[1. Call to Order]
[00:00:06]
>> GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE. IT'S 6 P.M. SO I'M GOING TO CALL TO ORDER THE CITY OF PARKLAND PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD. COULD I HAVE EVERYONE STAND FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.
>> THANK YOU. ROLL CALL PLEASE.
>> BRIAN HEARLZ, HERE. KEVIN FINKELSTEIN, HERE.
SANDRA SCHROUDER, HERE. DAVID GOTT, HERE.
HOWARD WYNER, HERE. LEO GORDON, HERE.
KYNON MONROE CODRINGTON. HERE.
>> WELCOME TO THE MEETING, I APPRECIATE YOU BEING HERE.
[4. Approval of Minutes]
WE HAVE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES. I NEED A MOTION AND SECOND.>> WE HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE. >> AND I'LL SECOND.
>> SECOND. ALL IN FAVOR? THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES IS UNANIMOUS.
THANK YOU. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC?
[6. Comments from Staff]
ANYONE? OKAY, MOVING ON TO COMMENTS FROM STAFF. WE'LL START OFF WITH TODD DEAAANGELIS. >> TODD DE ANGELIS.
REQUIRES WE CONVENE A COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER PROPOSED OPTIONS AND WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THAT.
AND THE COMMITTEE THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY CONVENING THE POLICY DICTATES HAS A REPRESENTATIVE FROM EACH OF THE CITY'S ADVISORY BOARDS ON THE COMMITTEE. BY MAKING THIS PRENGTSD TO EACH OF OUR ADVISORY BOARDS AND OUR RECOMMENDATION IS THAT IT WOULD BE THE CHAIR WHO WOULD BE THE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE COMMITTEE, AS FAR AS TIME INVESTMENT WE'RE LOOKING AT AN INITIAL MEETING OF ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF TO TWO HOURS.
SHOULD A FOLLOW-UP MEETING BE REQUIRED WE'RE THINKING MAYBE 30 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. ONCE THE COMMITTEE'S TASK IS COMPLETE IS COMMITTEE DOES SUNSET, SO THERE'S NO LONG TERM COMMITMENT, THOUGH WE MAY BE MAKING THIS REQUEST AGAIN, THERE'S NO SUSTAINED COMMITMENT. SO THAT'S THE LONG AND SHORT OF
IT. >> WELL, I'M HAPPY TO HELP.
THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE ON THIS BOARD TO ALL OF YOU AND YOUR VOLUNTEER SPIRIT FROM WHICH THE CITY BENEFITS.
NEXT UP TO DISCUSS THE ADA SURVEY IS JACKIE WEHMEYER.
>> GOOD EVENING, I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT THE A DFERLTA SURVEY WE HAVE OUT ON THE CITY'S WEBSITE, IN ACCORDANCE TO TITLE 2 OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT, THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS THAT OUR ORGANIZATION NEEDS TO DID TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE PROVIDING ACCESSIBLE SERVICES AND PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES FOR OUR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS.
AND AS PART OF THAT, WE NEED TO DO AN ADA TRANSITION PLAN.
SO THAT'S TAKING A LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE THINGS THAT THE CITY HAS AND PROVIDES, AND ENSURE THAT THEY ARE ACCESSIBLE TO OUR RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES AS POSSIBLE.
AND PART OF THAT IS A SURVEY AND TALKING TO OUR RESIDENTS AND FINDING OUT THEIR THOUGHTS AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY AREAS THAT THEY FEEL WE NEED IMPROVEMENT UPON AND THAT GETS PUT INTO OUR TRANSITION PLAN ALONG SEVERAL OTHER THINGS.
BUT WHAT I WANTED TO ASK FOR TONIGHT WAS YOUR ASSISTANCE AND YOUR GOINGS ABOUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND YOUR NEIGHBORS JUST TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO COME TO THE WEBSITE AND PROVIDE US WITH SOME INPUT. BECAUSE THE MORE INPUT THAT WE RECEIVE, THEN THE BETTER WE CAN MAKE OUR RESIDENTS' LIVES.
SO THAT'S ALL MY ASK IS TONIGHT. THANK YOU.
>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH. >> I HAVE A QUESTION.
HOW LONG IS THE SURVEY OPEN FOR? >> IT SHOULD BE OPEN UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH. AND IT'S JUST ABOUT EIGHT OR NINE QUESTIONS. SO IT PROBABLY TAKES LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES TO COMPLETE. YOU'RE WELCOME.
[00:05:02]
I BELIEVE HE HAS, USUALLY FOR THINGS LIKE SURVEYS WE HAVE A LOT OF REPEAT AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO ENSURE THAT IT IS COVERED INEVERY WAY POSSIBLE. >> THAT WAY WE CAN SHARE THE
THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
[7. Comments by the Chair and Board]
OKAY MOVING ON TO COMMENTS BY THE CHAIR AN THE BOARD.I'VE JUST GOT A COUPLE OF THINGS.
ROBERT BRANNEN COULDN'T MAKE IT HERE THIS EVENING, FOR A CONGRATULATORY MANNER, HIS DAUGHTER IS GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE. WE WANT TO CONGRATULATE THE DAUGHTER AND HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS AND ALSO IT'S PUBLIC SERVICE WEEK AND I WANT TO SAY AND EXTEND MY THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT WORKS FOR THE CITY AND HELPS EVERYTHING MOVING ALONG SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
THAT'S ALL I HAVE. ANYTHING FROM THE OTHER BOARD
MEMBERS? >> I THINK GOING OFF THE PUBLIC SERVICE WEEK IT'S ALSO SMALL BUSINESS WEEK SO THAT'S IMPORTANT FOR THE CITY TO ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER TO FOCUS ON
>> SORRY ONE MORE THING TOO. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK BRIAN FOR AN EXCELLENT SOFT BALL SEASON. THE FIELDS WERE GREAT.
GIRLS HAD A GREAT TIME SO THANK YOU BRIAN.
[8. Approval of the Agenda]
>> MOVING ON. APPROVAL OF TONIGHT'S AGENDA.
>> I'LL SECOND THAT. >> ALL THOSE IN FAVOR, ALL RIGHT, THE MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY.
[9. New Business]
OKAY. MOVING ON TO NEW BUSINESS.PARKS AND REC GENERAL UPDATE. >> GOOD EVENING EVERYBODY.
CHRISTINE YAH, PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR.
CITY OF PARKLAND DID ISSUE AN ORDER ON APRIL 21ST THAT ISSUED THE BAERER COUNTY ACTIVITY MOTION.
OUR GROUP SIZES ARE NO LONGER RESTRICTED TO BE TEN WHILE OUTSIDE, BUT SOCIAL DISTANCE BEING WHEN YOU ARE NOT PHYSICALLY EXERCISING. THE NEW EMERGENCY ORDER STILL REQUIRES THE FACIAL COVERINGS WHEN YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SOCIAL DISTANCE OUTSIDE. AND BAHRER COUNTY CONTINUES TO MONITOR THE METRICS. THEY'LL GO AHEAD AND CONTINUE TO REMOVE MORE RECOLLECTIONS AS WE GO THROUGH THIS PROCESS.
IT DID STATE THAT WHEN 50% OF OUR COUNTIES ADULTS HAVE AT LEAST ONE VACCINATION SHOT AND THE TEST POSITIVITY RATE IS LESS THAN 5% ON A, ROLLING AVERAGE, THE STATE WILL CONSIDER REMOVING REQUIREMENTS ALTOGETHER. ADDITIONAL FOIRKS OUT FROM THE GOVERNOR, SO FORTH, WE'LL HAVE TO STAY CLOSELY CONNECTED REGARDING THE NEW ORDERS ROLLED OUT BY MANY BRYER COUNTY.
WE'LL CONTINUE TO MOVE IN ORDER WITH OUR EVENTS AND SO FORTH.
JUST SOME REMINDERS ON SOME UPCOMING MEETING DATES.
NEXT COMMISSION MEETING WILL.MAY 5TH, MAY NEABT HE, JUNE 2 AND JUNE 16. WORKSHOP ON BUDGET WILL BE AUGUST 18TH, FINAL HEARING ON SEPTEMBER 26TH, OUR NEXT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING WILL BE JULY 19TH.
PLEASE REMEMBER IT IS THE THIRD MONDAY OF THAT MONTH, NOT THE FIRST MONDAY. I WANTED TO ALSO TOUCH BASE AND FOLLOW UP WITH SOME OF THE COMMENTS THAT WERE MADE IN REGARDS TO PARK MAINTENANCE AND SOME OF THOSE GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING THINGS THAT WE COULD TAKE A LOOK AT AND SO FORTH. WHAT WE'RE DOING AS A DEPARTMENT AND WORKING CLOSER WITH PUBLIC WORKS IS WE'RE MEETING OUT AT THE PARKS, WALKING THROUGH, ACTUALLY PAYING ATTENTION BEING ANOTHER SET OF YEARS SO FORTH FOR OUR PARK MAINTENANCE TEAM AND THESE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS THEY HAVE BENT WORKING HARD.
I'M HAPPY TO SAY AT THE PARK THEY TRIMMED THE TREES BACK TO
[00:10:05]
ADDRESS THE LIGHTING ON FIELD FIVE.PICNIC TABLES BY THE CONCESSION STAND HAVE BEEN REPATE PAINTED.
THE DUGOUTS HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP.
OVER AT THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER THEY REPLACED ALL THE FANS OUT THERE, ON THE JUDGING TOWERS WERE REPAINTED, THE TILE WERE ALL REDONE AND REFURBISHED. THE LATTICE WORK WAS CLEENGD UP AND REPLACED. THE HORSESHOE CONCRETE BENCH AREA AND NICE MEMORY AREA WAS FIXED.
THE BLEACHER OVERHANGS WERE RESTAINED.
OVER AT BARKLAND THE DOGGIE STATIONS WERE REPLACED, OUR PRESSURED CLEANED AND REPAINTED OVER THERE AS WELL.
THE WOOD BASE AROUND THE FENCE TO PREVENT THE DOGS FROM GETTING UP UNDERNEATH THE FENCE WAS ALL DONE THROUGHOUT PARK AND NEW LIDS FOR THE GARBAGE CANS WERE ALSO DONE AND TAKEN CARE OF.
OVER AT DISORRIST DAVIS THEY WENT AHEAD AND ADJUSTED THE GATES, THEY PRESSURE CLEANED A FEW MONTHS BACK BUT IT LOOKS GOOD AND THEY TRIMMED UP THE TREES AND THROUGHOUT THAT PARK.
ALSO JUST ON A SIDE NOTE, WE ARE GOING TO BE REPLACING OUR BACK BOARDS. SO OVER AT TARAMAR PARK COURTS 1, 2 AND 3 THEY'RE GOING TO BE REPLACED, SO WE ARE GOING TO CLOSE THOSE COURTS MAY 6TH AND 7TH, THE OTHER TWO WILL REMAIN OPEN AND PINE TRAILS WILL REMAIN OPEN AT THAT TIME.
THEY WILL MOVE OVER TO PINE TRAILS AND REPLACE COURTS 1 AND 2 OVER THERE, THE OTHER COURTS WILL BE PROJECTED AND FOR FUTURE YEARS NEXT FISCAL YEAR AND BEYOND ACCORDING TO OUR
REPLACEMENT SCHEDULE. >> SECOND BULLET ON THAT SLIDE SAID SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU SAID, I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE IT'S CLEAR. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR A MASK AS LONG AS YOU ARE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
THIS SAYS -- >> IF YOU CAN'T MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING YOU WOULD BE REQUIRED.
IF YOU ARE IN A CROWDED AREA, IF TO OTHER PARENTS, YOU WILL HAVE TO WEAR YOUR FACIAL COVERING. IS THAT CLEAR? OKAY. SO FOR OUR SPECIAL EVENTS YES WE ARE ROLLING OUT AND BEEN ROLLING OUT.
WE WERE ABLE TO FINISH UP OUR FARMERS MARKET BURDEN IN MARCH WE HAD TWO FARMERS MARKETS WITH ABOUT 1400 VEHICLES AND SEVERAL SPONSORING THERE MORRISED ON THE SLIDE IN FRONT OF YOU.
WE DID ROLL OUT OUR EATS AND BEATS WITH OUR WILDFIRE BAN ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EVENT WITH ABOUT A THOUSAND SPECTATORS THERE. AND THEN WE DID OUR MOVIES IN THE PARK WHERE WE SHOWED ONWARD AND THERE WAS ABOUT 200 SPECTATORS THERE AND THE SPONSORS ARE LISTED AS WELL WHICH WE GREATLY APPRECIATE FOR US TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO ROLL OUT THESE EVENTS. AND THEN IN APRIL, OUR FINAL FARMERS MARKET WAS ON APRIL 25TH.
I HAVE TO SAY WE BROKE OUR RECORD AGAIN TWICE THIS YEAR NOW, WITH 3398 VEHICLES. IT WAS OBEAUTIFUL DAY AND IT WAS THE LAST ONE OF THE SEASON SO WE HAD A LOT OF PARTICIPATION AND THAT WAS GOOD TO SEE. WE ALSO DID OUR DRIVE IN EXTRAVAGANZA. STILL TRYING TO COME OUT OF THE COVID, WE RETROFITTED TO BE ABLE TO DO MORE OF A DRIVE THROUGH.
THEY WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THROUGH, GET EXHIBITS, GET A VARIETY OF CANDY AND GO WATCH A MOVIE. WE HAVE SOME UPCOMING EVENTS WHICH ONE ALREADY PASSED BUS ON THIS FAST SATURDAY WE DID HAVE OUR SHANE DUNNIGAN BAND WITH OVER 1100 PARTICIPANTS AT THAT EVENT. SO IT'S SHOWING.
PEOPLE WANT TO GO OUT AND PARTICIPATE AND BE A PART.
I HAVE TO SAY I'M VERY HAPPY OUR RESIDENTS ARE DOING THINGS IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. THEY ARE COMING OUT, ADHERING TO THE SOCIAL DISTANCE CIRCLES, FINDING THEIR PODS WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND ENJOY THE EVENTS SO WE ARE HAPPY WITH THAT.
WE WILL BE ROLLING OUT A MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY OVER AT PINE TRAILS AMPHITHEATER. THIS WILL BE ON SUNDAY, THE DAY BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY AND IT WILL BEGIN AT 5:30.
WE WERE ACTUALLY LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THE ARMY BAND COME OUT AND BE A PART OF THIS YEAR'S EVENT SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED FOR THAT. IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT IMPACT.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO COME OUT AND JOIN US FOR MEMORIAL DAY. AS WE GO THROUGH THE SUMMER WE'LL CONTINUE WITH OUR EATS AND BEATS.
WE'LL HAVE ONE ON JUNE 5TH, TYPICALLY JUNE, JULY, AUGUST IT WILL BE THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH.
SAW DAVIS AND THE BLACK TIES AND WE'LL START UP OUR FISHING
[00:15:03]
DERBIES THAT ARE WELL ATTENDED. SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ABLE TO BE ADHERED DURING THIS EVENT, FIRST ONE WILL BE JUNE 12TH OVER AT PINE TRAILS AND OUT BY THE FISHING REPAIR PIER FROM 8 .COMMISSIONER CUTLER LOVES THOSE. THE FOURTH SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH WE'LL CONTINUE TO DO OUR MOVIES IN THE PARK THROUGH OUR SUMMER, AND THE FIRST ONE WILL BE MONA WE'LL BE SHOWING.
WE ARE ALSO ISSUING OUT MORE AND MORE SPECIAL EVENT PERMITS.
MSC SPECIAL DRIVING EVENT, THEY WERE HAPPY TO PARTICIPATE IN A DRIVE IN MOVIE. COASTAL COMMUNITY CHURCH DID A SERVICE, PLANTD ASSOCIATION, , PARKLAND ASSOCIATIONWILL BE DW SEASON FOR YEAR. CAREGIVER CEREMONY ALSO TOOK PLACE ON APRIL 24TH. IT WAS REALLY GREAT, YOU KNOW THE COMMITTEE WAS VERY EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO DO AN EVENT.
A LOT OF THE EVENTS AROUND THE AREA WERE CANCELLED FOR RELAY FOR LIFE SO IT WAS SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO REACH OUT AND DO A DRIVE IN CEREMONY.
THIS PAST WEEKEND WE ALSO HAD NOVA DO A RESEARCH PROJECT, THEY SAID THEY WOULD SHARE SOME RESULTS WITH US IN REGARDS TO THAT. ABOUT LIKE I SAID THE PARKLAND HORSE MEN'S ASSOCIATION WILL BE THEIR LAST SHOW FOR THE SEASON.
M SMPTC BABDING IS PLANNING ON HAVING THEIR BANQUET ON MAY THE 21ST. THE GRADUATION PARADE IS SCHEDULED TO BE JUNE THE 5TH SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GUYS ARE AWARE OF THAT. ROADS WILL BE CLOSED.
THE PARADE DOES START AT 9 A.M. BUT SOCIAL MEDIA WILL BE SENDING OUT INFORMATION AND WILL BE REACHING OUT TO HOAS IN THE AREA SO EVERYONE CAN BE AWARE OF THAT.
THERE IS A WALKOFF FOR CANCER SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 14TH AND OUR FOURTH ANNUAL MAKE OUR SCHOOL SAFE TOURNAMENT ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER LATER ON THIS YEAR. NOW I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO SCOTT OUR MANAGER FOR OUR PROGRAMS.
>> SCOTT HARRISON PARKS AND RECREATION MANAGER.
SUMMER CAMP OUR CONTRACTED SUMMER CAMPS OF CAMPS, DANCE IS FULL, NO MORE ROOM, ALL THE OTHER CAMPS HAVE TEN TO 20 LEFT THOSE FOR OUR CONTRACTORS THAT ARE BEING HELD AT THE P REC.
OUR CITY CAMP, WE HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THE SCHOOLS REACHING OUT TO THE PRPRINCIPALS A WHILE NOW.
TEEN CAMP WE'RE RUNNING IT LIKE LAST YEAR, AT WEST GLADES, ENROLLMENT HAS BEEN GOOD FOR THAT.
KIDS CAMP, WE ARE STILL WORKING WITH PARK TRAILS SO WE WILL BE HOLDING THAT AT PARK TRAILS. THAT WILL BE COMING OUT SOMETIME NEXT WEEK HOPEFULLY AND THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE 30 ENROLLED ALREADY AND WE'RE GOING TO BE PULLING FROM THE WAIT LIST ONCE WE GET THAT SECURED AT PARK TRAILS AND THEN AS PART OF THAT IS A SUMMER ACADEMY HALF DAY CAMP.
SO AS SOME OF YOU MAY BE AWARE THE SUMMER SCHOOLS, THE SCHOOLS ARE GOING TO BE OFFERING SUMMER SCHOOLS WHICH WILL BE HALF DAY.
SO PART OF THAT WHEN THEY'RE DONE WITH THAT SUMMER SCHOOL WILL BE OFFERIG A HALF DAY PORTION FOR THEM AT THOSE SCHOOLS. NOW HERON HEIGHTS IS WHERE THE ELEMENTARY KIDS WILL BE. CURRENTLY BEFORE WE ROLL THAT OUT WE'RE WORKING WITH THE DISTRICT ON HOW THAT'S GOING TO WORK HOW THEY ARE GOING TO TRANSPORT THE DIODES PARK TRAILS. WE HAVE TO SOLIDIFY REGARDING THAT. WE HAVE STARTED WAIT MORRISES BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF CALLINGS AND HEIGHTS KIND OF KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON AND WE'RE WORKING OUT THE DETAILS OF IT. OUR SUMMER ENRICHMENT CLASSES STARTED TODAY, THEY WILL BE WORKED AROUND THE AVAILABILITY WE HAVE OUTSIDE OF SUMMER CAMP AFTER SIX O'CLOCK ON AND ON THE WEEKENDS. THE SENIOR PROGRAMS WE ARE STILL GOING THROUGH THE CAN DRIVE THROUGH ART KIDS MONTHLY.
WE LICK AFFILIATENESS CLASSES AND THEN WE ALSO DO CAN CLASSES MONTHLY, REGULARLY. WE ARE STATING TO GET IN FROM THE RESPONSES AND ANSWERS, THERE HAVE BEEN SOME STUFF THAT HAVE COME BACK IN REGARDS TO OTHER PROGRAMMING FOR SENIORS AND SOME OF THAT ARE, WE ARE ROLLING OUT THIS MONTH IS LIKE A TEA TALK, KIND OF COME IN AND SIT DOWN WITH OUR YOUTH PROGRAM
[00:20:01]
SPECIALISTS AND JUST CORM UP WITH OTHER IDEAS, THINGS THEY WANT TO SEE DONE SO WE CAN START TO ROLL THOSE OUT FOR THEM.AND THEN IN REGARDS TO THAT STARTING IN JUNE WE WILL BE GETTING BACK INTO THOSE TRIPS. PRECOVID WE STOPPED THOSE TRIPS BUT NOW FOLLOWING ALL THE CDC REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE. CLASSES AND PROGRAMS, MENTIONED THAT CITIZENS SURVEY, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT CAME BACK FROM THE CITIZENS SURVEY. A LOT OF THE RESPONSES ON THERE WERE THINGS WE ARE ALREADY DOING.
GETTING THAT COMMUNICATION OUT WE ARE STARTING TO SHOWCASE A SPECIFIC PROGRAM. KINDS OF THAT'S BEEN IN THE CITIZENS SURVEY THAT WE HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOING ON A WEEKLY BASIS, GOING OUT IN THAT E-MAIL BLAST ON THURSDAYS.
BUT OUR FINISH PROGRAMS WE DID TWEAK THAT A LITTLE BIT.
PART OF WHAT CAME BACK WAS NIGHT CLASSES, THEY WANTED TO SEE NIGHT CLASSES FOR THE FITNESS PORTION.
WE DO HAVE RESTORATIVE YOGA, MONDAY NIGHT FROM 6 TO 7.
WE MADE THAT TO CAPITALIZE ON PARENTS BEING THERE, ONE OF OUR BUSIEST DAYS AT THE P REC. WE WANT TO LET THE PARENTS KNOW WE HAVE THOSE CLASSES GOING ON. FIBLG BALL IS STILL TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, SAME TIMES THEY'VE ALWAYS BEEN, THAT AGAIN WE'RE LOOKING AT POSSIBLY DOING A NIGHT CLASS IF WE HAVE IT OR A NIGHT OPEN PICKLE BALL.
SUMMER IT DOES GO AWAY DURING THE WEEK BECAUSE WE DO HAVE SUMMER CAMP SO THERE HAS A BEEN A WHY FROM THE PICKLE BALL PEOPLE WANTING SOMETHING AT NIGHT SO WE'RE LOOKING AT THAT.
CLASSES BASED ON CITIZENS SURVEY WE'RE LOOKING AT NEW PROGRAMMING BEING ADULT CLASSES E-GAMING AND MONTHLY TEAM NIGHT.
E-GAMING IT'S A PRETTY COOL CONCEPT SO WE MIGHT BE JUMPING INTO THAT SOON. MONTHLY TEAM NIGHT WE'RE LOOKING AT MAYBE STARTING IN JUNE AND HAVE A KIND OF EITHER THE SECOND THIRD FOURTH FRIDAY OF THE MONTH ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS, LIKE THE FOURTH FRIDAY OF A MONTH, TWO-HOUR, THREE-HOUR THING, OR OUTSIDE, 5:30 TO 7:30 OR 8:30 OR SIMG LIKE THAT.
TEENAGER KIDS BEING THE 12 TO 17 YEAR AGE TO KIND OF GET MORE INVOLVED. AND THE OTHER THING WE DO HAVE A PROJECT THAT'S APPROVED, THE P REC FLOORING, THE FLOORING IN THE P REC WILL BE REPLACED. WE'RE LOOKING AT COORDINATING WHEN THAT WILL BE DONE, LOOKING LIKE IT WILL BE DONE AFTER THE SUMMER. WE'LL ASK THE CONTRACTOR, BASICALLY ALL OF THE HALLWAYS OF THE P REC AND THEN ON THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM 1 THROUGH 4 SIDE AND ALL THE OFFICES WILL BE A MORE MODERN LOOKING COMMERCIAL GRADE FLOORING THAT WILL BE 100% SCRATCH PROOF AND WATERPROOF AND EVERYTHING.
AND THEN BRUNO WILL COMING UP. >> GOOD EVENING EVERYONE.
BRUNO BATEL, OVERSEEING THE ATHLETICS SIDE.
SO THE MONTHS OF MARCH AND APRIL FOR GIRLS S SOFTBALL, 124 PARTICIPANTS. GIRLS SOFTBALL JUST ENDED THIS PAST WEEKEND. WE DO HAVE TRAVEL SOFTBALL FOR THE GIRLS STILL GOING ON. LITTLE LEAGUE COMING ON IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, 360 PARTICIPANTS IN THE PROGRAM.
TRAVEL SOCCER 369 PARTICIPANTS. LACROSSE, THEY JUST ENDED THIS WEEKEND AS WELL. RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO THEY HAD 640 PARTICIPANTS.
TRAVEL BASEBALL STILL GOING ON, THEY ARE CURRENTLY GOING TO PLAYOFFS AND THEY HAVE ABOUT 148 PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR PROGRAM.
THE TENNIS LEAGUES WE STILL HAVE THE USDA, THERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK NOW, STILL HAVE THEM COMING ON BUT COME THIS SUMMER IT'S GOING TO GET BUSY AGAIN. 19 LEAGUES, 886 PARTICIPANTS CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING. TENNIS LESSONS THE ADULTS, 362 LESSONS AND 221 PARTICIPANTS IN THOSE LESSONS.
THAT NUMBER HAS BEEN STEADILY RISING, ROB NICHOLS HAS DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH THE PROGRAM.
WE RECENTLY JUST RENEWED HIS CONTRACT AS OF MAY 1ST SO HE WILL BE WITH US FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS WITH AN ADDITIONAL TWO YEARS TO ADD ONTO IT. THRECTS UPDATE, WE HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF WORK, REMOVED THE WEED BARRIER, REGRADED THE INFIELD AND ALSO ADDED A CONDITIONER TO FIELD C.
WE CORRECTED THE MOUND HEIGHT AT PINE TRAILS.
[00:25:03]
THE MOUND WAS A LITTLE HIGH SO KIDS WERE HAVING A LITTLE BIT OF A HARD TIME, IT WAS FOR OF A RAMP THAN A MOUND.WE ADDED FIELD CONDITIONER TO ALL FIELDS EXCEPT FIELD 2 AND 3, WHICH WILL BE COMING UP FOR OUR PROJECTS AS YOU GUYS ARE AWARE.
CONDITIONER WILL BE ADDED TO THOSE FIELDS ONCE THOSE CAPITAL PROJECTS ARE COMPLETED. REQUEST IN A COUPLE OF OUR LEAGUES ASKED TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL PLAYABILITY.
SO THE DRAIN WILL STAY IN PLACE, WITHOUT THE GRADE WE BATTLED OVER THE YEARS. BASKETBALL, TENNIS COURTS, SOMETHING NICER OUT THERE, HONESTLY WE NEEDED TO UPDATE THOSE SIGNS. EVERYTHING IS UP AND GOOD.
REPLACED ALL COURT LIGHTING, BIG IMPROVEMENT THAT WE MADE.
WE HAD A COUPLE OF CALLS FROM OUR MEMBERS ASKING US ABOUT THE LIGHTING SO WE DID A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH AND WE REPLACED ALL THE BULBS. EVER SINCE WE REPLACED IT WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANY COMPLAINTS. EVERYBODY IS EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT. WE PERFORMED ALL THE LEGS OF THE STATUS OF THE PROJECTS, FIELDS 6 AND 9 AT PINE TRAILS, BEGAN SCHEDULING DURING THIS CAPITAL PROJECT.
WE SENT THE LETTER TO RECREATIONAL LACROSSE ABOUT THE DOWNWARD TREND OF RESIDENT NUMBERS AND COMPLIED WITH THE RESIDENT NONRESIDENT POLICY, SOFTBALL JUST ON THIS PAST SATURDAY AS WELL. ANY QUESTIONS? OUR POLICY REQUIRES THAT OUR PROGRAMS BE AT 90% RESIDENCY AND RECREATIONAL LACROSSE IS BLOW THAT.
>> THANK YOU. >> ARE WE GOING TO GO INTO TALKING ABOUT POLICY OR -- WITH THE TASK GROUP?
>> YES. >> I'D LIKE TO MAKE A COMMENT IF POSSIBLE. THANK YOU.
I KNOW I CAME IN HERE LAST TIME IT WAS LIKE A LAUNDRY LIST OF ITEMS. AND I CAN'T THANK YOU GUYS ENOUGH FOR NOT ALLOWING THAT TO GO ON DEAF EARS AND ACTUALLY MAKING SURE SOME OF THOSE WERE LITTLE TWEAKS, SOME WERE BIGGER PROJECTS. AND, OU KNOW, WE AS RESIDENTS HAVE AN EXPECTATION, WE ARE PARKLAND.
AND ALL THOSE LITTLE THINGS REALLY DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
SO WE LIVE IN A BEAUTIFUL CITY AND I LOVE THE FACT THAT WE TAKE PRIDE IN IT AND ARE CONTINUING TO MAINTAIN IT.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING SURE THOSE LITTLE PROJECTS
I CAN'T TAKE ALL THE CREDIT. WE WORK HARD WITH PUBLIC WORKS.
HOPEFULLY IT'S NOTICED OUT THERE.
>> FOR SURE. >> AND WE'LL CONTINUE THAT PROCESS AND CONTINUE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THEM LIKE I EXPLAINED AT THE BEGINNING SO I APPRECIATE.
>> I DO HAVE A QUESTION OR COMMENT.
THE PAST FEW WEEKS, THE SEASONS ARE WINDING DOWN, SOFTBALL'S DONE AND LITTLE LEAGUE WILL BE INDEPENDENTING BLUT THE PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE AND A LOT OF RESIDENTS HAVE BEEN GETTING TICKETS. THEY'VE BEEN COMING TO ME ON THE FIELDS, I DIDN'T KNOW, THERE IS A LATE FEE AFTER TEN DAYS.
SO YOU'RE GETTING TICKETED THEN YOU HAVE TEN DAYS TO PAY IT.
AND WITH THE OVERLAP WITH THE TIMES IN THE MORNING I MEAN THE FIELDS, I LEFT THIS WEEKEND AND LITERALLY THERE WAS CARS PARKED EVERYWHERE. SO QULON WHAT I DON'T KNOW WHAN TO PEOPLE, AS THE LEAGUES PICK UP MOMENTUM WE WANT MORE KIDS TO
PLAY. >> SO WE UNDERSTAND THAT THAT PARK ITSELF IN REGARDS TO PARKING, IS SOME OF THE PARKING CONCERNS. ONE OF THE THINGS WE NEED TO MAKE SURE IS IT LIFE SAFETY AS WELL AS ADA ACCESSIBILITY AND SO AND SOME OF THESE OTHER AREAS OUTSIDE OF THE PARK.
WE HAVE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS THAT ARE ALL TRYING TO PULL OUT OF THEIR COMMUNITIES SAFELY AND TRAVEL DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACCESSING THE SIDEWALKS. AND SO WE DO, AND BSO DOES WORK AND UNDERSTAND THE MAGNITUDE OF THE PROGRAMMING.
BUT IF ANYBODY ARE TO EITHER CREATE A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE OR BLOCK THOSE SIDEWALKS THEN YES, THE TICKETS WILL BE ISSUED.
FROM MY UNDERSTANDING REGARDS TO THIS PAST WEEKEND, YES, IT WAS CRUDDED BECAUSE THERE WAS A LOT OF ACTIVITY GOING ON.
WE'RE NOT EXPECTING THAT. EVERY WEEKEND OBVIOUSLY WE'RE HAVING WORK DONE AT PINE TRAILSK TOGETHER IN REGARDS TO ADDRESSING THAT ISSUE AND CONCERN.
I KNOW BRUNO IS REACHING OUT TO ALL THE PLEEGZ AND PRESIDENTS AND SO FORTH AND REALLY TRY TO REITERATE TO THE PARTICIPANTS, DON'T BLOCK THE SIDEWALKS, DON'T BLOCK LIFE SAFETY ISSUES THINGS OF THAT NATURE BE AWARE OF WHERE YOU'RE PARKING THAT TYPE OF THING. BUT TO ALSO ADDRESS FUTURE CONCERNS WE DO HAVE A PROJECT IN THIS YEAR'S BUDGET THAT WILL BE
[00:30:02]
ROLLING OUT DESIGN WORK SHORTLY IS A PARK EXPANSION FOR THAT PARK. WE'RE LOOKING AT EXPANDING FIELDS C AND D TO FULL REGULATION SIZE AND PART OF THAT PROJECTS ALSO INCLUDES ADDING ADDITIONAL PARKING.IT IS SO THERE WILL BE SOME OF THOSE FIELDS THIS WILL BE AFFECTED BECAUSE AS YOU EXPAND THE FIELD IT WILL IMPEDE UPON THAT. BUT WE'LL TRY TO MAXIMIZE THE ADDITIONAL PARKING TO ADD ADDITIONAL INSIDE THE PARK IN
>> ON SATURDAY MORNINGS, JUST A QUESTION, WITH SOFTBALL I'M --
I'M NOT SURE (INAUDIBLE). >> A WE'VE HAD THAT CONVERSATION. I'LL COMPLETE YOU ANSWER.
>> I SPOKE AND REACHED OUT THIS PAST WEEKEND DUE TO THE PARKING.
I-9 HAS ACTUALLY DOUBLED THEIR NUMBERS, THE HIGHEST THEY'VE EVER BEEN.% WE'LL DEFINITELY HAVE TO MOVE THE PROGRAM OVER TO PINE TRAIL. I CAN TELL YOU THAT OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS EVERYTHING IS WINDING DOWN AND I REALLY DIDN'T EXPECT ANYTHING LIKE WE HAD THIS PAST WEEKEND THERE.
BUT WE ARE -- YES. (INAUDIBLE).
>> THEY'VE GROWN A LOT BUT IN THE FUTURE PINE TRAILS IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE AN OPTION WE HAVE TO RESORT TO.
>> NO PROBLEM. >> ANOTHER QUESTION?
>> READY FOR THE NEXT ITEM? >> YES, PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS. CHRISTINE AGAIN.
>> WE'LL JUST CONTINUE ON. >> MOVING ALONG.
>> SO AS YOU KNOW LAST MEETING WE WENT THROUGH SEVERAL DIFFERENT PROJECTS AND THE STATUS REQUEST UPDATES.
I'LL CONTINUE TO DO THIS OVER OUR NEXT SERIES OF MEETINGS AS WE CONTINUE TO ADVANCE ON SOME OF THESE PROJECTS.
SO THE PARKSIDE DRIVE PROJECT, COMMISSION APPROVED THAT ON APRIL 21ST, THAT IS MOVING FORWARD, FINALIZATION OF IF AGREEMENT, THAT BOARDWALK WILL BE REPLACED, IT'S GOING TO LOOK EXACTLY HOW IT IS NOW, IT'S JUST GOING TO BE NEW.
>> IF YOU HAVE BEEN OUT TO TARAMAR, CONSTRUCTIONS THAT WE ACTUALLY BEGAN ON APRIL 19TH AND WE ARE SCHEDULED TO COMPLETE THE CONSTRUCTION MID SUMMER AGAIN DEPENDING ON WEATHER AND SO FORTH, EXCITED TO HAVE HAD A NEW PLAY GROOUND.
PLAYGROUND.JUST FOR REMINDER PU, THAT'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.
ESPECIALLY PLAYGROUNDS AND SO FORTH FOR YOU GUYS TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THEM AND EVERYTHING ELSE WITH THE ADA.
AGAIN JUST AS A REMINDER THIS DOES MEET ALL OF OUR ADA MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS. CHAIR MAR PARK SOFTBALL BASEBALL RECONFIGURATION, IT IS OUT FOR BID.
CONSTRUCTION ISN'T ANTICIPATED TO BE COMPLETED AT THE END OF THE YEAR, PROBABLY MOIRNG LIKELY IT WILL BE COMPLETED IN JANUARY BEFORE OUR FEBRUARY HIGH SEASON STARTS.
DON'T WORRY BRIAN WE'LL WORK WITH YOU.
WE'RE PUSHING TO GET IT OUT THERE.
SO THAT WE COULD GET THAT DONE FOR YOUR BUSY SPRING SPRING SEASON. TARAMAR PARK, IMAGE WE'RE LOOKING TO DO TAKE THAT ONE FIELD AND MAKE IT INTO TWO FIELDS AND THEY WILL BOTH BE 200 FOOT FENCES.
ALL SKIN INFIELD, ALL DIRT, CAN BE USED FOR ANY OF THE SPORT.
HIGH TRAILS PARK FIELD IMPROVEMENTS.
AS YOU KNOW WE ARE ALSO HAPPY TO REPORT THAT IT STARTED TODAY ON TIME. AND WE ARE STILL EXPECTING FOR THAT TO BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST TO BE ABLE TO HAVE OUR PROGRAMS BACK OUT THERE ON THE FIELDS AND THEIR SCHEDULED TIME FRAMES.
COVERED BRIDGE IT IS SCHEDULED TO BE PRESENTED FOR COMMISSION APPROVAL THIS COMING WEEK, THIS COMING MEETING WEDNESDAY NIGHT SO WE HAVE HEARD THAT THE CONSTRUCTION IS ANTICIPATED TO TAKE APPROXIMATELY TEN MONTHS SO WE'RE LOOKING AROUND SPRING-SUMMER 2022 FOR THAT PROJECT TO BE COMPLETED THERE.
AND THAT WAS THE OVERALL AERIAL SCEEM ASCHEMATIC FOR THE OVERALL
[00:35:06]
DESIGN. THAT'S IT SNORE THE PARKIMPROVEMENT PROJECTS UPSTAIRS. >> TO MAKE SURE IS IT STAYS ON
>> BUDGET FOR PROJECT MANAGERS FOR EACH ONE OR IS THAT SOMETHING THE CITY HANDLES ON THEIR OWN?
>> THE CITY HANDLES IT, THE CITY HAS A NEW CITY ENGINEER CHRIS MORAN WHO OVERSEES THESE PROJECTS.
HE'S INVOLVED WITH IT, AS WELL AS HE WORKS CLOSELY WITH BILL AND MYSELF AND OUR TEAMS TO GO AHEAD AND SEE THESE PROJECTS
THROUGH. >> ANY OTHER COMMENTS, QUESTIONS? OKAY.
UPCOMING WORK PLAN AND TASK GROUPS FIRST.
>> SO AS YOU KNOW THE CITY'S WENT THROUGH ITS STRATEGIC PLANNING, WE HAD ANOTHER SESSION LAST THURSDAY ON APRIL 29TH.
THROUGH ALL OF IT, THERE HAS BEEN SOMETHING CONVERSATION IN REGARDS TO IDENTIFYING WORK PLANS AND GOALS AND THINGS FOR ALL OF OUR ADVISO ADVISORY BOART IN SPECIFIC SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WILL COME UP FOR YOU GUYS. TONIGHT, THIS IS TWO CONCEPTS, WE WILL INTRODUCE MORE AS WE CONTINUE TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS AND MEETINGS BECAUSE THERE IS A WHOLE LIST.
WE UNDERSTAND TIME IS VALUABLE FOR EVERYBODY AND BE WE APPRECIATE EVERYBODY'S SERVICE AND INPUT AND EVERYTHING ELSE.
WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE'RE DOING OUR DUE DILIGENCE ALSO.
TWO PLANS WE WANT TO START HAVING CONVERSATION ABOUT WILL BE THE PARKLAND DAYS, BRING THAT BACK ON THE CITY CELEBRATES ITS 60TH BIRTHDAY. JUST SO YOU GUYS KNOW THAT WILL BE IN 2023 SO WE STILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF TIME FOR THAT BUT NOW IS THE TIME TO START HAVING THE CONVERSATIONS AS FAR AS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO. BRINGING BACK THE FAR AID, WHERE IS THAT PARADE ROUTE, DO WE DO THEMES, DO WE HAVE CONTESTS YOU KNOW AND THEN FOR US TO START DEVELOPING DO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN WE START PRESENTING THE FOLLOWING 2023 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET THAT THE FUNDING IS THERE TO SUPPORT THAT EVENT.
SO WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU GUYS TO BE A PART OF THAT PLANNING PROCESS. SO A LOT OF YOU WERE HERE WHEN PARKLAND DAYS USED TO TAKE PLACE.
WE WANT TO HEAR THAT. EVEN IF YOU WEREN'T HERE HOWARD
HAS HIS PLUG. >> I ANY IT WAS NIGHT UNDER THE STARS VIP, WAS VERY IMPORTANT FOR PARKLAND.
IT WAS A CATERED EVENT, VERY NICE, ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHETHER YOU WERE ON THE BOARDS OR YOU WERE ON THE DIRECTORS OF ALL THE LEEKS, EVERYONE CAME OUT IT WAS A REALLY NICE THING AND I DEFINITELY THINK IT SHOULD BE BROUGHT BACK FOR SURE.
>> THAT MAY BE ON THE LIST. SO WHAT WE'RE REALLY LOOKING FOR IS FOR YOU GUYS TO THINK ESPECIALLY FOR THE NEXT TWO TOPICS. THE NEXT TOPIC IS GOING TO BE A REVIEW OF OUR SPORTS POLICY AND MORE SPECIFICALLY TALKING ABOUT USER FEES. AS YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR BOOKS WERE PASSED OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW TERM, THOSE OF YOU WHO SERVED MULTIPLE TERMS PROBABLY HAVE MULTIPLE COPIES OF IT.
IT'S AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE OR GIVE ME A CALL AND I'LL BE HAPPY TO E-MAIL IT TO YOU. CURRENTLY NOW THE CITY ONLY CHARGES OUR ORGANIZATIONS NONRESIDENT FEES.
AND SO DOING AS MUCH RESEARCH ACROSS THE COUNTY IT REALLY IS A SMOR GAS BORING OF DIFFERENT IDEAS.
SMORG ASSMINTSMOR GAS BOGASBORG. TRAVEL TEAMS PAY FOR PERMITS AS THEY REQUEST AND USE THEM. SO THERE IS A WHOLE VARIETY OF METHODS THAT ARE OUT THERE. AND WE LIKE FOR YOU GUYS TO START TAKING LOOK AT THE SPORTS POLICY AND SEEING WHAT REALLY WORKS BEST FOR US HERE IN PARKLAND.
SO TONIGHT WHAT, I'M HOPING FOUR IS HAVING YOU THINK ABOUT THESE TOPICS AND WHAT TASK GROUP YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF ON THE PLANNING AND INPUT. I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU, IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY JUST HAVE TO STOP WITH YOU.
LIKE WITH PARKLAND DAYS FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU ARE ON IT AND YOU KNOW SOME RESIDENTS THAT COULD PROVIDE SOME VALUABLE INPUT, BY ALL MEANS, THEY'RE INVITED TO COME OUT AND BE PART
[00:40:03]
OF THOSE MEETINGS AS WELL. THE ONLY RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS I NEED TO MAKE SURE WE STRESS IS PROBABLY MORE THAN ONE OF YOU WILL BE TOGETHER AND WHO KNOWS WHERE THIS MAY GO, WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND SUNSHINE AND NOTICE THESE MEETINGS TO BE SAFER ON IT OKAY? THERE IS A THREE DAY ADVANCE NOTICE REQUIREMENT SO I'M ASKING TO YOU LET US KNOW FIVE DAYS BEFORE YOUR PLANNING MEETING SO THAT WE CAN MAKE SURE OUR CITY CLERK PROPERLY HAS NOTICE TO BE ABLE TO NOTICE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THAT MEETING. THE SECOND PART OF THAT IS, MINUTES WOULD HAVE TO BE KEPT. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE VERBATIM, WORD FOR WORD, BUT WHOEVER IS PART OF THAT MEETING YOU ALSO HAVE TO SELECT SOMEBODY WHO WILL E-MAIL STEPHANIE AND/OR ME, TWO, THREE DX FOUR SENTENCE SYNOPSIS SO SHE CAN PUT TOGETHER SOMETHING FOR THAT MEETING. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO VITAL, LIKE FOR MY STAFF TO SIT IN AS A FORM OF EXPERTISE FOR YOUR OPINION.OKAY? AND KIND OF HELP GUIDE OR PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION YOU GUYS MAY NEED.
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO YOUR OWN FACT FINDING.
CLL OUT TO OTHER CITIES AND KIND OF FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON. WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SPORTLE POLICY, DO ALL THAT FACT FINDING OVER THE NEXT TWO MONTHS AND THAT WAY WHEN YOU COME BACK TO OUR NEXT MEETING YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND PRESENT SOME OF THE IDEAS AND SOME OF THE CONVERSATIONS AND AS A BOARD COLLECTIVELY WE'LL BE ABLE TO GET OA POINTS WHERE YOU GUYS MAYOR BE ABLE TO MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO THE COMMISSION.
>> (INAUDIBLEING (IN (INAUDIBLE. >> I WOULD SAY IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM PER SE. IT WAS MORE SO IN REGARDS TO THEY WANTING TO HERE YOUR INPUT, IS THERE SOMETHING WE COULD LOOK AT TO TRY TO RECOUP SOME OF THOUGH MAINTENANCE COSTS.
THE MAINTENANCE FEES CONTINUE TO INCREASE YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR BETWEEN LIGHTS AND LIGHTING THE FIELD, FIELD MAINTENANCE, YOU HAD MENTIONED THE EXPECTATION IS HERE AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE CAN MEET THOSE EXPECTATIONS.
OUR USER GROUPS ARE THE PRIMARY USERS OF OUR FIELDS.
YES THEY ARE OPEN FOR RESIDENTS AND SOME GROUPS DO PULL PERMITS AND SO FORTH IN REGARDS TO THAT BUT THE WEAR AND TEAR AND CONSTANT REPLAY IS PRIMARILY AS YOU KNOW YOU KNOW THROUGH OUR SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS. SO IS THERE A HAPPY COMPROMISE THAT WE CAN LOOK AT IN REGARDING TO CONTRIBUTING A LITTLE BIT
TOWARDS THOSE MAINTENANCE COSTS. >> (INAUDIBLE).
>> THAT WAS THE ANSWER, RIGHT. NO PROBLEM.
AND BY ALL MEANS YOU GUYS AS A BOARD COULD ALSO SINCE YOU'RE LOOKING SPECIFICALLY AT THE USER FEES YOU COULD LOOK AT OTHER THINGS IN THE SPORTS POLICY, I THIK A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN A YEAR AGO WE MADE SOME AMENDMENTS, WE'RE ON THE SIXTH OR SEVENTH AMENDMENT OF THAT POLICY SO BY ALL MARINES.
>> WOULD THAT BE A -- (INAUDIBLE).
>> SO IT WOULD BE PRIOR TO BUDGET AND IT WOULD ROLL INTO PART OF OUR BUDGET PROCESS ON -- THE CITY HAS A FEES FOR SERVICE.
SO FOR EVERY ACTIVITY THAT GETS CHARGED OR A MAJORITY OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT WE KNOW OF THAT WE KNOW ARE HAPPENING OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS, PAVILION RENTALS ALL THAT STUFF GETS EVALUATED AND GETS PUT INTO OUR FEES FOR SERVICES.
IF WE'RE LOOKING AT ADOPTIVING SOMETHING LIKE THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT PART OF THE BUDGET PROCESS, YES.
IT WOULD NOT ROLL OUT IN THE OCTOBER, BUT YOUR CONVERSATION MAY BE, WE DON'T DO IT AS EARLY AS OCTOBER OR PERHAPS JANUARY BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE SPORTS ROLL OUT.
ALL OF THOSE NEED TO BE OCONSIDERED.
>> THE FIRST ROUND OF THE BUDGET IS IT LIKE AUGUST? TRYING TO BACK INTO ONE WE SHOULD MEET AND PREPARE.
>> SO THE AUGUST MEETING IS ACTUALLY FOR PUBLIC INPUT.
SO WE ARE ACTUALLY IN BUDGET PROCESS RIGHT NOW.
[00:45:02]
LIKE I HAD TO HAVE MY DEPARTMENT JUDGMENT PREPARED AND SUBMITTED ALREADY INTERNALLY. AND WE'RE DOING REVIEWS WITH OUR FINANCE DIRECTOR, IT IS A PRETTY EXTENSIVE PROCESS BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT WE CAN'T MAKE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS AND SO FORTH.SO WE'LL HAVE UNTIL SEPTEMBER FOR THE FIRST HEARING AND SECOND HEARING. I'M SORRY, I CAN'T HEAR YOU.
(INAUDIBLE). >> SO OUR NEXT MEETING IS IN JULY AND THEN THE MEETING AFTER THAT WOULD BE SEPTEMBER.
SO THAT WOULD BE THE VERY LAST TIME.
OKAY? HOPEFULLY, WE'RE HOPING TO HEAR YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS BACK AT THE JULY MEETING.
SO THEN BECAUSE ANYTHING THAT GETS CHANGED OR ADOPTED IN THE SPORTS POLICY YOUR RECOMMENDATION DOES HAVE TO GO BACK FOR COMMISSION FOR FINAL APPROVAL.
SO WE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THAT PROCESS AS WELL TOO.
>> GREAT, SO THEN CAN I MAKE A MOTION TO CREATE TASK GROUPS FOR PARKLAND DAYS AND FOR SPORTS POLICY USER FEES?
>> WE HAVE A MOTION AND SECOND. ALL IN FAVOR? OKAY. PASSES.
SO AT THIS POINT WE SORT OF HAVE TO HAVE THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE INTERESTED IN EACH GROUP VOLUNTEER THEIR SERVICES.
ONCE WE GET ANOTHER GROUP WE CAN ASSIGN TASK FORCE OR CHAIR TASKE GROUPS. SPORTS POLICY?
>> I'LL WORK ON THE SPORTS POLICY.
>> OKAY. >> I GOT BRIAN AND LEO ON SPORTS. AND DAVID.
OKAY. >> I'D LIKE TO TAKE PART IN
>> BOTH OF THEM IF POSSIBLE. >> BOTH.
>> I'LL DO -- I MEAN I -- IT'S REALLY JUST WE CAN HAVE IT SET UP THAT EVERYBODY CAN CONTRIBUTE, AND, YOU KNOW,
JUST -- >> JUST A REMINDER TOO, BECAUSE THEE TASKS -- YOU GUYS WILL BE ABLE TO STILL ARE YOUR COLLECTIVE BIG GROUP CONVERSATION.
YOU WILL BRING IT BACK TO EVERYBODY ELSE ON THE BOARD.
>> WHAT IS THE BEST WAY OF INVITING OTHERS OUTSIDE OF
>> WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO INVITE OTHERS OUTSIDE THE
ADVISORIES BOARDS? >> IT'S GOING TO BE A PUBLIC MEETING, THAT'S WHY I REQUIRE THE NOTICE.
FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO ANYONE YOU FEEL WILL BE OF BENEFIT OR WANT TO BE. THEY'RE NOT LIVE.
THEY WILL BE AT ONE OF OUR FACILITIES.
I DID ACCIDENTALLY OMIT THAT. SO THE STAFF PEOPLE THAT WILL BE A PART OF THESE MEETINGS, BRUNO WILL BE A PART OF THE SPORTS POLICY AND SCOTT -- AND SCOTT WILL SIT IN AND BE A PART OF THE
PARKLAND DAYS. >> SO YOU'LL MALE US?
>> I WILL E-MAIL YOU THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION SO WHEN YOU GUYS DECIDE TO MEET JUST E-MAIL THEM AND THEY CAN HELP COORDINATE ONE OF OUR FACILITIES FOR THAT MEETING, BUT IT WILL BE A LIVE FORUM, DOESN'T NEVILLE HAVE TO BE HERE.
>> DO WE NEED TO PICK A COMMITTEE CHAIR NOW OR DO WE WANT TO JUST SETH UP A FIRST MEETING, INVITE EVERYBODY AND GO
FROM THERE? >> I.T. WOULDN'T BE A BAD IDEA IF YOU APPOINTED SOMEBODY ON EACH GROUP, THAT WOULD BE YOUR
POINT. >> I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE
BRIAN FOR SPORTS POLICY. >> IF THERE IS NO OBJECTION, I
GUESS CONGRATULATIONS BRIAN. >> AND FOR PARKLAND DAYS,
>> WHAT'S THAT? >> SANDRA IS GOING TO DO
PARKLAND DAYS. >> I'LL BE HAPPY TO JOIN ON THAT
BRING YOUR MUG? >> I'LL BRING MY MUG, ABSOLUTELY. (INAUDIBLE).
>> CORRECT. JUST REMEMBER TO NOT HAVE CONVERSATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE SCHEDULED -- RIGHT, YOU'RE GOING TO BRING ARE IT BACK TO HERE TO HAVE THAT OPEN DISCUSSION.
>> I DO HAVE ONE -- SORRY, I HAD ONE QUESTION IN REGARDS TO-I UNDERSTAND WE'LL BE WORKING WITH YOUR STAFF BUT WHO ELSE IN THE CITY IS ROLLING THAT OUT, WILL TODD IN COMMUNICATIONS OR WE'RE
JUST IDEA-FORMING AT THIS POINT. >> IT IS BECAME OF FOR YOU GUYS TO START THINKING ABOUT DIFFERENT IDEAS AND GIVE US SOME
[00:50:03]
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR US TO CONSIDER AT THIS POINT.SPHOORS BRINGING ANY ADDITIONAL SUPPORT OR NEEDS, SCOTT AND BRUNO WILL HAVE THE RESOURCES THEY NEED.
IF THEY FEEL TODD NEEDS TO COME INTO ONE WE'LL RESEARCH THAT AND COORDINATE THAT ON OUR END. YES SO ALSO ONE OF THE CONVERSATIONS WAS ALSO TRYING TO SHARE SOME OF THESE TASKS THAT MAY OVERLAP EVEN ACROSS ADVISORY BOARDS.
SO LIKE THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD MAY DO SOME COMPONENTS OF THE PARKLAND DAYS, YOU KNOW? SO WE'LL EVEN HAVE SOME CROSS-BOARD INTERACTION AND SHARING AND SO FORTH.
SO AS WE CONTINUE TO MOVE KNOW, WHETHER YOU GO TO THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD AND PRESENT SOME IDEAS OR VICE VERSA OR YOU GUYS HAVE SOME OF THESE TASK JOINT MEETINGS, ALL OF THAT COULD BE FIGURED OUT AND WORKED OUT.
BUT THERE WILLING BE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FROM SOME OTHER WEISZ BOARDS, TOO. ADVISORY BOARDS TOO. ABOUT EVAN? I THINK I GOT EVERYBODY. AND I'LL FIND OUT, I'M E-MAIL
I GUESS WE'RE GOOD ON THAT? >> YES, APPRECIATE IT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. OH, K.C, PARKLAND DAYS.
WE GOT A GOOD SPLIT HERE. SO I'M EXCITED.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT AND TIME AND LOOK FORWARD
TO WORKING WITH YOU GUYS. >> THANK YOU.
OKAY, MOVING ON TO OLD BUSINESS. I DON'T THINK WE HAVE ANY, RIGHT? ANYTHING ELSE TO BRING UP? OKAY. WE NEED A MOTION TO ADJOURN.
WE HAVE A MOTION TO ADJOURN. >> I'LL SECOND THAT.
>> ALL IN FAVOR? THANK YOU EVERYONE.
WE'LL SEE EVERYONE ON JULY 19TH.
HAVE A GOOD
