU KNOW, TO DO AN ITEMIZED THEY CHANGE THE TAX SO DO AN

ITEMIZED -- >> I JUST FIGURE WE HAVE A LOT OF BUSINESS PEOPLE HERE IN PARKLAND.

YOU GIVE A SUIT. YOU GET A TAX BREAK.

[INAUDIBLE] I DON'T WANT TO MAKE THIS DIFFICULT. WE JUST WANT THE PEOPLE OF PARKLAND TO GIVE UP THEIR SUITS.

OKAY. WE'RE MOVING FORWARD WITH THIS ITEM. WE WILL HAVE DISCUSSION AND WE'LL BRING THE INFORMATION BACK TO THE GROUP.

IF IT'S QUICK THEN I WILL DISCUSS TO SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO GET IT GOING. IF IT'S SOMETHING MORE COMPLICATED WE WILL COME BACK.

>> EVEN IF WE CAN START WITH THE BOOTH AT THE FARMER'S MARKET. AND HAVE PEOPLE COME AND

DROP OFF THEIR STUFF. >> AT LEAST GET THE WORD

OUT. >> SPEAKING OF THE HARVEST DRIVE, THEY HAVE REACHED OUT TO US FOR HELP THIS YEAR.

I WANT TO JUST SHARE SOME OF THE REALITIES OF HUNGER.

THEIR MAIN THING IS FEEDING SOUTH FLORIDA.

IN SOUTH FLORIDA ONE IN EIGHT PEOPLE ARE FOOD INSECURE AND ONE IN FIVE CHILDREN STRUGGLE WITH HUNGER IN SOUTH FLORIDA. 265,760 PEOPLE THAT'S 14.3% IN BROWARD COUNTY ARE FOOD INSECURE.

18.6% OF CHILDREN IN BROWARD COUNTY ARE FOOD INSECURE.

MEANING 74,630 CHILDREN GO TO BED HUNGRY EVERY NIGHT.

25% OF THESE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES DO NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY STATE OR FEDERAL FOOD BENEFITS.

MOST INDIVIDUALS WHO DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PURCHASE FOOD ALSO DON'T HAVE BASIC NECESSITIES SUCH AS TOOTHBRUSH, TOOTHPASTE, SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, FOOD STORAGE BAGS AND MULTISURFACE CLEANERS.

[01:35:02]

FOOD INSECURITY IS NOT THE SAME THING AS POFERTY.

FOOD INSECURITY CAN RESULT FROM UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS JOB LOSS, UNDER EMPLOYMENT.

PERSONAL ILLNESS, OR CARING FOR A SICK CHILD OR AGING RELATIVE. IT'S IMPORTANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT IN FLORIDA RIGHT HERE IN BROWARD COUNTY SALARY HAVE NOT KEPT UP WITH THE INCREASE OF THE COST OF LIVING. THAT'S A REAL IMMEDIATE NEED. THE HARVEST DRIVE WORKS WITH SOCIAL WORKERS, IN EVERY SINGLE YEAR TO IDENTIFY THOSE KID AND THOSE FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN IN NEED RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN BACKYARD. AND SO THEY HAVE A LIST FOR THE SPRING HARVEST DRIVE FOR 2022.

THEY WOULD LOW OUR ASSISTANCE IF WE COULD COLLECT CEREAL, POWDERED MILK.

MAC AND CHEESE. SOUP, PEANUT BUTTER.

CANNED VEGETABLES. BEANS, PASTA, RICE AND BOXED MASHED POTATOES. NO GLASS JARS.

THEY HAVE A WISH LIST. IRONICALLY ON THEIR WISH LIST ARE SOME OF THINGS WE SPOKE N ABOUT.

THEY NEED CHILDREN'S CLOTHE ALL SIZE FROM NEWBORN TO TEEN. THEY REALLY NEED CHILDREN'S SHOES. NEWLY OR VERY GENTLY WORN ALSO SIZES FROM INFANT TO TEEN.

I HAVE A QUICK STORY ABOUT THIS.

WHEN I WAS TEACHING AT EISENHOWER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, I PARTNERED WITH ANOTHER SCHOOL DAVEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DOWN THE STREET.

AND THEY ARE A TITLE NINE SCHOOL.

THERE WAS A STUDENT THERE WHO WAS IN TROUBLE.

BECAUSE SHE KEPT WEARING HER MOM'S HIGH HEALS TO SECOND GRADE CLASS. THE FAMILY COULDN'T AFFORD TO BUY HER ACTUAL SHOES. YOU KNOW SOMETIMES THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM ON THE SURFACE.

THEY ARE TRYING TO COLLECT CHILDREN'S SHOES FOR KIDS IN NEED. THERE'S A DESPERATE NEED FOR LINNONS; HOUSEHOLD ITEMS MENS AND WOMEN'S CLOTHING.

SIZES 2X, 3X, TOPS AND BOTTOMS MEN AND WOMEN ATHLETIC AND CASUAL SHOES. I HAVE THESE LISTS.

I'M GOING TO PASS THEM OVER IF YOU WANT THEM FOR THE RECORD. OKAY.

WE'RE GOOD. THOSE ARE THINGS DESPERATELY NEEDED NOW IN THIS MOMENT BY FAMILY WHO'S HAVE CHILDREN.

[INAUDIBLE] PARKLAND HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN THE PAST TWO YEARS.

THEY FED AND CLOTHED, I BELIEVE 210 FAMILIES LAST YEAR ALONE WHICH WOULD HAVE NOTHING IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE COMMUNITY. IT'S PRETTY AMAZING.

THEIR STORE IS OPEN ALL YEAR LONG.

THEY RAMP IT UP. IT'S A YEAR-ROUND EFFORT.

THESE ARE CRITICAL SHORTAGE AREAS IF YOU WANT TO CALL IT

THAT. >> LET ME JUST GET THIS CORRECT. WE DROP IT OFF AT THE

FARMER'S MARKET. >> WELL, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST YEAR OR TWO.

THEY HAD COLLECTIONS SITES AT SOME OF THE SCHOOLS AND FARMER'S MARKET. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PLAN

IS FOR MOVING FORWARD. >> RIGHT.

THIS IS DIFFERENT. WHAT THE SCHOOL DOES THEY HAVE THEIR OWN COLLECTION SITE FOR THE SCHOOL.

AND THEN THEY WOULD BE WHERE THEY WANT TO BE FOR COLLECTION. WE HELP WITH THAT PROCESS BY GIVING THEM TO THE FARMER MARKET ADD ON TO THEIR COLLECTION THEY TYPICALLY DO.

IF WE WILL TAKE THIS UNDERTAKING ON.

WE HAVE TO COME UP WITH A PLAN.

[01:40:15]

[INAUDIBLE] WHAT KIND OF WORK I'M

ASSUMING. >> I CAN HELP BUT I GUESS THE QUESTION DO WE WANT IT TO BE HARVEST DRIVE INITIATIVE OR A 501C3. WHAT DO YOU WANT IT TO LOOK LIKE IN OTHER WORDS? .

IT SOUNDS LIKE HARVEST DRIVE.

REALLY WHAT IT IS. >> THEY ARE OKAY WITH THAT.

WHEN THEY DID IT FIRST TIME IT'S A ONE-TIME EVENT.

NOW WE'RE CONTINUING SEE IF THEY CAN LEAD.

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS ONE TIME CHARITY.

>> I THINK IT'S UP TO THE BOARD.

DO YOU WANT IT TO BE PART OF THE CAB INFRASTRUCTURE WHERE WE BECOME THAT TYPE OF OUTREACH FOR THE COMMUNITY ONGOING OR JUST TO BE ONCE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR VISION WAS. MAYBE THAT'S SOMETHING ELSE.

I DON'T KNOW. >> I DON'T THINK IT WAS YEAR-LONG PROCESS. LIKE YOU SAID IT WAS --

>> WHAT HAPPENED, WE WERE -- [INAUDIBLE]

>> HARVEST DRIVE CAME AND WE DID SO WELL THAT THE COMMISSIONER SAW IT AND MAYBE THEY COME UP WITH A SERVICE PROJECT EVERY YEAR. NOW WE'RE STUCK IN THIS PLACE WHAT YOU WANT THE DO. WE COULDN'T ASSIST THE HARVEST DRIVE. WE HELP WITH THE PROMOTION

OF IT. >> CAN WE SOMEHOW INCORPORATE THE TWO INTO ONE.

>> THAT'S WHAT WE SHOULD DO. IF WE WILL HAVE -- YOU HAVE SUCH A GREAT SYSTEM IN PLACE.

INCORPRATE THE STUDENTS INTO THAT SYSTEM.

AND WE WILL CONTINUALLY DO THIS.

WE DON'T JUST HAVE TO DO IT IN SPRING SOMETIME.

THEY CAN BRING CHILDREN'S CLOTHING PART OF THAT NOW WE'LL ADD TO THE LIST. WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT; MAKING IT PART OF THE HARVEST DRIVE.

EVERYTHING THAT COMES IN GOES OR DO YOU WANT TO MAKE IT THE SEPARATE. [INAUDIBLE] A PART OF THE WISH LIST COULD BE THE RUPERT FACTOR.

WE HAVE THE CLOTHING BECAUSE IT SAYS WOMENS, MEN AND WOMENS ATHLETIC AND CASUAL SHOES.

MEN AND WOMEN'S CLOTHING. BUT INSTEAD OF BEING YOU CAN HAVE MEN AND WOMEN'S CLOTHING.

THE LAST THING COULD BE WORK ATTIRE.

I WILL GO TO PEOPLE THAT OBVIOUSLY NEED IT.

>> THE REALITY IT GOES TO PEOPLE THAT REALLY NEED THE

STUFF. >> THEY WORK -- ALL THE 501C3. THEY DO WORK TOGETHER.

IF SOMEONE HAS SURPLUS OF SOMETHING.

THEY SHARE. BETWEEN THEM.

THEY WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED. I COULD ASK RENEE.

LORI, IF SHE WORKS WITH THAT RENEE IS FOUNDER AND CEO OF THE HARVEST DRIVE. IF SHE WORKS WITH THAT ORGANIZATION. I KNOW THEY WORK WITH JACOB SHOES WHEN THEY NEED SHOES OR HAVE TOO MANY SHOES THEY GIVE THEM SHOES. THEY ALL KIND OF WORK

TOGETHER IN BROWARD. >> THERE'S ANOTHER ORGANIZATION BUT NOT MEN. WOMEN IN DISTRESS BROWARD COUNTY. THERE ARE ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO CERTAIN POPULATIONS.

WHERE PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO GO SOME PLACE TO GO IN AND

[01:45:01]

PICK OUT. WHATEVER WE DO.

WE DO SOMETHING. THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT

THING. >> PART OF THE WISH LIST WILL BE MEN AND WOMEN WORK AT TIRE.

WE SHOULD FIND OUT IF THEY WORK THOSE ORGANIZATIONS.

>> WHAT SHE WAS SAYING THEY PROBABLY DO.

>> SOMEHOW I NEVER MENTIONED JACOB --

>> JACOB'S SHOES. THAT'S A PRETTY BIG ONE.

>> ARE YOU FAMILIAR? >> OUR CHURCH DID A DRIVE WITH JACOB'S SHOES. THEY DONATE THE SHOES.

WE JUST DID THAT. AND I THINK CHURCHES ARE A REALLY GOOD WAY TO GO INTO THE CHURCHES AND SAY WE'RE DOING THIS. MOST OF THE TIME THEY WANT TO PARTICIPATE. THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT WANT TO DO THAT. [INAUDIBLE] YES. IN THE PAST, THE BOARD ACTUALLY HELPED AT DISTRIBUTION DAY.

BECAUSE IT'S A VERY SPECIAL THING WHEN YOU SEE THE FAMILIES COME AND YOU HAND THEM THEIR GROCERIES OR IF YOU WORK AT THEIR FOOD BANK OR IF YOU WORK AT THE BAKE STORE AND YOU HELP THEM FIND THE CLOTHES THAT FIT THEM.

IT ACTUALLY CAN BE A FUN EVENT FOR THE KIDS.

THEY DON'T REALIZE NECESSARILY WHAT'S GOING ON.

IN THE PART SOME OF THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS VOLUNTEERED TO DO THAT AT THE SCHOOL.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WAS MEANINGFUL.

I CAN GET MORE INFORMATION FROM RENEE.

MAYBE AT THE NEXT MEETING ADVISORY BOARD MEETING SHE CAN EVEN COMMENT AND WE CAN TALK WITH HER PERSONALLY.

>> YOU CAN ASK HER QUESTIONS ABOUT PARTNERSHIP AND STUFF LIKE THAT. LOGISTICS.

>> ONE THING I WANT TO PUT OUT THERE, THAT'S -- I'VE SAID THIS BEFORE. [INAUDIBLE] WE DON'T HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING IN ONE YEAR.

IF IT'S A SITUATION LIKE FOR INSTANCE YOU -- WE CAN WORK ON IT AS THE PLANNING EL. AND LET THE COMMISSIONER WE ARE READY TO GO NEXT WE'RE. EVERYTHING DOESN'T HAVE TO BE DONE. FEELS LIKE CRUNCHED INTO ONE. COME UP WITH THE BEST WAY AS

SOON AS POSSIBLE. >> I LIKE THE IDEA OF INCORPORATING THEM. [INAUDIBLE] THAT WAS THE CITY COLLABORATED WITH THE MIDDLE SCHOOL. ONCE WE FIGURE OUT WHAT WE AE DOING. THAT PART IS EASY.

THE CITY CAN SENT UP A TENT. ACTUALLY GAVE THE HARVEST DRIVE A TENT FOR NOT JUST FARMER'S MARKET.

THAT WORKED OUT GREAT FOR HER.

YOU COMBINED IT INTO ONE EVENT.

WHAT YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN.

THE HARVEST DRIVE, I SUSPECT THAT WILL CONTINUE AS WE KEEP GOING AND THEY WILL COME BACK AND SAY WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING AT THE SCHOOL.

CAN YOU HELP US GET THE WORD OUT.

THAT WILL CONTINUE. >> YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW MANY LOCAL BUSINESSES WE HAVE HERE THAT ARE WILLING TO HELP OUT WITH THAT. FOR INSTANCE WHEN WE HAD THE COLLECTION LAST YEAR, AND I WENT AND I ASKED WHAT IS IT THAT YOU'RE MISSING? K BOXES. I WENT OVER -- WON'T NAME THE STORE. I WENT TO LOCAL STORE.

GRABBED THE MANAGER. THIS IS WHAT I NEED.

I NEED THIS MANY BOXES OF THIS.

THIS MANY BOXES OF THAT. HELP ME OUT HERE.

I NEED THIS NOW. I NEED YOU TO HELP ME FILL UP THE CAR. AND GET MY ASSISTANCE.

NOT ONLY DID THEY GIVE ME A BREAK, IN THE PRICE WHICH WAS NICE. SALE PRICES AND THINGS LIKE THAT. BECAUSE HE KNEW IT WAS FOR THE SCHOOLS. WE KNEW FOR THE PEOPLE.

HE KNEW IT WAS FOR A VERY, VERY GOOD CAUSE.

REACHING OUT TO LOCAL BUSINESSES AND ASKING FOR HELP IT'S THERE. WE JUST GOT TO DO IT.

WE GOT TO GO THERE AND SAY LISTEN.

IF WE WANT TO DONATE 10 BOXES OF SEAR CEREAL, GO TO

[01:50:04]

STORE WHAT'S THE BEST YOU CAN DO FOR 20 BOXES.

CAN CAN YOU THINK OUR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CONNECTION WITH BRIDGE THE LINK.

[INAUDIBLE] THEY STEPPED UP AND HELPED OUT A LOT. I THINK WE HAVE A PLAN NOW.

WE'LL INCORPORATE THE TWO TOGETHER.

YOU CAN SIT DOWN WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE.

NEXT WE HAVE COMMENTS FROM THE STAFF.

>> WE HAVE SPOKEN ENOUGH. >> I THINK WE'RE DONE.

>> I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT.

AND DOING EVERYTHING YOU GUYS DO TO MAKE THIS A BEAUTIFUL CITY TO LIVE IN. NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MARCH 10TH, 2022. AT 6:00 P.M.

>> MAY 10TH. >> NOT MEETING IN TWO DAYS.

MAY 10TH, 2022 AT 6:00 P.M. WITH THAT BEING SAID CAN I

GET A MOTION TO ADJOURN. >> CAN I GET A SECOND.

>> I HAVE A MOTION AND IS SECOND.

ALL SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE.
