[5. Proclamations and Recognitions]

ANY OPPOSE? PLEASE SHOW IT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS.

LET'S GO DOWN TO THE WALL.

>> ALL RIGHT, GUYS, WE ARE GOING TO CALL UP THE MARJORY STONEMAN DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL JROTC. COME ON DOWN.

[APPLAUSE] AFTER COMPETING AT DISTRICT AND FINISHING SECOND, THE MSD JROTC EAGLES BATTALION RAIDERS ONE ON TO THE STATE JUMPING SHIP COMPETITION AT DISTRICTS THEY HAD TO RUN TWO AND A HALF MILES AND NAVIGATE A ROPE BRIDGE.

FLIPPED A HUGE TRACTOR TIRE 75 FEET, ONE ML ALTERNATING WITH AND WITHOUT A LITTER AND RUN TWO LAPS WITH WEIGHTS AND TWO WITH OUT THERE. THEN THEY HAVE TO RUN THE OBSTACLE COURSE AND THAT WAS JUST AT THE DISTRICTS.

PERFORMANCE EARNED THEM THE RIGHT TO COMPETE AT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. EVENTS AT STATES WERE SIMILARLY GRUELING, BUT THE EAGLES BATTALION RAIDERS STEPPED UP THEIR GAME AND FINISHED NUMBER ONE OUT OF THE SCHOOLS.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MSD HISTORY.

[APPLAUSE] ALL RIGHT.

WE ARE PROUD OF THIS GROUP AND WE RECOGNIZE NOT ONLY THE HIGH ACHIEVEMENT OF WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BUT ALSO THE INCREDIBLY HARD WORK AND EXTREME DEDICATION REQUIRED TO REACH THIS LEVEL. I AND RELATIONS ON MSD'S FIRST OUR JROTC -- CONGRATULATIONS ON MSD'S FIRST JROTC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. SENIOR ARMY INSTRUCTOR MARK ANDERS, DO YOU HAVE ANY GROUP BUT THESE WORDS?

>> NO, VERY PROUD. AWESOME TO SEE THE HARD WORK PAY OFF AND THE DEDICATION. THREE OF THESE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN UP HERE, STILL PRESSED ON.

THEY CONTINUED ON THAT IT MAKE SURE THAT WE CAME OUT ON TOP.

THE DEDICATION AND DECRYPT BY THIS GROUP HERE IS -- YOU SEE IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. SO THANK YOU.

[APPLAUSE] >> WHO IS YOUR COMMANDER HERE? HERE YOU GO, SIR. I'M GOING TO TAKE A PICTURE.

GREAT JOB, GUYS. CONGRATULATIONS.

[APPLAUSE]

>> DO YOU WANT ME TO TAKE -- HEY, COME ON. COME AROUND OVER HERE.

COME ON. SLIDE UP.

[LAUGHTER] >> GREAT JOB, GUYS.

[APPLAUSE] >> YEAH.

[00:05:01]

I DON'T KNOW IF I'M GOING TO DO JUST T A GOOD JOB.

THAT WAS VERY ENERGETIC. ANYWAY, I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT IN THE 2021 MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP IN OCALA ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST THE UNIVERSITY HAS SCHOOL OF ORLANDO TOOK SECOND PLACE IN CLASS FOUR A BECAUSE DISTILLATE -- STONEMAN DOUGLAS EAGLE REGIMENT WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

[APPLAUSE] THIS HONOR INCLUDED BEST MUSIC BEST COLOR GUARD, AND BEST GENERAL EFFECT.

PROUD TO THESE ACHIEVEMENTS, THE EAGLE REGIMENT HAD GRAND CHAMPION VICTORIES AT THAT FLENNIKEN COMPETITION, THE JOHN LEONARD COMPETITION, AND THE JUPITER COMPETITION.

ANYONE WITH KNOWLEDGE -- KNOWS THAT THIS IS NEITHER THE TOTALITY OF NORTH THE END OF THEIR ACCOLADES.

THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF SUCCESS AND A BRIGHT FUTURE IS ALWAYS.

THEY ALWAYS HAVE A CONGRATULATIONS FROM REPRESENTING THEIR SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY IN A MATTER THAT MAKES US EXTREME THE PROUD. A LOT OF WORK AND THIS BEEN GOES INTO ACHIEVEMENTS SUCH AS THESE AND BALANCING THE EXTRA WORK WITH ACADEMICS CAN BE CHALLENGING FOR.

PERHAPS UNFAIRLY, WE HAVE COME TO THE EXPECTED.

BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS WE ARE NO LESS PROUD OF THE EAGLE REGIMENT. CONGRATULATIONS ON ANOTHER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. [APPLAUSE] AND I DO WANT TO ADD TO THAT AS A FATHER WITH TWO DAUGHTERS ON THE COLORGUARD, YOU GUYS OR SO HARD.

YOU HAVE BAND CAMP. YOU PRACTICE EVERY SINGLE DAY.

SATURDAY, YOU GUYS WERE OUT THERE FOR SIX, EIGHT HOURS AT A TIME. IT IS AMAZING TO SEE HOW HARD YOU WORK AND AT HEART RICK HAS APTLY PAID OFF.

THANK YOU, COME ON DOWN. [APPLAUSE] EVERYBODY, COME DOWN. WE WILL TRY TO GET HERE FOR A PICTURE. DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SAY? DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SAY? I MEAN, I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN THE MICROPHONE THAT YOU DID NOT LIKE.

[LAUGHTER] YOU.

>> YOU ARE TOO KIND, MR. MAYOR. ON BEHALF OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO RECOGNIZED THEM AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS. I THINK SOME OF THE TIMES WE GET INVOLVED IN DIFFERENT THINGS AND THEN YOU KIND OF MISS THE BOAT ON WHERE IT ALL COMES FROM TO THE ROTC, VERY HAPPY TO BE IN YOUR COMPANY. BUT I EXPECT NOTHING LESS BECAUSE YOU HAVE GREAT LEADERSHIP.

SO, I MEAN, WITH GREAT LEADERSHIP, GRADE STUDENTS, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. I WANT TO SAY THANKS TO MY BOSQUE THE PRINCIPAL WHO IS ALWAYS AT OUR SIDE AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT MAKES WHAT WE DO A LOT EASIER, A FEW KNOW WHAT I MEAN. TO ALL OF THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN OUT HERE, YOU KNOW, BACKING US UP WITH EVERYTHING THAT WE DO WE CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH AND JUST REALLY HAPPY AND A QUICK LITTLE STORY SINCE I DO LOVE THE MICROPHONE.

THAT UNIVERSITY HIGH SCHOOL AND ALL THOSE OTHER SCHOOLS, IT WELL, THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM. THEY CAME AHEAD OF US ADD THE ORLANDO REGIONAL WHICH WAS ABOUT OCTOBER 15TH, 16TH.

THAT WAS A BIG WAKE-UP CALL TO EAGLE REGIMENT AND JUST BARELY MAKING FINALS, WHICH THEY DID, WHICH IS ALWAYS AN HONOR TO MAKE FINALS AT A BAND OF AMERICAN REGIONAL BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE WISH THAT THEY MADE FINALS.

BUT THEY WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE PLACED A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN THEY DID AND THAT REGIONAL. WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT NOTHING IS OVER UNTIL IT IS OVER. SO WE HAD TO PERFORM FIRST IN FINALS, EVEN THOUGH IN PRE-LIMBS, WE WERE TWO POINTS AHEAD OF ALL OF THOSE OTHER SCHOOLS THAT CAME AHEAD OF US.

BUT PERFORMING FIRST AT A BANJO IS REALLY TOUGH BECAUSE THEN YOU KIND OF SET A NUMBER THERE AND YOU'RE HOPING THAT THAT NUMBER IT WILL STICK AND IT WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR EVERYBODY ELSE THAT PERFORMS AFTER YOU. AND IT WAS BECAUSE UNIVERSITY WAS 92.1. STONEMAN DOUGLAS WAS 92.2.

EVERY SINGLE POINT. [APPLAUSE]

>> RICH WALKER: WHY DON'T YOU LET'S TRY TO GET A PICTURE.

I WOULD BE REMISS TO NOT MENTION.

UNDER THE PARENTS DON'T NEED THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT.

BUT THE PARENTS WORK JUST AS HARD AS THE KIDS.

AND YOU GUYS WHO DID THE PROPS THIS YEAR, KUDOS, BECAUSE THOSE PROPS, EVERY YEAR, THEY ARE AWESOME.

BUT THIS YEAR, THEY WENT UP AND ABOVE WHAT I NORMALLY SEE.

THOSE PROPS WERE ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

WELL DONE AND THANK YOU, GUYS. [APPLAUSE] ALL THE PARENTS. [APPLAUSE] SO COME ON UP HERE. LET'S TAKE A PICTURE.

OH YEAH.

[00:10:05]

>> EVERYBODY. >> GOOD LUCK.

>> EVERYBODY HERE FOR A MINUTE. AS POSSIBLE.

>> THE CAMERA. I CAN'T SEE.

[APPLAUSE]

>> THE FUN IS OVER.

>> RICH WALKER: OKAY. NOW WE ARE BACK TO A REGULAR SCHEDULED MEETING. AND EVERYONE IS GONE.

[6. Comments from the Public on Non-Agenda Items]

SO IT IS BACK TO JUST US. SO WE ARE GOING TO GO TO THE COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON% NON-AGENDA ITEMS. SO IF THERE'S ANYONE FROM THE PUBLIC WHO WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON NON-AGENDA ITEM, COME ON UP. GREAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN.

>> GREAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN. I CAN BARELY MAKE IT TO THE DOOR TODAY. GOOD EVENING, AMERICA VICE MAYOR -- MAYOR, VICE MAYOR, MY NAME IS RAJ AND I'M AN INTERNET WITH THE STATE REPRESENTATIVE CHRISTINE'S OFFICE.

I'M PLEASED TO BE HERE ON BEHALF OF THE REPRESENTATIVE WHO IS CURRENTLY IN TALLAHASSEE FOR THE FINAL COMMITTEE WEEK BEFORE THAT LEGISLATIVE SESSION STARTS IN JANUARY.

REPRESENTATIVE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU AND THE RESIDENCE TO OUR HOLIDAY OVER -- OPEN HOUSE ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11TH FROM 11:00 A.M. AT 1:00 O'CLOCK P.M.

AS ALWAYS GET REPRESENTATIVE AND HER TEAM ARE AVAILABLE TO HELP AND CAN BE REACHED AT (954)956-5600 OR BY E-MAIL AT HD IST 096. I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOU FOR

[00:15:04]

ALLOWING ME TO BE HERE DOESN'T SPEAK.

>> RICH WALKER: GREAT. THANK YOU BRING MUCH.

IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON A NON-AGENDA ITEM? OH, YEAH, COME ON UP.

NAME AND ADDRESS FOR THAT RECORD?

>> PETER 6195 NORTHWEST 53RD WAY, PARKLAND, FLORIDA.

>> RICH WALKER: YEAH. THANK YOU.

>> MY QUESTION IS, MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BE ANSWERED.

BUT YOU ANSWER QUESTIONS? [LAUGHTER]

>> RICH WALKER: SO THESE COMMENTS ARE SPECIFICALLY FOR COMMENTS. THESE ARE NOT FOR A BACK-AND-FORTH CONVERSATION. SO IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION, YOU ARE FREE TO ASK IT. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IS DEPENDING ON WHAT THE QUESTION IS, MAYBE WE WILL POINT IN THE DIRECTION OF NANCY ORTMAN OF US WHO CAN REACH OUT TO YOU AFTER THE MEETING, BUT THIS IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR BACK AND FORTH BECAUSE IF WE HAD THAT, WITH EVERYONE WHO CAME IN AND WANTED TO HAVE A CONVERSATION, WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET A LOT OF WORK DONE.

>> I'M NOT REALLY LOOKING FOR A CONVERSATION.

I'M LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER. I'M JUST, BASED ON WHAT IT SAYS IN HERE, THAT YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS, WHICH, TO ME, IMPLIES

THERE SHOULD BE AN ANSWER. >> RICH WALKER: YOU WILL GET AN ANSWER. YOU MAY NOT GET AN ANSWER RIGHT

NOW, BUT YOU WILL GET AN ANSWER. >> AND HOW DOES THAT WORK.

I KNOW THAT IS ANOTHER QUESTION. BUT --

>> SO IF YOU ASK -- >> DO YOU ASSIGNED IT TO NANCY

-- >> RICH WALKER: IT DEPENDS WITH THE QUESTION IS. CORRECT.

NO, THAT IS CORRECT. DEPENDING ON WHAT THE QUESTION IS, IT WOULD GET THEM ASSIGNED TO WHETHER IT IS THE CITY MANAGER, IF IT IS SOMETHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH ENGINEERING, MAYBE WE WOULD HAVE SO MONDAY -- SO DEPENDING ON THE QUESTION, YES, IT WOULD DEPEND ON, YOU WOULD GET A RESPONSE FROM.

>> I HATE TO DO THIS AGAIN BUT I'M GOING TO ASK ANOTHER QUESTION. IS IT A SIGN WHILE I'M STANDING

HERE SO I KNOW WHO TO CALL? >> RICH WALKER: THAT IS CORRECT.

>> WHEN WILL I GET MY REPLY? I GAVE YOU MY ADDRESS OR IS IT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO THE CALL THEM OR WHAT?

>> RICH WALKER: DEPENDING ON YOUR QUESTION, WE MAY HAVE SOMEONE COME UP TO YOU RIGHT BUT YOU ARE FINISHED.

AND POTENTIALLY ANSWER THE QUESTION OR TAKE YOUR INFORMATION, PHONE NUMBER, AND WHAT HAVE YOU TO GET BACK TO YOU ONCE WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GATHER THE INFORMATION YOU'RE

LOOKING FOR. >> EXCELLENT.

THANK YOU. OKAY.

>> RICH WALKER: WAIT A SECOND. YOU DON'T HAVE A QUESTION? YOU TRICKED ME. OKAY.

[CHUCKLES] OKAY, ANYONE ELSE FROM THE PUBLIC WHO WISHES TO SPEAK ON A NON-AGENDA ITEM? SEEING AS THERE'S NO ONE, WE WILL GO TO THE COMMISSION.

I'M GOING TO START FIRST-PITCH. I JUST WANT TO OBVIOUSLY I WANT TO SEND OBVIOUSLY, I'M SURE WE ALL DO THE SAME WEIGHTS GET SENT OUR CONDOLENCES TO OXFORD WITH THERE.

I SAW SOME THINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHERE -- WHEN THE TRAGEDY HAPPENED HERE, TO PUT LACROSSE TEAM PUT STONEMAN DOUGLAS STICKERS ON THEIR HELMETS TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR US AND OUR COMMUNITY. AND THAT TOUCHED ME BECAUSE IT TELLS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN TRAGEDY CAN STRIKE.

WHETHER IT IS A MASS TRAGEDY, WHETHER IT IS A SMALL TRAGEDY, IT IS THOSE LITTLE THINGS THAT TO ME, YOU KNOW, MAKE ME APPRECIATE PEOPLE WHO REALLY DO CARE ABOUT OTHERS.

AND I THINK THAT IS IMPORTANT, ESPECIALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR.

YOU KNOW, I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO BRING THAT UP REPURPOSE THEY N -- AND THEY ARE BEASLEY DID NOT.

>> WHAT HAPPENED IMPORTANT TO HAPPEN.

THEY SHOWED THEIR SUPPORT BECAUSE THAT IS THE TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT THEY ARE. AND AND FOR ME TO SEE THAT CONSIDERING WHAT HAPPENED, YOU KNOW, WAS VERY TOUCHING.

AND IT IS OBVIOUSLY OUR CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO THEM AND WISH THEM A SPEEDY, YOU KNOW, RECOVERY MENTALLY AS WE KNOW FROM THE TRAGEDY THAT HIT US HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN, YOU KNOW, WE ARE STILL GOING THROUGH THAT. IT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN GET

[00:20:04]

OVER QUICKLY. BUT KNOWING PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE CARRYING AND WANT TO TRY TO HELP I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT.

SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WE POINT THAT OUT.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE, I DO WANT TO TALK ABOUT SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY. SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY HAS BECOME FOR ME A LOT OF FUN. BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, BEING A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER AND THE TYPE OF BUSINESS THAT I AM IN, I MAKE SIGNS. SO WE WHERE A LOT OF SMALL BUSINESSES. WE HELP THEM BUILD THEIR BRAND AND THINGS LIKE THAT AND WE SEE THE STRUGGLE THAT THEY GO THROUGH AND HOW CONSCIOUS THEY ARE ON COST, YOU KNOW? AND ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF THINGS.

AND, YOU KNOW, TO BE ABLE TO GO OUT AND SUPPORT A SMALL BUSINESS EVERY DAY, OF RISLEY, PUT ON SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY, IT IS LITTLE BIT MORE FUN FOR ME, ANYWAY.

I TRY TO GO OUT AND TRY TO HIT AS MANY PLACES AS YOU CAN AND TRY TO PROMOTE THEM AS BEST I CAN.

BUT IT IS GREAT TO JUST, YOU KNOW, IT IS GREAT TO SEE THE FEEDBACK THAT THEY GIVE YOU, HOW EXCITED PEOPLE ARE, YOU KNOW, TO SEE YOU THERE INTO SEE YOU SUPPORTING THEM AND I KNOW WE ALL SUPPORT ALL OF OUR SMALL BUSINESSES ALL THE TIME.

THAT IS WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR COMMISSION. YOU GO BACK TO WHAT I WAS JUST TALKED ABOUT EARLIER. YOU KNOW, WE CARE.

WE CARE AND PEOPLE KNOW IT. AND I THINK THAT IS IMPORTANT.

YOU KNOW? SO I THINK SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY WAS GREAT. WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE WE ARE OUT THERE CONTINUING TO HELP OUR SMALL BUSINESSES.

IT HAS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT THESE PAST COUPLE YEARS.

AND IT IS STILL DIFFICULT, COVID IS "UNDER CONTROL" BUT THERE'S STILL OTHER RAMIFICATIONS FROM THAT WITH THE SUPPLY CHAIN AND DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE THAT. SO IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE CONTINUE SUPPORT -- TO SUPPORT OUR SMALL BUSINESSES.

BECAUSE THE BIG BUSINESSES, THEY DON'T NEED AS MUCH HELP AS A SMALL BUSINESS. JUST GETTING.

EVERYBODY NEEDS HELP. BECAUSE BIG BUSINESSES, HIRE LOTS OF PEOPLE. THAT LIVE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO HELP YOUR COMMUNITY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

AND OBVIOUSLY, I WANT TO SAY HAPPY HANUKKAH TO EVERYBODY.% THE HOT BOD, THEY HAVE BEEN -- THE CONTENT THEY HAVE BEEN GOING OUT AND THEY GOT FOOD AND DONUTS AND THEY PLAY MUSIC AND FIREWORKS AND, I MEAN, IT IS A BIG PRODUCTION. IT IS AMAZING THAT THEY DO THIS IN ALL THE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES AND HOW MUCH PEOPLE EMBRACE IT, WHETHER YOU ARE JEWISH OR NOT. IT IS FUN.

AND I THINK THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE MISSED IS, IN A, HAVING THAT FUN AND CERTAINLY THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF, TWO YEARS HAS BEEN DIFFICULT BUT NOW THIS YEAR, AGAIN, WITH THINGS GETTING BACK TO NORMAL BUT SEEING ALL OF THAT STUFF GOING ON IS JUST A LOT OF FUN. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF GOING TO THE WATERCRESS. I GOT TO LIGHT ONE OF THE CANDLES. YOU KNOW, WAS A LOT OF FUN.

THEY ARE EXTREMELY WELCOMING. IT IS A FANTASTIC COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION. AND KUDOS TO THEM FOR BEING AS INCLUSIVE AS THEY ARE AND TRYING TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER.

SO THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN. AND I DO WANT TO TAKE EVERYTHING. I KNOW THERE'S SOME OTHER THINGS. I WOULD LET EVERYBODY ELSE BECAUSE I DID THIS LAST TIME I SPOKE FIRST AND USUALLY I SPEAK LESS. SO IT IS NICE TO ACTUALLY HAVE SOME THINGS TO SAY THAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS NOT ALREADY SAID.

SO WE WILL GO TO COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN.

WE WILL START WITH YOU SINCE USUALLY YOU GO SECOND TO LAST.

[CHUCKLES] >> BOB MAYERSOHN: THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, MAYOR. I WANT TO ECHO THE SAME SENTIMENTS OUT TO OXFORD AND THEIR COMMUNITY.

WE KNOW, YOU KNOW, GOING THROUGH MASS SHOOTING, HAS A CHILLING EFFECT. I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE SEEN IS THE TRAGEDY STRIPS AWAY A SENSE OF SAFETY FOR MOST PEOPLE. AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE RECOGNIZED AND I WOULD LIKE US AND SUGGEST AND I KNOW THAT WHEN THAT MAYOR IT WAS HERE, SHE REACHED OUT TO THE COMMITTEE.

SO IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY JUST, ON BEHALF OF US, JUST REACH OUT TO THEM AND NO THE LET THEM KNOW THAT WE ARE HERE TO SUPPORT THE FACTORED -- FACULTY. WE WENT OUT TO THE PLAYGROUND,

[00:25:04]

THE UNDERFOOT -- UNOFFICIAL OPENING OF THE PLAY GROUND.

THERE WAS A RESIDENT WHO LEFT FOUR YEARS AGO, I THINK PRIOR TO THE TRAGEDY AND ASK AT WHAT WE WERE DOING AND HOW WE WERE HOPING FORWARD. AS THE TYPE OF D I SAID, WE HAVE BEEN THAT SOUNDING BOARD FOR OTHER COMMITTEES THAT HAVE GONE THROUGH THE ISSUES. YOU KNOW? WE DON'T WANT EVERYBODY TO BE PART OF THE SAME -- THAT WE ARE.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THESE THINGS HAPPEN AND WE CONTINUE TO A POINT WHERE THERE WILL BE NO MORE MASS SHOOTINGS OR AT LEAST SCHOOL SHOOTINGS. SO OF THAT WAS THE ONE THING.

A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT I DO WANT TO MENTION.

OF COURSE, JUST GOING TO THE PLAYGROUND, THE PLAYGROUND IS OPEN. IT IS -- IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN OUT THERE, I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU GO.

IT IS UNBELIEVABLE. THE SURFACE LIKE THIS RUBBERY SURFACE, THE BOUNCING SURFACE, IT IS FANTASTIC.

THE KIDS ARE OUT THERE ENJOYING THEMSELVES.

THERE WERE A COUPLE THINGS THAT I MENTIONED TO NANCY ABOUT THE BIKE RACK AND SOME OTHER THINGS. I WANT TO CONGRATULATE RYAN BECAUSE THE -- I DO THE ENTRANCEWAY HAS BEEN PAVED, REPAVED. THE -- SO IT IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND I THINK WE ARE DOING A GREAT JOB THERE.

THE ONE THING THAT I DID WANT TO BRING UP IS THROUGH THE, I GUESS, MY INVOLVEMENT WITH THE WASTE AND RECYCLING WORKGROUP, THERE IS A AGENDA ITEM ON THE COUNTY COMMISSION ON TUESDAY.

WHICH, AT WHAT IT IS IS WASTE MANAGEMENT IS SEEKING TO CHANGE OF FUTURE LAND USE DESIGNATION WITH THAT PROPERTY THAT THEY OWN FROM ELECTRIC GENERATION FACILITY TO INDUSTRIAL.

WHAT THIS DOES IS THAT THERE'S BEEN DISCUSSION AS FAR AS IT USED TO BE A WASTE OR AN ELECTRICAL WASTE GENERATION FACILITY AND THEY DISMANTLED IT. SO THERE'S STILL QUESTIONS AS -- IS THAT IN THE COUNTY'S LAND USE PLAN? CAN WE CONTINUE THAT? I KNOW, COCONUT CREEK LEVEL -- WRITTEN A LETTER IN OPPOSITION. KNOW DEERFIELD BEACH HAS WRITTEN

-- >> THAT IS CORRECT, COMMISSIONER

BURKE. >> BOB MAYERSOHN: HAS WRITTEN A LEVEL IN OPPOSITION. I THINK IT IS INCUMBENT UPON US AND WE COULD DIRECT NANCY TO WRITE A LETTER OF OPPOSITION.

SHE HAS GOTTEN THE LETTER BOTH FROM THE COCONUT CREEK ONE, I THINK THAT THEIR FEET -- DEAL -- DEERFIELD BEACH ONE IS ON THE WEBSITE AS WELL. IN OPPOSITION TO THE COUNTY AT THIS POINT BACK MAKING A DECISION.

ONLY BECAUSE IF THEY ELIMINATE THE ELECTRICAL RECYCLING PART OF IT AND MAKE IT INTO INDUSTRIAL, THAT LIMITS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR WHETHER IT IS THROUGH WASTE MANAGEMENT OR SOME OTHER ENTITY TO UTILIZE THAT AS WASTE ENERGY. SO I DON'T KNOW HOW ANYBODY ELSE

GOES ON THAT. >> RICH WALKER: YEAH, I WOULD AGREE. CERTAINLY SOMETHING FOR THEM -- YOU ARE SUGGESTING TO JUST KIND OF TABLE IT UNTIL THEY FIGURE

OUT -- >> BOB MAYERSOHN: RIGHT.

EITHER TABLE IT AT THIS POINT OR WRITE A LETTER.

>> RICH WALKER: WE WOULD BE OPPOSING.

>> BOB MAYERSOHN: RIGHT. >> RICH WALKER: , HOWEVER THE

COUNTY WANTS TO HANDLED THAT. >> BOB MAYERSOHN: RIGHT.

>> RICH WALKER: I WOULD BE IN FAVOR OF THAT.

>> BOB MAYERSOHN: SO YOU HAVE DIRECTION?

>> YEAH, WE DISCUSSED IT EARLIER.

I HAVE THE LETTERS AND WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO DRAFT ONE

IN OPPOSITION OF THAT. >> BOB MAYERSOHN: ALL RIGHT.

MOVING ON TO A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS.

AGAIN, JUST UPDATE YOU. ON SOME LEGISLATIVE, THE SENATE, WHEN I SAY FEDERAL, PASSED A BILL THAT ALLOWS KIND OF GIVES MORE FLEXIBILITY TO SPENDING OF THE ARK FUNDS.

IT ALLOWS MORE FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND OTHER ISSUES THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT, FLEXIBILITY TO MUNICIPALITIES.

THERE IS A SENATE BILL THAT IS STILL WAITING TO HOPEFULLY PASS.

BUT IT WILL DEFINITELY GIVE US MORE DISABILITY.

SO I JUST WANTED TO -- THAT FEDERAL ISSUE.

THERE ARE SOME ISSUES THAT ARE PERCOLATING IN THE STATE.

TWO OF THEM JUST CAME FORWARD IN OBVIOUSLY COMMITTEES.

ONE WAS SB 280 AND THE OTHER ONE WAS HB 569.

THEY ARE BOTH DIFFERENT BILLS, BUT WHAT THEY DO IS THEY COULD OF LIMITED ABILITY FOR US AS A LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO CONTROL ISSUES. THE HB 69 IS THE BILL THAT REQUIRES MUNICIPALITIES TO CREATE A BUSINESS IMPACT.

THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES IS WORKING ON GETTING CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS FROM THAT AND THEY ARE WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE SPONSOR. FOR EXAMPLE, YOU KNOW, WE DID A -- WE DO AN ORDINANCE ON A BUDGET.

[00:30:01]

WE WOULD HAVE TO DO A BUSINESS. AND THAT WOULD COST US HOWEVER IT MUCH MONEY IT WOULD BE. IT IS ANOTHER ADDITIONAL CHARGE THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO ADD INTO THE BUDGET TALKING ABOUT DOING A BUDGET, WHICH REALLY DOESN'T HAVE AN IMPACT.

THERE MAY BE OTHER ORDINANCES THAT WE CREATE THAT WOULD REQUIRE US TO DO AN BUSINESS IMPACT.

THEY ARE IRRELEVANT TO THE BUSINESSES.

THE SB 280, AGAIN, GETS BACK INTO ALLOWING A BUSINES, AGAIN, IF THEY ARE IMPACTED BY AN ORDINANCE THAT THEY CAN GO FILE A LAWSUIT, WHICH, AGAIN, GOES BACK TO THE ISSUE OF I THINK IT IS GOING TO IMPACT ME. I FILE A LAWSUIT AND THEN AS TH- INVOKES TO SHOW YOU THAT, WHAT MY BUSINESS IS IMPACTED AND WITH SUCH THRESHOLD IS. I THINK IT WAS 15% OF YOUR BUSINESS LOSS. IT THAT IS SOMETHING, AGAIN, NO I WANT TO THANK THE SENATOR. SHE WAS ON THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE AND SHE DEFINITELY DRILLED IN.

IT IS MOVING ON. THEY ARE STILL 20 TO WHERE A SPONSOR TO KIND OF HELP AND I KNOW THE -- IS DOING THAT TO NARROW DOWN THE SCOPE OF WHERE IT SHOULD BE, AT THAT, AGAIN, NOT THAT IT IS THE BEST THING, BUT TRIED TO MAKE -- SO THOSE ARE TWO THINGS THAT I WANT TO BRING UP ON THAT.

AGAIN, JUST TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THE SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING WORKGROUP, WE HAD A MEETING TODAY, MOST OF THE MEETING WAS DISCUSSING THE BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS OF ADOPTING EITHER AN ECONOMIC CONTROL WHERE BY THERE'S AN ASSESSMENT ON USERS TO THE REDUCED TIPPING FEES INCENTIVIZING THE -- TO A LOCATION.

OR A REVELATORY CONTROL RECORD BY THIS, CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS TO DELIVER THAT WASTE THE SPECIFIC LOCATIONS.

SO IT IS FOR -- TO DO THAT. BUT THE WASTE AND RECYCLING WORKGROUP IS DEALING WITH THE LOCATION OF THE FACILITIES THAT ARE ABSORBING THE WASTE. ON THE ONE THING THAT I WANTED TO BRING UP REGARDING OUR DESIRE TO CREATE AN AUTISM FRIENDLY CITY. I KNOW THAT WE ARE WORKING HARD TO GET SOME BUSINESSES STILL TRAINED.

AT'S ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I WANTED TO BRING FORWARD WHEN WE DISCUSSED THE STRATEGIC PLANNING IS THAT IN CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS A COMPONENT THAT WEEK MANDATE.

[LAUGHTER] SO THAT WE ARE NOT ASKING PEOPLE, I MEAN, I'M HOPING THAT THEY SHOULD WANT TO BE TRAINED.

IT IS ONLY A -- AND THERE'S PROBABLY OTHER WAYS THAT THEY CAN USE THAT WITH A CERTIFICATION OR JUST GO ONLINE WITH A TUTORIAL TYPE OF THING. BUT REQUIRING THAT COMPONENT.

WE REQUIRE TRAINING. YOU TELL THEM HOW THEY WANT TO DO IT. BUT IT IS STILL A REQUIREMENT.

'S WERE A VETERAN CZECH REPUBLIC MAYBE THAT IS SOMETHING WE PUT IN OUR CONTRACT. WITH VENDORS MOVING FORWARD.

THEY WOULD REQUIRE THEM TO GO THROUGH TRAINING.

BUT SO AGAIN, WHETHER WE DISCUSSED IT IN STRATEGIC PLANNING OR CREATED AN ORDINANCE THAT -- OR THROUGH STRATEGIC

PLANNING WORKSHOPS -- >> WE COULD DO EITHER WORKSHOP ARE STRATEGIC PLANNING BECAUSE STRATEGIC PLANNING IS IN APRIL.

I BELIEVE THE CONTRACTS WILL BE RENEWED THIS JANUARY.

SO WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE IT BY THE NEXT COMING YEAR.

>> BOB MAYERSOHN: THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A WAY TO LOOK AT IT, REQUIRING THAT. WHAT ELSE? I THINK THAT'S BASICALLY IT. HAPPY HANUKKAH THAT EVERYBODY.

>> THANK YOU. COMMISSIONER BRIER?

>> SIMEON BRIER: THANK YOU, MAYOR.

ECHOING THE COMMENTS FROM THAT MAYOR AND COMMISSIONER MAYE MAYERSOHN, OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL FAMILIES TO COMMUNITY. WE HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR THOSE THAT ARE STILL IN THE HOSPITAL TO CRITICALLY INJURED THAT DAY AMERICA'S LEE ARE RECOVERED. AND SOME OF THE COMMENTS THAT WERE SAID BY SOME OF THE PARENTS THERE WERE SOME OF THE SAME COMMENTS THAT STRUCK A CHORD BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN SEEING THEM WHICH IS, WE NEVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN SEEING THEIR SCHOOL'S NAME ON THE NATIONAL NEWS WAS A SURREAL.

THE SAME THING WE WENT THROUGH FOUR YEARS AGO.

SO OUR HEARTS DIFFICULT UP TO THE DEAF COMMUNITY AND ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO REACH OUT TO THEM. WE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH UNFORTUNATE. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT SEEM TO

[00:35:01]

END. WE HAVE TO GET AT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THAT. ON A LETTER NOTE, I WANT TO WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY HANUKKAH. CHABAD IS COMING ON SUNDAY.

WE WILL TRY TO CHECK THAT OUT. WE HAVE LIGHT UP THE NIGHT EVENT TOMORROW NIGHT. IT IS A GREAT COMMUNITY EVENT.

WE HAVE OUR LIGHT UP THE PARK EVENT COMING UP AS WELL AS OUR FARMERS MARKET THIS WEEKEND. WE GOT SOME GREAT COMMUTE EVENTS TO BRING EVERYONE TOGETHER. IT IS NOT ONLY GOING OUT AS SUPPORTING THESE BUSINESSES THAT ARE RELYING ON THE RESIDENTS OF PARKLAND FOR THEIR ASSESSMENTS BUT IT IS ALSO, IT PROVIDES A SENSE OF COMMUNITY, WHICH IS WHERE YOU SEE OTHER PEOPLE FROM YOUR DEVELOPMENTS IN OTHER PEOPLE FROM PARKLAND AND IT IS DEFINITELY A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND SEEING THOSE BUSINESSES GET SUPPORTED BY US, THRIVE, EVEN DESPITE ALL OF THE CHALLENGES OF COVID. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE DEFINITELY GOT TO WORK TOWARDS INTO IT EVERY DAY.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS IT, SO THANK YOU FOR THAT, MAYOR. THAT IS ALIKE ARE.

>> RICH WALKER: THANK YOU. COMMISSIONER ISROW.

>> JORDAN ISROW: THANK YOU GOT MAYOR.

I WON'T BELABOR TOO MUCH. I SENT MY CONDOLENCES TO OXFORD COMMUNITY. I THINK WHAT IT SHOWS IS THAT DESPITE HOW MUCH WORK HAS BEEN DONE AND HOW MUCH PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE, THERE'S STILL WORK THAT REMAINS TO BE DONE.

OF ALL OF THE ORGANIZATION THAT REQUITED AFTER THE TRAGEDY IN 2018, I THINK THERE'S A LOT OF OPPORTUNITY FOR PEOPLE STILTED TO GET INVOLVED, NOT JUST LOCALLY BUT NATIONALLY.

SO I RECOMMEND THAT PEOPLE START DOING SOME RESEARCH IF THEY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I'M SURE THEY CAN REACH OUT TO ANYONE OF US IN THE COMMISSION. IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN OVERNIGHT BUT I THINK WE SEE THAT IT IS BRICK BY BRICK AND UNFORTUNATELY IT IS A MULTIFACETED ISSUE THAT WILL BE ADDRESSED BY THE COMMITTEE AT LARGE.

THAT IS NOT JUST OUR COMMUNITY, BUT EVERY COMMUNITY IN THIS COUNTRY WHO HAS KIDS GOING TO SCHOOL AND THAT IS THE REALITY.

SO OUR HEARTS AND THOUGHTS ARE GOING TO THE COMMUNITY AND HOPEFULLY THEY RECOVER FROM THAT THE SAME WAY WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO. HAPPY HANUKKAH TO EVERYONE.

I AGREE, THE CHABAD EVENT WAS PARTISPECTACULAR.

IT BRINGS EVERYONE TOGETHER. IT IS MARK JERRY.

BUT THAT SAID, I TAKE A POINT OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE OF COMMUTING COMING TOGETHER AND SUPPORTING CAUSES.

UNFORTUNATELY OR FORTUNATELY, UP UNTIL RECENTLY, I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM OF BEING PERSONALLY I WOULD SAY AFFECTED BY RATHER UNDO DISEASE OR ILLNESS AND A FAMILY MEMBER OF MINE HAS CONTRACTED CANCER. AND, YOU KNOW, WHAT IT HAS SHOWN ME IS THAT IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE INDIVIDUAL.

BUT IT AFFECTS THE FAMILY. IT AFFECTS ALL OF THEIR FRIENDS AND IT RALLIES PEOPLE. IT RALLIES YOU TO DON'T WANT TO CONTRBUTE TO THE SUPPORT AND DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO HELP THAT PERSON OVERCOME THAT BATTLE. WITH THAT SAID, MY WIFE, JESSICA, HAS TAKEN IT UPON HERSELF TO CREATE AN EVENT THAT WILL BE TAKEN PLACE AT PINE TRAILS PARK JANUARY 22ND.

IT IS CALLED BATTLE AGAINST PANCREATIC CANCER.

THERE'S A FACEBOOK PAGE. 100% OF THE PROCEEDS GO TO THE ORGANIZATION. IT WILL BE IN TANDEM WITH CROSSFIT HARD-CORE PARKLAND CROSSFIT OUTFIT.

THEY WILL DOING A GROUP EXERCISE.

IT IS GOING TO BE A LIVE DJ WITH MUSIC AND A LOT OF VENDORS AND FOOD? , ET CETERA.

THE MAIN GOAL IS JUST GENERATING KNOWLEDGE AND SUPPORT FOR THE CAUSE AND TRYING TO RAISE MONEY TO THE HOPEFULLY RESEARCH AND FIND A CURE BECAUSE THAT IS THE GOAL.

I HATE TO HAVE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO DO THIS BUT IT IS SOMETHING THAT MEANS A LOT TO ME AND I WOULD ASK THAT EVERYONE AT LEAST CONSIDER SUPPORTING THE CAUSE.

THAT IS ALIKE ARE. THANK YOU.

>> RICH WALKER: THANK YOU. COMMISSIONER ISROW?

VICE MAYOR CUTLER BUTS. >> KEN CUTLER: I MIKE SYMPATHY TO THE VICTIMS IN THE OXFORD TOWNSHIP.

FOUR STUDENTS WERE KILLED AND SEVEN OTHERS WERE INJURED IN A SHOOTING ON TUESDAY. THE OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL.

SOPHOMORE STUDENT THAT WAS ACCUSED OF OPENING FIRE DURING SCHOOL HOURS USED A 9 MILLIMETERS HANDGUN THAT WAS INITIALLY PURCHASED BY HIS FATHER.

ONCE AGAIN, UNDER THE COMMUTE IS SHATTERED BY A SENSELESS GUN VIOLENCE. THE OAKLAND COUNTY PROSECUTOR AT TODAY'S PRESS CONFERENCE SAID THAT WE AS A NATION ARE BECOMING

[00:40:01]

DESENSITIZED TO SCHOOL GUN VIOLENCE.

AND I SINCERELY HOPE THAT THAT IS NOT TRUE.

I KNOW THE MANY OF THE STUDENTS AND VICTIMS, FAMILY MEMBER'S IN OUR COMMUNITY AND MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE KNOWN FIRSTHAND THE TRAGEDY OF THIS VIOLENCE ARE CERTAINLY NOT DESENSITIZED, EVEN THIS FRIDAY, HOLDING A FUNDRAISER AT THE PARK.

OTHER GROUPS LIKE STAND WITH PARKLAND ALSO ARE RAISING FUNDS.

PARENTS, IF YOU ARE ADVOCATES FOR THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE AND LOCK YOUR GUNS UP.

THE AMMO IN A SEPARATE LOCKED PLACE.

ISN'T IT ENOUGH PEOPLE? DO WE HAVE TO DO CONTINUE TO SINCE THE SLEEP WE LIVE OVER AND OVER THESE KINDS OF TRAGEDIES? I SUGGEST THE ANSWER IS NOW. LEGISLATORS AND OUR STATES CONTINUE TO ERODE THE ABILITY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO EFFECTUATE CHANGE. COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN HAS POINTED OUT TWO SUCH BILLS THAT ARE COMING OUT IN OUR CURRENT LEGISLATION. WE HAVE TO MAKE THAT CHANGE OURSELVES AND WE HAVE TO PUSH AND LEGISLATORS THAT ARE CHANGE AT BOTH THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS IF WE WANT TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. WE CAN'T JUST SIT BY.

MAKE A CHANGE, PEOPLE. LET'S GET THIS RIGHT FOR THE SAY OF OUR COUNTRY AND OUR CHILDREN. WE DO NOT HAVE TO DO CONTINUE TO RELIVE THIS STUFF. IT IS NOT, OH, WELL.

THAT IS ALL I'M GOING TO SAY ON THAT.

I HAVE MYSELF SENT AN E-MAIL TO EACH OF THE TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES IN OXFORD EXPRESSING MY CONDOLENCES TO THEM INTO THEIR COMMUNITY.

I HAVE TOLD THEM THAT AS A COMMISSION, WE ARE AVAILABLE TO THEM. THAT WE HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE AND THAT WE HAVE HAD UNFORTUNATELY HAD TO GO OUT AND HELP OTHER COMMUNITIES, PITTSBURGH AND SEVERAL OTHER COMMUNITIES, BOTH AS A CITY AND AS A COMMUNITY, PEOPLE IN OUR COMMITTEE HAVE REACHED OUT AND DONE THESE THINGS.

SO I HAVE ASKED THEM IF THEY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED ANY ASSISTANCE, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US.

I HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT THANKSGIVING.

I DID. MY KIDS ARE IN TOWN, SO WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. YOU GUYS IMAGINE THE FARMERS MARKET. I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND THE INTERFAITH COMMITTEE SERVICE IN WHICH OUR MAYOR HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK. IT BROUGHT THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER IN A MULTITUDE OF WAYS AND NOT ONLY GIVE KUDOS TO PARKLAND FOR HOSTING AND LIGHT UP THAT NIGHT HAS BEEN MENTIONED. I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT.

THEY HAVE DONE AN AMAZING JOB OF PULLING OUT ALL OF THE STOPS AND MAKING IT A GREAT EVENT. I'M SURE IT IS GOING TO BRING ACME DID TOGETHER FOR AN EVENING.

OLD FASHION FRIENDSHIP, CAMARADERIE.

IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL EVENT. ABOUT TO, MEANT THE MAYOR FOR A REALLY NICE ON VOLUNTEERISM AND PARKLAND.

IN IT AND I'M GOING TO QUOTE YOU, AMERICA YOU SAID, VOLUNTEERING IS THE SOCIAL MEDICINE WE ALL NEED TO TAKE ON A WEEKLY BASIS TO NURTURE OUR SOUL AND CALIBRATE OUR STATION IN LIFE. THE HOLIDAY SEASONS MORE THAN ANY OTHER WORDS A MULTITUDE OF OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE OF YOURSELF TO HELP YOUR FELLOW NEIGHBOR. I SUBSCRIBE TO THOSE WORDS AND I THINK THEY ARE BRILLIANT. AND I THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THOSE OUT THERE. AND I WANTED TO SAY HELLO TO MRD US TONIGHT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MAYOR.

>> RICH WALKER: THANK YOU VERY MUCH VICE MAYOR.

I WANT TO SAY ONE MORE THING. I'M JUST PULLING UP A TEXT MESSAGE. I KNOW SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE NERVOUS BECAUSE THEY SEE ACTION AT HENDRIX FARMS. SO WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MR. HENDRIX. HE IS NOT QUITE RETIRING FROM FARMING. THEY AT LEAST THE FARM -- LEAST THE FARM TO ANOTHER FARMER. AND HE IS STILL DOING A LOT OF THE WORK. HE IS NOT SELLING THE PROPERTY.

THEY WILL STILL BE FARMING THERE.

HE IS STILL INVOLVED. SO OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS A CHANGE COMING. BUT IT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE IT IS GOING TO BE THAT MUCH OF A CHANGE.

SO I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE COMMUNITY KNOWS IT, YOU KNOW, THE COMMISSION KNOWS IT. BUT, YOU KNOW, NANCY THAT WE

[00:45:02]

HAVE BEEN TALKING WITH HIM. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT, NANCY.

I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE. YES?

>> JUST ONE NOTE BECAUSE JORDAN BROUGHT UP SOMETHING OBVIOUSLY INVOLVING A CHARITY. CAN WE HAVE ON OUR NEXT COMMISSION MEETINGS, LOOKING AT OUR CHARITABLE LIST SO THAT WE CAN ADD OR, I MEAN, BECAUSE THE COURT MAYBE OTHERS, ESPECIALLY

DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. >> THAT IS A GREAT IDEA.

THAT IS A GREAT POINT. I GUESS -- OKAY.

THANK YOU. SO WE WILL DO THAT.

[7. Approval of the Agenda]

SO THAT IS IT. SO NOW WE WILL GO TO APPROVAL OF

THE AGENDA. >> SECOND.

>> RICH WALKER: WE HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE BY COMMISSIONER BRIER AND A SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN.

[LAUGHTER] >> NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT HAS

HAPPENED. >> TO FILL HIS HEAD.

>> ALL IN FAVOR. >> AYE.

[8. Consent Agenda]

>> RICH WALKER: ANY OPPOSED CUTS PLEASE SHOW IT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY. CONSENT AGENDA.

>> MOTION TO APPROVE. >> SECOND.

>> RICH WALKER: ANYONE FROM THE PUBLIC WISH TO SPEAK ON THE CONSENT AGENDA. SEEING AS IT IS, NOT GET WE HAVE

-- OH. >> YEAH, NANCY HAD SPOKEN TO YOU ABOUT SANITATION OF EQUIPMENT. IS THAT --

>> NANCY MORANDO: YES, I SPOKE TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR. THIS COMPANY WITHOUT A DOUBT WOULD BE HAPPY TO ADDRESS THAT EVERY EVENING.

>> RICH WALKER: GREAT. OKAY.

ALL RIGHT. SO THAN WE HAD A MOTION TO APPROVE BY COMMISSIONER BRIER AND 82ND BY VICE MAYOR CUTLER? ROLL CALL.

[9. Regular Agenda]

>> RICH WALKER: YES. PLEASE SHOW IT PASSES 4-1.

ANTHONY? REGULAR AGENDA?

>> ANTHONY SOROKA: THANK YOU, MAYOR.

ANTHONY SOROKA, ORDINANCE 20 2021-013.

BUT SHE WANTED ME TO MENTION THERE WAS ONE SLIGHT CHANGE WHICH IS REFLECTED IN THE DOCUMENT IN FRONT OF YOU.

THAT ONE REVISION THAT THE STATE REQUESTED.

SO THAT IS IN THE SECOND READING VERSION BEFORE YOU TONIGHT.

>> RICH WALKER: GREAT. SO AGAIN, THIS IS THE SECOND READING AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS BEING MORE OR LESS WE ARE BEING TOLD THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO DO.

SO WE ARE KIND OF JUST FOLLOWING WITH THE STATE HAS ALLIED FOR US. INCLUDING THE ADJUSTMENT.

SO -- >> ANTHONY SOROKA: THAT IS CORRECT. WE ARE REQUIRED BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND THE LAW THEY PASSED.

>> RICH WALKER: IS THERE ANYONE FROM THE PUBLIC WHO WISHES TO SPEAK ON THIS AGENDA ITEM? SEEING AS THERE'S AN UNCUT

MOTION TO APPROVE? >> SECOND.

TREATMENT MOTION TO APPROVE BY COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN AND A SECOND BY COMMISSIONER BRIER. ROLL CALL.

PLEASE SHOW IT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS SINCE WE HAD TO CHANGE THINGS VICE MAYOR MAYERSOHN. SO IT IS GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE MEETINGS FOR ME TO GET USED TO THAT.

JUST -- >> BOB MAYERSOHN: I LIKE COMMISSIONER MAYOR. [LAUGHTER]

>> ORDINANCE 2021. COULD UPDATE.

PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD APPOINTMENTS.

SECOND MEETING. ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY APARTMENT, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER TWO DEMONSTRATION, ARTICLE FOUR, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, DIVISION TWO, PARKS AND RECREATION THE ADVISORY BOARD, SECTION 2-47 MEMBERS TO PROVIDE TWO-YEAR TERMS OF ALTERNATES AT LARGE MEMBERS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD, PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION, CONFLICT, SEVERABILITY, AND AN

EFFECTIVE DATE. >> RICH WALKER: AT THIS IS PUTTING THE SAME TIMELINE ON THIS SEAT AS EVERYONE ELSE.

SO ANYONE FROM THE PUBLIC WHO WISHES TO SPEAK ON THIS AGENDA ITEM? SEEING AS THERE'S NONE, A MOTION

TO APPROVE? >> SECOND.

>> RICH WALKER: A MOTION TO APPROVE BY COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN AND A SECOND BY COMMISSIONER BRIER.

ROLL CALL.

>> RICH WALKER: IT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

>> I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION ON THIS.

FOR THE ADVISORY BOARDS EVEN SENT UP.

FOR THE COMMITTEES UNDER THEM, ARE THEY SELECTED WITH ANY TIME PERIOD? I KNOW WE WERE HAVING A COMMITTEE UNDER THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD NOW THAT IS

[00:50:02]

MEETING. ARE THEY --

>> NANCY MORANDO: NO, IT IS BASED ON T ON THE TASK THAT THE

GOING TO PERFORM. >> BOB MAYERSOHN: OKAY.

>> RICH WALKER: PERFECT. >> ANTHONY SOROKA: CONSIDER ACTION REGARDING CITY MANAGER'S PERFORMANCE REVIEW, CURRENT

PERIOD. >> RICH WALKER: JACKIE?

>> GOOD EVENING, AMERICAN VICE MAYOR.

I'M THE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND THE LIBRARY.

THIS SUNDAY MARKS THE TWO-YEAR ANNIVERSARY THAT OUR CITY MANAGER HAS HAD THIS ROLE PERMANENTLY.

AND PART OF HER CONTRACT THAT THE COMMISSION IS TO PROVIDE HER WITH AN ANNUAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION AND AN ASSOCIATED PERFORMANCE INCREASE OF UP TO 3%, JUST AS OUR GENERAL EMPLOYEES RECEIVE. SO I COULD TELL YOU AS AN HR DIRECTOR, IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR EMPLOYEES TO RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON THEIR PERFORMANCE ON A REGULAR BASIS.

IT IS NOT JUST GOOD FOR MORALE AND MOTIVATION.

BUT IT ENSURES THAT ALL OF US ARE MOVING IN THE SAME DIRECTION TO FORWARD THIS. SO I'M HAPPY THAT YOU ALL HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATION WITH THE CITY MANAGER ABOUT HER PERFORMANCE.

AND FROM THE FEEDBACK THAT I HAVE RECEIVED FROM YOU, THE AVERAGE% INCREASE IS 3%. SO I'M HERE TO INFORM YOU OF THAT AND TO OBTAIN YOUR CONSENT TO PROVIDE THE CITY MANAGER WITH

THAT. >> RICH WALKER: OKAY.

I WILL START WITH NANCY. I THINK I DO AGREE THAT JACKIE.

I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT, EVERYONE HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR FROM THEIR SUPERIORS, THEIR SUPERVISORS, WHATEVER, HOW THEY ARE DOING, WHETHER IT IS GOOD OR IT IS BAD.

YOU CAN'T GET BETTER WITHOUT APPROPRIATE FEEDBACK.

AND LIKE YOU SAID, IT IS GOOD FOR MORALE.

BUT IT ALSO GIVES YOU DIRECTION TO KNOW, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR WEAKNESSES? WHERE DO YOU HAVE TO IMPROVE? WHEN NANCY AND I SPOKE UP WE KIND OF WENT THROUGH SOME OF THOSE THINGS AND I APPRECIATE THE WAY NANCY OPERATES CITY HALL IN THAT SHE ALLOWS THE DIRECTORS AND MANAGERS TO DO THEIR JOB.

I THINK THAT GIVES MY OPINION, IT GIVES YOU THE FREEDOM TO PERFORM THE JOB HOW YOU BELIEVE IT SHOULD GET DONE.

AND ALLOWS YOU TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.

OBVIOUSLY, THERE'S ALWAYS A CONTROL AND DESTRUCTION WE NEED TO WIN AND WE HELP FACILITATE THAT DIRECTION.

AT I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE TO SHOW WHAT THEY HAVE.

THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS I ALWAYS DO IN MY BUSINESS.

YOU KNOW? MY MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS, I LET THEM RUN. YOU KNOW? IF THERE'S AN ISSUE, WE TALK ABOUT IT.

MAYBE THEY TELL ME THAT I'M NOT THINKING RIGHT.

AND THE WAY THEY ARE DOING IT IS THE RIGHT WAY.

AND I THINK THOSE ARE IMPORTANT CONVERSATIONS.

AND I KNOW YOU HAVE THOSE. I APPRECIATE THAT STOUT IN MANAGING -- STYLE IN MANAGEMENT. I THINK THAT GETS THE MOST OUT OF PEOPLE. IT MAKES THEM MORE VESTED IN THEIR JOB, NOT THAT ANYBODY HERE IS NOT.

I THINK OUR STAFF IS AMAZING. THEY OBVIOUSLY CARE ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY. AND IT SHOWS.

SO I THINK THAT IS IMPORTANT. AND THAT IS, THIS TO YOU NANCY FOR ALLOWING THAT TO HAPPEN. YOU DON'T MICROMANAGE WHICH, YOU KNOW, TALK TO ME 15 YEARS AGO AND THAT EXACTLY WHAT I WAS UNTIL I LEARNED THAT IS NOT THE WAY TO GROW.

YOURSELF, YOUR BUSINESS, AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH YOU.

SO I DO APPRECIATE THAT STYLE. AND I KNOW THE REST OF THE STAF? I HEAR THINGS ALL THE TIME. COMMUNICATION IS FANTASTIC.

YOU SEE PEOPLE STEPPING UP AND DOING MORE DOING BETTER.

IN THAT, TO ME, THAT IS A SIGN OF YOUR LEADERSHIP.

SO I DO APPR APPRECIATE THAT. DOES ANYBODY ELSE HAVE ANY --

COMMISSIONER ISROW? >> JORDAN ISROW: I MEAN, I AM NOT SHY ABOUT HOW IN ALL I AM -- AWE I AM.

THE CONTEXT OF OTHER CITIES AND BEING ABLE TO HAVE MORE IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF HOW CITIES OPERATE.

AND WHAT I HAVE COME TO LEARN IN THIS WHOLE EXPENSES THAT A CITY DEVELOPS ITS OWN CULTURE BASED UPON THE LEADERSHIP.

AND THAT IS FROM THE COMMISSION, CITY MANAGER AND ALL THE WAY

[00:55:01]

DOWN. AND JUST LIKE ANY BUSINESS, IF YOU HAVE A TOXIC CULTURE, YOU HAVE ONE BAD APPLE, IT CAN SPOIL THE WHOLE THING. AND I THINK WHEN YOU VIEW CITY OF PARKLAND, YOU LOOK AT IT FROM A FINANCIAL TEMPLATE WHICH I DON'T THINK WE COULD BE IN ANY BETTER SITUATION.

WE LOOK AT IT FROM A CULTURAL STANDPOINT WHICH I SEE IN KIND OF CARRYING ON THE AMERICAN YOU SEE HOW INVOLVED THE DIRECTORS ARE. UC HEALTH INVOLVED THE CITY STAFF IS. ACTUALLY PASSIONATE AND ACTUALLY CARING ABOUT WHAT IT IS THAT THEY ARE DOING, AT WHAT THEY ARE SEEKING TO ACCOMPLISH. A LOT OF THAT STARTS WITH THE MANAGER AND I THINK IT IS A TWO-WAY STREET.

YOU FEED OFF OF ONE ANOTHER. I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT AND THIRD IS JUST THE OVERALL GENERAL SENTIMENT OF THE CITY.

I'M IN, I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT FOR AS MANY OF THE DOWNS THAT THE CITY HAS HAD AN THINGS BEYOND OUR CONTROL, FOR THE MOST PART THAT THIS IS A VERY WELL-REGARDED CITY FROM ALL AROUND SOUTH FLORIDA, IF NOT THE STAY IN AND OF ITSELF,' ABOUT HOW WE INTERACT WITH ONE ANOTHER, HOW WE COME TO EACH OTHER'S AID. AND A LOT OF THAT IS NOT FROM THE RESIDENTS THEMSELVES BUT THAT IS IMBUED WITH WHAT HAPPENS WITHIN THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF HOW THE CITY'S RUN AND HOW PEOPLE PERCEIVE THE CITY.

AND THAT CREATES ITS OWN INTERNAL COMMUNITY.

I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT YOU, AGAIN, KUDOS, CONGRATULATIONS, WHATEVER THE WORD YOU WANT TO USE.

KEEP, THE WORK -- KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

>> THANK YOU, MAYOR. WANT TO THANK YOU, NANCY, FOR DOING EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO DO.

I HAD FAITH IN YOU WHEN WE PUT YOU IN THIS JOB AND YOU HAVE NOT LET ME DOWN NOT ONE D TIME EVER. I THANK YOU FOR DOING THAT.

WE HAVE HAD SO MANY BIG ISSUES THAT HAVE COME UP AND WE HAVE SO MANY MORE BIG ISSUES THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE FACED WITH AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR LEADERSHIP BECAUSE I KNOW YOU HAVE IT IN YOU. SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> RICH WALKER: COMMISSIONER BRIER?

>> SIMEON BRIER: I WANT TO THANK NANCY FOR ALL SHE DOES.

THE REVIEW PERIOD IS ONE THING. BUT WE CAN'T YOU KNOW, AND I KNOW YOU ALL DO AS WELL. WE TALK WITH NANCY ON A LOW BASIS. GIVING THAT FEEDBACK LIVE AT THE TIME RATHER THAN WAITING FOR AN ANNUAL OR A SEMIANNUAL REVIEW IS CRITICAL. WE HAVE HAD DISCUSSIONS, WHETHER IT IS COMMUNICATION ISSUE OR WHETHER IT IS SOME OTHER ISSUE, GIVING THAT FEEDBACK IN THE TIME I THINK IS VERY HELPFUL.

AND I KNOW NANCY HAS TAKEN IT AND SHE HAS BEEN RECEPTIVE AND I KNOW THAT SHE IS WORKED HARD TO ADDRESS IF THERE IS A MINOR ISSUE OR AN ISSUE. WITH THAT, I'M VERY HAPPY.

MY VIEW THAT REVIEW PERIOD IS BEING NOT LESS IMPORTANT, IT IS STILL IMPORTANT. BUT IT IS IN TANDEM WITH THE RICHLER FEEDBACK. AND ANYTIME I HAVE APPROACHED NANCY WITH AN ISSUE OR ANY TIME I HAVE GONE TO HER TO TALK ABOUT SOME CREATIVE IDEAS THAT SOME RESIDENT HAS BROUGHT TO THE TABLE, IT IS RECEIVED WELL AND SHE IS ACCEPTED OF ANY CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. WITH THAT, I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE, I'M GOING TO KEEP ON DOING IT.

I WOULD ENCOURAGE THE OTHER COMMISSIONERS TO GIVE HER THAT FEEDBACK IN REAL-TIME, RATHER THAN WAITING ON AN ISSUE THAT HAPPENED SIX-MONTH AGO OR FOUR-MONTH AGO.

SO THANK YOU. >> RICH WALKER: THANK YOU.

COMMISSIONER BRIER? COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN?

>> BOB MAYERSOHN: NAFT COMMISSIONER MAYERSOHN? MY COMMENTS ARE, I GUESS, SIMILARLY IN LINE IS, NANCY HAS DONE A GREAT JOB AS FAR AS CULTIVATING STAFF.

SHE HAS ADDRESSED A LOT OF ISSUES.

SHE AND I'VE HAD HAD NUMEROUS CONVERSATIONS.

THE ONLY THING THAT I GO BACK TO IS, AND THIS IS JUST PROBABLY ME, NOT NECESSARILY ANYBODY ELSE.

AT GOING BACK TO KIND OF CREATING THE TOOL THAT I CAN HAVE A DIALOGUE WITH NANCY ABOUT RELATED BACK TO THE STRATEGIC PARTNER. I THINK AS AN ELECTED BOARD, THAT IS REALLY HOW WE GOVERN. WE CAN SEE LITTLE THINGS HERE AND THERE. WE GOT A CALL FROM A RESIDENT.

BUT STRATEGICALLY, HOW WE MOVE FORWARD AND ESPECIALLY THERE ARE A LOT OF PROJECTS THAT PROCEED THAT TAKE MULTIPLE YEARS.

SO I GO BACK AT NANCY AND I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS, TREAT IT WITH THE WEEKEND ALL AGREE UPON THAT IS OBSERVABLE, MEASURABLE, TO KIND OF PROVIDE THAT EVALUATION, NOT SOLELY TO SAY THAT THAT IS THE BE-ALL AND END-ALL. BUT AT LEAST THE KIND OF GUIDANCE SO THAT WE CAN ADDRESS STRATEGICALLY AS WE MOVE FORWARD AND WE TALKED ABOUT BEFORE INSTEAD OF DOING IT WAIT UNTIL APRIL TO DO IT, MAYBE WE HAVE A TWICE A YEAR.

SO THOSE ARE MY COMMENTS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO TRYING TO WORK TOGETHER TO FIND SOMETHING. I KNOW IT IS -- WE HAVE HAD CONVERSATIONS. IT IS DIFFICULT.

HOW YOU MEASURE CERTAIN THINGS. BUT I KNOW WE CAN GET THERE.

[01:00:08]

>> I TURNED IT OFF. I HAD IT ON.

OKAY. GREAT.

ANYONE FROM THE PUBLIC WISHES TO SPEAK ON THIS AGENDA ITEM? SEEING AS THERE'S NONE, SO RIGHT NOW, I GUESS WOULD BE A MOTION

FOR A 3%. >> MOTION TO APPROVE.

I WANTED AT THAT, AND I FORGOT TO MENTION DISTRICT WE TALK ABOUT THE DIRECTORS AND THEIR COMMITMENT.

THAT IS A TOUGH ONE EFFECT. AND I THINK THAT MESSAGE GETS SENT AND WHEN I TALK TO ANYONE IN CITY HALL, ANY EMPLOYEE, CITY HALL, THERE IS A COMMITMENT TO THE CITY AND DOING THEIR JOB.

AND I THINK THAT IS AN EFECTIVE TOP-DOWN.

BUT MOTION TO APPROVE. >> SECOND.

>> RICH WALKER: I HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE BY THE 3%.

>> BASED ON THE AVERAGE FROM THE ANNUAL REPORT.

>> RICH WALKER: SO WHAT COMMISSIONER BRIER JUST SAID, AND A SECOND BY COMMISSIONER ISROW.

ROLL CALL.

>> RICH WALKER: PLEASE SHOW IT PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.

[10. Comments by the Broward Sheriff's Office]

CONGRATULATIONS, NANCY. AND THANK YOU.

COMMENTS BY THE BROWARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE?

>> GOOD EVENING. FIRST OF ALL, CONGRATULATIONS, I WILL SAY. THE RELATIONSHIP THAT WE ARE BUILDING IS INVALUABLE. JUST THINK YOU.

AS FAR AS THE CRIME IN THE CITY, WE ARE HOLDING.

WE HAVE NEW TRENDS AS OF THIS POINT.

I WILL SAY, FOR ONE WHO IS HERE AND LISTENING TO SURROUNDING CITIES ARE HAMMERED WITH VEHICLE BURGLARIES.

OUR RESIDENTS ARE STICKING WITH THE 9:00 WITH TEENS.

THEY ARE CHECKING THEIR DOORS. KEEP IT UP.

THEY ARE ALSO SAYING THAT YOU ARE OUT SHOPPING AND WHEN YOU GET HOME, DON'T WAIT UNTIL LATER.

BRING HIM IN. THERE ARE A LOT OF CITIZENS WHERE THEY ARE LEAVING THE KEYS IN THE CAR AND THE EARTH TAKING SANTA'S WHOLE SLEIGH WITH THEM. AND IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS SINCE THE LAST MEETING, WE HAD THREE DUI ACCIDENTS IN THE CITY.

PLEASE BE SAFE. OUR GOAL IS NOT TO ARREST PEOPLE. IT IS JUST TO BE SAFE.

THERE ARE A LOT OF OPTIONS OUT THERE.

PLEASE UTILIZE THEM. OTHER THAN THAT, NO MORE COMMON.

>> ONE COMMENTED MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN -- LISTENING UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE THE VACATION THING.

>> WE PUT IT OUT ON TWITTER. WE PUT IT EVERYWHERE.

IF YOU ARE GOING OUT-OF-TOWN AND ONLINE, FILL IT OUT.

WE WILL CHECK YOUR HOUSE. >> YOU HAVE DONE IT FOR ME.

IT IS GREAT. I ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO USE IT.

>> BSO DOES NOT HAVE -- BSO PARKLAND DOES NOT HAVE A

FACEBOOK ACCOUNT, CORRECT? >> WE ARE NOT UTILIZING ONE.

>> IS BSO UTILIZING ONE BOX. >> THEY HAVE A FACEBOOK THAT

YES. >> YES.

I'M SURE THAT THE VACATION WATCH IS COUNTYWIDE?

>> ALL OF THE AGENCIES. WE HAVE BEEN PUTTING OUT BSO PARKLAND. THEY HAVE BEEN PUTTING IT OUT PROBABLY SINCE. I HAVE SEEN AND FOUR OR FIVE

TIMES. >> I SAW THAT ON TWITTER AND NEXT DOOR. I'M JUST SENDING IT OUT TO LET PEOPLE KNOW. AROUND THE HOLIDAYS, PEOPLE

GOING AWAY. >> DEFINITELY.

[11. Comments by the Coral Springs/Parkland Fire Department]

THANK YOU. >> GREAT.

>> RICH WALKER: THANK YOU. COMMENTS BY THE CORAL SPRINGS

PARKLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT? >> GOOD EVENING.

I GAVE OUR STATS AT LAST MEETING, SO I WON'T BORE YOU WITH THAT. A COUPLE.

UPDATES. SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU MENTIONED ABOUT REACHING OUT TO THE OXFORD.

THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE AS WELL TO THE UP FAR DEPARTMENT.

THE INCIDENT COMMANDER WHICH -- SO I APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS.

AFTER DOUGLAS, I WAS SWITCHED OUT BY THE INCIDENT COMMANDER FROM KELLY VAUGHEN HIGH SCHOOL AND IT WAS A VERY TOUCHING -- WAS VERY TOUCHING. YOU MAY NOT KNOW HOW MUCH IT IS APPRECIATED, BUT IT IS. THE LAST THING TO TALK ABOUT IS THE OMICRON VERSION OF COVID. I CAN TELL YOU WE HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AT OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT.

WE SPOKE AT A MEDICAL DIRECTOR. THERE IS ONLY ONE CASE IN THE

[01:05:01]

UNITED STATES RIGHT NOW. THAT IS IN CALIFORNIA.

PRETTY FAR AWAY. THAT DOES NOT MEAN WE ARE PUTTING OUR GUARD DOWN. WE ARE WATCHING IS VERY CLOSELY.

WE ARE ALSO BEING TOLD THAT BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY VARIANTS, KIND OF SEEMS SCARY. AT THOSE ADDITIONAL VARIANTS ARE CAUSING THE STRINGS TO BECOME WEAKER AND WEAKER AND WEAKER.

SO ALTHOUGH IT IS SCARY THAT WE SEE THESE UPTICKS IN DIFFERENT KINDS OF VARIANCE THEY CAN BE POSITIVE.

THE OVERALL COVID VIRUS BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING WEAKER.

WE ARE WATCHING IT. OUR MEDICAL DIRECTOR IS ASKING EVERYBODY TO THE NOT JUST GET VACCINATED BUT IF YOU ARE EDIBLE TO GET A BOOSTER, TO DO THAT. THE BOOSTER IS NOT SPECIFICALLY ENGINEERED FOR THIS VERY IN. HOWEVER, HAVING IT WILL ASSIST IN SOME WAYS AND HOPEFULLY YOU ARE NOT GETTING IT.

THAT IS THE ADVICE THAT WE ARE GIVING UP TO RESIDENTS.

>> RICH WALKER: RIGHT. BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I HEARD, THE PERSON WHO HAS IT -- HAD IT WAS FULLY VACCINATED AND HE CONTRACTED OBVIOUSLY THE VARIANT BUT ARE JUST SICK.

SO THEY ARE RECOVERING. I THINK TO THE POINT, IF YOU GET VACCINATED, YOU COULD STILL GET COVID.

BUT YOUR -- YOUR LIKELIHOOD OF GETTING VERY SICK OR WORSE IS DRASTICALLY REDUCED. SO OBVIOUSLY, THAT DOESN'T TELL YOU THE VACCINE MAY NOT STOP IT. BUT IT DOES WORK TO WHERE YOU

ARE NOT GETTING SICK. >> RICH WALKER: AND THIS VERSION SPECIFICALLY I'M SURE YOU HAVE HEARDIS MUCH EASIER TO CATCH.

HOWEVER, A ARE SEEING THE ILLNESS SEVERITY IS MUCH LESS, EVEN IF YOU DO GET IT. SO I KNOW THAT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE GREAT NEWS. BUT IT REALLY IS IN THE CASE THAT IF YOU HAVE TO GET INTO YOU MIGHT NOT GET AS SICK.

AND WE ARE OFFERING THAT REGENERON TREATMENT FOR EMPLOYEES IF ANYONE -- GET IT. THEY ARE SHOWING THAT THE

PROCESS IS BENEFICIAL. >> RICH WALKER: AND THEN WE APPRECIATE YOU DOING THE SANTA TRUCK.

JUST AS A REMINDER, WE WILL TAKE A LOOK AT THE PANTRY ROUTE AREA.

AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT. >> AND EVERY YEAR, WE DO OUR BEST. IT IS A DIFFICULT TASK.

WHAT WE DID THIS YEAR IS MAP AND WE JUST MOVED THE STREETS OF YOU OVER IN EITHER DIRECTION. SO WE HOPEFULLY WILL HIT DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOODS. THE STREETS WILL NOT BE IDENTICAL. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING THAT IS MISSED, PLEASE LET US KNOW. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO GET THERE TO THOSE WHO ARE LISTENING, THOUGH.

IT IS NOT A PERFECT SCIENCE. SANTA IS A BUSY MAN AND WE ARE DOING OUR VERY BEST TO MAKE SURE THAT HE AND HIS ELVES CAN GET TO

EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD. >> RICH WALKER: BUT WE DO APPRECIATE IT. IF YOU LOOK AT THE MAPS, YOU ARE TOUCHING A LARGE PORTION OF PARKLAND.

SO IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. >> WE ARE TRYING AND AS THE EVENT GETS CLOSER, ONLY A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE GET OUT TO THE RESIDENCE SO THAT THEY CAN TRACK SANTA LIVE ON THE INTERNET SO THAT THEY KNOW WHERE HE IS COMING.

>> RICH WALKER: PERFECT CUT. >> THE ONLY COMMENT OR FEEDBACK THAT I GOT AND LIKE YOU SAID, SANTA CAN'T BE EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME. IN THE EAST SIDE OF PARKLAND THE SAME DAY AS -- SO I DON'T KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN DETER THE ROUTE AND JUST DRIVE BY SNOW FEST.

JUST THROWING IT OUT THERE. >> I WILL TALK TO BETH BIGMAN.

HE IS VERY -- THE BIG MAN. HE IS VERY DECISIVE.

[12. Comments by the City Manager]

WE WILL GET AN ANSWER. >> THANK YOU.

COMMENTS BY THE CITY MANAGER? >> I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL FOR UP MY PERFORMANCE REVIEW. I HAVE TO SAY THAT IT IS SUCH A PLEASURE AND AN HONOR WORKING FOR YOU ALL, IT BEING SUCH WELL COHESIVE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO RET DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEWS AND STAYS VERY PROFESSIONAL AT ALL TIMES.

IT IS A BLESSING TO HAVE US ON A COMMISSION LIKE YOU.

AND I COULD NOT SUCCEED WITHOUT YOU.

AND MOST IMPORTANT, FOR MY EMPLOYEES AND I'M TALKING MY ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER, MY DEPARTMENT HEADS, ALL THE WAY DOWN TO MIKE MAINTENANCE WORKERS.

-- MY MAINTENANCE WORKERS. I COULD NOT SUCCEED WITHOUT YOU ALL. TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY.

NOTES YOU ALL KNOW THAT. AND I AM ALWAYS THERE TO SUPPORT YOU AND TO THE GUIDE YOU AND IT HAS BEEN SUCH A PLEASURE TO WHERE A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT CARE AS MUCH AS YOU ALL DO AND I CANNOT SUCCEED WITHOUT YOU. SO I THINK YOU AND I THINK YOU.

>> RICH WALKER: THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE]

COMMENTS BY THE CITY ATTORNEY? >> THAT IS TOUGH TO FOLLOW.

[01:10:03]

NO COMMENT TONIGHT. >> RICH WALKER: OKAY.
