[1. Call to Order]
[00:00:11]
ADA MEETING FOR 2021. STAND FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. THANK YOU.
CITY CLERK, WOULD YOU PLEASE DO THE ROLL CALL.
>> DANIEL BOARELLI? ROBBY BRIAR.
>> THANK YOU. ANY COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC?
>> WELCOME. >> THIS IS NANCY MOREANDO.
[5.A. Discuss ADA Transition Plan documents]
CITY MANAGER. BY THE WAY.THANK YOU SO MUCH. I APPRECIATE ALL FIVE OF YOU BEING HERE AND HELPING US OUT THIS EVENING.
CITY UNDERTAKING PROCESS OF DEVELOPING ADA TRANSITION PLAN.
I HAVE SENT SEVERAL DOCUMENTS PRIOR TO THIS MEETING.
REQUIRES STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS INSURE ALL OF THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE COMMUNITY WITH DISABILITIES NOT EXCLUDED FROM PROGRAMS, SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES.
LARGE DOCUMENT IS THE FISCAL TRANSITION LAN.
SO PUTTING TOGETHER THE TRANSITION PLAN IS SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO ASSIST US REMEDIATING DEFICIENCIES AFTER ACCESSIBILITY FOR OUR RESIDENTS. ANY INPUT YOU ARE PROVIDEING TO US IS SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO ASSIST US WITH RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION BY OUR CITY COMMISSION WHEN WE PROVIDE THEM WITH THE FINAL TRANSITION PLAN. WHAT I FIGURED WE COULD DO IS GO ONE BY ONE IN PROVIDING FEEDBACK YOU MIGHT HAVE ON THE DOCUMENTS YOU REVIEWED. AFTER THAT FEEDBACK ON ANY PERSONAL CONSIDERATIONS AND THINGS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN COVERED IF THAT IS OKAY WITH YOU ALL. HOW ABOUT WE START WITH BOB?
>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THERE ARE ADDITIONAL ONES THAT
SUPPLEMENT THIS. >> OTHER PARTS OF THE PLAN FOR SURE. 691 PAGE DOCUMENT PHYSICAL PLAN DRMP DID FOR US. WE WILL NEED TO COMMUNICATE
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES. >> JACKIE, IF I MAY EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOT COMMENTING ON THE OTHER SEGMENTS.
THAT DOCUMENT IS ADOPTED BY CITY COMMISSION.
IT IS A LIVE IN DOCUMENT SO AT ANY POINT IN TIME, PUBLIC CAN MAKE GENERAL COMMENTS ON ANY PORTION OF THAT PLAN.
>> HOW ARE WE GOING ABOUT NORTH SPRING IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT AND
BROWARD? >> THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION.
WE HAVE DONE EXERCISES IN THE PAST THAT INVOLVED OTHER AGENCIES. THOSE AGENCIES HAVE THEIR OWN APPROVAL. USUALLY WHEN IT IS AS IMPORTANT AS ADA, THEY GET UP IN THEIR PROCESSES.
>> OKAY. MY NEXT QUESTION IS? THERE IS A LOT OF ISSUES ON DEGREES OF SIDEWALKS OR RAMPS.
[00:05:04]
IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL SHIFTING?>> THE CITY ITSELF WE HAVE OUR SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT PLAN.
IF YOU LOOK AROUND THE CITY FROM TIME TO TIME, YOU'LL SEE SEG MS BEING REPLACED. A LOT OF THE OF SIDEWALKS WE DO IN-HOUSE WITH PUBLIC WORK STAFF. WITH SIDEWALKS, TREES, UTILITY PIPES. THEY'LL HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
>> THANK YOU. NOW THAT YOU PUT A PLAN TOGETHER LIKE THIS, SHOWS YOU WHERE THE DEFICIENTS ARE.
I GUESS -- JUST SOMETHING TO THAT CAME TO MY MIND.
IT HAS TAKEN FOUR YEARS TO FIX THE DEFICIENCY.
SOMEONE TRIPPED AND FELL BECAUSE IT WASN'T LONG ENOUGH.
ANY THOUGHT AROUND THAT. >> YOU CAN GET SUED FOR ANYTHING. WHAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SAID TO MUNICIPALITIES IS. ONCE YOU DRAFTED THIS DOCUMENT.
IT IS BASICALLY YOUR ROAD MAP AND YOUR GUIDE.
HOW EXPEDITIOUSLY YOU MOVE THROUGH THE PROCESS IS YOUR FLOW. TO YOUR POINT, YOU DIDN'T FIX IT, SOMEONE TRIPS AND FALLS AND SUES YOU.
OPEN ENDED THERE. WHAT WE DO INTERNALLY IN THIS PROCESS. CONSULTANTS MAKE RECOMMENDATION TO THE CITY. WE HAVE OUR OWN SIDEWALK PLAN.
WE'LL JUST DO IT ALL. WE WON'T GOBACK BASED ON
PRIORITY RECOMMENDATION. >> PART OF THE PLAN PART OF THE REASON ENGINEERS LISTED THINGS BEING LOW, MEDIUM AND HIGH PRIORITY. SOMETIMES IT IS THE LIKELYHOOD SOME INCIDENT COULD HAPPEN. SOMETHING THAT NEEDS REMEDIATION. THEY FEEL IS A BIG HAZARD THEY ARE GOING TO PUSH IT HIGHER ON THE LIST.
>> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INVITING ME FOR THIS.
I HAVE BEEN A RESIDENT ON AND OFF LAST 20 YEARS.
I HAVE A KID HE IS IN THE SPECTRUM.
VERY HIGH FUNCTIONING. THIS IS VERY NICE TO SEE PARKLAND IS HAVING TRANSITION PLAN TO WORK WITH.
ABOUT AS YOU MENTIONED IT ALREADY, THIS IS ONLY INVOLVING PHYSICAL INSTRUCTORSTRUCTURE RAL PIECE.
IF YOU HAVE INPUT ON WHAT WE ARE PROVIDING THEN THAT IS WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SO WE CAN DEFINITELY MAKE THAT PART OF A
THANK YOU. >> SO ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR DOCUMENT. I WENT THROUGH IT.
BASICALLY HAVE ABOUT PRIORITY FOR EXAMPLE, SIDEWALKS.
THEY WERE LISTED, PAGE 22. TABLE 1 FOR EXAMPLE.
MY QUESTION IS CRITERIA HIGH PRIORITY BASED ON HOW MANY SOME OF THE STREETS IF IT IS VERY USED OR NOT.
[00:10:01]
SO LIKE HOW DID THAT DO FIND THAT IS A HIGH PRIORITY ROAD.FOR EXAMPLE, FROM WAXAHACHIE DOESN'T SEEM LIKE MANY PEOPLE WALKING REGARDLESS IF YOU HAVE DISABILITIES OR NOT.
>> THERE WOULD BE STUDENTS WALKING TO RIVER CLADZ.
>> THERE IS AREAS LIKE IN WAXAHACHIE I DON'T THINK IT IS
EVEN SAFE. >> I CAN TAKE A CRACK AT THAT.
THERE IS AREAS IN WAXAHACHIE WITH NO SIDEWALKS.
>> YES. THEY HAVE TO ASSUME ALL SIDEWALKS CONSTRUCTED UTILIZED BY PEDESTRIANS.
IT IS NOT BEING RANKED BASED UPON HOW MANY PEDESTRIANS, THE FACT SOMEONE COULD WALK ON THE SIDEWALK AND PUT IN THE PUBLIC USE HOW IT HAS TO BE LOOKED UPON.
>> AND THE ONE OTHER QUESTION OR ONE COMMENT WAS ABOUT THE RESTROOMS. CRITERIA.
LIKE THE STRUCTURAL, SINCE IT IS FINE.
BUT FOR SOME IN THE PLAYGROUNDS HAVING A KID WITH A DISABILITY I FEEL LIKE THE NEED OF A FAMILY RESTAURANT RATHER THAN SEPARATING WOMEN AND MEN. BIKE TRAILS, SPECIFICALLY IF ONE COULD BE A FAMILY BATHROOM WOULD BE MORE, I THINK HELPFUL.
BECAUSE THERE ARE CASES MY SON IS ALREADY SEVEN YEARS OLD.
I DON'T TRUST HIM. I AM USUALLY THE ONE TAKING HIM TO THE PARK AND I AM A FEMALE. IF I WANT TO BRING HIM IN THE RESTROOM, LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE. I HAVE HEARD FROM OTHERS, THEY ARE TEENAGERS, THAT IS ONE STRUGGLE THE BATHROOM.
IT IS NOT ONLY IN THE PLAYGROUNDS BUT THE LIBRARY.
EXISTING PROGRAMS. IT IS JUST DO HAVE ACTIVITIES ALSO WELCOMING IN FOR SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS.
THEY ARE GOING TO BE NOT TO CATER BUT A LIST THEY WILL BE UNDERSTOOD. IN A WAY THAT FOR EXAMPLE IN A LIBRARY, I WAS TALKING WITH MY HUSBAND WE WERE SAYING IT IS HARD FOR US TO GO TO A LIBRARY AND OUR KID WITH DISABILITY TO STAY QUIET. THAT IS WHY WE STOPPED USING IT, WE FEEL LIKE IT IS MORE OF A BURDEN TO TAKE OUR SON TO ENJOY OTHERS. IT WOULD BE A NICE TO HAVE A PROGRAM SET UP FOR SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS CAN GO AND PARTICIPATE AND FEEL FREE. THOSE ARE MY COMMENTS RIGHT NOW.
>> BEEN A RESIDENT 18 MONTHS. MOVED BACK AFTER 10 YEARS.
MY EXPERIENCE COMING FROM THIS, PUBLIC SERVANT FOR A DECADE.
UNDERSTANDING DIFFERENT TYPES OF NEEDS A LOT OF THE ISSUES.
WE MANAGED FACILITIES BALANCING NEEDS OF THE PUBLIC MAINTAINING NATURAL RESOURCE. THOSE OFTEN DON'T INTERJECT.
I FOUND IT MORE REFRESHING. FOCUSSING TRULY TO ACCESSIBILITY
[00:15:03]
OF ACCESS AREAS. SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON MY BICYCLE. I RIDE MY DAUGHTER TO AND FROM EVERYDAY IN THE CITY. I AM FAMILIAR WHERE THE PICTURES WERE TAKING. FOR ME I UNDERSTAND DIFFICULTIES WHEN YOU WORK WITH DIFFERENT JURISDICTIONS.RARELY SEEN A PATCHWORK OF ROADS OW OWNED. BY DIFFERENT ENTITIES.
I WOULD STRUGGLE THE CITY OF PARKLAND, REVENUE SOURCES IN ORDER TO MAKE OR CARRY IT OUT IN AN EXPEDITIOUS FASHION.
A LOT OF THESE AREAS COMINGLE AND GO TO AND FROM EACH OTHER.
BUT HAS THE CONSIDERATION BEEN DONE.
TRYING TO WORK WITH THESE ENTITIES A LOT OF NEW TRANSPORTATION MONEY THAT BECOME AVAILABLE.
I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE CITY'S APPROACH WITH THOSE FACTORS.
I SUSPECT A LOT OF AREAS PROBABLY NEED IMPROVEMENT THAT COULD BE COMINGLED TOGETHER INTO DRAINAGE PROJECTS.
WE HAVE TO GET OUT IN FRONT OF IT AND GET IT GOING.
I HAVE WORKED WITH NISD. WE HAVE DONE OTHER REPORTS.
THEY TEND TO MOVE QUICKER THAN THE COUNTY DOES.
I HAVE A LITTLE CONFIDENCE I CAN WORK WITH THEM.
FROM A COUNTY'S PERSPECTIVE, NO MAGIC WAND WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PUT THE WORK IN AND COORDINATE WITH THEM.
>> WHO WITHIN THE CITY DEPARTMENT THOSE WOULDN'T BE GRANTS. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
>> COULD BE A COMBINATION OF A FEW DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS.
IF YOU REMEMBER AT ONE POINT, WE HAD HILLSBOROUGH BOULEVARD THAT CURVED AROUND TO LOCK ROAD. CLOSED OFF.
WE WANTED COUNTY TO GET A SIDEWALK FOR SAFETY REASONS.
SAME PROCESS STARTED HERE AT THE CITY, RESIDENTS ASKING US, WE WENT TO THE COUNTY TCOORDINATION BACK AND FORTH.
STARTS WITH OUR ENGINEER DEPARTMENT.
ULTIMATELY IF WE DON'T GET TRACTION WE PULL IT UP WITH THEIR COUNTER PARTIES IN THE COUNTY.
>> BECAUSE OF THE WAY I EXPERIENCE THE LANDSCAPE OF THE ROADS AND ACCESS TO THE AREAS, ALWAYS STRIKES ME AT HOW ACCESSIBLE THE CITY CAN BE BECAUSE OF THE WAY IN WHICH THE NEIGHBORHOODS ARE DEVELOPED. ACCESS THAT IS OR ISN'T PROVIDED TO ROADS AND SCHOOLS. I AM SURE EVERYONE HAS SEEN A CAR LINE. IT IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS WITH WAXAHACHIE ROAD NOT SEEING ANYBODY.
A LOT OF THE DEVELOPMENT HAPPENED RELATIVELY QUICKLY.
MY HOPE IS THAT THE AREA BECOMES A MORE WALKABLE, BIKEABLE, ACCESSIBLE COMMUNITY FOR EVERYBODY INVOLVED.
WE HAVE GREAT WEATHER HERE. WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO GO OUTDOORS, BE OUTDOORS MORE AND MORE OFTEN.
[00:20:03]
WE NEED TO CAPITALIZE. PEOPLE CAN'T ACCESS THEM.SO THEN A LOT OF CASES MITIGATIONS OF THE EXISTING FACILITY. WHERE POSSIBLE PROVIDING ADDITIONAL ACCESS TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE.
PEOPLE WILL ONLY USE FACILITIES IF THEY ARE THERE.
I CAN'T FALLY DISCUSS THAT ENOUGH.
IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME. PEOPLE COMPLAIN YOU NEED MORE OF THIS. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN TIME AND AGAIN. AMONG THE POPULATION OF PARKLAND THERE IS A PUSH TO THEIR THING. WE HAVE GROWN UP IN THIS TOWN, BIG CITY. SUBURBANIZED AREA.
WE HAVE TO REFLECT THAT GROWTH AND PROVIDE FACILITFACILITIES.
AND ASIDE WHAT HE MENTIONED COORDINATING, PRETTY MUCH.
>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH. >> HI, MY NAME IS DEBBIE.
I HAVE A 12-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IN A WHEELCHAIR.
THAT WAS MY DAUGHTER'S FOCUS. WE CAME UP WITH A FEW QUESTIONS.
TOWARD LIBERTY PARK THEY DIDN'T LIST THE MULCH IS BEING REMOVED.
WE WONDERED IF THERE IS A REASON WHY.
>> HAVE TO NOTE THAT FOR THE RECORD.
>> WE JUST RECENTLY. WENT THERE WITH FRIENDS AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. VERY LITTLE SHE COULD DO.
THE AT LIBERTY THERE IS NO WAY TO GET FROM THE LOWER LEVEL UP TO THE HIGHER LEVEL THING. I DON'T KNOW THERE WAS A LOT OF YOU KNOW, LOOKING AT NEW STRUCTURE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING LIKE A RAMP OR ANYTHING THAT COULD BE MADE SO IT COULD GET UP TO THE SECOND LEVEL. THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO GET UP TO ANY OF THE OTHER LEVELS. YOU CAN GET UP THERE TO PART OF THE SECOND LEVEL THEN YOU ARE JUST KIND OF STUCK THERE.
AND IF THEY WERE ADDING EQUIPMENT TO ANY OF THOSE PARKS, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS SUCH A THING, BUT APPARENTLY THERE ARE ACCESSIBLE SWINGS WHERE THE WHEELCHAIRS CAN JUST GO RIGHT ON IT. THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT -- THEN ACTIVE TYING RUNTIES -- ACTIVITIES WISE, I KNOW PEOPLE COMMENTED. EVEN THE PUMPKIN PATCH.
[LAUGHTER] IT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYBODY.
>> THAT WAS ALL THE COMMENTS. >> GREAT.
>> REALLY APPRECIATED. >> THANK YOU FOR INVOLVING HER
[00:25:04]
IN THE PROCESS AS WELL. WE APPRECIATE THAT.AND DANIEL? >> I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE FOR THE JOB THAT THEY ARE DOING IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.
MY IMPRESSIONS ON THE BIG DOCUMENT REALLY BIG.
I GAVE MY RECOMMENDATIONS TO JACKIE AT THE BEGINNING THEY SHOULD ADJUST THE IMAGES. I SAW SOME OF THE ARIAL PICTURES THERE. THEY ARE REALLY HIGH RESOLUTION.
YOU CAN SEE THE LITTLE DETAILS. HAVE HIGH RESOLUTION.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO LEAVE THE DOCUMENT ON THE WEBSITE SHOULD BE PROPER WEIGHT. REGARDING TECHNICAL -- I HAVE TOO MANY COMMENTS AT THIS TIME. I GUESS OUR FIRST MEETING, I LIKE THAT IT PROVIDED THAT. WE SPOKE ABOUT PUBLIC WORKS SOMETHING THAT ARE ALREADY GOING ON.
RELATED TO THIS COMMITTEE. >> SO THEY HAVE A PROGRAM FOR SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT THAT THEY HAVE TO DO IRRESPECTIVE OF THE ADA DOCUMENT. IN ADDITION IF IT IS A LARGE SEGMENT WE HAVE TO REPLACE, WE'LL PROCURE IT OUT FOR A CONTRACTOR TO DO IT. WHAT WE HAVE DONE WITH THIS DOCUMENT SO FAR. WHAT OUR COMMISSIONERS TOLD US TO DO IS BE PROACTIVE. WE HAVE GONE AHEAD AND PROGRAMMED MONEY INTO OUR BUDGET FUNDING FOR SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT. NOW WE HAVE INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO DO IT. IT HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED.
IT IS A PART OF OUR CURRENT FISCAL YEAR BUDGET.
WE ARE DOING THAT ON THE CITY OWNED PROPERTY.
WE CAN TAKE CARE OF OUR FACILITIES.
WE HAVE BEGUN TO DO THAT. >> YOU SPOKE ABOUT WAXAHACHIE.
MOST DANGEROUS ROAD IN THE CITY. LOOKING FOR NOT ONLY MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WHO JUST RECENTLY GOT LICENSED, I CONSIDER MYSELF AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER. SCARED OF ENTERING WAXAHACHIE
[INAUDIBLE] >> I KNOW YOU HAVE HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE. THERE IS AN EARLY WAXAHACHIE PROJECT. IT IS GOING TO BE A TWO-YEAR PROJECT. IT IS A SIX MILE ROADWAY.
START EARLY 2023. PERHAPS WE CAN GO THROUGH AND
[5.B. Discuss any areas not addressed by ADA Transition Plan documents and any areas of personal concern]
[00:30:08]
DISCUSS ANYTHING ELSE YOU THINK NOT ADDRESSED HERE.MAKING SURE YOU ARE HAVING EVERYTHING ACCESSIBLE TO YOU,
I'LL START AGAIN WITH BOB. >> THANK YOU.
>> I HAVE A SPECIAL NEEDS SON 20.
WE HAVE BEEN IN THE CITY A LONG TIME.
20 YEARS. AND TO THE POINTS MADE, A LOT OF THE PROGRAMS WHEN THEY OCCUR IN THE CITY, THERE IS REALLY WE DIDN'T GO TO THE LIBRARY EVER. DIFFICULTY GOING TO THE FARMER'S MARKET. SOLUTIONS HYBRID.
WE HAVE QUITE A FEW KIDS IN WHEELCHAIRS.
WE HAVE KIDS WITH ALL TYPES OF DISABLES.
PLANNING COULD BE HELPFUL. WE HAVE A LOT OF KIDS RUNNERS.
[INAUDIBLE] THAT WOULD BE ALL I HAVE.
>> THAT IS IMPORTANT WE WANT ALL OUR RESIDENTS TO ENJOY WHAT WE
PROVIDE. >> ALSO A FRIEND TOLD ME.
IT IS LIKE WHEN THEY GO TO A NEW PLACE.
SHE WAS SAYING A PLACE WHERE SHE CAN BRING HER SON NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HALLWAY. A SMALL ROOM.
IT IS WITH AUTISM. WHEN MY SON WAS THREE OR FOUR, VERY HESITANT TO TAKE HIM TO NEW PLACES.
FIRST REACTION TO GO IN AND TRY TO ESCAPE, YOU KNOW.
NOW IT IS MANAGEABLE. HE IS FINE.
HER SON WAS. HAVING MORE DIFFICULTY.
THAT WAS A STRUGGLED. EVERYBODY IS WATCHING.
IF THERE IS A SPECIAL ROOM. SMALL AREA.
SHE CAN TAKE HER SON AND CALM HIM DOWN.
LONG WELL WITH PICTURES. PLAYGROUNDS AND STUFF.
THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK UNLESS THEY SEE SOMEBODY.
ANOTHER KID. THEY CAN FIGURE OUT EASIER WITH IMAGES. BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY VISUAL.
>> CITIES UNDERGOING AUTISM-FRIENDLY INITIATIVE.
THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINING OUR CITY EMPLOYEES.
THEY HAVE BEEN SHOWING ESPECIALLY OUR PEOPLE THAT DO PROGRAMMING. ONE OF THE THINGS WE BEGUN
[00:35:02]
PUTTING TOGETHER ARE MAPS OF EVERY ONE OF OUR FACILITIES WITH PICTURES THAT SHOW AREAS LOUD. WE CALL THEM QUIET ZONES.IT IS A QUIET SPACE WE KNOW IT COULD HELP OUT.
WE ARE DOING PICTURES WITH SOME OF OUR PROGRAMS, TOO, SO PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHEN THEY COME TO A CITY FACILITY.
WE BREAK IT DOWN. IT IS A LITTLE MORE UNDERSTOOD OF WHAT THE EXPECTATION IS. DEFINITELY THINGS WE ARE BEING EDUCATED ON. I ENCOUNTER INDIVIDUALS.
I HAVE NOT INTERACTED WITH PEOPLE WITH A CERTAIN KIND OF ISSUE ONE TYPE OR ANOTHER. WITH THESE SORTS OF THINGS.
VERY OBVIOUS IN A LOT OF CASES A LOT OF THOUGHT ISN'T NECESSARILY PUT TOWARDS THAT. IS SOMEONE ON THE STAFF FO FOCUSSING. OUR PROGRAMMERS IN THOSE DEPARTMENTS HAVE BEEN TRAINED AT ANOTHER LEVEL.
BSO INVOLVED IN TRAINING. SRO'S AND ALL OUR DEPUTIES.
YOU NEED SOMEBODY IN EVERY FACILITY TO ASSIST AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE OR BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY WHAT IS GOING ON IN A PROGRAM WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE IMPROVEMENT.
WE HAVE TAKEN A TEAM APPROACH WITH DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS.
THEY ARE MORE LIKELY TO NEED THAT ASSISTANCE.
IMPORTANT FOR ME TO ADJUST IN CHANGE.
THOSE NEED TO BE KICKED FORWARD AND YOU DO THE OUTREACH.
IT IS EASY TO GET COMPLACENT. >> I WOULD ADD.
I WOULD WELCOME YOU TO COME OUT TO OUR EVENTS.
WE START SOCCER NEXT SATURDAY. ANYBODY IS WELCOME TO COME OUT AND MEET OUR KIDS AND SEE THEM INTERACT WITH OUR KIDS.
I THINK IT WOULD BE VALUABLE TO MEET THE KIDS AND SEE HOW THE PROGRAMS FUNCTION IN REAL LIFE AND APPLICATIONS OF THAT.
ADDITIONAL CITY OWNED LAND PRETTY BIG PROJECT JUST PASSED THE LOAN. I WANT TO MAKE SURE.
[00:40:04]
WE TAKE THE FEEDBACK YOU GET FROM THESE SITUATIONS.WHEN THOSE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIODS GO FORWARD PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO GET THE FEEDBACK. RETROFITTING.
AS WE GET INTO THE CITY OWNED PROPERTIES.
JUST ENCOURAGE MORE OF THIS TYPE OF OUTREACH GETS DONE.
>> I WANT TO PIGGYBACK ON WHAT I AM SAYING.
IT IS FANTASTIC YOU ARE WORKING WITH -- I HAVE AN ADULT SON WITH AUTISM. THE LIBRARY, THE YOUNG KIDS.
[6. Additional Comments from the Group]
>> ANYTHING ELSE DANIEL? >> I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE EVERYBODY TO THE SOCCER. WE ARE GOING TO DO IT THROUGH THE WEBSITE OR E-MAILS. IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEND AN E-MAIL TO THE CITY? THERE IS, I RECEIVED E-MAILS
FROM THE CITY. >> I CAN SEND AN E-MAIL.
I'LL TELL EVERYBODY WHEN OUR OPENING DAY IS THE 6TH, I THINK.
SATURDAY, I AM NOT SURE EXACT TIME.
USUALLY KIDS ARRIVE AROUND 3:15. I'LL SEND AN E-MAIL OUT TO EVERYBODY. I CAN SHOW YOU ABOUT THE PROGRAM
AND TAKE IT FROM THERE. >> THANK YOU FOR THAT.
I WOULD LIKE TO ADD CHILDREN RIDING BIKES.
RULES DON'T MILES. WE DON'T USE THE BIKE LANE.
IS THERE A BETTER PLAN THAN THAT?
>> THAT ROADWAY, PARK SIDE DRIVE SOME WHAT LIMITED IN THE AMOUNT OF REAL ESTATE YOU HAVE ON THE ROADWAY ITSELF IF YOU NOTICED THE GREEN SPACE. WE DID TAKE A LOOK AT POTENTIAL BIKE LANE FROM AN ENGINEERING STANDPOINT SO RESTRICTIVE IN CERTAIN AREAS HARD TO MAKE A CONTINUOUS PATH.
IT IS DIFFICULT FOR THE AMOUNT OF REAL ESTATE.
>> HILLSBOROUGH HAS JUST PARTIAL.
I THINK IT IS BIG ENOUGH. >> HILLSBOROUGH BOULEVARD THAT IS GOING TO BE IN CONSIDERATION AS PART OF THEIR PROCESS.
[00:45:03]
SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS AND ADA IMPROVEMENTS.THEY ARE PROPOSING A ROUND ABOUT TO HELP WITH TRAFFIC FLOW.
THAT WOULD -- SLOWING THE ROADS DOWN GENERALLY.
A LOT OF THESE ROADS ARE 40 MILES AN HOUR BIKE ROADS.
ONLY BUT THE MOST COMMITTED ROAD BIKERS ARE GOING TO USE IT.
IT IS NOT AN OPEN FACILITY FOR A LOT OF THE OF PEOPLE.
FOCUSSING ON A ROAD DESIGN. ROUND ABOUTS ARE GREAT.
I LOVE THEM. >> RIGHT, ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL COMMENTS FROM ANYONE ELSE IN THE GROUP?
[7. Additional Comments from Staff]
>> I WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROCESS.
THIS IS UNIQUE. THIS IS MY FIRST GO AT DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS. WE ARE DOING THIS TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME. I THINK OUR WORK PRODUCT IN THE END IS GOING TO BE GREATLY IMPROVED BY THIS INTERACTION.
SOME SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO HEAR FROM FOLKS UTILIZING THESE FACILITIES TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT. >> I'LL SECOND THAT, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS IN REVIEWING WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR. WE WANT TO TAKE THESE RECOMMENDATIONS AND REVIEW THEM AND PUT THEM AS CONSIDERATIONS FOR OUR CITY COMMISSION. THEN MOVING FORWARD ONCE WE HAVE ADA TRANSITION PLAN LOOKING TO YOU AS BEING GOOD AMBASSADORS AND SPREADING THE WORD THROUGH THE COMMUNITY AND MAKE EVERYTHING WE HAVE AS ACCESSIBLE AS POSSIBLE.
THANK YOU AGAIN AND FOR SHARING. I KNOW IT IS NOT EASY TO SHARE PERSONAL STORIES. I THINK WHEN YOU DO THAT, IT HAS A LOT OF IMPACT. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING WITH US. I GUESS WE CAN
